Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
Ewwww. No raids please. Hours and hours of grind, to maybe get a chance at a piece of loot, that takes years to get a full set. Yuck. Other games exist if you want that. I really hope they never, ever add raiding.
You seem to be confusing the content system with the reward system.
I disagree with:
I can understand the choice in releasing a single map. It’s easier to gather feedback and create better maps that release a ton of maps that aren’t recieved well.
As for the Legendary weapons, I can see this only being an issue if it takes so long after release that everyone has already gotten the new precursors. As it is, it’s prolly the wisest choice to pull resources off of something that can’t be accessed immediately to content that can be.
i use all classes in pve (all zerk ofc) and spvp, what i suggest is not to remove everything, but to give a different access to boons and conditions
i think there is no sense to give everything to everyone, i’d like to have some exclusive boon for some classes, quickness only for mesmer, stealth only for thief, protection for guardians etc etc
Ignoring that there are boons like that (Spotter for example), the flip-side of this is the players that only play one or two professions.
Limiting boon and condition access would shift the current meta around a little, and eventually you’d have even more of a problem because that meta would require certain things (vulnerability, for example) and so meta groups would only contain professions with access to them boons and conditions.
Unlock Elite Specs when they come out, I think.
Mixed architectural styles and cultures don’t sell well historically in east Asian countries, so they’d miss out on a wide number of players if they made Cantha a melting pot kind of area like it would have been in Divinity’s Reach. It’d probably work better if they picked a single culture to base it on, but I’m not sure how accurate to lore that’d be.
I’d probably say they could just use one style and it wouldn’t clash with the lore.
Lorewise, no-one actually knows what’s going on in Cantha because they closed their borders – both in and out – on pain of death. The last anyone heard was that the Ministry of Purity was running the country.
Going back to Cantha?
Sure, I’d love that.
But so long as some cooperate desk jockey thinks it will offend people, I won’t hold my breath for it.Was that their reason for not doing cantha again?
smh…..
cause it offended the east from what i heard
Refresh my memory, was anyone offended by Cantha in Guild Wars 1?
From what I heard from various people on the forums, Japan, China and Korea weren’t happy that their cultures were mixed together.
They also put Turai Ossa in. That must mean Elona is coming soon.
And don’t forget Grymm Svaard, which must also mean that they’re implementing content based around Sea of Sorrows.
Ok, so the points I see on my mesmer for example are “only” for my mesmer and not account-wide points?
Yeah, they’re character-bound.
At level 80, you’ll have enough Hero Points to unlock all of your utility skills and traits, meaning you’ll have access to everything to create your build.
Whether or not you’ll be able to play the exact same build as before because of the changes to how traits work is a different thing.
TL;DR – SAB’s on hold because of changes made to the engine and focus on the expansion.
“We’ve made a number of changes to the physics engine as a result of places like Silverwastes, Dry Top, and the expac that means we need to go back and re-work SAB to use all the new movement systems. It also needs a pretty solid rewards overhaul, and I know Josh would love to make some changes to world 2 before it returns.”
You get enough HP by level 80 to unlock all of the core skills and traits (though you can do the challenges to unlock stuff sooner).
As for what levels you get them, couldn’t tell you sorry.
kittenty and poorly managed games will die hard and fast in P2P model. SWTOR, WildStar, B&S (they were too greedy). But GW2 could thrive, and free itself from gem store shackles. But to each his own.
I find it very unlikely that the game will thrive moving to a sub model.
The game was sold as B2P. Suddenly asking players to pay per month just to access the game is more likely to result in players leaving the game in swarms, than picking up and retaining players.
Unless of course you have an instance where a F2P/B2P game has added a mandatory sub and actually thrived, I remain unconvinced.
Oh. And i’m sure a-net is not doing too HoT. Notice how much gemshop picked up recent time and all the hard marketing around pre-purchase. They need money and they need it now! Least that’s what their actions bespeak of.
What, you mean the once a week that it’s always updated?
And of course they’re pushing pre-purchase. It’d be kind of daft to say ‘well, pre-purchase is open’ and then not mention it again.
(edited by TheDaiBish.9735)
Are you honestly suggesting that the changes to the Trait system and the NPE are down to the B2P model? o.O
Personally I wouldn’t have an issue with an optional sub with benefits, but I’d much rather purchase one-off small DLC packs (think the Bonus Mission Pack from GW1) containing said skins.
When we open loot bags, where do the actual bags go?
I mean, seems kind of a waste when they could be recycled or something.
Greater Marks I believe was made baseline.
Spiteful Removal got changed into Spiteful Renewal, I’d wager a guess at.
$50? the expac is $60 unless you want to QA Anet’s buggy pre-releases for them and have all your progress deleted at the end.
Where did you read that the price will be going up after pre-purchase?
Glad to know I’m not the only one who is disappointed with how little content has been hyped up so much
What are we getting altogether then? I’m assuming you know since you’re saying the xpac doesn’t have much content.
But let’s just get to the point. From what I heard the same thing will happen every time an expansion comes out. I assume there will be 4 more – 1 for each dragon. So does that mean players that played from the start will have to pay 300 – 600$ for the whole content, while those that start then only 50 – 100$?
Welcome to every game with a box price ever.
Be more worried about the amount of content than the price it comes at, old rather pay $100+ n see some real content put in
What are we getting altogether then in terms of content?
Ok. Thanks for the quick reply
When I get on after I’ll hit someone up
Hey
Just one question. Do you have a minimum that you need to participate? Due to RL I can only manage a few hours a week.
Thanks
Dai
You ask what it is?
Something that needs to be killed with fire. Lots of fire.
Thank the Six these changes come to Burning and the condition cap to make it possible.
Y’all need RNJesus.
In all seriousness though, the way it works is that it boosts the item’s assigned drop chance.
If an item has a 0.1% drop chance and you have 800% MF, that’s still only a 0.8% drop chance for that item. If you’re unlucky, you’ll never be in that chance.
Hey all!
I’m currently seeking a casual guild for mostly PvE content (although I’m not adverse to WvW or SPvP).
While I’ve played the game from launch, I still haven’t done every dungeon and haven’t gone past fractal level 3.

@Orpheal
That link you posted shows a Revenant with a sword, not a shortbow.
But then it turned out there won’t be any dungeons and thief spec won’t be rifle, so I’ve pretty much gone from waiting for a half price sale to not caring at all.
Firstly, we don’t know whether or not there will be dungeons. While not confirmed, we can assume the ‘challenging group content’ they’ve yet to go into is instanced content:
Simply put: we haven’t announced it yet – when we’re ready to show everything about our plans for challenging content for HoT, we’ll announce it.
Though it isn’t the “challenging content” feature discussed in our announcement – I will add we want our open world content experience to be more challenging as well just in general.
As for the data-mining, everyone assumed that Ele was going to be getting a main-hand sword, but now new data-mining throws up the speculation that they may be getting a warhorn.
Not to mention this.
- L2P.
- Dungeons are abandonware at this point (they’ve actually said so).
Just out of curiosity, do you have a source?
Q: When will we get more dungeon, fractal, any kind of dungeon related changes? Like another question is hardmode for dungeons.
- Hardmode is something we’re staying away from at this point.
- Thrown around ideas to increase longevity of dungeons without doing major reworks like Twilight Arbour.
- Twilight Arbour was a pretty serious amount of work. Not necessarily something they want to commit to at this point (Aug 22, 2014).
- Fractals are flexible; allow to add smaller chunks of content without the work required to redo a dungeon.
ty, now I got to put in a support ticket. lol
Why’s that?
They’d have automatically been added to your wallet.
They got converted into Djinngots Spirit Shards.
Let’s wait until it’s released, I wouldn’t want you to be disappointed when you realise how little content is actually going to be released
Do you know something we don’t or are you speculating?
72% of gamers are gay
Gays are less 2% of the general population. Tell me again how 2/3’s of gamers are gay.
I hope you’re aware that a community can have a majority even if that majority within that community is a minority in the general population.
I hope you’re aware of basic arithmetic. More than 60% of adults play video games, while only 2% of adults are gay. Even if you assume that all gays are also gamers, that means only 3.3% of gamers are gay. Feel free to dispute the actual numbers of gays or gamers in the general population, you’ll never make it to 72%. Good night.
Oh yeah, I’m aware of basic arithmetic.
I just wasn’t aware of the actual statistics.
100% of people are Bisexual.
Here’s a pretty interesting article:
http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/15299716.2010.500960
If that’s the case, shouldn’t it be that “100% of people are pansexual”?
At any rate, keeping it PG, I disagree.

Bro, i completely agree, not only does this game need to stay away from politics, but its true alot of the player base did not agree with the descision, and most of the country, atleast 60% If you read drudge report. I wish arenanet would keep away from stuff like this youll you will P.O most of yuur playerbase soon enough.
“I’m going to pull a bunch of random numbers out of thin air in order to support my point.”
In all honesty, I can’t see why this is as big of an issue as people are making it out to be.
Anet posted a pic in celebration for a group of people who have been fighting long and hard for a right that heterosexual people have had since the beginning.
That’s all there really is to it.
I’d expect the Elite specs to cost more to completely unlock that the core specs, because I’d expect both the skills and traits to be included in the Elite track.
What We Know
- 1 New Map (Verdant Brink)
- New Storyline
- Guild Halls
- Mastery System
- New Profession
- Elite Specialisations
- New Legendary Weapons
Speculation on my Part
- Multiple new PvE maps
- Instanced Content being the Challenging Group Content
- New Fractals
Repeating myself, Devs said Legendaries will always be the BiS, so I believe that if the level cap ever get higher then the weapon will also get higher.
BTW the devs didn’t said they will eventually rise the level cap, they just didn’t discarded the idea.No. Chris said, " we’ve always expected that we will someday raise the level cap in GW2."
That doesn’t say maybe. That doesn’t say it’s on the table, but they aren’t considering it. It says they will someday. Of course they can change their minds, as they have on many, many things. But unless you have a newer statement, the last word we’ve had from ArenaNet is that a level cap increase will eventually happen.
As far as legendary always being BiS, can you link me a source for that? I’m interested in what the actual language is. The only thing I’ve been able to find is that they’ve said they will always keep legendary equivalent to the highest tier of gear. That doesn’t mean a level 80 legendary has to match the stats of level 95 ascended. That’s why I fear there’s a loophole.
If someone can point to them saying “your current legendaries will always be BiS” that would be great to see. I can’t find a statement that says that.
A more recent comment shows they won’t be raising the level cap or adding a higher tier of gear.

The Greatsword looks to be of the same design as the Necro Elite Spec greatsword.
Given the design of the Warhorn, I’d assume it’s to do with the Elementalist Elite spec Tempest.
Nope. You need the xpac for the new profession and Elite Specs.
Did you forget the disclaimer that this is currently what we know – aside the map thing – and isn’t a final list?
Cause the official website of the actual company says nothing about the content that I care for, which is:
- How many maps are there actually
- “Challenging new content” – shape, form, presentation, somethingAnd I’m no marketing genius, but the first thing I would mention on that cover is “X new maps to explore!” or “X new dungeons” or “Introducing Raids!” – IF I had a decent number of maps/things to work with.
Of course, I am neither Anet’s marketing department, nor does this mean there will be a lack of content. But for me it certainly implies it.
Look at the back of any MMO box on that website:
- WoW doesn’t show how many maps, dungeons or raids there are.
- Wildstar doesn’t show how many maps, dungeons or raids there are.
- ESO doesn’t show how many maps there are, or even imply that they got instanced content.
Yeah, but those are the base games, not the expansions where you have to show what you are expanding.
WoD didn’t.

Not only that, but surely if their revealing things bit by bit they wouldn’t have them on the website yet, nor on the back of a cover that’s been released before this information?
As for challenging group content, we can logically assume it’ll be instanced since it isn’t the open-world content.
So.
This is a supposed picture of the back cover of the HoT box (it is from a well trusted if not the most trusted online retailer in my country).
No mention on it of new PvE maps, “challenging group content”, PvP or WvW. If this cover is real then… this won’t end well.
I suppose this online retailer is more of a reliable source than the actual website managed by the company developing the expansion.
Well, I can’t think of a good reason to go and make a fake back cover.
Oh I know that.
I’m just questioning why you’re basing the expansion content on the back of a box from a third-party source as opposed to the website of the actual company.
I mean, the back of the box doesn’t mention Elite Specs either.
Although, market-speak wise, “Travel to the Magumma Jungle…” is an indication of new areas being opened up.
That’s not considering if you look at the back of a lot of game boxes, they don’t give specifics of the content. ESO doesn’t mention instanced content, Wildstar doesn’t mention dungeons, only raids.
Only until Elite Specs are added.

1. We currently know of one map -Verdant Brink – in the area.
2. We can reasonably assume that the ‘challenging group content’ is instanced content from Colin’s remark on the open world content not being what they meant by ‘challenging group content’.
ON this patch is NOTHING god.
Why cannot reset hero points ?
Why cannot sped my SKILL SCROLL for what i want ?
HOW to i get MORE Hero Points ????
How to I reset hero points ??I DONT need STUPID shards !!!!
I WANT back skill points !!!!
I Dont buy your datadisk, i play bis end of base game and NOTHING more
Bye Bye GW2
Hero points are like Skill Points in which when you spend them, you can’t get them back.
You get them leveling through to 80 – which will give you enough to unlock everything – or by doing the Hero Challenges – formerly known as Skill Point Challenges.
We need a special forum section for blackmails…
Nah, they should just make SAB accessible ONLY as a preorder bonus for players who preordered before June 23rd..
As an added incentive, pre-ordering in the next hour allows you to select SAB as a guild hall.
Just include them in the appropriate forum.
For example, general suggestions in this forum, while WvW goes into the WvW forum.
I’m arguing against WoW, your response sounds like a WoW players.
WoW is vert progression because level cap changes. We do not need to worry about it. Once you have ascended, you’re done for good. That is not vertical. It is both horizontal and vert, a plateau if you will.
Make points, not whines
Vertical progression isn’t limited to the level cap raising.
The gear and upgrade system as a whole is a mixture of vertical and horizontal progression:
.
I would like to hear your crazy definitions of vertical progression. It’s def based around level cap increases not a single goal. The game is fine with any tier of gear. No one needs ascended.
Vertical progression is numbers going up, regardless of how small the increase is.
Not only that, but you DO need Ascended gear in order to do Fractals after level 10, since you need the AR.
Base stats are being boosted from 926 to 1000.
All gear will be getting the rest. The gap between Exotic and Ascended will still be 5%.
Master of Corruption
Reduces cooldown of Corruption skills by x%, but adds another self-condition to the Corruption skill. Transferred conditions have their durations refreshed and increased by y%.
