Either your ques are totally crapped out right now (considering multiple members of my guild are getting in before me even though they qued after me) or you need to make an adjustment to how wvw and pop caps work.

To me, it makes no sense to have the longest ques in the best wvw servers. You penalize players that want to play against the best by making them sick of having to wait just to play the game.

For the love of god, please fix this.

When the queues are working normally, you have longer queues on higher tiers because there are more people who want to WvW. (not coincidentally why they’re in a higher tier). That part makes sense. They’re not going to give higher tier servers a larger population cap than everyone else.

Having queues for a map where your server has the outmanned buff on the other hand does not make any sense. I’ve been in queue for over an hour for a borderlands that has my guild (maybe 25-30 people tops) and a handful of pugs following them in it. Not even sentry points are being flipped elsewhere on the map. Something is fubar and needs to be fixed asap. Like preferably yesterday.

9/10 — first time participants are always welcome. Good selection of background and tasteful accentuation of one’s own features. The choice of scoreboard placement makes it easy for viewers to clearly interpret the score as it stands, and does not detract from the overall presentation. The addition of a map is an often overlooked feature that rounds everything out nicely.

One point was subtracted because the veteran guard in the background is highlighted, which distracts the eye. NPCs should blend into the background in future images, as they are ultimately part of the backdrop, not the ‘main course’.

The lack of proper siege feng shui would have lost you another point if not for the presence of the asura Eek Kee. His name — clearly an onomatopoeia expressing shock and embarrassment — pairs well with his actions, as he rapidly averts his eyes away from your bare form.

I don’t believe you understand what the phrase, “next time,” actually means. You will not go very far, young one.

‘Daily Crafter’? Really? I got Master Crafter about 2 months ago – I haven’t crafted a single thing since then. Now I need to craft 10 items every day for the daily achievement? Please. I used to enjoy my dailies, now it’s pointless even logging on anymore. Guys, you really need to do a bit of homework before just making masses of blanket changes. Pandas look sexier each day…

No. You don’t have to craft 10 items every day. I didn’t have to craft anything yesterday.

I presume you also never did the earlier dailies as you had to gather? (why gather if you don’t want to use it?) Oh, you sold those items? Then what’s stopping you from crafting some planks from logs or ingots from ore before selling? Or even make some foodstuff you can use yourself?

That’s no fun, how can he whine on the forums if he uses his brain like that? Come on man, you’ve gotta think!

If everyone spent 10 minutes in game completing the daily instead of typing up a whiny post about how long the new achievements take and how boring and grindy and repetitive they are (when the old ones were worse with the possible exception of the resurrection count one) then this thread would be like 2 pages long.

inb4 they “balance” d/d eles for sPvP and make them not viable in WvW anymore. :/

I don’t want to go back to a long range staff build (especially if they’re nerfing aoes across the board), but focus is pretty worthless for WvW, and most of the skills with “insane burst”on d/d are on the offhand.

churning earth: 5k damage on a crit on a 4 second channel in melee range, which most people have learned to dodge in WvW even after the ele uses lightning flash to move back into range after they WALK out of the circle (not sure why spvp people can’t handle learning to dodge) = insane burst? [sarcasm]yup, sounds like insane burst to me[/sarcasm]

A good (read as: lucky) thief could down me through 1800 toughness and 20k hp before churning earth even finished casting. If I forget to use armor of earth (or it’s still on cooldown) all it takes is a stun/fear/knockback/daze/etc. from anyone and my channel is cancelled and churning earth goes on cooldown.

Before anyone freaks out about me bringing wvw into this, this is the elementalist forum, not the spvp forum. And a proposed blanket nerf to d/d elementalists and AoE in general would affect us everywhere (not just in spvp) unless they finally wise up and realize they need to split skills for spvp and wvw/pve (and possibly even split between wvw and pve) if they ever hope to balance spvp without killing the rest of the game.

We should get to choose what voice we like on every race in my opinion each Charm/Dignity/Ferocity should have a different voice ranging from slightly girly-deep and commanding. So everyone gets what they want.

If they had done that we’d still be waiting for the game to release because they’d still be recording voice work (if they didn’t go bankrupt from needing to pay all of the extra voice actors), and god only knows how bad they’d all be if they tried to cut costs to force the multiple options in (example: aion 2.0’s NPCs, I swear they just made random people from the office do some of those) so I’m a-ok with all of the voices as they are.

1 “ok” voice that fits the race (generic/stereotypical or otherwise) > 3 different terrible voices that don’t fit the race at all > game still not being released because they’re wasting their time and money recording the same soundbites over and over and over again in different voices. There’s so many lines I’m sure any dev who read the suggestion of recording everything 3(?) times per race per gender is crying in a corner in the fetal position right now. :P

I’m pretty sure my Norn female doesn’t lack emotion when sometimes she screams “DIE!!” when engaging an enemy.

“FIGHT ME!”

Both of those beat the hell out of hearing “I can outrun a centaur!” every 15 seconds.

I’d rather see the male norn less freakishly huge than see the females larger.

Female norns look like they did in gw1, if not slightly larger (i.e. how they should look). If your barbie doll looks like a female norn, your barbie doll was accidentally made with somewhat realistic proportions.

Male norns look like 2 gw1 male norn glued together. I understand they didn’t want norn to “just be big humans”, but the proportions of the male norns are absurd. They don’t even look like the same species as the gw1 MALE norn, forget comparing them to females from either game.

tl;dr: I’d rather see the male norn turned back into norn instead of misshapen roid monsters than see the females turned into misshapen roid monsters with boobs.

WvW gameplay in different tiers?

WvW is only one aspect of the entire game. If you prefer that as your choice of playtime, then you will have multiple servers to choose from. What I think is important to consider is what is gameplay like outside of WvW …. Nothing more of a let down than deciding you want to take a break from WvW and find map after map a virtual ghost town.

WvW is the only thing you can’t just guest onto a different server’s map for though (assuming it actually works on monday like it’s supposed to), so the other stuff is kind of irrelevant in picking your home server.

This adds a new tactic to WvW. “Kill them with kindness”. Send your entire server to the forums to compliment the other 2 servers, wait for them to pass out, and capture the entire WvW map.

How To Counter Ele As A Zerg?

How can a zerg counter x4 Ele’s, I know the 4 Ele’s used a choke point but shouldn’t a zerg be able to win?

Depends on your definition of “zerg”. To me it means a bunch or players lumped together who are typically under-geared and under leveled and who lack much skill on an individual basis. All of this plus little to no true “organization” in the blob.

If your definition is the same as mine, then most emphatically, NO. A small group of highly coordinated players should win vs a zerg every time.

Using tactics such as:

Extending – causing players to chase such that the faster, more mobile players outrun their support and are, consequently, much easier to kill

Choke Points – commonly used by coordinated AoE specialized parties to lump the zerg into as tight a formation as possible.

Target Assisting – parties assign a “Main Assists” who is responsible for calling out targets that the rest all focus on with him, ensuring the target dies

These are just a few tactics that a small coordianted group is able to use to wipe a zerg. Zergs, on the other hand are quite simply are not capable of using these. (With one exception maybe being choke points, but organizing any zerg to use any of these is like herding cats).

Mindless zergs should always, always, always, ALWAYS lose against a coordinated group with good positioning. I don’t care if it’s 166 on 4, if the 166 are standing stationary in a chokepoint covered in AoE instead of using a tactic as simple as charging (aoe caps at 5 targets, half of that zerg would have reached them with full hp if they just ran at them), they all deserve to die.

2This is the problem: People using aoes effectively against single targets when they have the OPTION of single target attacks. (staff ele does not qualify, staff necro does not qualify, thief shortbow qualifies)

3So Terra, do you think clusterbombs usefulness compared to other shortbow abilities should be addressed? Right now its more efficient for the thief to clusterbomb a downed enemy than it is to attempt a finish as a shortbow thief, while doing large amounts of damage to anyone attempting a res.

1. My “pointless overreaction” (and only ~1/8 of my post that you stopped reading after the first 3 sentences) was just me expressing concern that they (arenanet) are going to nerf all aoes that “hit too hard” (which is basically what their post implies), essentially rendering thieves unkillable and zergs unstoppable in WvW. As someone who barely plays any element of the game besides WvW, the potential nullification of any factor besides sheer numbers in WvW is of concern to me.

2. I’m not sure what makes a shortbow thief qualify as having the option of single target damage when the other 2 on your list don’t (their only single target skill is disabling shot). Little confused by this example. Would also like to add (again) that elementalists in general don’t really qualify as having the option of single target damage. Doesn’t matter what weapon set they have on.

3. EVERY profession is better off attacking a downed player to death (preferably from range) rather than stomping them in WvW unless they have quickness. It’s safer, if enough people are doing it (there usually are) it’s faster, and it’s a hell of a lot harder for them to interrupt you. I’m not sure I understand why cluster bomb was singled out when it’s really not that different from every other profession’s ranged aoe options.

What arenanet needs to do is fix culling and the excessive particle effects obstructing view, and see how AoE plays out when we can actually see what’s hitting us. THEN if it’s STILL a problem worry about a nerf to AoE.

Elementalists: If you nerf all of our AoEs to the point of uselessness (what usually happens when you nerf things), what are we supposed to do besides reroll? Our closest weapon set to a single target damage set is scepter/focus, and even then 7 of 20 (35%) of the skills are AoEs. I understand we’re not the only profession affected, but we literally have zero true single target options when picking a weapon set.

Thieves: There goes the only counter to perma stealth. Guess that’s what all of the displaced elementalists will reroll to, because lord knows that more glass cannon thieves 2-shotting each other from stealth is what we need in WvW.

WvW in general: Well placed aoes with good positioning can allow a smaller force to hold off (and possibly even rout) a larger force that just blindly runs facefirst into a choke point. If you force everyone into using single target damage, it’s just a matter of time before the mindless horde spikes the smaller, but organized, guild into the ground 1 by 1. Essentially turning it into a case of “the biggest zerg always wins”, which is already a problem (a group of 20 stands no chance against a group of 60. Mainly because the AoE cap of 5 and its seemingly random target selection makes it so the group of 60 can meander aimlessly into a chokepoint guarded by the group of 20 and 40+ of them will make it through unscathed [and most of the other 20 will still be alive] and trample the smaller group.)

This is a terrible design choice if you go through with it, and would shake (if not destroy) my faith in arenanet. Instant loss of respect for any developer who guts strategy from pvp because a very, very, very small minority (I’ve seen zero, so I don’t even know where this idea came from) is whining that they have to think too hard.

“Dodge roll out of the red circle that gives me a 3 second warning? Change target to the light armor class with incredibly low base hp standing on top of me and make them run away to live? No! Nerf aoes so I don’t have to, and can remain stationary while spiking down 1 person with my 1337 glass cannon build instead!”

The only AoE that needs to be nerfed is arrow carts, and I’m starting to wonder if that’s the only AoE you’re not going to “fix”.

If by “Bearform” You mean getting hammered, killing armies worth of charr/destroyers/monsters in general with a group of 1-5 (with the player character and their party) while they turned into bears every 5 mins or so, then bragging about it to everyone they knew (and everyone they didn’t know) then you’d be right. Norn have always been different from humans in more ways than just “oh they turn into bears and they’re really tall.”

Back to the skill itself… 4 minutes is not an unreasonable cooldown for an elite skill that buffs the hell out of your hp, toughness, and power, which grants a ridiculously long range sprint (it’s basically back to back “ride the lightning”s), and is usable in WvW. It’s pretty much THE best zerg escape or chasing skill (has a knockback when you reach your target if you’re chasing, and it generally runs PAST them and actually knocks them backwards) except for maybe snow leopard form (less hp, but has stealth and the ridiculous sprint is on a 10 second CD instead of 15.)

Slightly lower cooldown in PvE might be ok. Maybe 3 minutes instead of 4 to bring it in line with most of the other elite skills, in WvW it needs a longer CD if anything, not a shorter one.

The skills are useless,good luck running into that zerg being able to hit some people maybe knock some down and then get killed.Honestly i have more luck surviving something like that when i pop stabitlity and endure pain,running into it while transformed is a suicide run,and unless you have 10 people doing it at the same time,it’s not worth it.

Today I learned escaping = running towards the zerg. Never knew.

“Chasing” is what it implies, not charging headlong into a zerg that isn’t running away. If someone (or a few someones) are running away, you have a (guessing here) 2400+ range sprint with a knockback to catch at least one of them. Shortbow thieves can’t do that (until they get enough initiative for a third infiltrator’s arrow). dagger/dagger eles with lightning flash can’t do that. Only bear form and snow leopard form can close that much distance that fast. You can easily catch someone who’s out of vision range in about 2-3 seconds and knock them back.

Now, get a shortbow thief or a dagger/dagger ele who ALSO has bear form and you can run even farther (transform, sprint, end transform, profession-specific gap closers, congrats you’re like 1/4 of the way across the borderlands in 4 seconds.

I never said running into the zerg transformed was a good idea. I don’t even like running into the zerg as a tornado (which blinds the people it hits).

I also haven’t used the transforms ever since joining a guild that actually pushes into melee range (which actually makes tornado usable) since there’s usually no reason to run away (it’s like 3 silver for dying, I only brought the transforms before because the other options for ele are all melee range and my entire old guild stayed at range 100% of the time), but the transforms are OP for running away from a zerg, chasing down a single person, or just covering ground obscenely fast. Useless for everything else, but almost too useful for those things. You put that sucker on a 30 second CD and I’d slot it again in a heartbeat. 2 minutes and I’d still consider it.

And I tried a human ele in the betas. Loved ele (still my main). “I CAN OUTRUN A CENTAUR!” every time I gave myself swiftness (about every 15-20 seconds.) pretty much cancelled out any nostalgia for the human voice acting (the only thing making me even consider not-norn for my main).

I don’t know who else feels this way but elementalist traits can’t make their mind. Most people get the feeling arcane trait line is all about attunement switching and getting a different spell out of a skill depending on the attunement we are on, while the other trait lines are about specializing in a specific element, making you being the most effective the longer you stay on it.

As it works now though, we have glyphs (which are our goto attunement based spell) not event touched by the arcana trait line (and now this falling damage one) or we have the master minor traits the reward us for switching INTO the attunement we specialize, but then it forces me to leave it so i can actually benefit from it. I’m constantly getting confusing signals from traits that want me to stay in one attunement but then they don’t.

I feel all this traits are too spread out, there’s no consistency. It would be better if they make all the first 10 point element specific minor and adept traits attunement dancing friendly, then make the 20 minor and master traits more inline with their over all theme (but still attunement dancing friendly) and finally the 30 traits should reward you handsomely for staying in one element. To be honest even then i wouldn’t take the 30 point traits but arcana because with 15 sec attunement swap and elementalist clearly being balanced around swapping it would still be mediocre.

Not to be rude, but if you’re not swapping attunements regularly, you’re hobbling yourself. There isn’t (and shouldn’t be) a build you could make where you would be “most effective” by never swapping attunements. The autoattack skills are almost always worse than some other attunement’s 2-5 skills at doing whatever you’re trying to do, so when that’s the only thing not on cooldown, it’s time to swap attunements.

Not swapping attunements on a regular basis is along the same lines as a warrior not using their adrenaline skill or a necromancer not using death shroud. It’s there, it makes you more effective, use it. Please.

Every time an elementalist sits in one attunement through an entire dungeon/night of WvW/sPvP match, Rytlock Brimstone kills a quaggan. Think of the quaggans!

OMFG! When they make suspense in LS event and get all the problems because people thought that the only one event was only a cinematic there are a torrent of players whining about ANET not informing them.

Now they inform people about what will be for them so they adjust their times and be in the events then people whine because they are telling too much.

ACH! when people will stop to be so annoying?

You read maybe the opening sentence of my thread and then replied…let me summarise for you:

Its okay to give the location and time of events and its okay to give away things such as ‘Mr xyz is visiting zyx at —:--’ because those things, in terms of realism, can be explained. But why give away the exact activities? The only reason is to bring the maximum amount of people into the game but surely keeping it more of a secret will bring in just as many people? You’ll get people moaning about the event either way (which shouldnt happen if its good). I dont see the point in giving huge spoilers.

How is telling you there will be toys in the toymaker’s toy factory HUGE spoilers or the EXACT events? I think I’m still missing something here.

So many human females…

I was about 50/50 between human female ele or norn female ele until playing the first 2 betas as a human female ele (and the third as a norn). Heard that line EVERY time I went into air attunement or used a skill that gave swiftness. Sometimes when I hear a human yell it I’m afraid they decided to add that line to norn and it’s me.

After 6 days of “I can outrun a centaur!” every roughly 30-40 seconds, I honestly couldn’t tell you what my norn says aside from “whatever she says, it’s significantly less obnoxious than ‘I can outrun a centaur!’.” Kind of a shame too, the human female voice made me nostalgic for gw1 otherwise.

Jumping puzzle, Snowball Fight, Random musical bell thing, Weapon skins, Armor skins.

Tixx shows up in The Grove and has a toy. Tixx shows up in Divinity’s Reach and has a different toy. Tixx shows up in The Black Citadel and has a different toy. Tixx shows up in Hoelbrak and has a different toy. Tixx shows up in Rata Sum and has a different toy. Tixx shows up in Lion’s arch and the toys rebel.

Aside from the last one, the details are incredibly vague. If knowing there will be new skins (spoiler: there will probably be new skins for EVERY holiday) or knowing where Tixx will be on each day “ruins the event” for you, you have a problem. Go outside, get some fresh air, and try to calm down. Everything will be ok, I promise.

TL;DR: In the words of Mr. Schwarzenegger, “Stop whining!”

Norn arent happy underwater

Norn have been around since 2007. It’s not like they’re a brand new race that didn’t exist in GW(1). Most of the female norn NPCs in GW1 look like the female norn in GW2. If anything, the males are the ones that don’t look like norn are “supposed to”.

I’m not saying you can’t ask for more options, but saying the current options are “wrong” or “not muscled/rugged enough” for a norn when the females of the race have looked like Jora or Sif Shadowhunter (a warrior and a ranger respectively, not even casters) since norn were first created is a little ridiculous.

I’m more worried about the achievement/title than the other stuff. I can’t watch “the party” on youtube later to get the last achievement for the title.

The one time event is most likely another cutscene, which you CAN watch later. If you’re missing the OTHER achievements, it’s your own fault, you’ve had close to a week to work on most of them, and they don’t take very long. the skins you probably won’t get as a drop anyway, so an extension wouldn’t help there. However, a large number of people (I’m not talking percentage, I’m just talking raw numbers) missing the entirety of act 4 because of mass week+ long power outages and not getting a title they’ve earned as much of as arenanet will allow would warrant an extension in my book.

Even if they only extended act 4 and shut the first 3 acts down on schedule, I’d be happy. Hell, I’d be happy with just having an NPC who sits around lion’s arch for a week who tells you about the party and gives you the achievement for it so people who were without power for a week (or more) could get their titles.

For the people essentially telling others to “shut up and prepare for your hurricane”: If they’re not already prepared, they’re pretty much screwed. You SHOULD be at the “sit someplace safe and wait for your power and/or internet to go out” stage of “preparing”.

There’s really no reason for them NOT to offer a way for the people who lose power to get the last achievement, aside from forum dwellers enjoying other people’s pain.

$25 visa gift card, would like to buy $25 (or $35) worth of gems

I have a $25 (visa) gift card, and had planned on buying $25 worth of gems, however… there’s only a $10, $20, $35, and $50 option.

Is there a way for me to combine the card with another card to buy $35 worth (so I don’t end up with $5 left on one of these cards that’s impossible to spend outside of the internet because no one knows how to put them into their registers. -_-)?

I would try to just enter the card to see if there’s a way to enter a second card, but I really don’t want to risk the transaction going through with just the gift card and arenanet treating it as me trying to scam them out of $10.

Seeing map/armors/stuck/weapons or other art issues?

Race: Norn
Gender: Female
Profession: irrelevant, it happens with the light, medium, AND heavy versions
Armor: Heavenly bracers and fire god vambraces (both have the same issue. with all 3 armor classes). I removed all of the other armor, so it isn’t some other piece that’s causing it to behave this way.

Issue: Judging from how they look on my human character (they don’t clip on her), it appears that there are supposed to be 2 sections to each of these gloves. One that moves with the hand and one that stays anchored on the forearm, both of which move when your character’s arm/hand moves. On my norn characters… that doesn’t happen. It’s just one solid block which stays anchored on the forearm. So the hand part clips through my characters’ hands every time their hands move.

They go from being 2 of my favorite glove skins to being 2 of the worst, because there’s just jagged edges sticking out of my character’s hands instead of them being gloves. :/

The last 2 screenshots (the woman without the red norn tattoos) is my human, for reference to show the difference.

This probably has been already said in here, and sorry if i’m repeating, but i think this is important because it is confusing the sellers.

The problem is: The trading post is stealing our gold!

With this i mean that when we are selling something we have to pay posting fee (~5% of the selling price). It shows also the value that you will get when the items are sold.
However, this is not happening because after they have been sold we get a lower value (cut in ~10%) than we should receive like it was shown when we put the items for sell.

So, someone is stealing our gold! Please fix this!

PS: I think the one who developed the Trading Post is a Skritt descendant! -_-

It charges a 5% posting fee, and a 10% fee on successful sale. That’s been explained multiple times already. I don’t like it, but it’s not a bug.

It is however stealing people’s money. And I mean all of it, not 15% of it. I finally got a reply to my support ticket that I submitted on Friday and they’re acting like I’m looking for a refund for a vendor purchase, which is not the case at all.

I’m not entirely sure how you would go about asking for a “refund” for theft, but I’m going to keep asking for one until I get one, or at least get a response to my ticket instead of a generic response where they lump me in with a completely separate issue. >:(

Trading post has been working fine for me, aside from Thursday night when it stole roughly 1 gold, 95 silver from me. Unlike the people who “lost” money yesterday, it was not delivered half an hour later. It has been 104 hours and I still don’t have it back, or any sort of response to my support ticket…

attempt to buy item -> doesn’t go through -> log out to go to sleep with over 2 gold in inventory -> log back in and have 37 silver in inventory and no items or money in the pickup tab in the trading post-> submit support ticket and bug report -> no response for over 48 hours -> also post on forums -> no response for an additional 56 hours.

What gives? NPCs shouldn’t be able to scam people out of their money, and arenanet shouldn’t be ignoring those of us who lost money this way.

Thursday night when the trading post was down, it “came up” before I went to sleep. By “came up” I mean it allowed me to search for items to buy, type in the quantity I wanted to buy, click “buy”, and then took the my money out of my inventory, and… that’s it.

No items in my pick up box, the ~1 gold and 95 silver also not in my pick up box. I submitted a bug report and a support email and have received no response whatsoever in over 48 hours, (aside from the “someone will be reviewing your ticket shortly*” auto-reply). so I’m posting here too.

I find it kind of ironic that the only time I’ve ever been scammed out of money in an mmorpg in over 10 years was by the NPCs and a bugged out trading post, but it’s really not amusing enough to not want it back.

Bear form used to be better for WvW due to a massive hp pool, but that got stealth nerfed (not in the patch notes) last night, so…. All hail snow leopard I guess.

Should just let us stick a normal utility slot in our elite slot. I’d be better off with mist form or cleansing fire in WvW than any of the ele/norn elites now. (lol@melee range in WvW as an elementalist without 50k+ hp from bear form)
