Guild Mission Reset Time Changed

are the people complaining serious ? or just trolling ?

seriously, your schedule changed for one week, get over it

you can go on with your regular lives next week

As I mentioned in my previous reply, this is a real issue for guild missions, and this isn’t just a one week problem.

If the reset is permanently moved to a weekday, it kills the ability for a guild to host two weekend mission outings to allow players to make-up missions the following weekend. If your guild doesn’t already do this, then it may take some extra explanation:

Weekend session #1 occurs sometime before reset and allows players who were unable to attend the prior week’s guild outing to get rewards for all the missions for the about-to-end week.

Weekend session #2 occurs sometime after reset and is essentially the main guild mission outing for players to get mission rewards for the newest week. Players who can’t attend this outing can attend the following weekend’s pre-reset session to get the mission rewards.

By moving the reset to a weekday, the strategy above is no longer an option. Regardless of when a guild session is held on a weekend, the missions would not be able to straddle the reset time, and thus they would count toward the same week.

So why not move the guild sessions to Mondays so we can straddle the new reset? Our players have significantly more availability on weekends which is the main reason why we do guild events on weekends. I suspect that higher weekend availability is true for many other guilds as well. Weekdays pose many time constraints to our players due to jobs, school or other obligations. As a result, if we tried shifting our pre/post guild mission sessions to Mondays to try to straddle the reset, several guild members might not be able to attend either session, and many might only be able to ever attend the post-reset session. Due to conflicts with work or school a large number of players would never be able to attend the pre-reset session to try to make up mission they missed during the prior week’s post-reset session.

What if you did it backwards, so to speak. The first mission of the week is Monday at some point at whatever time you have that has the most people that can attend (or even some other day. Doesn’t have to be Monday). The catch up mission for those who missed the one during the week is the same catch up mission time that you’ve been having.

Maybe i am misunderstanding your question but i feel like they already addressed those points by saying that some people’s availability limit them to only really being able to play on the weekends.

Then they can do the one on Saturday.

But what if they do not have enough people to run a guild mission except on the weekend? And before anyone says that they can’t cater to everyone, i don’t think its a super rare thing that someone might not have the time to devote to an mmo unless it’s the weekend.

I have no idea how interviewers decide which questions to ask ANET staff, but i imagine it takes more than a person or two wanting to know before they decide the question is worth the time. And in many interviews the people get asked about super adventure box so i feel like there are a noticeable amount of people who care about it.

Maybe could we at least get some kind of explanation? Like whatever was causing this to work was also causing other unintended thing that was actually causing problems?

This seems perfectly reasonable.

Let’s imagine that SAB bugs were related to this. One step closer …….

Of course! now it makes complete sense. Sab things were one hitting the chosen one because they were angry about the quaggan rave dance! Good job anet, working on sab behind the scenes.

The objective of Precursor crafting was never to make it easier to get a Precursor (the design is not intended to match the COST of buying one, but rather to match the amount of effort/time required to forge one). The objective of Precursor crafting is to give players a non-RNG method where progress can be advanced towards the goal.

There is already a way like that. You can progress towards the goal of buying a precursor with by farming gold. Those precursors were initially obtained by RNG but i have never seen a time when there were no precursors of a certain type on the TP so it is safe to say that there will always be one on there that you can work to buy. Players wanted a third option that wasn’t entirely dependant on RNG or farming large sums of money. This method (seems) to bring the money farming plus a lot of running around.

So since it’s obvious we can’t agree if it is a problem, maybe we can suggest a better price ratio that we (people who do have a problem with the price) can agree would seem more fair. As in like total cost of crafting pre = some percent of pre’s average price on the trading post. i think i would be fine if the collection cost about half as much as the pre.

I didn’t understand something and i assume i missed it so if someone could explain it to me i would appreciate it. Currently guilds can do 5 different guild missions for weekly credit. Bounties, treks, challenges, puzzles, and rush’s. I saw all the different sections in the new tab with weekly (easy, medium, and hard) Opportunities as well as three other opportunities separate to each game type. So my question is how many of those are separate things you can do each week. For instance can you do one easy, medium hard opportunity and also each of the separate game type opportunity for a total of 6 guild missions each week?

I see people asking for low cost high grind pre’s… I never thought that this is what was being asked for by the majority of people. I thought people were just wanting a way of obtaining them without having to rely on mystic forge RNG… and that part seems fair enough to me.

If they were to make pre’s too cheap to obtain then the T6 market etc. would spike and just make up that cost difference anyways, so I don’t see the point in that. If you were to make a high grind, then you could have spent that same time grinding for gold, so it doesn’t change things much and again I don’t see the point.

We have always had a non RNG way, buying them off of the trading post. So what people wanted is a new way with less cost and more grind.

Not everyone has access to the beta so asking them to do that is pretty unhelpful. guildwars2 is the only game that i can play with all of my friends that is fun. I don’t play any other games with some of these people and guild missions are the only time we all get online to see each other. The reason we don’t do it during other times of the week is because there isn’t really much to do but guild missions give us the reason to get together. I will dearly miss missions this week if they don’t do a double reset because there are people i won’t get to see for another week.

People are overestimating the amount of gold required. The majority of the collections are about doing stuff rather than buying stuff.

Is my math accurate?

However there are mats that have a price on the TP and are required to complete the precursor. For example, the volume 1 recipe requires 5g, let’s say that all of them need 5g for a total of 15g for the recipe alone.
Then we have this:
http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/gw2-legendary-precursor-collection-4.jpg
The Experimental hammer haft requires 10 Spiritwood Planks. That’s 50g there (5g per Plank)
The Legendary Inscription requires:
10 Globs of Ectoplasm (at 39s each, 3g 90s)
5 Piles of Crystalline Dust (at 23s each, 1g 15s)
Orichalcum Plated Dowel (60s)
10 Elonian Leather Squares (at 3g 50s each, 35g total)
For a total of 90g 60s per tier of the precursor.
You might need those 3 times (3 tiers), because you will need to craft three tiers total, for a price of 271g 80s
This excludes the second component, the Legendary Hammer Head in the case of Colossus, because we don’t know what kind of materials we will need for that. I’d assume it will require 10 Deldrimor Ingots (to be in line with the 10 Spiritwood Planks for the Haft) so there is a good chance the price will be +121g 50s = 393g 30s + 15g for the volume recipes = 408g 30s in materials alone.
I apologize if I made math mistakes above, and we don’t know if we will need to craft all three tiers and not just one. I’m also assuming each tier of the precursor requires the same materials (haft/head/inscription is the same each tier)
The Colossus is ~800-900g and with precursor crafting you can make it with 410g, is the rest of going around and doing the other collections “worth” 400g? That’s up to the individual player to decide.
But what happens with precursors that are valued below 400g? That’s the big question.

400g for a precursor? Good for some precursors, rather bad for others.

I just wanted to thank you for not arguing and presenting the fact’s and opinions in a way that the average player can understand. I wasn’t sure how i felt about this in the beginning but after reading your post i feel like i understand the possible situations better and i hope they forgo some of the price even if they feel like they need to add some more adventuring.

They really should do two resets. Didn’t they use to do two daily resets like ALL THE TIME whenever they made a change on patch day? I feel like remember it happening a lot that people who had done there daily’s got on and found that they could do it again that day and it really wasn’t a huge deal. The ONLY thing many people in my guild come online to do are guild missions and if we are not able to do them on saturday we will not be opening GW2 and that isn’t a threat just a sad truth.

There was already a non rng way of getting a precursor. Grinding out the gold required to buy it off the trading post. With the addition of this new scavenger hunt, you have the option of spending that gold on the pre from the tp, or over the course of 30 days spending (probably) close to the same amount on crafting ascended materials.

When im doing a fractal 50 and ask everyone if they want whatever potion makes the most sense with the boss we get, It takes me forever to mail them all out and sometimes i just don’t feel like dealing with the hassle. The only in-game mail i have ever gotten from someone that wasn’t real was once some dude mailed me that my account was compromised and i had to do something to stop it from being deleted. but it obviously said not a guild-wars2 team member on it so i really don’t feel like these stop gold sellers at all. And the excessive messaging in chat is awful too, doing the guild rush for spiders, there is a really helpful teleport spot that most people see to run right by, but i can’t say it in say chat for everyone i see because after 4 or 5 people i get suppressed.

Why on earth would they pull a trump card like SAB while the game is hyped for HOT and or after HOT is launched and that content is still fresh?

Would make more sense to do something like SAB during a sort of low point in game hype.

For instance if they continue this strange 3 year expansion cycle doing SAB 1.5 years after HOT has been out would make more sense.

Not really, if they included world 3 and 4 of SAB in HOT they would have sold way more copies in advance. And the game has been starving for any sort of content for a year almost: they should have released SAB world 3 when the living story ended if they wanted filler content.

Anyway I don’t see how HoT can keep me playing more than a year with the little PvE area that was shown and the lackluster Tempest spec. It better be a big surprise in scale upon release, specially for a price that is almost that of the full game.

I dont know about way more prepurchases of HOT but i for one would have HOT prepurchased if it was garuanteed to include even just sab world’s 1&2
