Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
The way the maps work Vanquish isn’t practical, especially wouth some of the the champions in orr.
i would suggest that they could do something similar with a Dynamic Event Vanquish where you have to complete every dynamic event in the zone at some point in time to get credit for a vanquish. It could be similar the explorer achievements but would be set up like this:
Queensdale 0/54 Unique Events completed
Considering GW1 and GW2 are two different game types, how would it be implemented? Mobs spawn constantly, events produce mobs ect.
He means a mode, like the way you select explorable or story when you enter a dungeon.
Yes, I know this.
But in order to achieve it, you’d have to create an instanced version of the map.
In hindsight though, it could work for Dungeons.
Making a new armor set is too time consuming; it would be a waste to make an armor set and limit it to a single profession
Who’s saying that they have to all be done at once, and straight away? Who’s even saying ANet have to design them? There were quite a few weapon skins designed by the community in GW1. Make it a competition.
Personally, I’d like armour and weapon skins that keep in the theme of my profession.
Just think:
Considering GW1 and GW2 are two different game types, how would it be implemented? Mobs spawn constantly, events produce mobs ect.
The problem with “everyone is accountable” is that “everyone does the same thing” which brings us back to the original problem – no variety in combat and no organized and strategized team play whatsoever.
”Everyone Accountable” doesn’t mean ”Everyone does the same” at all. You’re also looking at it the wrong way.
While my Warrior doesn’t put out much DPS, as he is specced heavily for Control, everyone is still accountable for avoiding the times I can’t CC. Just like if our Thief puts Shadow Refuge down, it’s up to us to use it.
Just because roles aren’t defined, it doesn’t mean they’re not there.
It’s up to encounter mechanics to bring more of the teamwork aspect out. The Trinity isn’t needed for that.
OP:
Not really. Me and my mates just assign our own roles, typically:
I agree that the game badly needs a replacement for Nicholas and this could very well work (although I’d say that up to 3 ectos a day might be a bit too generous).
I would however stick to the weekly timeframe, which gives a bigger chance for those that can’t play every day to complete them.
Hmmm…maybe 3 is a bit too much. It was just a placeholder number at any rate. 1 would probably be more appropriate.
Looks like I didn’t edit this suggestion, but somewhere else where I was shamelessly plugging myself, I suggested that she stays in a zone for a week, but travels around that zone, changing places each day. And yeah, maybe keep the item requirements the same for that zone, until they change zones.
She’d most likely be found at PoI, since she’s curious to learn about the world.
I personally don’t mind a non essential grind for a pretty weapon. I’d much prefer though if Legendary weapons:
Happy new year all, from Desolation. May Anet bring more glory to guild wars 2 in 2013.
Go Desolation!
Happy New Year, y’all! Hope you and yours have a good year!
First things first, Happy New Year!
1) Race doesn’t really make a difference, since there’s no Racial bonuses (just racial skills).
2) Warrior is incredibly easy to get to grips with, and possibly the simplest class. As for best, that’s more down to opinion and preference, really.

It’s amusing how many people are clearly satisfied with the mindless dim-witted combat in this game.
Vasham was right; Lot’s points only further emphasize it.
I would elaborate further, but it’s clear after 4 pages that there are too many sheep who are buying everything that ANet is selling… even this level of mediocrity.
Nothing wrong with the combat system. GW2 does have roles. Just not rigid.
Encounter mechanics need to be more complex to encourage teamwork. Defined roles don’t neccessarily make for better combat.
It WAS easier. Since Nov 15th they’ve been working diligently to do just that. We really just need the trinity (which would only require a few threat buffs on a couple of warrior skills) and raids the game will be set. Endgame already revolves around instance grinding now.
If the only thing between them and this suggestion is how difficult it would be for this game to emulate WoW, they have alleviated much of that difficulty in the past 2 months.
1. Disagree on introducing Trinity. If you have good encounter mechanics that encourage teamwork, then you don’t need the Trinity. Making two different systems means encounters have to be balanced around them two different systems. In terms of resources and time, it would make other content suffer.
2) Endgame is based around grinding instances? I’m currently on Fractal level 2, and I haven’t got a single piece of dungeon gear. My endgame primarily revolves around WvW and just playing in the world, liberating waypoints, doing events, exploring the world (my current world completion is almost at 50%) without the aid of icons on the map.
Endgame changes from person to person.
3) While I got nothing against raids, I’d much rather them improve and introduce more meta events into the world to replace raids.
(edited by TheDaiBish.9735)
I haven’t seen a single example of teamwork, and it’s specifically because combat is a free-for-all DPS zerg.
We were four-manning Fractals.
A team-mate went down on the last boss of the Asuran fractal with the jumping puzzle (the name escapes me).
While the other 2 were reviving, I kept the Golem away.
That counts, right?
Completely agree with the OP. the abandonment of the trinity is a huge problem for GW2.
However, the entire game and combat would have to be redesigned and quite frankly, it’s not worth wasting time on this game… it’s too far gone. Move on to another game.
4 months is ‘too far gone’?
Runescape just redone their combat system after having the same system since 2001.
Kinda puts things into perspective, no?
Besides, nothing wrong with the combat system as that encounters need encounters that force teamwork and communication.
With encounter mechanics as such, you don’t need the Trinity to have teamwork.
Personal Hopes and Speculations for the January – February Updates
It has probably been suggested before…
Overstatement of the Century.
That being said:
1) GW1 had 8 – 12 man content (Underworld). It’s possible they might reintroduce this. However, before they do, imo, they need to tone down the particle effects and bloom / give an option to block other players particle effects (Field effects stay on screen), otherwise no-one is going to be able to see anything.
2) They haven’t really removed Raids anyway, just taken them and put them out in the world (Meta-events). And while they do need to be made harder in terms of scaling up (i.e. additional mechanics depending on the amount of people much like Fractals), they’d function the same.
Disagree.
Interesting encounter mechanics that encourage true teamwork (as opposed to everyone in the team going through their rotations), not the Trinity, make for interesting PvE.
As long as you got them, then you don’t need the Trinity.
Make Hearts the main levelling content and events just there for extra?
Might as well just stick ! + ? Questing in then.
I managed to get to level 15 before leaving Queensdale (bearing in mind you start at level 2), since:
- Hearts give you XP
- Events give you XP
- Daily Achievement gives you XP
- Gathering gives you XP
- Vista, PoI, Skill Challenges and uncovering the map give you XP
- Personal Story gives you XP
- Kills give you XP
Hearts are there to do when Events aren’t up. If you see an event, drop the Heart. Keep an eye out for NPC’s asking for help (they trigger events).
Like I said it’s either you got lucky, or you’re lying.
Hearts give you XP.
Not enough to progress through the area without doing DE.Events give you XP
Some events don’t always spawn/pop/whatever you wanna call it.
I always stated this making several human characters, and only fighting the oakheart champ/shadow king thing once.
- Daily Achievement gives you XP
Not enough to level at lower levels.Gathering gives you XP
I rather not grind nods to level.Vista, PoI, Skill Challenges and uncovering the map give you XP
I shouldn’t have to get all the vistas/POI to level. That’s silly.
I understand it’s part of the game, but some vistas I don’t even know how to get without looking up guide. So what then?Personal Story gives you XP
Personal story is a kitten to solo for some classes, and need help.
I’m also not the right level for my story quests half of the time, and get my butt kicked.Kills give you XP not enough to level.
Seriously the things you just told me that gives me XP aren’t enough to level my character.
I guess I should do the Lotto then, because I’ve consistently gotten between levels 13 – 15 in all starter zones.
And while, yes, individually the XP gain isn’t great, combined it’s enough to level.
Grinding nodes? Personally, I tend to gather while I’m out and about. I don’t specifically go out to grind XP on nodes. That’s just daft.
As for Hearts not giving enough XP to level in a zone, they’re not supposed to. It’s not supposed to be nice and clear cut like that. Hearts are more of a guide around the zone.
Personally, I’ve taken the levels for everything (zones, story ect) as more of a rough guide. More often than not, I go into a story a level or 2 lower than recommended.
So if people are saying that they have no problems, maybe it’s their lucky.
Pro-tip: Turn off all of your map icons. Go blind, and you’ll probably find more events that way.

The problem with a system like that is that, if not moderated, it’d be open to abuse.
”Want to exchange favours?”
”Sure”
Player A recieves 1000 karma + 5 silver
Player B recieves 1000 karma + 5 silver
”Thanks”
”NP”
It’d also go against the whole point of discovering them for yourself.
There’s a difference between useful additions and additions that play the game for you.
Just remembered: I made a similar suggestion months ago
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Skin-Generator-For-Gear/first#post492687
Well, I will explain. On the map there are wp which are good replacement mounts, I not hunting to come back by times when from one location to another needed to run on it a lot of time, it doesn’t grieve you to spend for this time? I in a course that at each class am healing skills, I didn’t like the word “more” don’t turn game into others become obsolete mmorpg.
1. I never said whether mounts was a good or bad suggestion. Personally I’m on the ‘I don’t really care’ team.
2. His suggestion for more healing skills also included weapon, utility and Elite skills, so that’s a problem with reading comprehension on your part.
1. Back items for backslot in the gem store. Capes, tails, dragon skulls, wings etc.
2. Out of combat mounts.
3. Cross-class transmutation for armour.
4. More weapon, elite, utillity and healing skills for all classes.
5. New weapon types for Thief and Engineer.-_- You plaing Guild Wars 2 , dude.Mounts?Healing skills?
Well, considering Mounts aren’t in game, that makes it a suggestion.
And they said MORE healing, utility and Elite skills. You know, like Healing Signet, Signet of Malice, Glyph of Restoration ect.
So yeah, I think he’s playing GW2
This, being only skins, could also be a nice little moneyspinner, buying additional skins / parts / effects to use.
Although I’m pretty sure they’ll be OK designing their interface
In terms of combat, you’ll actually become a hinderance keeping your eye on the UI.
In terms of PvP, if you use addons, it may give you an advantage (why else would you use an addon in PvP?), which would mean other people would need to use them to stay even.
In terms of gathering, there’s no need, since no-one can take your nodes.
Combat parsers…well…elitism.
The only things I could see addons being useful for is gear management, which could also be implemented by ANet anyway.
Name change should have been included with the makeover kit, imo.
I disagree with the Inspect option though. We have enough elitism as it is without people refusing to take others on runs because of ‘wrong traits’ or ‘wrong runes’.
If anything, they need to make certain parts of open PvE:
- Harder to require group participation and co-ordination.
They already tried that, it’s called Orr and everyone hates going there.
Except the Events in Orr aren’t hard (with the exception of the temples). I think the more common complaint I’ve seen is the amount of CC mobs have.
They’re more of a ‘I need to bring AoE to tag loads to get loot’ that ‘OMG We’re Going To Die!’
This can already be replicated, to an extent:
I’d prefer more of a hardcore mode toggle for combat, personally:
In return:
I suggested this (along with Area Rep) to get people back into lower level areas.
Could make it into a title track as well
Making a suggestion like this, you might want to give what sort of theme the weapon has for that profession.
I’d love for Legendaries to be a story-driven task, personally. I mean, what make them legendary to begin with? What’s their history?
As for aesthetics, I’m personally aiming for The Dreamer on my Thief, just so I can yell ”TASTE THE RAINBOW MOTHER******!” and laugh manically.
A Wild Dragon has appeared in Divinity’s Reach!
Queen Jennah has been slain.
Logan Thackery becomes very confused and distraught!
:D
Logan Thackery hurt himself in confusion!
Logan Thackery fainted!
Choose next Destiny’s Edge member?
Can’t escape!
Go! Rytlock!
To be honest, this is what the dragons should be doing now; attacking random outposts and such, with the fail state being you need to repair the place.
A loot table based on skill?
I like this idea. Would give incentinve to improve as opposed to waypoint zerg. Criteria such as Becoming defeated (not downed),
Skipping mobs would count against you, while reviving, interrupting big attacks, buffing party ect would add to your score.
Disagree.
It’s an MMO. Development time shouldn’t be diverted away from adding and improving group and existing content.
Focusing on single player content means that the group and existing content would suffer.
If anything, they need to make certain parts of open PvE:
I wouldn’t be against making Story Mode soloable, or at least doable with less players.
I’d say no on more instanced content. They need to focus on bringing more people back into the open-world, imo.
/totally agree
also, anything that helps making a Legendary a bit more different (in terms of you can do it this way or this way or this way or mix some ways up) is great
Out of curiosity, how far back did you have to go to find this suggestion?
And yeah, the main idea behind it was to encourage people to visit previous zones, without feeling they were losing out on Karma gain, Coin gain ect.
They’re working on a way to make the precursor.
Just saying.
Chances are Warriors haven’t got a Stability / Regen shout because Guardians have (“Hold The Line!” and “Stand Your Ground!”)
They could have just made “I Will Avenge You!” an Elite shout.
50+ people? Really?
I was in a group of just over 20 and we got it done.
If people do their own thing, the event is hard. If you organise yourself into small groups before the event, it’s a lot easier.

No kittenty dailys please. If you want dailys, go to wow, you have about 2~ hours of daily everyday.
Because the original GW didn’t have dailies, right?
What about scaling Daily Achievement, where you got a list of objectives, and the more objectives you complete, the higher the rewards, with specific rewards then tied to specific criteria?
So basically you want it nerfed because you can’t steamroll it?
To be honest, I would like it if the mesmer illusions were like that in WoW.
Now, before anyone is like ’You’re just upset cause they beat you’ or whatever. I’m rolling a mesmer. So no, i’m not upset.
Though mages in WoW can do the same thing with Mirror Image, which summons 3 clones of the mage to cast spells.
However – In WoW, these clones actually have a different name, they are labelled “Mirror Image” or something along those lines. It’s been a long while since i’ve played my mage on WoW, or WoW at all for that matter. BUT, the point is, it makes it a lot easier to tell them apart. It’s difficult to try and tell images/real apart when you’re cycling through at an alarmingly large rate.
As for the colors… I like it as they are now
It’s all prettyfuls
Clones deal no damage, and are used for misdirection. Making them have different names would defeat that purpose.
Phantasms, however, not only have a different name (Illusionary Beserker, for example), but they look different. They also deal damage / conditions.
OP:
Define ‘Manly’.
The meaning of words and phrases change over time the old paradigm of what p2w means is evolving to mean more than just stats of an item for sale by real money in game.
Having more gold than someone doesn’t mean you ‘win’ (unless your [not you personally] definition of winning is having more gold than someone else), so my point still stands.
Remove Personal Story from Orr
Uhh…isn’t the overarching theme of your story getting rid of Zhaitan? Who lives in Arah?
Saying getting rid of the Personal Story elements in Zhaitan’s homeland is like saying make fighting Voldemort in Harry Potter optional.
Reduce Mob Density
It’s the land of the Risen. Doesn’t it make sense to have a large number of Risen?
Optional
Outside of the Personal Story, it is optional.
All in all, what I got from this post is ‘make Orr more solo-friendly’, which should never be a solution in an MMO, IMO.
Frostgorge Sound it always there. That’s a nice area.
P2W? I don’t think you know what it means. P2W is when there’s an exclusive item in the cash shop that causes the player to have such an advantage that no amount of skill can surpass the gap:
SPvP boosts everyone to 80, unlocks all skills and gives standardized gear.
WvW is mostly group based, but at cap, Skill can surmount the difference in stats.
All content is available in-game.
Not seeing how the game is P2W.
Keep the B2P, since it guarantees money for further development.
Problem.
What about people who do not want Guild Wars 1 in their game?
If I wanted GW1 I would have downloaded it… after all that game is free…
But I don’t, and I don’t want to waste the space required to have GW1.
Uh, GW1 isn’t free. You got to buy the box.
And if you don’t want to do GvG, don’t. But at the same time, you shouldn’t deny people who want it.
I’m not going to go into why Guild Wars is called Guild Wars (twitch), but more game modes can’t be a bad thing.
I enjoy doing fractals, but it takes longer to find a group than to end a dungeon, even if i find a few friends in-game to do it, its hard to be online and in the mood for fractals at the same time, my irl friends dont play gw2 so it makes it even harder to find groups.
Find a good guild. And by good, I mean people who’ll help you enjoy the game.
Regardless of content, MMO’s are most fun when played with friends / friendly people with who you have common interests with.
