Still, I wonder: What happened to the promise that Elementalist would be one of the most versatile professions out there? An excellent healer when into water, decent survivability when in earth, top-notch damage when in fire?
I always liked this versatility and this is one of the reasons why I play S/D Celestial in both PvE and WvW.
Well, the current meta doesn’t fit my play style and if the current state of the game does not allow much build diversity I’ll have to live with less-than-optimal results. Thanks anyways.
A few weeks ago I got knocked INTO a wall at Kyhlo. Fortunately, my competitors were kind enough to AOE me towards a respawn.
…but losing all of my health in under one second? This is just ridiculous.
I can’t even try to fight back against this. (Me=Elementalist, competitor was Thief)
Am I supposed to invest heavily in the toughness attribute as Elly?
Not broken here.
Will there ever be another WvW tournament? The last one was in 2014 which is quite a while ago.
Could you please make it possible to complete the Year of the Ascension achievements with a single character? I’ve been playing PvP quite a bit recently with my main Elly and only active character. Currently reached the Champoin Magus title but the Year of the Ascension are stuck for me because they currently require at least two different professions.
For me, Celestial Elementalist.
The all-stats bonus helps quite a bit staying alive. I have no experience with other professions tho.
A Brief History of Time According to Sapience
ease keep in mind; the measurements below are highly accurate (as are their relationships to each other). However, the descriptions are for entertainment purposes only. Unless you win money, then you owe me 10%.
At some point in the future (also, At some point)
We’re in pure Nostradamus territory here.* We have a magic 8 all and even it is saying, “Ask again later”.
In the future
This isn’t going to happen during any variety of soon you care to use. In fact, it’s pretty far out there. Not as far as ‘at some point’ but we’re certainly not suggesting you book vacation time just yet.* But at least we’re probably talking about something that is possible within the current time line. Assuming, of course, the Mayans got it wrong and we’re still here after all that crazy ‘end of the world’ stuff.
In the near future
This is absolutely, positively, without question, a possibility. In fact, it might even be a real possibility. But as to when, we’ll have to get back to you on that one.
Soon™
No lie. It’s going to happen. It’s going to happen really freakin’, like, eventually. But it will happen!
“Soon”
It’s official! We have given consideration to a possible date and we now have several possibilities!
Soon
We’ve narrowed the date down to something within the calendar year!
soon
No really, we have a date now! It’s even penciled in on a calendar somewhere!
MoreSoonerish
We have a date, and we’re probably going to tell you what that date is…soon!
As soon as possible
Time being the slippery thing it is, this has quite probably already happened.* If not, it is very likely to happen while someone is typing up the message telling you when it will happen. Assuming, of course, that it is, in fact, possible.
Tomorrowish-esque™
This is going to happen within the next 24 hours. Give or take some random number of hours which may or may not exceed an amount equal to the number of miles between the reader and the International Date Line divided by 163.97241. Unless the person is actually standing on the International Date Line at the time of reading, in which case the world will end in a cataclysmic divide by zero error and none of this will matter anyway. This is all barring any conflicts with ‘The Schedule’, of course.
NOW!
Never gonna happen!
Modifiers, adjustments, and other fun stuff.
Capitalization
As a general rule, capitalization will tip you off as to a measurement’s place in time. Capital letters denote a longer period of time than lower case letters. This applies to all uses of capitalization when dealing with time. Thus Soon is longer than soon. Likewise, MoreSoonerish, Moresoonerish, and moresoonerish are all incremetally shorter periods from longest to shortest.
TM and its uses;
The notorious ™ has very specific meanings. It denotes a longer period of time than the word or phrase would otherwise represent without the addition of the ™.
“Quotes"
The use of quotes, like the use of TM and Capitalization has specific meaning. It is another measure of extending the noted period of time. Though it denotes a shorter extension than either ™ or Capitalization.
Combined notation
When you see a combination of modifiers (™, quotes, and capitalization) you must consider the impact of all modifiers on the base measurement. The more modifiers, the larger the expansion of time from the base measurement.
Addendum A: Spooky Stuff
It’s on schedule
This relates exclusively to a highly theoretical method of calculating time commonly referred to as, ‘The Schedule’. The Schedule is part of an emerging understanding of time called Quantum Sapience Time. Schedule Time has the amazing ability to exist, not exist, and potentially exist or not exist all at the same instant. It is only the act of observing The Schedule that forces it into a fixed state in which the normal rules of Sapience Time apply. This is commonly called “entanglement”. Entangling one’s self with The Schedule is a very risky proposition as it can lead to temporal disorientation. Especially as it does not require one to be in any physical proximity to The Schedule. Albert Einstein himself referred to this as “Spooky action at a distance.”
Addendum B: Backward Causality:
We told you so
Any attempt to look back upon or view the flow of Sapience Time from a future point will amplify and enhance the predictive and pre-deterministic nature of soon. The effect of this observance is to reveal the perfect accuracy of all predictions within the fabric of the Sapience Time Continuum. In short, the act of releasing content will cause the time line to become self-evident and clearly predictive of the exact moment in the future at which the release will happen when viewed from that future.

I guess the game’s soundtrack fits my char perfectly

I’ve never seen the map empty, but I guess I’m glad I played all the events when the map was new before moving on to other content.
Would like to see the guy with 70 alts in a dungeon just chilling while they kill stuff for him/her….
Let the new AFK farming begin.
GW1 had a maximum party size of 8 with max 7 (mercenary) heroes. So a maximum can be just set.
Having said that, the introduction of (mercenary) heroes will require a MAJOR rework of the game mechanics since most stuff is now made to be solo-able. So, even tho I support the idea, I consider the chances to be low to see this realized.
(edited by TheQuickFox.3826)
Mercenary Heroes. Fine for me, but be sure to also introduce GW1-style configurable heroes to players who do not have or play alts. Otherwise it is Very unbalanced towards players who have/play single char.
No, you were not. You were downed again just before you got finished. I DL, ed the video, played in slomo to see.
I bought the watchwork mining pick in 2015 for 500 gems during the anniversary sales. I’ll just wait to see if other endless tools will ever have a good discount. Buying a 3-infinite set now is just a waste of my gems.
I’m all for it. This could be a saviour for users who regret their choice of their main. And a nice chance for ANet to sell some gems.
For me personally: No, I won’t use it. I’ll stay with Human, I’m quite comfortable with that.
Why doesn’t ANet match same-ranked players together? It would be much more fun for all ranks. Let bronze players have casual fun together and let gold players have die-hard combat together. Everyone happy.
Not too much if it only affects sigils on legendary weapons.
It will be minute in comparison to the crash of the dollar when everyone finds out how many the Fed brought into the market.
As achievement hunter, I would love to see the Season 1 returned as I missed all of it including the chance to unlock the achievements within.
It would be nice to have a trading post filter for items with locked skins.
As achievement-hunter I would love to play Season 1 and go for all the achievements locked behind it.
While I am a GW2 player from the first public beta, I missed out almost the entire Season 1 because I had serious problems adapting to GW2’s weapon-based skill system.
Now I am well back into the game I would love to replay the content I missed and obtain the achievement points that come with it. Please give all players the chance to play this content and obtain the achievements by re-releasing it into the game. Thanks.
“Trophy” storage would be welcome. This item category tends to clutter up my bags while I have no clue wether I never need these items again.
Elementalist PvP has been completely broken for me since I started playing it last season.
I like to play Celestial S/D ele to have some survivability while still doing some damage. Having a nice compromise between ranged combat and melee range.
But everything I like in my PvE and WvW build is unavailable. Celestial armor. Sigil of Malice. Sigil of Bursting.
I end up playing with a completely broken build. When I select damage stats I get one-shotted by rangers and thieves. When I select a defensive amulet I deal no damage. Sure, there are completely different builds that work for other players. But other weapon builds do not fit my play style or require too much micro-managing.
Well, I can still rank up by losing, but more than bronze I won’t ever get. And it is not much fun. Still, I like to at least get a bit of the massive amount of achievement points that are available in the sPvP tree.
The current dungeon difficulty are difficult enough for me personally. I’m glad I finally got my Dungeon masters achievement last month.
Having said that, I don’t really have problems with an additional, optional hard mode. Just don’t expect me to survive it tho.
after purchase $79.99 game, what should i do

Open “Contacts and LFG” > Looking for Group > World Bosses and join a World bosses tour/train group for some time. This is quite a fun and epic experience for new players and it quite rewarding as well with achievement points and drops.
Dead horse, meet stick.

Maybe, just maybe, we will be able to ride dead horses this year.

As most of you know, Living World Season 1 is currently not playable. This results in many achievement points to remain unobtainable for players who missed the events or joined the game later.

Celestial Scepter/Dagger build
This is what I’ve been using for years now. Not the best according to most players but I like it because it is versatile, provides decent survivability and most importantly, fits the way I enjoy playing my Elly.
My Elly and main char Aranimda.
Unlink the skills from the weapons, allowing free choice of skill combinations like GW1 had.
But what about Scepter/Dagger Cele-Ele? Most replies here have been about D/D and Tempest builds. I don’t think that S/D Celestial has been overpowered.
As PvP Celestial it does not exist, at least atm, does anyone have a nice Elementalist Scepter/Dagger build for PvP? I don’t see any on the MetaBattle site.
Preferably something balanced between offense, defense and healing.
I love to play Guild Wars 2 as Celestial Scepter/Dagger Elementalist. The build is probably not the best out there and far from the current ‘meta’ but I like the versatility of this general purpose build and fits the way I like to play. It works fine in PvE and WvW, and I recently started playing PvP. But there I can’t select it. Can this please be added? Thanks a lot!
Let it be Cantha.
I want to open that Xunlai chest in my HoM.
It would be nice if the Raid masteries were just unlocked, allowing players to obtain the mastery points elsewhere if they prefer to and still make it to the maximum mastery rank.
Many players actually like to join a raid group but are disallowed to join because they don’t have or want to play the ‘meta’ builds.
New Player, Sad Player. Expansion ruined it.

I agree quite a bit with the topicstarter. HoT isn’t solo-player friendly. I’ve been one-shotted way too many times. (Cloth-armor class)
I’ve had more fun in the living world episodes after HoT release (which have been absolutely wonderful) than the actual expansion.
Still, for group play HoT has been nice.
The boomboxes, please.
DX11 (For Win7 users) and DX12 (For Win10 users) support would be nice for a small free performance boost.
Still, I think Guild Wars 2 looks utterly amazing in DX9.
Yes, I would fight alongside the Ascalonian Spirits to reclaim the Human Kingdom of Ascalon. Let’s hunt some charr!
Grinding a few hours for your boss, buy gems with the ‘loot’, exchange for gold.
9 organized attempts further. With skilled commander. 9 fails. But I’ll keep trying.
I’ve been trying many times to get to get any success killing ONE of the wurms. Most of the time we have small groups with no commanders and we (obviously) fail but also on large groups with very skilled commanders who know the strategy and squads REALLY doing their best we fail because we did not make it in time. It would be nice if this event could become a but more accessible to average and above players by giving us at least more time to get the wurms down.
Yes, I know, there are more skilled players who completed these, I see the titles around from time to time but success would be welcome to an other part of the player base who really tries but does not make it time after time after time.

Guild Wars 1 has connectivity issues as well. Players are getting booted from the game and are unable to log back in for a while.
Cantha.
I always hoped for a toggle button to show/hide footwear. The invisible skin is a nice solution as well but the prices/drop rate is insane. It is currently around 2500/3000 gold which is around 200 USD if you buy it through gems.
Please make it accessible to most players by adding a toggle or massively increasing drop rate.
Please add GW2-style camera controls to GW1. Especially the Field of View setting would be very welcome on 21:9 UltraWide monitors.
With the current options you lose quite a bit of vertical viewing degrees when you switch to a ultra-wide screen. (2560×1080, 3440×1440 etc.)
As seen in this gameplay video I recorded yesterday:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B72ncHER3-U
I’m making some screen recordings of my char with some of the most beautiful animated GW2 scenery, to use as Windows DreamScene deskop background. However I get annoyed by the character idle animations. Please make an option to disable them. Thank you.
Yes, I can go back to GW1: Factions. But it is deserted most of the time. Fort Aspenwood was beautiful and fun, from both sides. God, I miss these times. Got both my Kurzick and Luxon rank maxed from just this one mission. (Yes, crazy me) Too bad there is nothing like Aspenwood nowadays and impossible to get into there in GW1.
I would love to wander around in the pretrified forest again. To see the vast plans of the jade see once more. To explore the endless city of Kaineng and see the peaceful Shin Jea island again.
Any chance to see any of this back in GW2? Will it be solo-player friendly? Unlike the HoT expansion where you get one-shotted all the time when you as single roamer try to achieve something.
Yeah, sure, let the b*tching begin below. About how I suck at HoT or how it has been posted before. But I just like to give my honest opinion. Hoping the dev team does not forget about their beautiful legacy of GW:Factions.
