If orbs had the outmanned buff how many people would work hard to get them? I do think outmanned needs to be changed to something a bit more helpful.
I sure am sick of people whining when being killed by a class designed to kill. No one ever stops to consider how often a glass cannon thief dies.
Update? Silly end user, anet doesn’t give updates, that would imply they care.
I think the point is ANET needs to implement some sort of client side protection or at least an application that scans and reports to ANET for them to review. Especially since there are only 3 major hacking mods that people use and a good start would be to have this scan for signs of these 3 mods and ban any account that is found to be used with them. Again this will take a client side app, they cannot scan for these mods from the server since that would require unrestricted access to the client PC.

Debuff applies if you “attack” while stealthed. If they don’t attack they can chain as many stealth’s that they have, which is upwards of 5 if they use the trap and have the stolen stealth item. Not to mention shadow refuge’s duration.
As a thief my counter to stealth is 8k cluster bombs at my feet.
If they are going to keep nerfing thieves damage dealing ability they at least need to offset it with survivability. Sure thieves can kill in 1 or 2 hits if all the timing works out perfectly, but with the lowest base HP in the game, i’m talking 11.5k pure dps spec, that needs to be raised.
I’d completely support a client side app like punkbuster whether it worked 100% or not. At least its something….
Ya I’ve seen that post but what are they suppose to say? “No we can’t detect it.” I’d like more details on how many people have been banned due to them “tracking” it and not just from reports and screenshots. Because it sure doesn’t seem like they have a handle on it at all and it is only getting worse.
I’ve been trying to get DR to join forces against whatever green is for the week. Then i see a whole group of people every friday at reset planning a raid on DR. Nothing I say changes their minds so i just gave up trying…
I have no way to be certain, it’s just what makes sense to me. Other games that don’t have this problem have everything server side. Games which are vulnerable to things like speedhack have always been client side modding to get the desired results. Counterstrike, battlefield 3 etc… which is why they use punkbuster to detect the client side changes and tell the server to kick the client. If the code being changed within the game was server side we wouldn’t have this problem. I don’t know why ANet chose to have these values be controlled by the client.
Here is a list of the following hacks based off of what i have seen and been told also in my experience the same types of hacks happen in any game where there is hacking. Speed hacking (which modifies the movement speed of the character not casting speed or attack speed because thats server side, and its easy to tell this because when lagging you can still run around but not cast or attack properly till the server lag ends or catches up with itself). No clipping (which is fly mode walk through walls etc…), being able to adjust the gravity for jumping higher, and being able to teleport to any location on the current map. If these were server side im sure we would see none of this. The kicker is maybe with the way the game is designed it would cause too much lag to have this be done server side which is why they chose client side control for these things.
As to getting caught, if client side mods were so easy to detect why do games that suffer from this use a 3rd party locally installed app to detect them…
Looks like for the first time a MMO needs punkbuster. Since the hacking is client side they will have no way of detecting it without a 3rd party app running in the background looking for client side modifications. Reporting is the only way for them to catch anyone and we all know how effective and speedy ANet is.
I have had more fun doing WvW on Kaineng then any other.
There is an in combat and out of combat speed, it does modify both.
This is why GW2 is going to be my last MMO. Everyone just complains about balance and never wants to take the time to learn how to fight. Honestly I blame blizzard for holding everyone hands in the MMO scene.
I totally agree! MMO’s these days are nothing but complaints over what i think is nothing. Lets go back to stat and xp loss on death, or the ability to lose all items if you can’t get your corpse back. Would any of these things be “tolerated” by our kitten community?
Ya that seems to be the problem i’m having. Everyone has an opinion, even what i have to say is just an opinion. Most of what i hear and read makes sense. Should duel wielders take advantage of 2 runes? There are good arguments for yes and no. Some sorta stack some don’t, and since sigil of accuracy doesn’t show up in the hero panel no one has a definitive answer. Personally i think either they do stack but don’t get the full bonus (7% instead of 10%) or they need 2 to get the full effect to balance out with 2 handers (need 2 to get the 5% when dual wielding) I guess we’ll never know for sure until an official post or the stat boosts show up in the hero panel.
An option I wouldn’t mind, especially if they aren’t letting sigils stack and want people to use different sigils would be to give 2 handers 2 slots for sigils.

Which is why I would like a definitive answer. I know people’s opinions on why they do or do not stack. Reading other forums, this forums, game bug reports with arguments for both sides. I really don’t care since it’s only 5%. I would just like a definitive answer.
Also regarding semi kittening 2 handers, why would they complain any less if dual wielders could stack almost every other sigil and get a benefit but the same stat sigil. 5 crit and dmg is still just “powerful” as 10 crit when you look at the bigger picture. I realize that proc sigils share cooldowns or dont give double the crit chance to proc but it does help to have 2 over 1. If thats the case wouldn’t having 2 sigil’s of accuracy at least give 7% or is it going to be the other way around where you need 2 to get the 5%.

I know sigils that proc don’t stack, but ive never gotten a diffinitive answer of these types. Did my own testing and with the 5% dmg sigil i noticed a difference when having 2 since 5% is easy to see when your testing with numbers 10k+.
Either way, even if i only have 85% crit chance there is no way i’d ever get hidden killer over executioner
Edit: From GW2 Wiki page regarding sigils. It looks like they may stack afterall.
Sigils that hold a charge per kill cannot be stacked (i.e. +5 power per kill and +5 condition damage per kill) one or the other shows up. This applies even if you swap weapons. For example if you had two different “On kill stacking stat bonuses” sigils on two different weapons, only the sigil of the weapon you make a kill with first will take effect. If you swap weapons and make a kill, the sigil from the second weapon will not take effect.
Charging and non charging sigils can be stacked.
Sigils that trigger on critical hits can trigger on any critical hits; the critical does not need to be scored with the associated weapon’s skills (e.g. a character with an offhand weapon imbued with a Sigil of Rage can still gain quickness when critting with their first three skills)
Sigils that have a chance to trigger on critical hits stack their chance percentages multiplicatively, not additively (e.g. two major sigils of fire – 20% chance on crit each – give a 24% chance on crit, not 40%).
Sigils that trigger on critical hits will not trigger on critical hits caused by mesmer illusions (this is to be confirmed with other summons).
If you have a main hand and offhand weapon equipped and have a “On kill stacking stat bonuses” sigil on only one of the weapons, you will only see a partial benefit from the sigil. If you have the same sigil applied to both the main hand and offhand weapon you will see the full benefit.

Oh ho! I’m liking the information and different views/theories. I think I will be going Executioner now. I’ll have to make sure my Crit % is at 50% though. Think its only around 44.

Full Beserker? Full Berserker or 50/50 Beserker and Valkrie? For use in WvW as well.
Depends on your play style, i like full berserkers in WvW. I’m good at avoiding death for the amount of kills I get.
Start with executioner, and if you find yourself saying “CRAP if only that backstab was a crit i would have won” then you can think about changing.
58% base, 63% with food, 75% with max stacks of Sigil of Perception on my bow (very easy to get max stacks in a few min in WvW) 80% with keen observer. Switch back to dual wield daggers each with Sigils of Accuracy for 90%. 97% with side strike.

Having already a 90% crit chance i chose Executioner.
The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

I agree that this needs to be addressed, or at the very least a status update from arenanet, since they already said how popular WvW is, one would think they would keep that playerbase informed.
On a side note it sure is fun to read people’s “theories” about the cause and solution. It’s like comparing a professional to the kind of answers you’d get at geek squad.

It’s not an exploit, its a server side rendering issue. Unfair….yes. Should thieves no longer use stealth till they fix it? No.
I really enjoy thief in WvW. Range 900 is fine for most of our attacks. If i had 1200 range on everything it would just cause a whole lot more OP thief threads on these forums. Clusterbomb is amazing, 6-10k hits depending on the squishyness of the class.

Myself and a few others do our best to never attack DR, unless they are really persistent on chasing us around. So if you’re on DR and see a bunch of naked people dancing for ya, feel safe.
After testing Ruby Orb and Divinity set on my armor there is one hidden piece of info. Or maybe its a bug. I get 6% more crit dmg with divinity set even though they should be identical. I’m thinking the 10 to all stats is altering something on top of the 2% per rune to give more to crit damage. It was an expensive test since I started out full divinity, went ruby orb, now back to divinity.
IMO Divinity is still the best DPS rune set.
Yay, now heartseeker is more than a travel power again!
I find heartseeker to be a much better travel power over infiltrators arrow for total distance gained for initiative spent.

On a side note, I do enjoy people complaining about thieves when warriors burst for just as much when spec’d glass cannon but have twice the base health and heavy armor, and yet do I go kitten up there forum? No.
I moved from HoD to Kaineng to avoid queue’s.
0.5 second stun….. it’s so weak no decent thief uses pistol whip without comboing it with basislik or devourer venom. The stun is not the problem with anything regarding this situation. In this type of game every split second counts and you have to be quick.
All people remember after they die to a thief is the death. No one ever considers how much a glass cannon thief dies also. Its just the perfectly timed attacks that work that people QQ over, and im not talking about heartseeker, there are PLENTY of threads already QQ over that.
For the record. I don’t use heartseeker, PW or haste in my builds, they are not needed and by far not the most entertaining builds out there.
We also feature nightly dancing on the beach.

It’s always the people who aren’t … how do i put this … “very skilled” that complain the most and get the changes made to make it easier on them since they are the majority, and its really easy to use a thief against people who stand still. When in reality against another “very skilled” player its a hard balanced fight where if i mess up even a little i’m dead. Then after the so called “balancing” its a decent fight against the majority and almost impossible at the top end of the spectrum. So the question is who will arenanet cater to, the top end spectrum of skilled players, or the majority of people that want fighting a thief to be as easy as fighting a NPC.
If you are getting killed all the time by a glass cannon you must be doing something wrong. Glass cannon is more then just a cute term, its beyond true. If the thief is FULL GLASS CANNON, even a player with mediocre gear can kill a thief. If the thief is hitting for 10k crits they are FULL GLASS CANNON.

This is by far not the first game to do this. It’s helpful if the computer has multiple users and each wants to save or keep private screenshots, music or whatever. Being the only user it doesn’t make sense, but it does have its purpose, and like i said, far from the first game to do this.
I rarely use d/p. I know others like it a lot but it all depends on your build and play style.
You will get attention from enemies, players or npc’s. Apparently its the thief curse. That attention will also follow you to the forums in the form of complaints and crying by other people.
