Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
Yeah, the account is bound to a single server, as opposed to individual characters.
Other than asking, you could always ask them to give you a demo of WvW. You should be able to work out then what server their on
I think it comes down to personal preference.
I have a blast with 3 of my friends, roaming WvW, retaking supply camps, waylaying supply Dolyaks ect. We could quite happily stick with that for a few hours, so for us, this is end-game.
How about if a player gets afflicted with Blind, the actual screen goes black, with your vision becoming more clear as it wears off?
For PvE mobs though, I got nothing.
I admit that it would be nice if achievement points had more to them than bragging rights
Was thinking about it earlier already, why not have some exclusive skins or something that you can buy if you get x amount of achievement points..?Well that wouldn’t fix the problem because using methods like mass-salvaging would be extremely easy and those skins wouldn’t be very special.
The problem is those infinitely resetting achievements.
It would if you needed the Achievement first.
Getting the Achievement unlocks the skin, and then the points are currency.
That’s because purple unicorns are ranged fighters.
Jokes aside, in DE’s, you’re at a disadvantage because of tagging (since you got to close the gap as well).
Dungeons are unforgiving for pure glass cannons as well.
As a Hammer / Dual Mace Warrior, I don’t often have problems with Dungeons. In DE’s though I find myself swapping to Greatsword for Bladetrail to tag mobs.
Judging from this thread I think it’s safe to say that the majority of the player base wants some form of meaningful achievement point progression. Maybe add bonus damage per 1000 AP? Constant Speed boost? Anything useful, really.
This community is nothing but a bunch of casuals enjoy your facebook app.
Elitism at it’s finest.
And the worth of something is only judged by the person earning it.
1) There aren’t any structured raiding (as in 10 – 25 man groups). Most big fights take place out in the world. Instanced content is 5-man only.
2) Find your own group, either in-game or through GW2LFG. No queuing for Dungeons. Just exercise your social skills a bit. Finding a guild would be a good idea
3) There have been a lack of players in the higher level zones since the Fractal of the Mists come out. However, I haven’t had much trouble leveling.
1) It’s not so much knowing what zone to be in for your level, but having it all make sense. Those breadcrumb quests that lead you to the next zone are the thing that ties each zone’s story into the main plot. The way it is now, every zone might as well just be a separate game. They don’t tie into each other at all.
2) But even still, copying WoW’s format isn’t a bad idea.
1) Scouts and Hearts tell the story of the area.
As for each zone being different, they are. Events cause problems for the NPC’s in that area constantly, as opposed to traditional quests, where you solve their problems by killing X number, so they send you on.
As for it tying into the main plot, we have the Personal Story for that. Even though Zhaitan is the main baddy, it doesn’t mean that each zone hasn’t got it’s own problems as well.
2) Copying WoW’s format would be a bad idea, because they do that format incredibly well. Anything less isn’t going to keep players around, which is why they need to work on their Dynamic Events. The one advantage ANet has on top of WoW is the foundation to create an immersive, persistant world, since WoW is stuck in the ‘follow quests, do dailies, raid’ format. You don’t make a half-baked version of what your competitor has worked on for the past x amount of years, since they’ll just go back to that one.
In addition to crafting for XP, make sure you use Discovery, since that nets you the most XP.
Also, if you’re doing a Heart, and see an Event, drop the Heart and go do the Event.
Also, go exploring off of the beaten track. Mobs that have been alive the longest net the most XP.
As for Events, keep an eye out for NPC’s shouting for help, since they’ll either point you out to an event that’s happening, or it’ll trigger an event in itself.
but that would be like every other mmo :/ not everyone can support a game like that due to lack of money. I dont play most mmos because of those fees, $15 a month 12 times is $180 plus $60 for buying the game(standard edition). so for the first year that would be $240 for one game. I like the idea of gems because you can support the game that way and get ingame money. if you cant afford gems you can just use ingame money ^^
You might want to look up the word ‘optional’
That being said OP, just buy gems every month. Same thing really.
I like this idea.
Although some are somewhat obvious for GW players (Jora’s Statue, for example), I’ve always wondered what made certain PoI important.
Maybe add a scavanger hunt based on lore clues?
Well, GW had 8 and 12 man content, so they might introduce something like that in the future.
Although I’d much prefer them to work on the open world event mechanics and AI, that make guilds an advantage.
Hint: it’s the fault of the game, not the player.
In response to comment about area levels (where to go next), and crafting:
Why is having parts of the game that requires you to work stuff out for yourself a bad thing?
Just my view copypasted from the article (meaning reading it like it is may not make much sense):
Roles are Horribly Unexplained and Unclear
Personally, concerning needing to have which weapons and traits are best for what, I disagree with your opinion.
As a person who enjoys experimenting, fine-tuning my builds and working things out for myself, I don’t think that spoon-feeding should be encouraged. Rather than have them say ‘Dagger/Dagger is best for Condition Thieves’, look at the skills, look at the Trait lines, and work it out. It costs nothing in the Mists to re-trait, meaning you can fine-tune your build and experiment to your hearts content.
As for the roles, on the old version of their website, they had descriptors for Control, Damage and Support. For the life of me I can’t think why they took them down.
I personally play a Control Warrior, with Shouts for top-up healing. Don’t do much damage, but at the same time, I have a lot of CC (meaning I can burn through stacks of Defiance fairly quickly ready to interrupt the next big attack) and support ability.
Dynamic events don’t work in their role as quest replacements
I do prefer the concept of events over ! and ? questing. For me, it offers way more immersion (which is only often ruined by the frequency of the events) than regular questing. While some events can get away with this (being in the heart of Orr, you expect to be under constant attack from Risen), others, not so much (bloody hell, they promoted that guy to Chieftain quick!)
In terms of execution and difficulty, DE’s (especially the dragon’s) need to be way, way harder in terms of tactics (although I think this is a scaling issue; done the Shatterer with 11 people, and boy was that fun), and more far-reaching. Pertinent Camp and Shelter’s Camp, for example. Why don’t the Risen attack the other camp through the tunnel if they take the one camp?
Area flow is problematic
I personally don’t find this a problem. Coming from WoW where you’re practically herded from zone to zone with quests, I much prefer the free-flow setup they have. If I want a bit of a challenge, I tend to leave for the next zone under-leveled. Scaling does need to be much harsher though.
Crafting is a freaking mess
I enjoy crafting. Discovery isn’t really that difficult to work out (mats have what level discipline they’re used in). The only thing I’d like is more top-end recipes for unique skins. Cooking is somewhat of a puzzle because there’s so many ingredients.
But again, I like puzzles. Cooking tends to occupy days in work if it’s quiet and I have literally nothing else to do.
The story is weak
Can’t really comment, since I haven’t completed my story yet. A lot of the pacing is kitten rushed though. 4 missions later and you’re high-ranking in your Order? Really?
I do feel that choices in your story could be brought more out into regular game-play though. Maybe receive missions from your Warband / Order (depending on your part of the story). Maybe Dinky needs your help with something? Maybe the Vigil need you to go help clean-up a Risen attack somewhere.
All in all, while I’m still enjoying the game a lot, it’s not perfect. They should look at the suggestion forums. Quite a few cool ideas there that would add to the game.
Well your first mistake was buying it, but yeah.
I’ve never understood the people who just hang around the forums to kitten.
Have you, like, got nothing better to do?
Yeah. I had to leave my computer on overnight after re-installing my computer.
It sucks, but it’s also the perfect time to get household stuff out of the way / to read up about the game in the Wiki / browse the Internet until you get to the wierd part / play another game ect.
As someone up above said, you’re better off, if installing on multiple machines, just to download onto one and then copy the .dat file. Lately I’ve taken to keeping a back-up of the .dat file whenever there’s an update just in case, providing you got a spare hard-drive.
Welcome, compadre!
The wiki has a host of info about the basics, so a quick look through there should set you up for common knowledge
Hope you have a good time in-game!
No books. Just add an achievement, no reward unnecessary.
The reward is to encourage people to go back to previous zones to do the books, as opposed to just going back to do the achievement
GW had something similar: Storybooks
i have some good ideas for Guildwars 2
first off the Wintersday event isn’t that good cause it is very short and doesn’t give anyone who have things to do in the real world a chance to participate in the activities while others can. i think they should make the Halloween update and the Wintersday update an all month thing and have something different for each week,
and also during the Wintersday event i saw that all the enemies in the update are all level 80 which is pretty unfair. i mean i know that the game bumps your level up to 80 but the equip u currently have may not sufficient. And it also seems that u have to have a large party/group to be able to do some of these. For this part the Halloween update was okay because it just auto assigned people to your party when fighting the Mad King. And in the Wintersday update it seems like that isn’t the case. Some people might be uncomfortable having to manually join a group where they know none of the people but if they are forced into it it seems a little less nerve racking. It just seems like some of this stuff is rushed and they didn’t take that much time in the feel for the game rather the looks. :/
1st: That’s cool and all, but if you got your own suggestion, you should make it as such, and not go posting in other suggestions that have nothing to do with it (known as derailing or hijacking a thread)
2nd: Paragraphs. Seriously. As a general rule, whenever you start another point, you use a new paragraph. If they’re all to do with the same topic, you could use a numbered list or bullet points. It just makes it easier to read, and people are more likely to read it.
3rd: Wintersday runs from 14th Dec to 2nd January. That’s close to a month. As it stands, I’ve done the majority of things, despite only playing close to 2 hours a week (curse you RL).
4th: For grouping, and it being unfair, what can I say? It’s an MMO. You’d be grouping up with the people whether it is manually or auto, so just flex your social skills and get it done
5th: I managed to do Tixx on my level 32 Necro. Skill can bridge the gap of stats (to a certain extent) when you got the boost.
Why is it with ponies?
That part is confusing me.
If you’re not a “Broni”, then why in the world would you recognize their voices? I watched the video first before reading replies and I had no idea who the female voices in the music were…. just sayin.
(Mandatory on topic sentence to avoid forum bans): I believe this was patched to not be a problem.
I did say up above. I was unable to watch the video because my phone wouldn’t let me watch it.
Anyhows, at what point did I say I recognised the voices?
I love this idea, especially since the purification process can be story-driven.
Why was the weapon cursed? By whom? How did they do it? Ect ect
They’ve actually got quite a few weapons referencing RL mythology (Bifrost [which given what the Bifrost is, the look actually makes sense], Mjolnir, Naegling to name a few)
I’d love to see Cultural Legendaries introduced, available only to that race (Pyre’s Bow, Devona’s Hammer, Vexx’s Stave, Jora’s Targe ect). I’d also love for Legendaries to be tied in with the lore (i.e. Twilight is actually Grenth’s blade as he done battle with Dwayna ect).
if i fill the book, can i trade it in for Gold and Karma?
Firstly: kitten your sig. I now got that blasted song in my head -.-
OT:
Yeah. EXP, Karma and coin would scale depending on how many pages you filled in. Tying in with another idea of Area Rep, books would also award a chunk, scaling with how many pages are completed.
Tne scaling of rewards, imo, should increase progressively (i.e., 1, 2, 4, 7, 11 as opposed to 1,2,3,4,5) to encourage people to fill as much as the book as possible.
I guess that could work. I’d really like for it to be a Blast Finisher though. The animation is totally right for it.
Or maybe a clause that if it misses, it Bleeds or Vulnerable nearby foes / creates a Smoke field (what with all of the dust)
Add Vulnerability on first two then only refresh duration on third?
Yup. It should have a condition attached to it at least.
Vulnerability would make more sense on a Hammer than a GS.
I suggest Pony.
1) It’s a four letter word.
2) Some parts of the net consider it tantamount to swearing.
Both good points, but as you’ll note, ‘Pony’ is already in my list of suggested words
I must be blind then, because Ican’t see it
‘puppy’,‘tadpole’,‘bunny’,‘piglet’,‘joey’,‘lamb’,‘pony’,‘panda’
Bah, no wonder I couldn’t see it. Phone wasn’t showing anything past lamb.
Apologies
I suggest Pony.

They’re just awesome!
Your name suddenly makes sense.
But why you’d want to abuse the chicken is beyond me.
Paired with the Guardian, that would be incredibly OP.
Retaliation being applied to everyone in range that quickly?
I’d say make skill 5 a Blast finisher though, along with Mace skill 5 (the Straight line KD)
I suggest Pony.

yet i’d prefer they would have added gw2 lore specific content, adding a new explorable regions for example.
I just don’t like holidays related content because from a gamer point of view it will detract from the immersion, and from my (real person) point of view it will detracts from enjoying my holidays with the people i’d like to celebrate them with.
Technically, Mad King Thorn (and by proxy, Halloween) are part of the GW lore.
In Feb we’ll most likely see the return of Canthan New Year. April will give us April Fool’s.
After they’ve produced the framework for the holidays, we’ll most likely start seeing perma-content updates in tandem with holiday events.
What is this?
According to ANet, there are around 1100 events in-game. However, as players, we have no way of knowing how many in an area we have seen.
The Suggestion
Create an achievement title track for the number of events a player has completed for that area, keeping track of only events completed first time around.
For example, if Blazeridge Steppes has 40 events, the track for Blazeridge would only advance when you’ve done each event once. I.E repeating the defend the guard event over and over won’t progress the title track beyond doing it the first time.
Possible Addition
For replayability, in each area an NPC gives out a journal that you can fill, where you get rewarded depending on how many events you fill in.
Dungeon Finder
As much as this could be a good idea for low population servers, I can’t count the number of times that I’ve seen people in Lion’s Arch asking for a group, and them same people (sometimes more than enough to make a group) are still there 20 mins later. I think people just need to flex their social skills rather than queue, get on with the dungeon, leave.
Raids and Guild Progression
As it is, Fractals are already taking a lot of people out of the world.
Maybe have progression systems for:
You mean like the lost shores update we just had?
But it doesn’t count because no one wants a new tier of gear, a grindy dungeon, a new sPvP map, and zone that no one goes to.
-_-
That’s a pretty broad statement to say NO-ONE wants it.
Besides, they said they’ll be adding to the new area in the future.
And the dungeon is only grindy if you grind it.
Why is it with ponies?
That part is confusing me.
1. This is the first year, so they got to create the holiday events.
2. We’ve had holidays that have been quite close together.
Given these two things, after they’ve created all of their holiday events, they can then focus on other contnet updates.
GW was quite well known for its holiday events, so that’s something they’d want to carry over.
1) The game is designed so that you will buy gold, to obtain the rarest rewards. totally P2W.
2) They may as well just sell the skins in the cash-shop and be done with it.
1) You don’t win if you use RL money to get stuff. By that definition, it isn’t P2W. P2W is when you have no option other than to use RL money in order to bridge a gap that skill cannot overcome.
2) Or, instead of just coming on the forums and whining, you could go in-game and get the skins like purely through playing? Seriously, what’s it to you if someone wants to put money down for some sparkly pixels?
Old-school MMO : A person making 25K a year was equal to a person making $250K , in the game world. Now they are not. The MMO was an escape into another world, where we are all equal and only hard work and dedication would bring you great rewards. Now you just open your real world wallet. It has killed what an MMO used to be.
It really doesn’t make a difference.
I have converted no gems to gold, and I have full Exotics. Therefore I’m still equal to someone who spent real money to get their gear. I am also half-way to getting my Foefire’s Essence.
Just because other people do it, doesn’t mean you have to cheapen the game for yourself.
Not to mention there’s goldselling in every game. To think that everyone played by the rules (and therefore, in your books, are equal) is naive.
I want an MMO where real money only allows access to log in. When in game, all content is obtained/experienced through game play. Period.
I feel those types of games are gone.
Please tell.
What content can’t you access through gameplay?
you miss my point entirely
Enlighten us.
I thought your point was that you couldn’t access all content unless you used real money.

How do you ‘win’ by leveling to 80 that way?
My level 80 for whom I crafted all of my gear for without the aid of real money can kick backside in WvW.
Immobulus.
It looks like it’s got Lucky Charms coming out of it.
@Rukia
They said there’d be no dedicated healer right from the beginning. Not quite sure why that would be an issue.
The rest I agree on though.
OP:
You say you might sound nolstagic, but most of the stuff you complain about was in GW, and most of your suggestions go against GW design:
Not saying I disagree with your suggestions. Just confused by your implying that these weren’t in GW1.
Also, some of your wording is confusing i.e when talking about progression, vertical progression doesn’t make other progression forfeit.
TL;DR – While I agree PvE could have more, I’m confused where the ‘nostalgia’ is
1) Mesmers can only have 3 Clones and Phantasms up at a time, total. Phantasms are the ones who deal the damage. Clones don’t do that much damage and are mostly shatter-fodder.
2) The whole point of Mesmers is misdirection, hence the stealth / clones.
3) Blink is on a 30 sec cooldown (24 sec traited), not 15. Portal is a 90 sec cooldown, and Phase Retreat is 10 sec, and only available to Staff Mesmer.
4) Moa skill can be dodged / line of sighted / blocked with Aegis. And while in Moa, you aren’t entirely helpless, since you can still dodge and sprint. Although I agree that the duration could be reduced a bit.
5) In your point, Thief should be taken out of PvP as well? Insane burst, stealth, teleports.
As it is, Daily Achievements have 4 set requirements.
My suggestion is to add to that, and scale the rewards depending on how many you complete.
For example:
4 Tasks – 3% EXP, 5s, Jug of Karma, Mystic Coin, Chance of additional Loot
6 Tasks – 4% EXP, 7s 50c, Jug of Karma, 2 Mystic Coins, Increased Chance of Additional Loot
8 Tasks – 5% EXP, 10s, 2 Jug of Karma, 3 Mystic Coins, Increased Chance of Additional Loot, Chance of [Bag of Crafting Materials] containing Rare Mats (ecto’s, lodestones ect)
10 Tasks – 6% EXP, 12s 50c, 2 Jugs of Karma, 5 Mystic Coins, Increased Chance of Additional Loot, Chance of [Bag of Crafting Materials] containing Rare Mats (ecto’s, lodestones ect)
12 Tasks – 7% EXP, 15s, 3 Jugs of Karma, 6 Mystic Coins, Increased Chance of Additional Loot, Chance of [Bag of Crafting Materials] containing Rare Mats (ecto’s, lodestones ect)
14 Tasks – 8% EXP, 17s 50c, 3 Jugs of Karma, 7 Mystic Coins, Increased Chance of Additional Loot, Chance of [Bag of Crafting Materials] containing Rare Mats (ecto’s, lodestones, T6 mats ect), Chance of [Bag of Fabled Items] containing materials for Legendary weapons (Obsidian Shards, Mystic Clovers, Crystals ect)
Possible Additional Tasks
Complete a Fractal
Complete a Story-Mode Dungeon
Complete an Explorable Mode Dungeon
Retake a Temple in Orr
Raise Fractal Difficulty by One
Do / Redo 1 / 3 / 5 Hearts
Do / Redo a JP
Earn 20 / 30 / 50 Influence for your Guild
Participate in a Meta Event
Kill 2 / 4 / 6 Veteran Mobs
Kill 1 / 2 / 3 Champions
Kill a Dragon
Free 1 / 3 / 5 Contested Waypoints
Gain 10 / 20 / 30 Achievement Points
Gather 1 / 3 / 5 Different Varieties of Ore
Gather 1 / 3 / 5 Different Varieties of Wood
Gather 1 / 3 / 5 Different Varieties of Plant
Hearts
I suggested something like this, but had a number of different tasks (Hearts, Different Events, Bounty) that gained you rep with that area, that would progress a title track [Assistant / Hero / Saviour / Paragon of said area] that would lower waypoint costs across that area.
Weekly Temples
I like this idea (although Frostgorge Sound is my home ATM). It’s also given me inspiration for another idea where you have a number of things to do as a Daily Requirement, and the more you do, the more rewards you get.
Achievement Unlockables
Achievement Unlockables are skins / emotes / titles ect that can be unlocked by progressing through that particular title track, with rewards improving as you progress.
For Example, the Weapon Master achievement would earn titles and weapon skins for that particular weapon as you progress.
Using Sword as an example:
Another example is the Slayer Achievement (Ghosts, for example):
(Tiers start from T2 in the Achievements to keep in line with Zhaitan’s Bane and Centaur Slayer. For the record, Centaur Slayer should totally give you a Rancher title and cowboy / girl armour skin.)
Achievement Points As Currency
Now, when you’ve unlocked the skins, you use your Achievement Points as currency to make them obtainable, in a way such as Glory (where you don’t actually lose your total value).
How about just don’t do them?
They’re entirely optional at the end of the day. Not to mention the Fractal one is more of a jump from platform to patform. Not really that hard.
Personally, I enjoy them, and would be gutted if they took them out simply because some people didn’t like them.
Can’t answer the first, but I can’t see them putting an in-game voice channel in.
Takes up a tonne of bandwidth on their end.
What?
Also please please please please change the model on this great sword. It is just a copy of the elementalist’s GS they can spawn. Kind of sad.:(
That’s the point:
Mjolnir is the same as Lightning Hammer
Titan’s Revenge is the same as Lava Axe
Wintersbite is the same as Frost Bow
Can’t remember the Magnetic Shield one.
Since the skins are quite nice, they got perma versions as well
