I’d suggest swapping in Well of Suffering instead of Corrupt Boon, and try10/30/0/0/7 (unless you are using Staff alot). Add in some Vitality gear to compensate for the loss in Toughness.
I have got the staff skin , but what about the best looking daggers ? ( Thank you mates for sharing )
I like the Modniir Carver, also from Scout greta:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Forward_Scout_Greta
Krait daggers work for me too.
Ogre Warstaff is nice too (and cheap):
I’m partial to the Shadow Armor myself.

I think Charr looks best, myself. See this recent thread on the topic of race choice for necros:

Yea, its been this way since yesterday. Not good!
Just did it last night. Same problem as the OP. I used the artillery instead, and it only was semi-effective. In the end, I just kited stuff around for a LONG TIME and then the event magically completed. (Died about 4 times in the process, due to getting stunlocked. Grrr.)
I don’t know if this topic belongs in Game Bugs, but I’d like to know the answer too, for my Charr!
You could also consider orbs – they offer some other stat permutation choices.
Aslo is there a problem with runes atm i currently use 6 runes of the necromancer and it shows im using 12 where the other 6 are i dont know.
Yes, known issue. Its due to your default PvP armor runes being Runes of the Necromancer. It is a display bug only.
As to which runes to choose, I think it would be helpful to include your current build, armor/jewelry choices, and venue (PVE,PVP,WVW) for your question.
Another vote for Charr.
The only downsides are that the racials aren’t very necro-y and some armor just looks awful on the Charrs.
But…Charrs can look kitten.
The Prec/Tough/Condi armor you are using is only attainable thru dungeons according to my research (Svanir/Khilborn/Nightmare/Corrupted Orrian). Are the stats you currently hold attainable with crafted gear?
My neccy is almost 80, and I want to test out your build when I get there.
There is Strong rare armor with CondDmg/Prec/Tough you can buy off the TP.
See my post:

If you like high HP bullet suckers, go for a necro
While I play mine AoE heavy, I think you can do with minimum AoE quite easily…
Agreed. Necros are a high HP class. You can get 24-28k health without too much effort.
If you create a power-based build, with dagger MH, axe MH, and focus OH or warhorn OH, and Death Shroud you will primarily be using single-target skills. You can also use wells without ground targeting, so it just drops the well centered on your location.
Anyone have a link to this interview?
Like Dipsy, I chose the rare Strong gear, but got the COND DMG/Prec/Tough. I then added Emerald orbs (PREC/Tough/Power) to all pieces. Most jewelry is Rampager (PREC/Power/CondDmg), also with Emerald orbs.
With 20 pts in Curses, I have 48% critchance before buffs.
Toughness is 1326, but health is only 22.7K.
Just a different way to go if crit% is a higher priority.
There is a thread on this:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/bltc/Unable-to-sell-and-see-stats-on-trading-post
I had the same issue. In my case (Win7 x64), instead of starting from my shortcut, I went to Start/All Programs/GuildWars2 and then right-clicked on the GW2 program and chose “Run as Administrator”. Then the Sell option would populate with my stuff to sell.
Since then, I have not had any issues. Even when I start from my shortcut as before.
If you have bought the new Makeover Kits, has it worked out well?
Since its a new item/feature, I’m just want to make sure they aren’t buggy before spending gems on them.
Charr! For the size, and Charr have the hair style with the skulls if you don’t like helmets.
Per the wiki: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Quickening_Thirst
The movement speed bonus from either dagger does not stack with Signet of the Locust.
I play necro for the playstyle. I just can’t seem to get the same enjoyment from the other professions.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Item_nomenclature
just in case you ever need to find a specific combo in game
Yes, it’s a handy reference, but that page doesn’t list the triple attribute Strong armor prefix, with its multiple combinations.
I think it depends on your sigil choices. If you plan to go Strength/Battle sigils, then I’d definitely go with all Might.
But if you don’t plan to ever use those sigils or BiP, then things change.
It’s just that 30% of most of those boons you list gets you only about 1 extra second each (depending on rounding up or down). Boon duration just doesn’t seem to be the best use of those slots.
Also, a bit unclear since Monk/Water are +Healing runes, are you creating a support build or a power build?
Eventually I just de-aggroed, summoned my flesh golem to distract it and grabbed the skill point while it was occupied.
Thanks for this tip. Otherwise I doubt I’d have gotten it.
they don’t stack if you have same one on both weapons.
If sigils are different, then they do.
Hmm, if they are the same and are “on crit”, the wiki says they do stack:
Sigils that have a chance to trigger on critical hits stack their chance percentages multiplicatively, not additively. For example, two major Sigils of Fire, which each have a 20% chance to trigger on critical hit, will have a 36% chance to trigger, not 40%. Stacked chance = 1 – (1 – % chance) * (1 – % chance) Example, with 20 as the % chance: 1 – .8 * .8 = .36, or 36% Example 2, with 60 as the % chance: 1 – .4 * .4 = .84, or 84%
I’m pretty poor, too, but this build keeps me pretty capable.
http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mMVczzM9MmFwrMmFwrMax0aGoMkqzco
For gear, its just Rare stuff, runes and sigils are Majors (Superior when i can affford it).
- Knights armor
- For weapons, go for Berserker (Power/Precision/CritDmg)
- 2xRunes of Strength, 2xRunes of Fire, 2xRunes of Hoelbrak (for Might stacking)
- Sigils of Strength on Scepter & Axe, Agony on Dagger, Bloodlust on Focus
(I’m tempted to try stacking another Strength – instead of Agony – on the Dagger)
Scepter/dagger is great for AoE & conditions. Axe/Focus is pretty good for single target and vulns stack quickly, which make DS1 hit really hard.
(edited by TheAgedGnome.7520)
why are you using two proc sigils on the same set? they share a single CD so it’s not efficient to run two.
Really? so the 5 second GCD is shared by both? Well that sucks lol! Where did you read this info, not that I don;t believe you it does make perfect sense I just never tested.
If this is the case I am going to probably put a base 5% crit rune on the Scepter. Will update when I see where the gap is in my build. As of right now Fire > Earth.
The wiki states in the Sigil notes: “A single cooldown is shared by all sigils.” But it also says that ‘on crit’ sigils can stack, so maybe you’d go two Fire?
For me to get a strong DS, I need Power + DS traits + (Might and/or Vuln).
- Reaper’s Might (RM) & Unyielding Blast (UB) are a necessity.
- Might stacking from RM, BiP, Sigils (Strength,Battle) and Runes (2xFire + 2xHoelbrak + 2xStrength).
- Vuln from UB, axe, focus, sigil (Frailty).
I like the necro playstyle more than any other class. So, if it fits for you, wear it. Otherwise, you won’t want to put up with the bugs and class weaknesses.
My Necro:
29,652 Health
2,791 Armor
3,191 Attack
I am a mobile fortress.
Can you share your spec/armor/upgrades?
I tried this axe build last night in PVE, and it worked very well for single targets. However, I felt unable to thrive in AoE situations. Maybe I should have used BiP instead of the Spite signet?
(copy/paste the link)

…I believe the issue is that, we can do alot of things that any class can do better. Be it conditions, straight DPS, Healing….we are not the best at anything in this game. …
Does this also include applying Vulnerability? (e.g., axe/focus)
This is kind of depressing.
I trait for the Vulnerabilty and the DS skills CD decrease (Path of Midnight). As a Condition necro, I’m not depending on DS for huge damage, but I like to be able to pop in and out situationally, so I like the skills to have reduced cooldown.
I also like the side benefit of the larger LF pool (now that it is fixed).
Thnx for the much replies…. but i have problem cant link on the links you guys sent me…
I get an error " bad link " so yea i have to go from what you guys are typing
You need to copy & paste the text of the links to a new browser window. ANet is confused by external URLs with semicolons in them.
… I don’t disagree with the build – though I would be wary about investing in wells in Rabid gear. Rampager gear might be a different story
Wells do ok, but not great, in my build. Staff Marks are definitely quite weak. I’ll often swap out a well for BiP instead.
Sigils on the 1st build are strange, of earth/of strength MH are better options, also unsure about path of midnight as a soul reaping trait given the the low power on your build – I would move those 10 points into spite and grab reapers might so you can stack might/vuln of target
On the 2nd build close to death (spite) is currently bugged, it doesn’t apply to condition damage so don’t spec into it as condition. The rune set and sigil set also don’t fit the build – see previous posts
Hmm, I don’t see how getting 250 cond dmg (Sigil of Corruption) and 10% bleed duration increase (Agony) is strange, considering its a cond build.
I do see how Earth/Strength could be good, but since % crit rate is not terribly high, I always shied away from them. Might have to try that out.
As for the second build, that was from another recent post by someone else. Just wanted to point out different direction to go. Thanks for the heads up on Close to Death – I’m glad I’m not using it!
OP, I think that’d work fine.
Seems like you could go two directions. One is to something like mine (copy/paste links):
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fQEQNArYWjMat7VaSb87JgJFZPe0DiHOZKFrXOA;ToAqmMNJay2krJZTLCGLsLYGA
I use Cond/Tough/Prec armor & Runes of Undead. Could also use Knights armor instead.
Or…go in this direction, which adds more Power:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=;044Z-FKlHFF0m3JIkJ0;9;4TT9;036B16A1;6SNH6-JF0NV05NV051FM
A matter of playstyle, I think. Mine has much lower power, but I have alot of CD reducing traits, which I find very helpful.
For whatever reason, I seem to always be poor in GW2. Probably because I haven’t gotten around to running dungeons, and because my magic find is low when farming
In any case, since I can only afford rare armor, I was pleased when I bought a set of Knights armor for my necro. Knights is Toughness as the main attribute and Power/Precision for secondaries.
But as a condition spec, I was not sure if this was the best move, since it didn’t boost my Condition damage at all.
Yesterday I stumbled on Strong rare armor on the TP. There are several varieties of attribute combinations, all falling under the same name. In particular, there is one with Cond Dmg as main attribute and Toughness/Precision for secondaries. This is the same as Khilbron’s, which seems to be popular.
Anyway, just thought I’d mention it, since I hadn’t seen it discussed.
As an 80 necro, its difficult but in a good way.
I don’t know if I’d spend much more time there, though; so far, I don’t see loot or event reasons to stay.
On my server (Ehmry Bay) the fight works, but nothing happens after it. You talk to him and it’s the same message as before, and no map is mailed to you.
Same on Borliss Pass. Fought him multiple times within the last hour. No email.
This event is all karka’d up.
…the event and associated content was publicized along with a promotion to encourage new players like myself to try it.
Was it unrealistic of me to expect it to work? and isn’t it natural that I should express my dissatisfaction about something i’ve been looking forward to all week?.
Indeed, as a business, this is precisely what ANet needs to honestly ask themselves.
I want to level up a Necro and all I hear on the Necro Forums is how bad, and crappy this class is.. Come on let us be honest shall we?
Is the class really that bad? Do we have to work 10x harder then another class to get the same end results in PvP and PvE?
I find Guardians and Warriors boring, and yes I know they the most powerful classes in the game right now.
So really can someone tell me honestly how bad this class is or is not?
I’ve tried leveling a Warrior and Guardian (3 times now!) and I too keep getting bored with them.
Speaking for PVE only, necros do quite well, despite the annoyance of some bugged traits and skills. Although we are clothies, we are pretty tough, and I find condition damage requires more thought and strategy than direct damage classes.
We do especially well in AoE situations, good mob tagging, and its hard to get less than Gold in DEs.
In the end, though, it comes down to whether you enjoy the playstyle and mechanics.
The advise that I give my friends trying out the game for the first time is to just start at the beginning and not try the one-time events. They’re not a very good representation of how the game is and if you just start from scratch, you experience everything: Regular events, Hearts, crafting, leveling, exploration, map completion, personal story, etc, etc.
Yes, this is what got me hooked into GW2, and why I stay.
They could not have messed up this free trial event any worse with the display they put on last night.
And it was so predictable too: there was no indication that they were ready to run a very time-limited event like this without major issues. When I read they were having the free trial overlap with the LS event, it was clear someone at ANet wasn’t thinking it through.
Guys, we’re fine. Look here, the buff for warriors was important!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Ru_rXq2LYg0
Once I master Death Shroud, will I crit like that? hahaha!
At least we got some fixes. (I’m calling the glass half full by drowning the Jagged Horror in it to raise the fluid level.)
Otherwise, the necros are really falling behind with this patch: this thread is only 3 pages long while the Rangers patch thread is 12 pages. They are not happy campers at all.
my question was just if there is no “ravaging” gear in the 50+ range cuz i’m not seeing it on the TP, or if I’m just missing something.
See this:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Item_nomenclature#Triple_attribute
At level 60+ you will see differently labeled gear. The Prec/Tough/CondDmg you are looking for is called Rabid, which is not craftable.
Like lettucemode said, Knights armor is good.
Seems others have noticed this too. See these threads:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Superior-Rune-of-the-Pack-Stats-don-t-add-up
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Rune-of-the-Pack-1
See this post:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Superior-runes-bugged/first#post697880
then you have a whole set of the same rune on your spvp gear (if you haven’t changed the runes on your spvp gear is default to your class rune)
I’ve seen this too where the tooltip thinks I have six of the Superior Rune of the Necromancer equipped on my necro, yet I have none equipped.
I’ve never PvP’d at all…on any character, so I have never created a PvP set with runes.
