I did some rough testing in WvW (let some ice drakes chill me), and it appears that it does work, but that it only cleanses cripple, chill, and immobilize.
Which is: 1. Not what the trait text says it does, and 2. Really not all that great.
I actually did 2-3 tribulation for the first time yesterday (with the slippery ice bug). I thought it was busted, since I had to turn on “walk” to not go flying into the spikes just from tapping a direction lightly, but I was too far to turn around.
Was actually on here to thank whoever fixed this as well. Hopefully I can do that kitten room with the spikes in under 100 lives today. (whoever designed that room is EEEEVIL, but I love you anyway)
Nice to see a long requested item back for sale.
Feeling sorry for anyone whose self worth is tied up in a gem store purchase from 3 years ago.
#Itsonlyagame #Seekhelp #FindsumBunnytolovemaybetheywillloveyoubackRead closely. I’m not only thinking about one item. I’m just guessing that they might as well re-release the fused weapon skins. Or re-implement other stuff that has been exclusive before(Season 1 minis, karka-hatchlings…)
Not exactly what I’d like to see, but if(!) the majority wants it that way then there is nothing one can do about it.My personal opinion on this is, that rare and exclusive items are really important for a good game. The gw2 celebration hat for example is quite rare to see in cities. (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Celebration_Hat)
Its cool to see a character wearing it once in a while, but it would be certainly less special if you’d find atleast one infront of a bank everytime you visit a city.
Or finding a hardcore charr with metalplates, spikes – and pink bunny ears.
They will be now more common and just take a look at the gemprices…But hey, thats just my opinion on it. If the majority of the community wants certain items back I can’t blame arenanet for their decisions.
I hope you understand my point of view,
happy easter.
rare/exclusive: The only reason bunny ears and the sunglasses were ever “rare” and “exclusive” is that they were only ever previously sold as town clothes. Most people didn’t use town clothes at all, so they didn’t buy town clothes skins.
“support from the start”: See first point. I’ve been around since launch as well, and have dumped… probably a few hundred dollars on gems for a handful of skins and some convenience items, a lot of which was when the ears/aviators/sport sunglasses were still in the gem store (bag/bank slots). I would have bought the ears and both sunglasses in a heartbeat (and did today with the ears) if they were helmet skins instead of town clothes (which I never used). The only thing that realistically shows you were around to support the game at the start is the baseball cap. The other items only show that you used town clothes enough to buy some at ~200 gems a pop at some point in the first 16 months the game was around (which isn’t really even still the start).
Immersion: Please. There’s been a bow that shoots unicorns, a disco ball mace, etc. since launch, feathery wings everywhere, people turning into various creatures at random (tonics)… “immersion” is loooooong gone. A set of bunny ears or a pair of sunglasses is barely noticeable compared to most of the stuff that goes on on a regular basis.
Honestly the ears don’t fit any of my characters’ current looks, but I bought them anyway in case I want to use them in the future (and in the hopes that high sales on these will convince them to actually bring back the sunglasses too if they’re still on the fence, since those do fit both of my mains)
See attached.
Crusader’s and Marauder’s were both options when it had the exotic-tier stats (which many people, myself included, assumed would continue to be options when the stats were fixed), and those options no longer appear.
I get it, it’s salt, you’re making us more salty by releasing it broken and then removing stat selections when you “fix” it. Ha. ha. ha… sobs
Side note: I’m kind of curious what happened if people picked those stats before the fix.

The stats are getting fixed.

Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

1. 40 hero points from the new zones is hardly a “massive grind”.
2. if they’re behind masteries, masteries are account bound, so you only need to do those once.
3. If the new points are a massive pain in the tuckus, you can do 10 of the old ones in like 3 minutes instead, or just get them through WvW.
4. Presumably the unique weapon and armor skins are last, so you won’t even need the full 400 for the traits and skills.
You people are acting like you’re being tied to your chairs and forced to max out all masteries on every character (even though they’re account bound), and then do 400 hero challenges. If you have all current ones you need 19. If you have none you need 40 and never play that character anyway. Soooo grindy.
/popcorn
Part of the obsession with the bunny ears and aviators is simply the shenanigans they pulled with them. A large amount of people who would have bought them if they were helm skins didn’t buy them when they were town clothes (if you didn’t rp you basically never used town clothes). And they’ve NEVER been offered for sale as helm skins.
It’s like if they sold real aviators originally as doll clothes, pulled them from the shelves because only people who played with dolls and wanted aviators on their dolls bought any so they weren’t selling well, then turned around 5 months later and sent everyone who had bought doll aviators real ones and somehow magically made it impossible to sell/give them to anyone, and then ignored the people going “wow those are cool, I would buy those in a heartbeat” for 2 years. :|
Arenanet hates money, confirmed.
Still waiting for bunny ears/aviators/whatever else they removed before making them helm skins. Only been almost 2 years.
I think whoever came up with the idea of town clothes is blocking them out of spite because their idea got scrapped at this point. :|
noo exclusive items should be exclusive !
Exclusive items with a legitimate reason to be exclusive (event items, the baseball hat from launch, etc.) should be exclusive.
Items that are only exclusive because the company changed their functionality from something completely useless (town clothes), to something people would actually use (helm skins) AFTER removing the ability to purchase them is not a valid reason for them to be “exclusive”. (bunny ears, both sunglasses skins, wide rimmed glasses)
And is also complete BS. =|
Also makes no sense. They’re sittting on a pile of potential free money, and just continuing to sit on it, waiting for… not sure what.
I might actually cry if they add this before they re-add the bunny ears and sunglasses.
Which they changed the functionality of AFTER they removed them. >=|
So wait, thieves get fury for 4s on a 10s cd for hitting people below 90% hp? (basically everyone), does it shut back off at some point or do they just spam fury on themselves?
The short answer is: The majority of our guilds either left or disbanded, and the people who are left believe that we would be better off in T3.
I wouldn’t count Maguuma out yet though. Some of the people who are still here are avoiding PPT (moreso than usual) in the hopes that we can drop to T3 faster, since fighting T2 blobs is mostly a lost cause until/unless we get some fresh blood.
tl;dr: Maguuma is definitely hurting bad right now, but might not be quite as dead as it looks. We won’t know for sure until we drop tiers.
Please no, last thing we need is achievements where 60 randoms where you have no control over need to work together.
We already have (or had) those. Tequatl, the great jungle wurm, the marionette(s)…
Actually this thread was about 6 people trying to zerg down a warrior who escaped. Then a bunch of people started to complain about everything else they felt was strong for the warrior class.
Yet there are classes and builds that are capable of beating warriors in a stand up fight if he doesn’t disengage.
L2p/suckitup
Move on to a new target if the warrior won’t finish the fight. Nuff said.
“if he doesn’t disengage”
Exactly. That’s the problem. The tanky, heavy armor, frontline class who almost out-regens the other classes’ sustain builds while afk, and successfully facetanks 3 or more people at once, isn’t supposed to be the one who has to make the decision to disengage.
Well since I’ve already done this a few times, and I am getting very tired of your silliness. I’ll give you a shorter reply this time. Maybe if I keep it simpler you’ll have an easier time with it.
I enjoy the ad hominem jabs at my intelligence, please feed me more.
Engineer can do the same exact amount of condi reduction as you posted. But with condi buffing food you can still apply conditions to them (still with decent durations I might add). You said 100% immunity, which it is not.
Eles can as well, but both require 20 points and do nothing else, whereas warrior requires 10 and gets regen. Neither of those classes can make the mad 3100+ range dash out of combat while immune to immobilize either, so it’s really not the same. 98% reduction on the longest duration immobilize available (4 seconds, only available to warriors or thieves) turns it into 0.08 (8/100) seconds. Yes, I rounded initially, but for all intents and purposes, that’s immunity. Condition duration food makes it possible to partially counter the immunity to immobilize…. unless they also have mobile strikes (which they do if they’re specced for running)
I never said it was swiftness outside of combat.
Yes, yes you did. Right here:
4. As a thief you have Signet of shadows, which is perma swiftness in combat, and close to perma outside of combat.
“Close to perma”, not “close to swiftness”.
In fact, several times I said it wasn’t.
Where?
But why are you out of combat if you’re trying to kill a warrior? Sorry, but if he wen’t out of combat, you already lost the chase. He can teleport to a waypoint at any time he likes.
That’s the point… We were saying warriors shouldn’t be able to sprint to become out of combat so quickly/easily. Thank you for supporting my side of the argument.
If you really want to be specific, you said best regen, not best passive regen. But the point still stands, to have the BEST regen in the game with warrior you must have regen banners, in addition to heal sig and adrenal health.
Self regen, passive regen, regen, doesn’t matter, warriors still have the best by a long shot. I already broke it down for you. Math doesn’t lie. The only thing a warrior needs to do to have better self-regen than any other profession in the game, regardless of build, is slap a signet in their heal slot and dump 15 points into the defense tree. Saying another warrior with a different build could have even better regen is supporting my point, not yours (again).
Which a warrior running away with GS/Sword warhorn doesn’t have.
Why don’t they? It’s 15 trait points and a signet, they get CC reduction and extra regen out of it. Sounds perfect for a trolly running away build to me. Obviously they don’t have regen or banners, because they don’t need them to have better regen than everyone else anyway.
I wasn’t saying they don’t have a lot of regen, you simply said the best regen, which was false. If you had said “Those warriors running away with banners have the best regen in the game” I would have agreed with you! You also forgot about engineer and ranger non-boon regens, even thief, oh and now mesmer.
1. It was true. Math. See above. 2. Someone else already pointed out that heal signet alone is better than all of the extras you listed (all of which require some sort of input on the part of the player)
Are you fairly new to GW2?
You keep trying to change what you’ve said to make yourself sound better.
P.S. I enjoyed the humor points at the bottom It’s nice that you’re able to keep a sense of humor through all of this. I’d call it a debate, but that assumes your side is making any kind of point.
Hooray, moar ad hominem. Thank you sir, it’s delicious.
snip
snip (wall of text too long with quotes :/)
First, I did read everything you wrote. Just because you’re wrong doesn’t mean I ignored some major point in your post that makes you right.
1. I played a guardian for several months, whose ONLY teleports require targets. I can assure you there are most certainly not always distant targets to port away to. Even if there are, if it’s in range you put yourself in combat by using them and don’t go the full distance. The point is it’s not as reliable. There are times when there are no targets within render distance in the direction you want to go, and during those times, a warrior can still cover their full 3k+ distance almost immediately in whatever direction they want, without putting themselves back in combat. You can’t just lump skills that require targets and skills that don’t into one pile and call them even.
2. You’re not reading my point on this one. The only way a thief doesn’t burn any initiative while fighting is if they spam autoattack. Even with full initiative, and traiting for a bigger initiative pool, they can only “spam” infiltrator’s arrow twice OR heartseeker 4 times. Either one covers the same distance as just rush + bull’s charge. Using attacks besides autoattack is hardly “wasting” initiative.
3. Dogged March is 33% reduction on cripple, chill, and immobilize. lemongrass poultry soup is 40% reduction on all conditions, runes of melandru provide another 25%. If you use all 3 you have a 98% reduction in the duration of immobilize, chill, and cripple. Which means you’ll basically take a stutter step for some tiny fraction of a second before going back to being in a full sprint.
4. Perma swiftness in-combat and “almost swiftness” outside of combat is still not the same as perma swiftness. I’m an ele. I have actual perma swiftness. If nobody uses leaps or teleports I outrun a thief because I’m running 8% faster outside of combat. Swiftness > almost swiftness. “Almost perma-swiftness” and “perma-almost-swiftness” aren’t the same thing, and it’s not semantics, it actually changes the meaning of the statement. I can only read what you said, not what you think you said.
5. Warriors have the best passive regen, followed by guardians, followed by eles, followed by everyone else. Every profession has access to the “regeneration” boon. Warrior, ele, and guardian are the only ones with additional regen-like effects. At 0 healing power, warrior signet alone is more regen than traited virtue of resolve, soothing mist, and the regeneration boon combined. With 1k healing power, the trait, and the regeneration boon a guardian only outheals a 0 healing power warrior with a signet by 40 hp/s. An ele with 1k healing power, soothing mist, and the regeneration boon is still 7 hp/s behind the 0 healing power warrior with a signet. Adrenal health would theoretically be another 42-120 hp/s at 0 healing power (except you need 15 points in the healing power line to take it). Warriors. Have. The. Best. Passive. Regen. By. Far.
Bonus: You got me, they only have 98% passive immunity to immobilize, not 100%. My bad, shouldn’t have rounded.
“Cross-map speed” is what got ride the lightning nerfed (despite the fact that warriors already had better cross map speed than eles). It’s terrible for “mobility”. What makes rush so different that it should keep the unconditional 20s cd?
For fun: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fallacies
1. Appeal to probability: Can’t take it for granted that mobs will always be around. If they’re not there 100% of the time (protip: they’re not), it can’t be assumed.
2. Inconsistent comparison: Thief weapon skills share an initiative pool, warrior skills do not, apples to oranges.
3. Incomplete comparison: Ignored stacking with runes and food. Dogged march is only 1/3 of the equation.
4. Ad Hominem: You tried to make it sound like I didn’t read (or didn’t understand) your point, and don’t know what the in-combat movement cap is, rather than arguing against my point.
5. Shifting the burden of proof: You can’t just say that warriors don’t have the best passive regen, dismiss the comparison against the class with the second best regen, accuse me of changing my argument because I offered said comparison, not name a class that has better, and expect me to go away.
Mobility vs. land-speed = Equivocation AND straw man: Mobility could refer to “in combat mobility” or “land speed”. Most of the people saying “warrior mobility is fine” are glossing over which one the OP was referring to (land-speed), pretending he meant in combat mobility (equivocation), and arguing against that instead (straw man).
The trade off for using sword/GS is a lack of CC and lower damage output.
Just use GS and you’ve still got the second best mobility. Frees up your other weapon slot. I know it’s easier to say it’s not OP by forcing the example to use both sword AND greatsword, but just greatsword is plenty.
And who says Guardians can’t have mobility, do they not have a greatsword? They can actually have decent mobility if they have greatsword
^ lol this guy. Guardian greatsword has a single 600 range leap on a 15s cd. That’s still pretty awful mobility.
they can teleport using one of their meditations or using a sword albeit it needs a target, which really aren’t hard to find in WvW.
Neither of which is reliable for escape. Warrior mobility goes into AND out of fights. Guardian mobility does not.
Warrior is an all in one profession yet we don’t rely on mechanics such as clones, stealth, amazing boon generation, other AI, dodges on demand, amazing healing (unless you spec into shouts for at most decent healing), putting 1000 conditions on ppl. Most of our skills are so telegraphed it isn’t even funny.
No, you just rely on high armor, high hp, high passive regen, great condition removal, absurd mobility, and borderline immunity to cc (all on the same build) instead. Poor warriors. How do they survive?
I think what upsets people is that Mobility is…or at least was originally…a defining aspect of the Thief and Elementalist classes. And while these classes are plenty mobile it irks them that somehow Warriors ended up being the fastest, practically out of accident.
What bothers me about it is that thieves and eles were so mobile to compensate for how squishy they are. Warriors are the opposite of squishy. Even full glass warriors are sitting on par with an ele that has 500+ bonus vit and 300+ bonus toughness.
It also bothers me that they have better “land speed” than my d/d ele just by slapping a gs on one of their weapon sets.
And most importantly, they nerfed rtl because they didn’t want anyone to be more mobile then thieves, yet rush was untouched. It’s kind of a double standard.
Easy fix, nerf GS #5 the same way they nerfed Ele’s RTL. I main a warrior and would totally be fine with that. It would slow down the GS/Sw-X troll warriors without wrecking other viable builds.
Do you mean where the CD is increased if it doesn’t hit anyone vs going on normal cooldown if it does? That’s an interesting notion if so.
Yeah, but then we should control the movement a bit better.
As of now, Rush rarely hits anyone.
Maybe if they nerfed rush but made it hit people they’d fix rtl to actually hit people too finally. :/
GS warrior have the same “free out of combat” as light armor classes but a lot tanky, with a lot of damage and CC. That is fair?
Yes to “gap closer”
No to “free out of combat”
Light armor classes have a “free out of combat”? This is news to me. Necros have pretty much the worst mobility in the game. Mesmers have… blink, and maybe portal if dropped in advance. Eles are #4 in mobility ever since they nerfed rtl (behind warriors, thieves, and rangers. In that order.) The only classes with a “free out of combat” are gs warriors and thieves. And thieves have to stealth for theirs or a warrior will just chase them down and keep them in combat.
1. Infiltrators signet requires a target but doesn’t require it to be in range. It will still teleport you. Same with infiltrator’s strike. You have a target, the warrior you’re chasing. and steal can hit 1500 range if traited. Rush has 300 less range than that. You can spec for steal to have a shorter cooldown than rush too.
2. Warriors DO put their escapes on cooldowns by using them.
3. Withdrawal removes immobilize, chill, cripple. Roll for Initiative removes immobilize, chill, and cripple. Fleet of foot removes cripple from you on dodge. You can also use some of quite a few condi cleanses that you have access to. In addition to running condi reduce food.
4. As a thief you have Signet of shadows, which is perma swiftness in combat, and close to perma outside of combat. You can also use traveler or speed runes. In addition to that you can spec to have swiftness on dodge, steal swiftness, if you don’t want to run traveler or speed, there’s other runes that grant swiftness.
5. It’s not the best regen in the game unless he’s use banners. Which if a warrior is using banners, he’s not running with them…..Oh yeah and if you’re pistol mainhand you can just break the game by spamming immobilize on targets.
1. For chasing, yes. For running those don’t help any unless there happens to be a target on your screen far away.
2. How is that relevant? I said that thieves put their escapes on cooldown by using OTHER skills. If a thief uses cluster bomb twice and needs to run away immediately after, they can only use infiltrator’s arrow once. If a warrior uses hundred blades and bladetrail it has no effect on whirlwind attack or rush.
3. Being able to remove CC isn’t the same as being immune to it. Removing it requires you to burn a cooldown that could have removed some other condition later, being passively immune to it does not.
4. +25% movement speed isn’t swiftness. The runes and the signet don’t stack with each other. Swiftness on dodge grants 2 seconds. Swiftness on steal grants 10 on a 35s cd. Not even close to perma swiftness.
5. Healing signet is almost 400 hp/s without any points in healing power. Adrenal health is an additional 120/s. If they actually have the “regeneration” boon on top of that, (which is all you’re counting apparently) it’s even worse. A guardian traited for improved virtue of resolve passive has less regen than a warrior who slaps on a signet and does nothing else.
Bonus point: Except warriors built for running have 100% immunity to immobilize, so that wouldn’t do anything.
PS: I’m an ele, not a thief. I’d rather see them un-nerf rtl, but I know that won’t happen. They can at least drop the double standard and nerf warriors’ mobility too, since they are STILL more mobile than thieves (and much more mobile than eles since the rtl nerf), and that was the justification used for nerfing rtl. It would be nice for my 10.8k base hp light armor class to at least be able to outrun the 18.4k base hp heavy armor class that comes close to passively regenerating hp faster than I can take it away. Or at least be able to cc them from time to time to try to create a gap instead of just granting them regen when I try to cc them..
(edited by Terra Dactyl.2047)
@renny
This isnt true,i have also a warrior and i can outrun with such a trolling build every thief!^ I suppose completely ignoring two posts and saying “quit complaining” is what passes for a replay nowadays?
People should educate themselves before they type. Warriors have been the fastest class since release, maintaining perma swiftness with only warhorn/elite signet. Throw in sword and gs as well as bulls charge. I implore you to try and catch a warrior that doesn’t want to be caught.
Traited Steal 1.5k range, Shadow Step 1.2k range, Infiltrator’s Signet 900 range, Infiltrator’s Strike 600 range, Infiltrator’s Arrow 900 range; spammable, Heartseeker 450 range; spammable. Besides Hearteeker, all of these can be used while rooted and cripple has no effect.
But pls, tell uneducated me how Thieves aren’t as mobile as Warriors. Before you type wall of text bs about how no one runs these, remember that GS/Sw/Wh is only made to fly across the map too.
1. Infiltrator’s signet, steal, and infiltrator’s strike all require a target. Infiltrator’s arrow and heartseeker effectively put the other on cd also, so you can’t count both. Which leaves them with Infiltrator’s arrow OR heartseeker + shadow step.
2 If the thief was actually fighting before running, they don’t have full initiative, so their total distance covered decreases. Warriors don’t put their escapes on cd by using attacks. Thieves do.
3. Thieves can’t trait/gear to be completely immune to immobilize, chill, and cripple. Warriors can.
4. Thieves have very limited access to swiftness, warriors can easily maintain perma-swiftness. Leaps aren’t the only part of mobility.
5. This thread is basically using the same logic the devs used to nerf ride the lightning, which is on arguably the squishiest class in the game. If a light armor, low hp profession being more mobile than thieves was broken, a heavy armor, high hp profession with the best regen in the game by far and complete immunity to slows being more mobile than thieves is significantly more broken, and a fix is long overdue. I understand the devs balance for spvp, but really?…
5/5 for d/d fighting a zerg. Generally heals for 100% of my missing hp by the time I feel the need to heal, or very close. The fact that it also blasts whatever field I’m on, does a little damage, and gives me vigor from renewing stamina from the guaranteed crits doesn’t hurt either.
1/5 for everything else. If you’re not hitting multiple targets with it you’re barely healing for more than the active on signet. An extra blast finisher is nice, but I prefer to use my healing skill for, you know, healing.
I don’t get it.
I would think it’s similar to whatever happened with the toxic hybrid mini. I just hope they fix it. Doesn’t make much difference if it’s account bound or not if you need to have one already to buy one. :/
The LoD recipe also doesn’t appear in the trading post, so the removal of being account-bound is basically meaningless unless you have a friend willing to mail you theirs.
why even have humans then if theres a super saiyan race?
They need Krillin for comedic relief.
They also don’t like the fact that EVERY plot is scarlet. They’re basically half a step from saying Zhaitan was one of Scarlet’s toys.
It’s like if EVERY crime in Gotham City was the Joker’s idea.
It’s like playing Clue if it was ALWAYS colonel mustard in the dining room with the candlestick.
It’s like if they told you who was behind the mask at the beginning of a Scooby-Doo episode.
It kills any reason to be curious about the story, and any reason to care. “I wonder what villain is behind this new nefarious plot! Oh right, it’s just Scarlet again. Because it’s always Scarlet. They don’t have any other villains anymore. I forgot.”
I got an exotic in my season 1 chest. That’s like… 1 every 5 months from WvW loot. I can’t really compare it to champ trains, dungeons, or fractals, because I never do those. If you exclusively WvW, the season 1 chests were like 6+ hours of cash, and several weeks worth of dragonite.
If you don’t, enjoy your achievement points, because that’s all you’re getting out of WvW seasons. And I hope it stays that way.
(edited by Terra Dactyl.2047)
I was only half joking. The people who got theirs already are on European servers. Those already reset for the week.
It’s in Europe.
And you should be grateful!
They Should be grateful we don’t leave the game in Droves (just wvw). Back to PVE profit and shinny land, one hour of a champ farm train gets me more stuff than that past 7 weeks.
I’ll just brush this incident off as charity work and accept their hummble gifts. while I get back to playing the game for the rewards I want.
August 2012 called. It wanted to let you know that WvW has really bad loot.
7 weeks of junk item vendor fodder?
Hey I got a 1g exotic during that time, I can almost buy a rune of speed now!
lol…I actaully got 3 exotics as loot playing WvW for 5-6 hours a day for 7 weeks. So finally managed to buy an extra bag slot….
Just think how many exotics you’d get if you had done PvE for 5-6 hours a day for 7 weeks.
I was just rereading some of the patch notes when I decided to do some calculating for my build. I hope I’m wrong, but I think my individual attunement cooldowns will be slower:
Pre-update: 20 Arcana * 2% recharge rate = 40% recharge rate, 16 seconds * 40% = 9.6 seconds.
Post update: 20 Arcana * 1% recharge rate = 20% recharge rate, 13 seconds * 20% = 10.4 seconds.
So basically, my recharge rate will be slower by .8 seconds post update. Is this correct?
You calculate the effect by 16/1.4 and 13/1.2 .
^This. With the way Dante did the math you’d have ended up with 6.4s attunement cds with 30 points in arcana pre-patch. As much as I would like 6.4s attunement cds, that’s not reality.
Pre-update: 20 Arcana * 2% recharge rate = 40% recharge rate, 16 seconds/1.4 = 11.43 (rounded) seconds.
Post update: 20 Arcana * 1% recharge rate = 20% recharge rate, 13 seconds /1.2 = 10.83 (rounded) seconds.
So you’ll have a 0.6s SHORTER attunement cd. Accidentally doing the opposite of what they intended with large skill/trait changes? Sure. Accidentally doing the opposite of what they intended because they did the math wrong? Very unlikely.

tl;dr: A random number generator is how computers handle “random” and “chance”. Anything random, including a “random item generator” (if that were a thing), has a random number generator determining which of the potential random outcomes actually happens.
Yes most people know this. It is that people often simplify it to randomly generated when referring to the final output (the item,coin,etc.). That was what was randomly generated as decided by the random number generator/loot table and so forth. It’s just a simplified way of referring to the process.
Was talking to the guy wondering why it wasn’t called a random item generator. That’s why I quoted his post, not yours.
Will we be getting new and more difficult content?
Opposing WvW players who have ascended armor.
(edited by Terra Dactyl.2047)
Okay, I’m sorry, I know not all the lingo in this game.
What does RNG stand for?
Randomly generated.
Wrong.
RNG = Random Number Generator
It us used both ways in casual chat. I’ve seen people say both.
I wonder why people call it random NUMBER generator, though… In the other game I play we call it RIG: random ITEM generator, because we get items, not numbers.
Because a random NUMBER generator is behind everything in the game that doesn’t have a 100% chance of occurring. It’s what determines what items drop from a mob, a chest, or the mystic toilet, it also determines whether you crit or not, where on the weapon damage spectrum each of your attacks falls, and whether or not any “X% chance” runes, sigils, or food activate their effect.
A random number generator is basically the computer equivalent to dice rolls in tabletop RPGs, except the die potentially has hundreds of thousands of sides (or more).
I’m not going into detail on how many times you have to win the dice roll to get a precursor because, frankly I don’t know how their loot tables work.
Just to be clear, random number generators are part of the code. They’re not a physical generator that converts electricity (or wind, or gasoline) into numbers.
tl;dr: A random number generator is how computers handle “random” and “chance”. Anything random, including a “random item generator” (if that were a thing), has a random number generator determining which of the potential random outcomes actually happens.
P.S. I took one programming course in college, so if anyone else wants to go into more detail, or correct anything I said, and make everyone’s heads explode, feel free.

I like Scarlet.
but the story is getting ridiculous with her being behind every kitten plot.
Basically this. There are other bad guys in the game. Let them come up with an evil plan every once in a while. Plus the whole going back and making stuff that already happened before scarlet was around her idea… It’s like if DC went back and said the joker killed batman’s parents. And created the riddler. And scarecrow. And poison Ivy. Along with all of the other villains in the DC universe.
She is/was an interesting character, but it’s not interesting anymore if EVERY plot is Scarlet. I mean at this rate, next month they’ll probably tell us that Zhaitan and Abaddon were just giant marionettes with Scarlet literally pulling the strings. It’s out of control.
I demand that some of the new armors should be created separately and specifically for each race. Like adding new choices to the skins for cultural armors.
I always wanted to create a big and strong Alpha male looking Charr, but with the current armors is very limited if not impossible. Also the armors are thought to be for everyone, and this makes each culture disappear. And to think that they were in the concept art, complete with tattoos…
This is a good demand. The reason the Flamekissed armor I have is so valuable to me is that Sylvari have fantastic skin colors, hair styles and colors, glows, eye colors and the armor puts that on full display and complements it. Sadly, someone decided that the sylvari cultural armors should cover as much of their great attributes as possible. A cultural armor for Sylvari designed to emphasize and complement their attributes rather than cover up and replace them would be really welcome.
I have a similar gripe about the norn cultural light armor (and light armor on female norn in general). They have some beautiful tattoos, and the light cultural armors all cover basically 100% of most of the tattoos, which is just silly. It’s like hanging heavy drapes over a stained glass window.
I can understand going for a more conservative look for the game in general, but the norn cultural armor should really be showing off the only physically unique thing about the race (aside from being 8 feet tall), not hiding it. And if you look at some of the skins for other armor types, or the t3 light human cultural armor, the “going for more conservative” argument kind of loses something.
No kind of special reward is ever going to fix this mess. There should simply be no reward.
Reward the winning server with the best reward and you just motivate stacking to one server. Destroying the gamemode.
Reward the losers, and you get servers trying their best to lose. Rewarding negative behavior such as trolling WvW.
Give everyone the same reward seems the fairest. But just consider that it was still much harder for some servers to get the key on. And plenty of people who were no help whatsoever to WvW leeched their way to a key.And before this is even touched upon. Introduce individual reward? And you will just get people to farm whatever gives the most “score” towards getting a high as possible reward. For example, keep flipping.
WvW was trucking along just fine without needing rewards. And frankly, i suspect these amazing rewards people are clawing so desperately for will be a giant disapointment like all WvW rewards are.
If arenanet wants to incentivize people to do WvW all they need is achievements and some reasonable reward system, aswell as some cool unique WvW skins.
Perhaps even throw in a weekly-achievement, similar to daily, only it resets every matchup and awards more AP, coin, karma, luck to be in line with demanding more from the player. And you will get plenty of people going into WvW, without feeling urged and rushed.
The only solution is to make it like WvW rank up chests. Give everyone 2 greens, 10 badges, and 15-20 silver, and:
1. The carebears won’t clog the queues in season 2, because that’s like…. 20 seconds of pve.
2. No one has any extra incentive to stack servers.
3. No one has any incentive to lose.
Everyone loses!
I’m puzzled why some players decided to join this game if the concept they like for armor design is clearly the opposite of what GW had in the first place…
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Mesmer_armor
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Necromancer_armor
So many light armor pants. The mesmer especially. Light armor + pants is clearly the opposite of what GW had. Yes sir.
What gets me is how they think everyone wants a Roman gladiator themed heavy set? First my achievement helm now a gem store skin…
Re: Achievement points: At least you don’t have a heavy roman gladiator themed helmet and gloves to go with your cloth armor…
Gold? I want my $10 back. I already know I’m not going to like their replacement, since it’s just going to be some other skin I already didn’t like with fire particle effects.
I can put $10 towards beer, or food, or another game to play. I can’t use gems for that.

Hey you ^ Light has one of the most amazing basic pair of pants in the game, go look at the AC armor dude, and preview the pants.
Those still have a skirt… Which doesn’t dye well (it looks like it needs to be washed unless you dye it black). If a skirt that length doesn’t count, heavy has a boatload of pants too.
(previewing in pvp locker so giving the spvp names):
Heavy pants with skirts of shorter/equal length to AC light armor’s skirt:
Worn chain legs
Superior Duelist’s leggings
Chain legs
Whispers leggings
Heritage
Pants with a few awkwardly bulky areas, but still pants:
Plated leggings
Priory leggings
Aetherblade
Pants with basically nothing extra:
Heavy plate leggings
Primeval
And that’s of course ignoring all of the “pants with spikes” and “pants with a single piece of cloth hanging from the back”
Light has a couple of knee-length, or ankle length skirts with pants visible underneath. AC light armor is mid-thigh (shorter than the others), but it’s still a skirt. If we don’t want a skirt on our pants, light armor basically just has the genie pants (which have something on the back that looks like they were considering adding a skirt there too, and stuff hanging off in awkward places), and the dominatrix booty shorts (profane) from the gem shop. I’d gladly trade either of those, or any of the pants with ankle length skirts, for PANTS with spikes, or PANTS with a single piece of cloth hanging from the back.
Hopefully it’s a ballot we can cast to vote if there will be a season two.
They will rig it to make it seem like people actually enjoyed season 1.
They wouldn’t need to. The carebears who grinded out the achievements in under 10 hours and then left (who don’t care about any of the issues because they didn’t affect them) vastly outnumber those of us who had to stop actually playing for 3 hours to farm ruins and do jumping puzzles, or got stuck with queues (caused by the aforementioned carebears farming achievements) for so long that we had to shell out money to transfer to be able to enjoy the game with our guilds.
Only way they would need to rig it is if they didn’t have something shiny for pve people in the reward chests.

The truth is the moment ANet chose to do something about the flamekissed armor, because of all the noise about it, they created a situation where no matter what they did someone would be unhappy. Essentially where we are now is people buying a leather jacket then having it recalled and replaced with a sweater (or something else that is not the leather jacket).
And most likely being given store credit (gems) instead of an actual refund ($10) when they’re unhappy with the sweater they didn’t purchase.
Light don’t need pants.
disagree. Heavy already has several pants, medium already has tons of pants (although they’re hard to see under the trenchcoats). Only “pants” light has are those baggy genie pants with the holes in them. More pants for everyone, but light armor is the one that needs pants most.

I am waiting for the epic finale – Trahearne vs Scarlett.
It will require a minimum of 100 players to complete the final battle and then, just at the very moment the last of Scarlett’s 1,000,000,000hps is exhausted after a 9 hour battle…
Trahearne will appear and deal the final blow with Salad bowl or whatever his sword is called.
Becoming the new epic hero of Tyria for all his hard work….. We couldn’t have succeeded without him.
Why does this sound familiar? Oh right… Kormir.
In general:
Light armors: PANTS
^+1
Really just anything that’s not a circus tent on light armor females would be nice.
