They can create a clone, summon a rogue phantasm, and mind blast you for confusion. They don’t have a ‘get up and die later’ skill.
I somehow manage to half kill the stupid dualist ones with my shield reflect. As soon as I see the two pistols typically the first thing they do is unload spam, so I just reflect it back in their face, and block the second volley with my second shield ability. After that I have free reign to lay into them while wait for their energy to come back.
I’m sure there are better thieves though. And the melee ones with Pistol Whip are pretty deadly. But I think a general thing is to wear PvP gear to survive their faceroll bursts.
Least they didn’t expect you to explore sPvP maps. And the vistas do highlight the pretty castles.
Strange, why do people complain about run times so often if it’s too small.
The ears add an extra layer of expression for Asura, as they have tiny faces and it might be hard to read if it was just that alone to display emotion. But just look at the ears and you know what’s up. Mine has rather big floppy ears, and I love it!

Cause it worked for me since I like to be flexible. The reflect/repel has proven very useful (as it allows me to use blast combos on my random elixir throws) as has the shield block stun/shield throw interrupt. And honestly I don’t like having to go into close range to get the most benefit of Torch like you would with pistol/pistol, or bomb kit for that matter. And I hate turrets.
And you never mentioned that you were talking about SPvP in your original post did you. I thought you were on about shield/pistol in general. I don’t touch SPvP so I can’t help you there I’m sorry.
How are you struggling? What’s your build? Are you doing enough damage? Are you taking too much damage? Where are you leveling? What level are you? WHAT!
Personally I leveled with a condition + pistol/shield build as it allowed me to whittle down targets easily enough with a few ways to counter both ranged and melee types. I struggled a few times, but with GW2 the way it is, I always found someone to run with for a short time before I could get back into the solo swing.
I’m condition build and I use pistol/shield just fine. Condition/Precision build that procs a whole bunch of stuff off crits with coated bullets to pierce. I sometimes use the flamethrower kit to use the Incendary bullet toolbelt for a bit of added burn. I run around Orr and WvW with the build and it offers a lot of flexibility.
Frankly I have never used the rifle/pistol offhand in leveling or WvW. Felt too clunky to me.
Always love it when Golem armies arise. Was done once before though to a stupidly high number.
Despite the curb stomping we are getting from Dragonbrand, I still love getting into three ways with Maguuma involved as well. Had a good time holding onto one tower in DBs borderlands while both DB and Maguuma fought over who was going to kick us out.
That kinda craziness in WvW is always fun.
Least you aren’t paying by the the month right?
I’m pretty sure even Thief dualists only fire out of one gun until they use a skill, it’s just their Unload skill is the only one that uses both in tandem. The 2nd weapon is more of a tool-gun.
Risen Chickens. Just cause.
And Krait, the bane of my underwater existence.
I do like Largos. If anything I want to know more about those butterfly people.
Sieges would be endless with that system. Every death means another invader/defender with access to supply right off the bat, who can then beeline back to the fight even if your team holds all the supply depots.
Just for information, you don’t have to join the squad to see who is a Commander. They have an icon on the map for everyone on your team to see, as well as the icon above their name on the ground so they can be seen while in a group as well. Joining their squad just allows you to see the squiggly things they can draw on the map.
They call it night capping.
I call it Prime Time.
You are comparing a straight up damage class (a melee one no less) to a utility class and wondering why you don’t plow through things? Melee does more damage then ranged by design.
I leveled myself as a Firearms/Elixer spec condition damage engineer with pistol/shield and I never had any trouble at all. I could kite/block/reflect/blind on top of knowing when to evade, all the while whittling their health down steadily with poison/bleed/confusion. I felt extremely flexible in engaging any sort of opponent. When I finally got to Orr, I could solo most of the zone while other classes were complaining about being flattened (I even managed to solo a champion mob, though it took a while).
Engineer is just a tricky class to play. We will never do as much straight up damage as a warrior/elementalist/thief. But I think the class can holds its own in other areas just fine.
Orr is the first endzone that feels like an endzone. Literally everything wants to kill you in there…bar a few stray unzombied Moas. I think it’s awesome in that respect.
Without traits you will still get flattened by other players who are 80.
Most large shields clip into my back on my Asura. Even the Asuran tier 3 shield which is ironic.
Precision is the stat that increases your critical strike rate. I think the only way to ‘miss’ in this game is having your attack evaded/blocked/blinded/reflected, or just plain not aimed right in the case of target AOE effects (such as grenades).
Both Power and Condition builds can utilize Precision. For power is gives bigger crits, for condition damage it can proc a variety effects on crit if you are traited like that.
I always get annoyed sieging even a lowly tower when I can SEE the arrows shot but a ranger on the walls, but can’t see the ranger.
Grinding captures/defenses will just pigeonhole possible commanders into just sitting in those areas rather than moving with the dynamic nature of leadership. I’m not sure about other servers, but Tarnished Coast has a few recognized commanders even when they don’t have the ‘mark’. To the point that their word is strong enough to rally a battleground into a cohesive unit.
One in particular has got 61 something gold from donations to go toward getting his mark since we trust him that much, and he never asks for these. Players just do it out of their own hearts since they know he gets results and deserves it. I’d go as far to say they’d trust him over someone who has a mark but is unknown.
A shiny mark on their head for any reason won’t get players to trust them, I mean anyone with enough time on their hands can do all the stuff you listed and more. But it won’t make them a leader.
I have fun using the 5 button to knock a mass of enemies off a wall from the knockback.
Our server melee have figured out that they if they move in a mass when charging into the enemy raid they can control the fight somewhat. The first reaction for many ranged is to back off if they see anyone with a greatsword swinging a few feet away from them. Usually there is a guardian or two sprouting reflects/pulling enemies in to put a real damper on a day for many a ranged.
Melee by design does more upfront damage at the expense of being exposed to damage. I play an engineer and I’ve been destroyed by melee in a few short seconds compared to any ranged I’ve fought against.
This sorta falls off in sieges however seeing as melee can’t fly up on the walls. So they just tend to stop reinforcements getting through and leave the ranged to attack the walls/gates.
Despite all these claims no one has yet to take a screenshot.
I am in the opinion that Golems are completely useless compared to other siege. Soon as you are spotted you realize how little HP you are given and might as well have bought 3 Rams to do the job (since they are carried by faster moving players and take less time to build compared to the time it takes a golem to walk there)
But moreso the current state of stacking catapults behind the gate makes anything anti-gate a waste of gold.
1. No, everyone has a right to play.
2. Sounds exactly as the same argument against Alterac Valley back in the day. Look where it ended up? In a large team, these mobs are nothing.
3. Level 80s yell/command/carry on as much as level 1s.
4. Commander Icon is a luxury. If your server has a proven individual capable of leading (our server has already picked 2 players just from past experience) then they lead. I know for a fact that on Tarnished Coast, even if another individual had this mark and our known leaders didn’t, we’d still follow the known leaders over the icon bearer. Using WoW as an example is flawed, as all it showed was that Warlord/Marshal didn’t have a life and may not actually be that good of a leader as he is a PvPer.
I’m pretty sure in the report tab there is a strict warning that abusing the report system will result in punishment. It doesn’t apply to just saying ‘reported’ over and over however. Just accept that this is the internet, and people will typically say things they will never do.
