How to reach 150 AR again now

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: TheArtOfMouts.7468

TheArtOfMouts.7468

This is what I’m aiming :
Armor : +7 = 42
Ring : +11 = 66
Accessory : + 10 = 20
Backpack : +11 = 22
= 150
Seem really good for my account setup.
Will have to craft more +11

But ..
Because I’m poor atm and +1 agony raised in price.
This is what I planned , until lower +1 agony price:
Armor : +8 = 48
Ring : +10 = 60
Accessory : + 10 = 20
Backpack : +11 = 22
= 150

If you don’t cash in your +7 infusions for Fractal relics, 12x +9 and 6x +7 (combo B ) would be roughly equivalent in cost to the above combination (6x +9 and 12x +8, which is equivalent to 6x +9 and 24x +7 for comparison). Combo B works out to about 137g if using only Agony infusions, the combination in the OP, if my math is roughly correct, is about 117g (will double check tomorrow).

Which one is better for someone who transfert alot rings/accessories between characters ?

2 attuned/infused rings, 2 accessories and an infused back piece is 10 infusion slots. +15 in each is 150 and you don’t have to worry about armor pieces. 5 trinkets in 5 shared inventory slots would save a lot of trouble in transferring.

If you already have +7’s in each of your toon’s ascended armor infusion slots… 150-(7*6) = 108, 108/10 = 10.8, or +11’s in each trinket slot.

If convenience is more important to you than gold.

humm might consider your second option , which will avoid the need of infusion in all my weapons.

If you followed all of the lines you will already know where it spawns since it spawns directly after the escort. There is enough information if you pay attention.

The Escort never triggered.

I’m actually fine with ascended being needed in some new content. I am also fine with most of HoT being designed for people that like to live and die by a timer. I’m even good with titles and armor that can be earned there so long as they offer no inherent gain or significant power creep.

What I am not happy with is an Xpac that offers next to nothing for the play style that the game was initially focused on after waiting a year for it! I’m currently spending most of my time in core areas due to not wanting to “wait to have fun”. And with the way RNG and the “new” revised content is set up I will most likely never see another ascended drop and I sure as kitten won’t craft one due to cost.

For me personally the masteries didn’t quite deliver what I expected. This bleeds into content.

When I heard about unlocking Itzel language I expected that whole new storylines/dynamic events would get unlocked. When I heard about gliding mastery I expected reaching new areas with new dynamic events.

Instead masteries are mainly good for one thing: unlocking more masteries. The Itzel doesn’t tell you interesting things about his culture, he doesn’t start a new event… he just gives you a one liner and a hero point. Gliding mostly helps you taking shortcuts or unlocking more points.

TLDR: Masteries don’t unlock new content/ interesting stories but more hero / mastery points.

Can you imagine how mad Official forum would be if they lock Events behind mastery, riot 24/7 of course. #gating content #this expansion is too small #gw2 is dead

HoT Story is locked behind masteries.

I think the biggest issue with some people is how hard the new areas are. Silver wastes was similliar but not quite as bad. Honesty tho it’s a l2p issue. If you’re really having issues then go with a defensive set up until you can learn your class well enough to run around in zerker.

The other issue is the map being too big and confusing. Here’s the thing. We only got 4 new maps BUT they are huge maps. It takes awhile to get used to their weird quirks but really it isn’t much different than say learning 10 new maps on a scale that you would be more used to. In that case it is just frame of reference. If you run them enough you get it figured out.

That’s my take on the issue anyway. I’m enjoying the expansion and haven’t had any issues except when I was learning to play my revnant. I didn’t play it much in beta so didn’t really know how to use it all that well which led to constant death since I thought running around in zerker with a class I didn’t know how to play well…. Was a good idea. I can tell ya it isn’t lol.

Can you solo every HP ?
Maps are small and cramped.

Addressing forum complain is not possible because forum literally complain about every single thing in GW2 and every changes no matter good or bad.

Yes Anet made design change and it’s good decision, old maps are boring and brainless. New maps are challenging and fun if you want casual content core tyria offers plenty.

So your advice to casual players is not to buy expansions?

Casual, solo players who don’t want content that’s challenging, yeah, I think they’d be disappointed with the expansion.

But not every casual player demands to be a solo player and not every casual player demands content you can beat while watching Game of Thrones on your other monitor.

Because ‘casual’ players of either persuasion can spend hours camping a map waiting for a meta that takes two hours to complete, where failure is likely and where rewards only are obtained on success.

Really?

Would I prepurchase again? No, because of this reason.

I hate having to play the taxi game to get in to a decent map, then sit for a half hour waiting, then hope that the meta doesn’t fail and render it all wasted. New maps suck. Timers suck. Lfg tools are woefully inadequate. Silverwastes and dry top you just jump in and play. HoT maps you waste half your game time getting ready to play. Considering that a normal person might only get an hour or two each night, you’re then committed to one shot at a map and have to ignore dailies, pvp or anything else.

This game used to be fun because it wasn’t the total time suck of a typical mmo where everything is a multi hour commitment. Unfortunately, someone at anet seemed to think that two hour meta cycles would be omfg epic instead of the annoyance that they really are.

Also
Silverwastes & Dry Top were free contents.
We had to pay for HoT with worst map structure + binded to the story.

GW2s New Direction

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: TheArtOfMouts.7468

TheArtOfMouts.7468

I could not agree more or say it any better. Your statement hits all the nails on the head about what’s wrong with ANet’s new direction.

I’m finishing a few things on my characters, and then moving on. The new zones just aren’t fun. It’s as if the designers of the karkarma island took over, failing to see how empty their creation is, and deciding the whole game had to be that way. They had little actual content for an expansion, so they filled it with grindy stuff.

I’d pay 50 bucks for an expansion meant for the non-hardcore. I regret paying that for an expansion designed like HoT.

Today I finally GRINDED the story and I got stuck with the gliding not opening bug during the end-boss fight. GG !

GW2s New Direction

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: TheArtOfMouts.7468

TheArtOfMouts.7468

A long time ago I was a hardcore raider in WoW (vanilla, bc, & wrath) and have conquered server-first boss kills, etc. I’ve since then accumulated a lot more real–life responsibilities that limit my play-time and make my schedules unpredictable. I am unable and unwilling to make commitments to guilds and to raiding because I do not want to feel that pressure to have to log on, to have to do this, to have to do that. I can’t keep up with that type of gaming anymore even though that itch is still there, it’s just not possible.

Guild Wars 2 never had any type of hardcore commitment; there was no monthly subscription either so it was always pick-up and play when you wanted. The game was designed around that and that’s what always kept me coming back. It’s why I’ve had the game since pre-release and I purchased the $100 copy of HoT.

The thing is HoT has moved the game in a much different direction than what GW2 represented to me and was to me prior to the expansion.

GW2 was a game where I could do anything at pretty much any time and have it feel meaningful while not having to dedicate a huge chunk or time or make a major commitment.

I could level up an alternate character through zones, story, crafting, EotM, or use the tons of tomes and scrolls I have lying around OR a combination of all of that OR only one of them!

I could PvP, WvW, Dungeon, Fractal, Explore (JPs / Other Achievements), or even do some World Bosses if I was on at the right time, pretty much at any time I wanted to.
I could do this on any of my characters with any type of gear and mostly any type of build.

HoT has changed all of that.

I have about 800-900 hours on my warrior (who is my main) but then I also have an additional 800 hours spread out amongst my alts. I have an 80 of every class (except rev). A few of them I have leveled up through story and map completions, some through EotM (somewhat recently but before HoT) and then I have a necro I leveled up with scrolls/tomes. Most of these characters I don’t play often enough to give them more than one set of exotic gear. In fact, even my warrior only has one set of gear and its exotic with some ascended trinkets, amulets, etc. and Twilight (which I FINALLY made a few weeks prior to HoT).

My point is, I play every aspect of the game and on a wide array of characters because not only do I enjoy it but because GW2 supported it and made it possible.

However, with the implementation of raids, the design of the new zones, and the destruction of dungeons and WvW I feel like I cannot do these things the way I used to and how the game was prior to HoT.

The design decision to have map-wide meta events tied to specific timers is extremely frustrating for me. If I do not log in or am not in a zone at a certain time I am out of luck for the next few hours if I want to complete it. I understand that they did not want map-hopping like SW but then maybe having 4 zones in HoT ALL with meta events was not exactly a great design.

Don’t get into a dragon stand map within in the first 30 minutes of the timer good luck finding one. Nobody attempts DS with an hour or even 90 minutes left on the timer.

Get into a fresh AB? have fun waiting about an hour for that Meta and it’s even longer with VB.

Oh, you need to complete VB event chains but log in during night time? Well, sorry, you have to wait 45 minutes until they begin.

This also ties into adventures being constantly locked due to map times and event progression. Need gold for those mastery points? You must progress the specific event for it and hopefully you have enough time to hone your skill at it before it closes!

Wait, you mentioned all the HoT zones but left out TD. Well, TD ties into two issues I have.

One, Guild Wars 2 was always about play how you want but in order to complete the Meta in that zone you must be a zerk meta advocate and spec’d specifically for DPS. Condi builds, GTFO, you can’t dps fast enough and your CC’s end up breaking the bar making the Gerent move which results in a dps loss for everyone.

Two, ANet talks about how they want you to be able to play how you want but then create a DPS race at the same time as saying they’re moving away from the zerk meta end-game.

Something doesn’t add up.

(I actually do not have an issue with Gerent, but I feel its poor taste to say one thing and design the opposite and then having the completion required for some collections/masteries/etc. despite the way it alienates players.)

Not only that but then they go ahead and create raids – the opposite of playing how you want. Raids are a pretty exclusive thing and a great thing for highly organized and structured guilds and players with manageable schedules. However, if you have been playing GW for this long I don’t think raids were something you were missing because the game has never been about them or designed with them in mind.

GW2 was always about doing what you wanted when you wanted and how you wanted.

You want legendary armor? You HAVE TO raid, you have to conform, you have to designate time in your schedule and study/learn boss mechanics . You need to have ascended gear because the Devs said it’s been tuned for such so no guild or PuG is going to let you in without it.

There are ways to create challenging group content for organized guilds for more than 5 players. Look at TT and even look at Gerent.

Honestly, ANet has just completely changed directions with the game and I personally do not like it. If I wanted a cookie-cutter raid based game I would not be playing GW2 there’s a million other games out there that have that and have it implemented better and were built around it as one of their core pillars. Throwing a raid into a 3 year old game with no supporting features around it is just poor design.

If they wanted to cater to the hardcore progression player, well, you already have fractals, too bad they can’t seem to get that right either.

Too much time and effort and tuning and perfection is required to create unique meaningful and challenging raids. ANet doesn’t have those types of resources and almost no game company does, look at the MMO landscape these days, every game gets chewed up and spit out when they resort to raiding as end-game.

I just do not understand what ANet was thinking when they decided to go in this direction with HoT and with the game in general.

I am not complaining about the value of the game. I definitely have gotten my money’s worth and do not feel cheated. I willingly paid the money for it and would do-so again. However, I just do not agree with the direction I am more and more beginning to realize that the game is going and wanted to voice my opinion and that fact that I may not be supporting the company in the future.

+ 1 + 1 + 1 + 1
I’m in the SAME situation as yours.
This is why I dislike HoT contents.

for 1 hour players (like me) it is near impossible to join in events and actually finish it all. more and more i see myself going back to skyrim or other games (we got planets yay 0/) because HoT did not bring as much fun to ME as it did with playing the core game and am pretty much waiting for next weeks update and see how and what they balanced the new areas/mobs/events etc etc. still havent finished verdant brink and only got 2 glider and one shroom mastery thats it because I just seem not be able to gather enough xp to even see a decent difference on my mastery xp bar

Same.
The base game can be played here and there without the feeling of missing something if you log-off. At least doing hearts for exp was also usefull for 100% map and no need to wait for players. Grinding events in HoT for mastery is boring and not helpfull for map progress.
I’m now at Story part 9 and so far I spent 3 hours doing events for the required mastery to be able to start this story. Without counting previous story/mastery gate.

Hi all,

This is not a complaint post. I just want to have some tips from people who played the new areas more then I have. All suggestions are appreciated when ment well.

My life at the moment, and for a long time to come, simply does not include more then an hour of uninterrupted time in game, if even that. And I can never really plan it either.

Core Tyria is easy to know what to do and finish things as nothing takes very long or can be interrupted. But I do that enough as it is (I still like it) and have had that content for years already. I would prefer some new stuff to mix it up, hence me buying HoT.

HoT though is a different matter. The meta’s are way to long for me. I more often then not grab a bit in the middle and have to go before it ends again. And it seems reward wise (loot and xp) HoT is mostly about the meta-events, and the rest feels not so rewarding. But I might simply be overwhelmed a bit. Hence me asking you all, what activities and things can i do best in HoT that still gives a decent amount of loot and or xp (compared to the time played/work done, don’t expect it to be the best of the best obviously, just viable. But that does not demand a big uninterrupted time investment before a payoff. And is fun to do obviously, farming the same mob over and over isn’t it obviously ^^

I thought about doing some of the adventures. But somehow they seem to be almost always unavailable when I reach one. Is there a way to see which ones are active at a given moment without actually going there to check?

Also is there a timer somewhere that shows how long the time till meta completion still is (or rather day timer, as i only seem to see dusk and night counting down), so i can estimate how big the chance is I might see the end of it (and get the participation reward).

+1

HoT really missed something.

I completed the story + map complet of the base game playing off-hour mostly 1-2h a day with satisfaction and pleasure.
HoT … I have no fun being always seeking for events only to unlock Mastery to continue de story.

Can the Story Mastery Gate removed completly ? Game Design has evoluate in the past years …
I’m really not enjoying the story because of this forced Mastery Grind.
So far I spent more time farming EXP than playing the Story …
20 minutes a quest, then 1h+ for Mastery Grind

How your designers really thought to introduce this hard flow breaker ??!

I did used LFG for group event
But most of the time I group for an event that I dont have the Mastery or Waypoint .. Oo
