I’d like to see a toughness-ignore instead of + damage on burst skills. Warrior get dominated pretty hard by bunker-speccs and this would be a great way to deal with those >_>

then make a bunker style warrior? you have to give to get in this game. either you are a glass cannon or you are a tank. you cant have your cake and eat it to.

Bunker warriors are kinda kitten compared to guardians and elementalists. If give it -condition duration, PvP-players have to fully skill that tree, so that wouldn’t be a good way to solve that

Well, in sPvP P/D-thieves are balanced because there is no food with condition duration. Without that, we deal close to no damage. Maybe use -conditionduration-food?

D/P is counter to any melee atm (They can get killed easily by other thieves though). With number 3 we can get away from melee extremely easy (we even can even leave the hammer’s ring with it).

To bring them to shatter-level, you should be able to instantly summon 3 phantasm and they all should deal together the same amount of damage shatter does, so like 4k noncrit on heavy armor

Well, the question is: Why should you take 1.5k damage on a 18? sec cooldown if you can just mind wrack every 10 seconds for about 3k damage noncrit? with about 60%? crit chance?

Mind wrack is just overpowered atm.

Did you have “Guild Wars Account E-mail Authentication” active? This alone (+ Gmail security) makes it extremely hard to hack an account (or impossible, unless there is a bug in GW2 security).

It’s an I-win button against melee classes as Pistol/dagger-thief. Just spam it till they are dead. Pretty lame but unbeatable for non-thieves.

Using shadow strike 15-25 times to kill someone, its damage is super low, doesn’t sound like a very effective I win button to me.

But yea, I think Steal needs some changes. It’s pretty boring to use and has a HUGE cooldown. I wish they would reduce all effects of stolen weapons by 50% and reduce the cooldown by 50% (and ofc remove mug. Mug is broken anyway).

Yea, bunker elementalists are crazy and S/D-thieves (with the boon-steal on steal) can pressure them very hard. Usually a bunker-elementalist can survive against two people pretty long if they have cooldowns up. However, not against a S/D thief.

Sword/Dagger-thief are kinda on the uprising now (I have met a few in tPvP yesterday), just because they counter bunker speccs (especially elementalist) so hard. Two people can easily take out a bunker elementalist in a couple of seconds: Thief brings tons of boon removals, roots(and dazes, both the death of an elementalist) and some damage, while the second one should bring tons of damage.

Flanking strike needs some works (Incredible unreliable, evade isn’t there for the whole duration, you get thrown into pillars and walls etc.) but overall it’s an interesting mechanics and the only way to counter bunker elementalists (and condition-bunker mesmer, they also rely heavily on boons).

Builds that I think need to be looked into.

For a beginner yes. However, after a while you will know which one is the real one and you will understand the different speccs. They will still (probably) win most duels but they aren’t unbeatable (Unlike D/D bunker eles).

After playing some matches in sPvP as Sword/Dagger-thief I think it can probably win most 1v1 against those D/D-eles. (Or at least pressure them really really hard and force them to use all cantrips, heal and elite).

It’s 289 HPS (regenration) for my elementalist, together with Soothing Mist (144) it’s 423 HPS, which is completely broken. Soothing Mist also has 100% uptime if you use your elementalist well.

Power/healing/toughness-eles with 0/10/0/30/30 are just insane atm: Tons of condition removals, 100% uptime on regeneration for a long time, extremely strong heals, very strong CC (strongest CC ingame?), good AE damage), 12 seconds of stability and protection (without + boon duration), free protection and regeneration if you switch into water and earth, 27 seconds of vigor.

Though that’s D/D, no idea why the hell he is talking about S/D. Why pick scepter over dagger? The range? The spells are utter kitten on scepter and for most offhand-dagger spells you need to be in melee range anyway. So why?

EDIT: Just play some tournaments and you will see that after winning ~2 rounds you will go most of the time against 2 bunker-eles, which will dominate your whole team. You need two send two people to kill one ele and even then they can easily escape.

EDIT2: I like my ele, so I would be very disappointed if Anet nerfs sustain-eles into oblivion. They just need some tweaks on regeneration-uptime. Perma regeneration with 700 healingpower is just too much :/ Bunker D/D is already the only specc we can run (Or S/D but I think scepter is horrible. Maybe it’s just me?).

2 Runes of the Monk. (15% Boon Duration.)
2 Runes of the Water. (15% Boon Duration.)
2 Major Rune of Sanctuary. (10% Boon Duration.)
30 Points in Arcana (everyone gets this.) (30% Boon Duration.)

70% Boon Duration, Infinite Regeneration, Infinite Vigor, Infinite Swiftness, Ni-Infinite Protection. (Depends on how you spec, but its up 80% of the time, and all the time if you pay attention.)

There is really no way you can’t keep permament regeneration, way to many things add it.

Oh wow, I didn’t even thought of the runes. Cheers for that! Even more sustain incoming.

Warriors have the strongest downed state in the game. Sadly, they are under preforming pretty hard in PvP, so it doesn’t change much.

But if warriors get buffed, they should/will probably get nerfed in the downed state.

Just pop stability and you can successfully stomp most classes. You even can counter Mesmer to make an instant stomp (Start the stomp, they will usually teleport, abort it instantly, restart it. Now the animation “runs” while he is in stealth. He appears at the same time as your animation finishes and gets stomped).

But eles have absolutely no counterplay. Like the OP said: Downing a bunker/sustain-ele is already extremely hard. You need 2-3 people to do that. When they are downed, they can reset their HP or avoid 100% a stomp, something which no other class can. Also the mobility gives them the possibility to run into safety.

only problem with downstates is that enemies rally on stomp.
So you are leading in a teamfight, downed 2 people but you can´t stomp them because they teleport around, then they down a class that can´t teleport and just stability stomp and rally the teleport champs turning the fight around becaus of this stupid mechanic.

Also conditions shouldn´t be removed when someone is down. It takes too long for condition classes to stack conditions again to prevent rezzing.

.. Indeed. I have never saw it that way. You are totally right. Rally (probably) should go from stomps.

EDIT: Sure, with completely even downed skills that should be alright. However, some downed skills are so frustrating to deal with atm, that stomping shouldn’t rally. Stacked teams of eles, thieves, mesmers and guardiands have such a big advantage with their downed skills.

You are only wearing one defensive stats, toughness. He is wearing full offensive gear. I mean, I don’t understand what you guys want for a game. That thief dies in 4 hits against a greatsword warrior. He dies from random shatters, autoattacks, traps, ae damage etc. in a team fight. He used all on you: Steal and probably assassin’s signet. For the next 45 seconds he can sit back and spam cluster bombs or die a horrible quick death.

I mean, what exactly do you want? Should everyone be wearing bunker stuff and so duels would never finish? Or buff toughness that much so that direct damage is complete kitten? He put everything on that card: One dodge or your “Roll for Intitiative” would have made his burst gone.

(You should wear carrion anyway against burst classes).

EDIT: Also is that shaman’s pendant? With toughness, condition damage and healing? You should go for carrion. Thieves don’t have enough uptime on regeneration to make healing power good sadly .

A big balance patch is coming the 14th of December. It will probably make or break the pvp in GW2. The patch will show if Anet knows what they are doing. If it’s, again, something like the 30 sec less CD on portal we’re screwed x( PLease anet!

Funny this. IF they plan on nerfing eles heals. majority of people have:
- 13.8k hp/light armour.
How is that suppose to survive?
1x backstab thief can take ele to 10% health – shatter mesmer can also do roughly the same.
make it in a 2v1 situation and…….. problem solved?

i agree with down state eles getting nerfed, but heals in general which people are complaining about is a joke lol, they already broke blast finishers so our Buffing build isn’t viable, our dps isn’t comparable to others as a “main” dps.

I agree fully. However, mesmer and thief burst will also get nerfed. If they don’t nerf eles too, they will completely dominate sPvP. They already can easily outheal 2 non mesmer and non-thieves. What will happen if Anet nerfs those?

EDIT: I mean, perma regenration with 724 bonus healing is completely over the top. And eles even have ways to directly heal themselves.

I say it again:

Mug is the problem. Too powerful, boring to use and makes Steal → CnD → Backstab way to powerful.

My idea: Change mug to a short daze (or just remove it completely) and reverse the CnD-nerf.

Mug is really the problem: A high damage ability with 45 second cooldown, which doesn’t use a Utility-slot, is completely broken.

To give us something back for this nerf you could lower the cooldown of steal drastically (25? seconds) but also nerf the abilities you get with it (Just nerf the duration of all boons, debuffs and abilities by 50% maybe?).

This would also be a nice buff for squishy Dagger/Dagger which just get completely destroyed in teamfights if they used their Steal → CnD → Backstab combo. Stealth is just a kinda kitten defensive abilities with all the AE that gets thrown around. As squishy Dagger/Dagger you have to go in, kill something and out. Also against better players you are usually fried if you don’t have steal ready The change would make the frontburst less but the sustain in a combat better, just because you can make the combo more often.

You can’t base that on classes… A squishy thief is much harder to play than a sustain-ele, while a tanky thief is much easier to play than a burst-ele.

Uhm, they aren’t good anyway. Ogre or Scholar are just as good if not much better. For a heavy might-class (like warrior), strength are also very good (if not better).

Every class has sustain and without a low TTK the duels would go on forever. IF you want a very tanky class which can’t die, pick sustain-elementalist.

EDIT: I mean, bunker vs bunker-fights are by far the most boring thing I have ever played. Remindes me of Druid/Warrior vs Priest/Rogue in burning crusade… I don’t even want to know how long a high rated match of druid/warrior vs druid/warrior took.

EDIT2: I have to say a duel between two squishy dagger/dagger thieves are amazing. The whole duel bases around perfectly timed doges and perfectly used teleports. Though every squishy vs squishy is very intense and amazing to play.
