If only there were some way to change anets priorities about sab :/
if we all close our eyes at the same time and wish realllllly hardddd….
Do you believe everything people tell you?
To be honest, if they wanted to lie about it, they could have done so weeks ago. Enable the HoM and say they fixed it.
If they were going to lie why would they lie like that? A much better lie would be too say they were close to finishing it and then just not release the fix for over a month because it would get people off there backs. btw, they said they were close, seriously. to the fix about 33 days ago
I suppose you’ve never done something and thought you were close to being finished, then discovered you only just started? Things happen, and there were responses after that one that you are referring to, I’ve given links to 2 of them before Lauren responded.
Did either of those responses say something to the effect of, i know we said we were close seriously about a month ago but then we had some setbacks and are now going to take a bit longer. Or did they both just say keep waiting in nice words and ignore the we’re close seriously?

I’m glad we got a nice official answer, definitely makes me feel a bit better. But i wish they would put more of an importance on sab on the inside of anet :/ I too worry that once the expansion is out they will be too busy with living world season 3 to work on sab right now and then too busy on working on some feature patch or wvw tournament or pvp ladders. Maybe while we wait we can keep discussing things that we all want to see in sab, for instance like a game controller that when used teleports you to the hub world for whatever the captains airship was priced at when it was released.
But don’t worry guys, they were close seriously like over a month ago. I’m sure the close bar has moved into defcon super ultra soon.
I mean i dont expect SAB but nothing will ever kill my hope <3
Yeah if they were close over a month ago i assume something bad happened and i agree that it would be nice if someone took a second to pop in with a " Hey guys, sorry to say this but during our recent tests the fix had some big problems so it looks like it’ll be a while again"
This is why they so rarely say that they are close
It’s because of all the 6/23 bugs. People keep making new posts about them instead of googling to find the old ones. I say google of course since the in forum search feature sucks
Well they were “close, seriously!” like 30 days ago
Just tossing my agreement into the ring that i would like the hover function back (when you get a chance) and i dont think it would need any of the additional currencies on it. Just the ones we had before.
It’s just the title they’re worried about, right? Nobody was able to get in and claim skins or pets when the bug happened, so it’s just the title?
I’m really not sure why they didn’t just change the GWAMM title to something minor like “Lucky”, implement a new GWAMM title, and tell everyone that has HoM points they need to reclaim it. Seems it would be faster than trying to edit it off of specific accounts.
They haven’t said for sure that no one got any skins that day. But there are up to 11 titles they’d have to remove (some people just got around 39 points unlocked, where others managed to get enough to get to GWAMM), not just the GWAMM title. Then there’s the 50 AP for each 5 points unlocked, plus any AP chest rewards people may have received from those AP. So, no, it’s not as simple as taking away the one title, I’m afraid. :\
It is 100% sure that nobody got any skins that day. The Hot was bugged and trying to enter crashed your game.
YES, also endless tonics
Buying an entrance into sab for your guild hall would be one of the many many ways they could monetize it more
well 30 days ago there was a red post that said close seriously. So by know im sure it’s really really extra close seriously.
I’m experiencing a weird bug where the sab door is still closed, is anyone else experiencing this?
What your thinking of i think is a dev said it wont be the next patch but it will released on a day to much fanfare. but that was about 4 patchs ago.
I believe the release post explained how training works. Every lvl 80 character should have enough hero points to unlock every single core thing in the training menu
24 days ago, they said we are close(pretend i put the tiny tm here, i dont know how to do that >.>) seriously. So either we have different definitions of close, they had a hickup making the fix and it will take longer now, or they were never close and just said that so people would lay off of them for a while about it.
Well they will be announcing the real ease date at some point. So I guess you will be pre purchasing. Just not yet.
And SAB is broken so I wouldn’t expect that anytime soon. After HoTthey will be working on a lot of those bugs before they can think about SAB again.
I am so tired of people spreading this around. As far as i know (and i follow things about sab pretty closely) there has never been a red post saying this is true. This is a popular theory that people in the sab post have come up with to try to explain why it has taken so long for sab to come back.
I feel like I am at work having to follow up on the progress on this issue every few days.
And that isn’t my idea of fun.Anet will announce it when the issue will be resolved and HoM will be re-enabled…
I think you’re missing the point.
Put simply, if we do not express the fact that this needs to be dealt with, it will simply become a non-issue and Anet will assume no one cares that it is disabled and leave it as is.
Much like the idiom, “The squeaky wheel gets the grease.”Yes except they’ve already stated they are working on it, so in this case it’s an issue of making the grease, and no matter how much a wheel squeaks can’t get it faster until the grease is made >.>
I think your assuming that they are working on this issue as hard as they possibly can, if you don’t assume that then continuing to complain might convince them to put more resources than previously on this project.
The gems approach is the best approach we can push for right now. It’s good for existing players who don’t have a character slot, they can just buy it. It’s good for existing players that have an empty slot already, they effectively get the xpac for $30. It’s good for ANet; they don’t need to deal with the price reducing/refund nightmare. They keep the existing players happy. They keep the new players happy (xpac comes with free core game!).
It’s basically a win-win-win-win solution for everyone.
We should push for this instead of complaining/ranting. The solution is right here.
I wish making forum accounts were free so i could spend all night making new ones to +1 this.
You make it sound like anet are our friends. They are a business and it is not our responsibility to keep them running. They decided to make a game that lives largely off of gem store purchases and if you look at things they are doing fine. there seem to be two main complaints from people. One is simple and that HOT does not have enough content in it to be worth 50 dollars. As far as we know now, you only get 2-3 maps, guild halls, the revenant and elite specializations with HOT. The entire game of guild wars is usually worth about 40 dollars and since they chose that price, this is them saying this is worth more than the entire game. The second point is that new players buying the 50 dollar option get access to all the many many hours of content in guild wars and HOT for that price whereas a veteran only gets the meager offerings (we’ve seen so far) of HOT.
The most reasonable complaint is that a new player gets an extremely large amount of stuff for 50$ whereas a veteran player gets only two-three maps, specializations and guild halls for the same price.
I think 1600 gems which puts the expansion minus the core game at 30 is very fair.
Stop the white knight.
Two people go into same shop to buy a bundle made out of 2 items, lets call the item BOB, Person 1 already have a BOB and person two dont.
Bundle contains BOB and a expansion for BOB.The Problem is when you leave the store, a store clerk come running after you and say to the one: Sorry Sir, but i see that you already have BOB at home and takes your BOB away.
Both payed the same amount, How do you think person 1 feels now ?
This is the main reason people are getting so angry. We hate when other steal from us
Wrong.
One of those two buys something a year ago, the other one goes in the same shop and buys the same thing a year after, he gets it for a lower price and it includes something else. Like all games…. Value changes….
Its cute that you think that the value of something stays the same, year after year. It doesn’t. I wish it was so… That would mean i could get 60k$ for my pos volvo v40 1998…
I disagree, one of the people bought something a year ago and then bought it again the same day as the second person. But because he already owned it they said nope you can not have a second one with this purchase.
Do you think 50$ is a fair price for just the expansion?
Before the price was announced i said that i was part of the problem because i would have bought that expansion no matter the price to keep playing with my guildies. But 50$ and no option to just buy the expansion and none of the other frills? I’m surprised they went so far in that direction to make me a liar because i apparently did have a line and they crossed it.
My greatest fear is that i will move on to another game before SAB comes back and not notice it until many moons later when i take a look back at gw2 ;(
Make sure you’re subscribed to the newsletter and it doesn’t matter, because they will email you when it comes back.
I dont think sab is enough incentive to redownload an entire mmo if i have already moved on.
Then your fear makes no sense. If SAB isn’t enough incentive to return even for a little bit, when why would you fear missing because you’d already left?
I dont understand why you don’t understand.. I like sab and would enjoy playing it. Lets say its a +6 on the fun scale. Redownloading and repatching gw2 for what will probably be a month long thing is like a +8 on the annoyance scale. So what your saying is that if i dont love sab enough to redownload gw2 if it takes so long that ive moved on, then i shouldn’t be sad that i missed it?
So just don’t uninstall the game. Then you can stop playing, but if SAB returns you don’t have to worry about reinstalling it, though, I honestly don’t understand why it’s so annoying to install a game. It just takes a while. It isn’t like you can’t do other things in that time period. Then it’s done and you can play.
I change computers pretty often because i use laptops and just can not seem to stop dropping them, Seeing as how sab looks like late 2016 for release its totally possible that i will have a new laptop by then. Also, fears don’t need to be rational. Why are you always so negative and just not fun to talk to?

I am 90% sure that as long as you load back in before the 1:00 grace period is up, you do not get a loss for swapping characters.
Huh?
We don’t know it’s close to being fixed. They said it’s closed to being fixed.
Ah, silly me. We should of course assume that they are outright lying.
That’s a weird assumption to make, I never said they were lying.
We don’t know it’s close to being fixed. They said it’s closed to being fixed.

I just said that i dont assume they are telling the truth.
Not assuming that someone is telling the truth is not the same as assuming they are lying. A lack of assumption is not equal to an assumption.
While what you say is correct, it’s unfortunately not the case here. It’s one thing to be neutral and to state to not assume anyone’s word is necessarily true. However, when the only time that they do this is when it’s against a certain person’s word, it makes you wonder what their position really is and the intent of their post.
Let’s go back to the day of the announcement of HoT.
Anet made a statement that there would be precursor collections and new legendary weapons. We did not see the new weapons or anything like the mastery system showing that they would exist. All we had at that time was Anet’s word. Let’s say that I then went into any of the threads at that time about precursor collections or new legendaries and made a statement such as “we don’t know that they’ll be in the expansion as all we know is that they said that they would be”. How do you think people would take that? Would you have sided with me?
While I did buy a new account late last year for the rewards, as I did not have the info for my old one, I can wait a little longer for them to put in the fix. When they stated that they’re actively working on it, I believe them as I have no reason not to. When they stated that they are close to a fix being implemented, I believe them as I have no reason not to. They have not given me any notion that they have a tendency to lie which would then cast doubt on any statements that they make.
Arenanet has multiple times in the past said they were going to do something but then eventually said they no longer were able to or that it was going to take a much longer time than initially said. Possibilities are that the fix is almost and will be out soon, in which case my not taking there word for it doesn’t do anything and it instills some more trust in me with them. (not that they would care about my opinion of course) Or they could be really far from a fix because it is really complicated and they want to give the issue more time to get forgotten and know that by saying it’s almost done, people will stop hounding them about it. (every new post made on the forums is currently met with someone giving them some nice links to these old posts and saying dont worry its almost out) There isn’t a time limit on almost, they could now take another 2 months and still not have “lied” All i meant was that they did stand to gain from lieing if it was taking longer than they wanted. So not saying they are lieing, but i don’t believe everything they say just because they say it.
Just gonna pop in to say that i agree with op, this change does not seem good. Yeah it was annoying when my leap skill was shorter because chill/cripple but stopping someone from running away was so much more satisfying.
My greatest fear is that i will move on to another game before SAB comes back and not notice it until many moons later when i take a look back at gw2 ;(

If that were true then they would have removed dungeons from the game long ago.
They didn’t remove dungeons from the game, but they stopped investing money and manpower on them. On not-ls instances.
It’s been quite some time now.
Some food for thought.
What manpower do you expect them to invest into it? They are already done. And even though it sometimes takes an ungodly amount of time, I believe the big dungeon bugs get fixed eventually too.
After thinking about this some more, I think the most simple solution would be to have both MMRs affected by a character swap. That would keep the “penalty” small for the occasional swap but “punish” abuse by having profession specific MMRs converge.
I’m still curious about how the devs handle this.
I can’t think of any problems that could occur from this system.
My greatest fear is that i will move on to another game before SAB comes back and not notice it until many moons later when i take a look back at gw2 ;(
Why did the dev comment on the easy question and ignore the big one? Thinking logically he probably can’t say YES THIS IS A SERIOUS EXPLOIT PLEASE DO NOT DO IT UNTIL WE FIX IT. So i guess that means this is possible and something they didn’t think of. I always wondered if swapping for low mmr opponents was possible but i assumed it was too obvious…
My point was people will always complain and they wouldn’t play SAB anymore (unless you are a hardcore fan) be cause there is no additional content. The kitten begins anew: they moan there is no additional SAB content.
People complaining for new content eventually is true, but that isn’t a reason to not bring it back. And saying they would not play it anymore just because there isn’t any new content? Do you know how long the dungeons have been the same? Do you see in the lfg how many people still do that every day? Do you know how often they update us with new fractals? Do you know how often people still do fractals? That is just a bad argument all around.
We don’t know it’s close to being fixed. They said it’s closed to being fixed.
Ah, silly me. We should of course assume that they are outright lying.
That’s a weird assumption to make, I never said they were lying. I just said that i dont assume they are telling the truth. What incentive do they have to tell the truth? They can say soon and if it takes a year they could just keep saying soon. It will be out when its out and unless they gave us a date i wouldnt assume anything. But i don’t need a date, i dont even have any hom points.
if its going to take this long (we are already months in), why not just reenable the HoM rewards, fix the bug at your leisure and when implemented take away all HoM titles/rewards from everyone and force everyone to revisit the HoM to get them back.
That way, folks that didnt do the work in GW1 wouldnt be able to get these rewards back, and in the meantime folks who did earn the rewards can use the items now and when fixed with the minor inconvience of revisitng EotN.
I’ve seen this argument elsewhere and i agree with it. If they are already designing a tool to mass remove things from accounts, just also make it able to remove pets, mini’s, and skins from the wardrobe and turn HOM back on now for the people that need it. (I’m not one of those people btw)
The better solution, though, is to keep it inaccessible and just figure out how to remove achievements on a case by case basis, rather than having to not only figure out how to remove achievements, but also how to remove skins and minis from the wardrobe, and also how to do it such that it also untransmutes any gear that had been transmuted with the skins that were removed.
If this sounds like it could ever be simpler than not doing all that extra work, you really have no concept at all about how programming works.
But having a tool to remove all that seems like a good thing to have right? The reason this fix is taking so long is because they did not have a tool to remove some things. Why not just give the rightfull HOM people the rewards along with whatever people that got the bug the rewards and also make the tool able to remove those? So in the future if they needed to remove those they would already have a tool for it?
What about multi-classing MMR then?
How does queuing with a profession I suck at and then switching to my main or second affect MMR?
It doesn’t, because each character of yours have two different MMR. One for unranked and other for ranked arena. This method somehow avoids you being matched with players that master their profession. Say you suck with necro: you won’t be match with some one that masters mesmer. Instead you will be matched you someone that doesn’t master mesmer. So, you and your opponents will be at the same level.
Doing that, swapping alts just means you will play with the MMR of that specific alt, and that it’s not affected by playing with other alts.
If I understood correctly how match making works.
Im not sure if you understood the problem we were pointing out. I make a new warrior character. I purposefully lose 10 games with him and those are his only games. Then i always queue with the warrior and it matchs me against badish players because my profession mmr should be really low right? Then before the match starts i swap to my engi who i am very good with. If at the end of the game, my warriors profession specific mmr is affected then it is a good system. But if at the end of the game my engi has his profession mmr affected then the system is bad because i can just keep queueing with my warrior against worse players than me and keep beating them with my engi.
I dont want to sound like an kitten but this wont get fixed for another year or so it has already been 5 months
.
We already know that they are close to getting it fixed. So for all we know it can be fixed in a potential patch today.
Spreading BS that it will not be fixed for another year or so (and then use false information to “confirm” it) is just silly.
We don’t know it’s close to being fixed. They said it’s closed to being fixed.
Oh sab, how far out art though patchs?
Yeah i do not know what everyone is on about, that doesn’t look anything like super adventure box to me. And i would love if that is what it said.

I had this a night or two ago and so did the other guy in my party. We just waited for like…. 20 seconds? and then both of those screens disapeared and we were just back in the queue still.
The main reason is a good one for me, as sometimes i will do a 50 with guildies and pugs and then another guildie will get online and want to do a 50. now all of us guildies could do another one if we wanted!
