Indeed, Pistol/Dagger is amazingly powerful. Stealth + Range damage is just crazy good.
Not possible to win against that as a warrior. I say that form a thief and warrior-view. The specc completely wrecks anything in a 1v1 >_> Also it’s very easy to play. No idea how a spell like Death Blossom made it into the game. Also on my Pistol/Dagger-condition thief with about +75% bleeding duration and “only” 1300 condition damage, one Death Blossom deals 5.5k damage over 17 seconds. Add caltrops, roll for initiative and caltrops on dodge and you will you deal crazy damage while being unkillable.
EDIT: Here is my secret very crazy tactic: Start with Death Blossom (Check what he is doing, if he stays in the caltrops: Death BlossomDeath BlossomDeath Blossom (Steal or roll for initivative incase you run out of Initiative) Death BlossomDeath BlossomDeath BlossomDeath BlossomDeath Blossom -> profit).
If he walks out of the caltrops, chase him, dodge where he is standing to drop more caltrops -> Death BlossomDeath BlossomDeath BlossomDeath BlossomDeath BlossomDeath BlossomDeath BlossomDeath BlossomDeath BlossomDeath BlossomDeath BlossomDeath BlossomDeath BlossomDeath Blossom -> Profit
Also don’t forget to use a few Death Blossom while you’re chasing him: Never let your initiative run full!
In case the warrior is getting anway, just switch to shortbow and chase him and throw a dancing dagger when you finally reach him.

People who whine about thief haven’t met a good mesmer yet -_-
Pretty much, backstab specc is nice to kill baddies and squishies. But as soon as you are against better players (or in a teamfight) the specc sucks. A reliable condition Pistol/Dagger is much much better.

As thief you can’t land CnD reliable without steal in teamfights. You are very squishy and standing in melee range to land CnD is deadly. I would like to see a burst reduction (Steal → CnD not doable) and a rework on some double dagger skills. Seriously, number 3 is completely useless to the playstyle of double dagger. Yes, you can go a heavy condition based specc and spam 3 all day and kill stuff. But this is boring and should be removed from the game in my opinion.
So my idea is to nerf heartseeker strike (nerf the gap closer on it) and rework number 3 to a gapcloser + short root/stun with low damage. All skills on double dagger would work well together and create a fun and strong gameplay.
But if A-net nerfs this without compensation, what do we have left? Condition Pistol/Dagger, which is probably the strongest thief specc overall, so it will get nerfed too T_T

Well, it depends how you are seeing it:
The Backstab-specc is amazing against anything non-bunker. It completely obliterates people in a 1v1. However, the specc is incredible bad against tanky classes. I played with this specc 7+ duels against a tanky-guardian and I lost all of them. With condition specc I won most of them (Also I had 2 orbs (WvWvW) when I was backstab and he had 3 orbs when I was condition-specced, so it was pretty funny).
Good players know how this burst works and can avoid it, though I agree that a skilled thief should win against the majority of the classes with this specc, unless they have very strong and “fast” defensive abilities (like endure pain or mist form) or if they are very tanky.
In a teamfight you drop one guy in 2 seconds and now he is in a downed state. However, the thief is now pretty useless against the rest of the team: He has to stay in melee range, he has like 12k HP and medium armor. The rest of the team will just focus and kill him. After the initial burst he lost a lot of value to the team, at least compared to a sword/pistol thief or a condition-thief.
I’m also not sure if the specc is OP, I guess it depends if you see the balance from a 1v1-view or a team-view. As thief player, I would play my condition-specc with pistol/dagger anyday over double dagger.
TLDR: Specc OP in 1v1 against anything nontanky, specc bad in teamfights and against tanky speccs.
Lmao. People still dying to HS-Spam? It’s so terrible. It’s only usable as finisher after the nerf. If you die to HS-spam, use dodge and get some defensive traits. Sure, if you go into the fight with a berserker-amulet, zero points in defensive traits and no defensive stuff on the utility bar, then yes, you will die to HS spam. But guess what, everything kills you. You will die to a ranger pet, you will die to random AE-spells (like whirlwind from a warrior).
I totally agreed to the heartseeker-nerf but this nerf is just too much, especially because they didn’t gave us anything in return. Doesn’t arenanet see that the problem is quickness? Steal + quickness + 2x PW drops anything in a couple of seconds.
EDIT: I don’t think you can compare PW to HB. HB has no initial stun and doesn’t deal tons of damage in the first couple of seconds. Also the burst has a pretty clear animation (Bull’s charge, bollas). Also if you avoid the first stun and the first HB with quickness, he is an easy kill. GS-Warriors need buffs and not nerfs >.>
Everytime I get moa’d i’m happy. I know that the Mesmer is bad and doesn’t use AE quickness, which is just broken as hell.
The root is actually pretty kitten good. Not in a 1v1 against melees but in a teamfight. A 3 second root on a squishy means death for him.
I think ele is fine, it’s just that mesmer and guardian downed skill are extremely strong.
Thief are annoying but at least they don’t deal as much damage. I was critted once for 4k by the mesmer downed skill. -_-
EDIT: I rather see a nerf to the downed skills of guardian, thief and mesmer than a buff to ele. Do you really want to play PvP with all of the classes having a mass CC or a escape tool while downed? You know how annoying that would be? >_>

I never said something like “it’s dead”. I’m very happy and still playing hours every day. However, i’m not playing a lot of WvWvW, which was the main reason for getting GW2 for me.

Hi! It’s just something I also posted on reddit and I invested my time and energy in it. I hope the feedback is appreciated. So here it is:
I think the endgame is kinda lacking. WvWvW doesn’t offer much right now. I mean, there is no reason to do any WvWvW. No “winner-list”, no gear (badges system is frustrating as hell), no ranks to grind (like in daoc), it just has no sense of progression or accomplishment.
An example was that I attacked supply lines with my friends (we were 5) for more than 3 hours. We did an amazing job; we ganked reinforments, killed 234234 (yes) dolyaks, took 25 camps or more and even managed to kill a raid of 12 people (Thief/Guardian AE OP). What did we get? Like 5000 Karma, 30 Badges and 70 silver. We got ZERO fame, nobody knows our name and zero progression in something. Yes, we had a lot of fun in the beginning but the capping got boring quickly. I wish there would be a possibility to take keeps and towers for a small, skilled and organized group (like a ladder maybe? Defenders could pukitten over easily and it would easily be destroyed. Or how about backpacks? A person could wear one and he could carry 50 supplies, instead of 10. The person can’t attack while wearing it and putting the backpack down would require a 5 second cast). Atm it’s “zerg ftw”.
Dungeons at 80: I’m not sure why they are so frustrating to play, I can’t really point the finger on it. Though I think it’s the cheesiness of difficulty. I enjoyed Dark Souls a lot because I was always in command of my death. But in TA there were those freaking poison flowers, which applied poison on me while still invisible. Spawn → Poison → Im dead.
Also there were some Hammer-mobs, which jumped on me, stunned me and killed me in one hit. Usually I managed to dodge the first AE stun but after the fight has begun, the AE stun was instant and therefore undodgeable for me. It’s just frustrating. And yes, I am wearing some toughness/vit-gear. Nearly all my armor has Vit/toughness on it and im wearing Knight/Valkyre-trinkets.
I think a lot of the attacks of enemies have to be changed to clearly show when they will land: A mob should raise the weapon in a clear way and in a fluent animation (Not stop midair to make a player pre-dodge. But rather a clear and fluid animation like in Dark Souls). AE attacks must have to have a clear and bright ring on the ground and it should be clearly be visible when it will hit. Also BS like invisible poison flowers have to go.
Event-farming: Why only Orr at 80? This is easy to fix. Let all events award the same after lvl 30 and all drops are scaled to your level. I don’t really know why this isn’t already like that. Orr gets boring quickly. Stupid risen. Also if I play with a friend, I get zero rewards. Why is it like this? Annoying.
sPvP: Needs an elo system and a second elo-system for tournaments and your team.
Those are the main problem I have currently with the game.

I often see myself trying to “tag” enemies instead of doing smart things like repairing walls, reviving friends, finishing enemies, helping to build siege weapons etc. Also classes with a ranged AE are more rewarded than classes without one. Also supports aren’t rewarded at all.
Why this bad system? Why can’t we have a similar system to the “event-system”, in which you have to deal some amount of damage to get the gold medal? For example, if you deal X-damage, you automatically tag all enemies killed in the next 15 seconds. CC, buffs and debuffs would be rewarded in a similar way: Buff at least 5 people in 15 seconds, CC at least 5 enemies in 15 seconds or debuff at least 5 enemies in 15 seconds to get loot from all enemies dying around you.
Also it would work together, as example you could tag all people around you by CCing three people and buffing two allies. This would solve a lot of frustration for me.
What you think? Good or bad idea?
Uhm, not much. You choose what you will do from lvl ~12 to ~19. It’s fun, enjoyed it more than the search for my lost sister

Sadly, some guilds with no buffs unlocked are claiming keeps in WvWvW. We have tons of buffs unlocked and we would happily share them with other guild’s keeps but right now we can’t.
So I would suggest those changes:
-The keep will get claimed by the guild which has the most member “capping” it (after killing the boss). They will get the big banner. However, if another guild comes to the keep and has more buffs unlocked, they can claim it too. If they claim it, a smaller banner will appear under the big one. People standing in it (and recognizing the banner) will think: “Ah, this keep is hold by <SWAG> with support from <the best> and <YOLO>”.
This gives guilds, which did the most work, the safety to claim the keep for themselves, but guilds with better buffs will still have the possibility to share them.

WvWvW isn’t supposed to be fair, Anet said that very often. I think it’s okay. I love that Gold is actually meaningful in this MMO, unlike other in which it’s just some useless accumulation of something.
EDIT: I also think it’s good that lowlvls are discouraged to join WvWvW.

I hated it first but I actually love it now. It makes a better team even more likely to win. In other MMOs you could win with fights with lucky swaps and bursting someone down. You can’t do that in GW2.

Damage is kinda the same but the warrior one is incredible bursty. However, Guardians have tons of utility, while being pretty tanky.
For solo PvP and 1v1 take guardian, the Warrior class only really shines in a good team with tons of distraction.

Because then you’d have no incentive to touch the content of the game or WvW. The reward for sPvP, is valor. The reward for PvE/WvW is exp.
Offering people a choice of what? You don’t go sPvP to level, you go there to PvP. The only reason WvW has exp reward is because it uses your PvE character.
All I see here is someone too lazy to play the game and wants an easy way to level 80.
Why do you say an EASY way.. in my suggestion it would grant 1/2 of the valor leveling speed. Meaning it would probably take 10-20 times longer to level through SPVP i cant say that is the “Easy” way >.>
I just would like to have a small option. I really cant see why i should be forced to level through PVE again, and WvWvW is just one option (which is also pvp) why not have the option for SPVP to. I really cant see any bad things about that.
This simply is an option for people who dont want to play PVE and really enjoy SPVP and would like to see a small amount of XP for this.

Yea, quickness is extremely strong, especially if it has no debuff or no strong debuff (Like the thief or range one). Also quickness as procc is completely dumb.
Yea, I think it should award a bit of EP. Would make a great break from the grinding!
Lmao, the videos. Playing without defensive talents, block or endure pain. You can’t be serious. Any thief will jump and kill you in a couple of seconds. Those builds are not viable in a higher level of play against better players.
EDIT: Though the longbow-one seems very interesting. I just would like to know how he managed to avoid the teams full of thiefs, mesmer and guardians.

Well, I think Warriors are only playable because HB-Damage is completely absurd. Without that, warriors would be extremely weak. Also stacked teams of mesmer, thiefs and guardians are impossible to deal with as warrior.
Though I have to say that Warriors are pretty fine. It’s just that thiefs and guardians (And maybe mesmers) are too strong. But they will get nerfed and that should fix it.
In my opnion, the bigger problem is that next to GS/Axe+1h shield we have no viable builds (well, maybe a tanky rifle-specc I’m trying atm. It’s okay). Another possible build is tank-warrior but it is completely outclassed by tank-guardian.

I think pretty much the same; Against good teams i’m no longer a damage dealer, i’m a baiter with high mobility. I just use Rush and Whirlwind attack to escape and kite my enemies into my friends. Gets old quickly.
Squishy HB warrior is just such an easy target to kill against a stacked team of mesmers, guardians and thiefs (Which are now the majority of warzones). Also tanky speccs just are not nearly as good as guardian’s.
EDIT: Warrior is probably only playable because HB-Damage is completely absurd.

An option to remove ability queue. This is really annoying on the thief :/
Some bigger points:
-The gear gained in sPvP should be given based on skill and rating, so there should be a Elo-system in the game. Atm it’s just time and luck. But i’m sure this is already on it’s way.
-Arena. I think it could be great and fun. 2v2, 3v3 or 5v5.
- More gear. I don’t want a gear full of vit, power and toughness with my warrior. But well, there is only that, unless I farm tons of mats and craft it (which is kinda boring tbh).
- not sure about this last point, maybe someone should give his opinion on that: I have a geared lvl 80 warrior and when I get home in the evening I want to play WvWvW. However, the queue is very long. I’m also sure that there is a lvl 3-9 player who just wants to get some easy levels. So shouldn’t a geared lvl 80 player have priority over a lvl 4 thief? I mean, the lvl 80 can for sure do more for his server. Also shouldn’t a group of guildies have the possibility to queue together and have priority over players who play without coordination?
Like I said, i’m not sure about the last point.
EDIT: A possibility could also be to give a guild WvWvW-points, based on the capturing they did in WvWvW. A higher rating gives a guild faster queuing-times. I mean, they did a lot so shouldn’t they have priority over others?
EDIT2: Also duels. Please. Add an option, which disables dueling for the people who don’t want to.

I’m looking for exactly the same. We are currently two very good players and 2 upper middle-skilled players. We need a couple more players but sadly we are on EU
