Hi Chris, my question is about the major cities. Are there any plans in the works for attracting people there? Since you decided to make LA the main city, we feel the other major cities are being left out: Divinitys Reach, Black Citadel, Rata Sum, The Grove and Hoelbrak. If you were to give each city an unique activity, do you honestly think that will fix the problem of ghost-capitals?

In GW1 there were several poles of main cities, for several reasons, and that worked astounding! Lions arch, Ascalon city (where the new guys, lowlevels gathered) Great Temple of Balthazar, Hall of heroes, Temple of Ages, Domain of Anguish, Eye of the North, Kaineng City, Kamadan (the main commerce city).

Perhaps moving the krytan dungeons to a waypoint in Divinitys reach and the ascalonian to Black Citadel, and so on? Having populated cities is always a strong factor in strenghtning bonds between people, and raising communities. Thank you for your time

We have been discussion this topic for a while. There are lots of things we have brainstormed but are not firmed up on a direction yet. However here are some ideas to wet your appetite or not:

Events and activities related to town clothes Cities as dungeons! Player created events and activities. Non confrontational material gathering for crafting.

These are just a few of the top of head.

Exciting stuff!

That is why there is no plan for new Rarity Tiers of loot but there are plans to enhance or gain items within the existing rarity design whose properties continue on a shallow power curve.

So your Ascended gear will eventually be outdated as they replace it with Ascended gear with higher stats. Also, if anyone thinks the +13% increase in power from Exotic to Ascended is shallow, I have a bridge I would like to sell them.

+13%? Have you actually looked at the increase to your total character stats? It’s roughly 1% with all 3 available items which is shallow. Do not look at the individual item, but its proportional effect to you overall stats.

Once all ascended items are released, if the stat differences are similar to the rings, then it will be a 13% difference if you have a full ascended set. (ascended item w/ blue infusion vs exotic item w/ top quality gem).

Taking into account all item slots, then yes, I see the 13%.

However, we still don’t know how runes and sigils will factor into it, so exotics can currently technically outweigh that 13% increase.

Actually, we do know how runes will factor. They will be included with the Ascended item itself.

Ascended gear works a little bit differently than other gear types. The stats and functionality normally added to gear through upgrade components are actually built into Ascended items.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/

Basically, you are going to have to grind your kitten off via the RNG to get a full set of Ascended gear with the full rune set you want.

This doesn’t fully specify what upgrades they are talking about. With Runes and Sigils, it means there will be so many variables to take into account, that it’d be almost pointless to even release items. How will you account for every rune set people use? How about for every Sigil set? They could just be talking about specifically the jewel upgrades. This may actually be an interesting question to see answered on the AMA.

Great question. Asked: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/13tuac/im_the_studio_design_director_on_guild_wars_2_ama/c778nso

Just got clarification from Chris for his previous quote, “That is why there is no plan for new Rarity Tiers of loot but there are plans to enhance or gain items within the existing rarity design whose properties continue on a shallow power curve.”

Hi Timebomb,

There will certainly be different combinations and potentially new types of stats added to a specific rarity with no overall % power increase.

However Ascended and Legendary will be infuse able.

Infusions will become the vertical progression earn able in PVE and WvW and accessible through a wide variety of different player activities thus catering to lots of different types of players and gained from all across the world of Tyria.

Should we add new player levels to the game then new items within the current rarities with a shallow power increase would be viable, however we would look at doing a new system rather than defaulting to this initially.

Oh thanks very much
whaat seriously? i thought the hacking were top priority at the moment :/
that doesn’t sound too promising

They have done a lot already towards improving account security, lowering the amount of hack victims, and stopping botters. While it’ll be an ongoing battle, they’ve really done a lot more in a much quicker time than most other MMOs I’ve seen. There are already write-ups and staff posts about it. Chris is a design guy (though apparently not for PvP), thus he probably won’t be able to answer (m)any questions about security.

I am not sure what needs clarified. Just look at the Infusions that have + stats to them and this quote:

As we release more new end game content in the future, you’ll see more Infusions and Ascended item types being added to the game. Eventually, you’ll be able to kit yourself out with a full set of Ascended gear and high end Infusions to help give you the edge in end game content.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/linsey-murdock-unveils-new-high-end-ascended-gear/

They appear to be talking about more than just infusion gems or ascended items, but it’s somewhat unclear, thus why I asked for clarification.

Take a look at this answer:

  • We do not intend to deploy another tier/rarity of loot such as Rare>Exotic. However we also do not intend to make promises that can be misinterpreted moving forward.
  • Ascended Gear will be introduced throughout next year, and accessible through many game play activities rather than just on. -Through infusions and existing Tiers there will be the opportunity to increase stats or abilities on a low power curve through multiple types of gameplay in GW2.
  • The opportunity to enhance existing tiers of loot will not be through a regular cadence of monthly updates instead it is more likely to come from expansions or very big drops of content.
  • In retrospect Ascended should have been deployed pre launch and earn able throughout most activities in the game (which is how we are moving forward).

I believe there has been no change to our philosophy regarding end game gear. We have learnt lessons for sure which is one of the main advantages of a live game and no doubt we will learn lessons moving forward. This does not however dilute our commitment to create a pioneering, accessible and fun world for players as we continue to build out GW2. And we very much rely on your and the communities feedback as we execute on these philosophy.

My criticism is mainly with the voice actors of the personal story. They very rarely, if EVER, show ANY EMOTION. Most of the NPCs outside of my personal story show more emotion in their voice than these voice actors! I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to say some of the lines of the story without emotion – I can only assume that the voice actors of the personal story were told by their employers specifically to not show emotion. Why are they all almost always monotone?! It’s odd, it’s upsetting, it’s atrocious and it’s very much so immersion breaking. I believe I could have personally done a better job than many of them with my own voice (and a free audio editing program to alter the pitch and what-not). And I’m no actor/voice actor. That’s how bad it is.

Thoughts on Ascended Gear? [Merged threads]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TimeBomb.3427

ArenaNet separates “gear progression” from “gear grind”. I truly believe that ArenaNet believed that, prior to this Lost Souls event release, Ascended gear was not a grind. Many people obviously disagree. They have hinted at alternative ways to get Ascended that’ll be implemented later on. So they introduce it via fractals and then make it more accessible a bit later on. Not the worst strategy ever, though the moderate lack of transparency behind is definitely a bit frustrating. Given all the complaints and what-not, I imagine that they’ll be speeding up this strategy that was assumedly intended from the get-go.

They do not want threads/posts that are “unconstructive”. There have been many posts that have been allowed even though they were essentially complaining BECAUSE those posts were indeed constructive.

If you voice your opinion, good or bad, in a constructive, mature matter, than you should be alright. Just check to see if your thread idea was already posted by someone else, and if so, then make a post in that thread – having multiple threads on the same subject does indeed make it easier for the staff to go through all of the feedback.
Yes, that does make it harder for us to communicate with each other sometimes, i.e. the 10k+ post thread about ascended gear, but they claim it makes it easier for them to go through the feedback, so we’ll just have to deal with that.

If you find that your post has disappeared or you were infracted in a manner that you think is unjust, contact ArenaNet about it via forums@arena.net. This email doesn’t go to the moderators, it goes to people that I can only assume are in a position higher than the moderators, so you don’t have to worry about your issues going unheard just because a moderator doesn’t appear to like what you have to say.

Aside from that, stop giving them your money; don’t buy gems. If at all possible, when making a constructive post, slip in the fact that you have stopped paying them any money until they fix X problem.

If the problems are too much for you and you don’t want to play – then don’t. Most people here have already got their money’s worth; hundreds of hour of play time. This game is constantly evolving though, so I’d personally suggest you check back at least every month or so to see if there are any recent updates put in place that may address your initial concerns.

The Scepter and the Focus

I played D/F from pre-release stress tests up until recently. I stopped playing it because it was too easy; I got bored. The build revolves around being able to out-survive anything and everything. I like it quite a lot; it works well in PvE and SPvP, though not so well in WvW and dungeons. It gets its defense from active abilities, toughness, and healing, and gets its offense from condition damage.

I tried S/F and just did not like the playstyle. IMO focus synergizes much better with dagger than with scepter. I found S/F to be quite sub-par and underwhelming in all areas.

TimeBomb.3427

Hey Time, that gives me a little more to work with as far as advice goes.

First off Carrion looks great on paper because it has so much damage and also Vit which is nice. But being in the thick of fighting you will be getting pummeled a bit. Vit also happens to be the worst defensive stat for us elementalist. It’s still good, but not as good as toughness/healing If you are trying to be a damage powerhouse start looking at Soldier gear. and Shaman gear to fill out your defenses a little without losing too much damage for your troubles. If you want a more tanky feel consider throwing some cleric’s in there.

With the right mixture of these sets you will lose some damage but gain lots of survivability. Learning to maximize your might combos and using a sigil of battle can keep your damage respectable while you are still quite tanky. Personally I can regularly keep 15+ stacks of might on my D/D getting 20+ in groups and by pushing my boons.

If you are confused on the sets I was talking about up there. Check out the wiki’s Item Nomenclature Page.

Thanks a lot for the advice, Lokki. I’ve been trying to include a good balance of vitality and toughness in my build, but I am aware that armor is more useful to us than health, so I suppose I should be more-so prioritizing toughness rather than vitality.

Thanks for the tips about might. I have been planning to get a superior sigil of battle once I get my exotic weapon (the battle sigils are quite expensive on the TP). I’ll definitely focus more on might stacking rather than getting tons of damage from my base stats.

Why does my Ele seem like its made of glass?

in Elementalist

TimeBomb.3427

I did really well w/ min. 700 healing, min. 2.9-3k armor, and min 14-15k health. Combine that w/ signet of restoration and it makes you really tough to kill. 11-12k is just plain too low for just about anything, though.

How does a D/D ele do dungeons?

in Elementalist

Posted by: TimeBomb.3427

TimeBomb.3427

Thanks for the tips, all.

In regards to my build: the fire is arguably a bit of a waste; I put it in there mainly for the extra power. I prefer 30 water over 30 earth unless I’m using signet of restoration. I find the condition removal from Cleansing Water to be quite useful. In regards to arcane, I usually do just fine with only 10 points in arcane. I’ve been rolling between all four of my attunements since I started playing ele in BWE1; I don’t usually have an issue timing my attunement swapping to comply with the 12-13s attunement cooldown.

I’ll definitely invest in some rare gear once I have my build more set in place, i.e. so I know what type of gear to get. And Lokki, yes, it’s green lv80 gear. Half light armageddon, half carrion feathered armor; sapphire mithril accessories; carrion glyphic and carrion mithril daggers.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TimeBomb.3427

Why don’t I support this, you ask? Because it’s too much to just sell in the cash shop. It takes too much time and energy to get it. Obviously that’s a bias, but it’s one that I believe many, many people will agree with.

Mind you, they’re working on making precursors easier to get from what I have been hearing. But there’s also the issue of, even if the precursors are account bound, the prices in the TP will still be fixed to the amount of gold it costs to get that many gems. That’s too much control over the TP.

Legendaries should be difficult to get. If you really want it, then either spend the time to get it, or convert gems to gold. The price in precursors is going down a bit anyway, and assuming ArenaNet sticks to their word and continues trying to make precursors not as difficult to get as they have been, it’ll continue dropping.

How does a D/D ele do dungeons?

TimeBomb.3427

D/D and D/F elementalist is by far my favorite profession + weapon set in this game.
I consider myself to be at least slightly above average when it comes to PvE and PvP, but find myself having issues doing dungeons as a D/D ele.

It doesn’t help that I’m in green gear and often can not see most of the red circles on the ground. Still, I try my best and do okay depending on the boss and adds. I have quite a bit of difficulty with some bosses in explorable mode, though.

I was wondering if anyone had any general tips/tricks or preferred builds for running a D/D or D/F elementalist in dungeons? This is the build I’m currently running in dungeons. (I do my best to make the PvE items I’m using match the stats in that build, which uses SPvP gear.)
It does decently considering I am a D/D ele in green gear. Still, I’m wondering what I can do to be more effective… aside from switch to staff or scepter, both of which I don’t find all that fun, especially compared to dagger.

Thanks all!

Will the level cap rise / Will our gear become out-dated?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TimeBomb.3427

TimeBomb.3427

A level cap increase brings many design problems. One of the most obvious ones I can think about is legendary items. Legendary items are always supposed to be the best of the best. When ascended weapons are released, legendary weapons will be bumped up to the same stats as ascended weapons. Legendary weapons are, of course, level 80 items. So when the level cap is increased, to keep legendary weapons the best of the best, they have a few solutions, all “meh” in my opinion.

  1. Make the items the best stats for the new level cap and up the level requirement. This means they are unusable until the players level up to the new cap.
  2. Make the items the best stats for the new level cap. Don’t up the level requirement. Level 80s now running around with level 90-statted weapons.
  3. Make legendary items upgradable in some fashion to increase the level requirement and stats. This is arguably the best solution. The user upgrades the weapon after leveling up to the new level cap. Similarly, legendary weapons’ stats could scale to the user’s level post-80.
  4. Make new legendary items for the new level cap and throw an unfriendly finger to players that currently have a legendary item.
  5. All items post-80 have the same stats as level 80 items. /Whistle

Also, I would just be happy if you would allow us to change the colors of the circles and the chat text. That would pretty much solve the issue for me I think.
I posted this in reddit as to the problems I am having…

1) Red circles on the ground for incoming enemy AOE attacks or traps. I can tell they’re there sometimes depending on the color of the terrain.

2) I’m an ele so I have a lot of AOE’s, it’s hard for me to see my green AOE rings. So most of the time while I’m trying to cast an AOE, I’m moving my mouse around the screen like crazy just trying to catch a glimpse of where the circle is at so I can position it correctly.

3) Rarity of items: It’s impossible for me to distinguish between masterwork/rare/exotic. They all look EXACTLY the same to me. Thankfully Anet has most things labeled, but some things aren’t and I can’t tell by color alone.

4) Chat: this one really gets me angry sometimes, specifically party and whisper. The colors for those look exactly the same to me. I thought they were the same for the longest time until someone told me they were different colors. So sometimes when I’m having a “private” chat, I end up announcing it to everyone in the party, which can sometimes get me in trouble especially when I’m playing with my GF.

Without going too off topic, do note that you can press the chat options gear in the top left of the non-transparent chat window and checkmark “Show Channel Tag” to see exactly which channel someone is talking in. For example, a guild message will be preceded with [G], and a whisper message will be preceded with [W]. This is how I handle chat issues.

I think the issue with yellow circles is that it may be significantly easier to see such that even non colour-blind players could enable the colour-blind setting for easier game play. There would have to be some middle ground which is more visible to colour-blind players but not noticeably different to normal players.

As an example of what I’m thinking, there is this colour scheme website which has a range of settings for different types of colour-blindness, that alters the colours in the colour scheme so we can discern the differences.

Having a colour blind option that modifies the colour in red circles similarly would avoid the possibility of a ‘colour-blind option’ that makes game play for non colour-blind people easier.

This was my main point of worry, and the reason that I wrote that aforementioned sentence (which Grey Warden didn’t like) in my OP. While I’d love if the color blind option didn’t make the difficulty easier for non-color blind players, if it’s not possible without keeping color blind players at a disadvantage, then so be it (i.e. the color blind option should still be implemented).

Someone on reddit posted this useful message:

Actually I have been hammering on this since beta, since it’s such a simple change. I even created a palette that would give high visibility to all forms of colourblindness.

The game should support colour-blind people

  • PvP very challenging for colourblind people
  • especially as the key elements you need to know are red and blue
  • colourblind men represent up to ~%4 of the male population
  • More (%7) if you count all forms of colour blindneess
  • Enable a switch to make your game colour-blind friendly.

This is a colour-blind palette you can swap to:

  • Red -> Vermillion #D55E00; RVB 213,94,0
  • Blue -> Sky Blue #56B4E9; RVB 86,180,233
  • Green -> Yellow #E69F00; RVB 240,228,66

These colours are unambiguous to non-colourblinds and colour-blinds (whether they’re protanopes, deuteranopes, or tritanopes) and even in the worst case will still work.

You can further reinforce this by adding symbols to any colour-essential UI element

  • If you have have difficulty changing player outfit colour, add a symbol that appears above the character or a mouseover tooltip with name of colour
  • Also apply this to circle effects! Red-green colourblinds confirm they cannot see the circle on many landscapes. A pulse effect or texture effect can also enhance visibility for colourblinds. See how the dota-clones implement colourblind circle graphics.

Thanks for your support all. While bright yellow would help a lot of people, I think that offering multiple colors, or better yet, as someone suggested, inverting the ground color, would be a better choice and work for more people.

My goal here isn’t to make it easier for everyone to see the red circles as to lower the necessary skill level, my goal is to allow color blind gamers such as myself to be on par with non-color blind gamers.

Your post was reasonable until that statement.
The option of changing the circle colors is reasonable.
Lowering the skill level of the game for a vast majority of people just to compensate for a group that make up less than 1% of the gamers is not reasonable.

I think you misunderstood my post. I said specifically that I did not want to lower the skill level. I don’t know how well non-color blind gamers can see the red circles, so I included the above sentence just to make it clear that while making the red circles more vibrant may or may not make them easier to see for everyone, the main goal here is to allow color blind gamers to be on par with non-color blind gamers. Make sense?

Hi. I’d like to have a discussion in regards to the issue of red circles, the ones made on the ground by enemies right before an AoE hits, and the issues that I, and surely others, have due to being color blind.

If I recall correctly, I’m red/green color blind. I haven’t done a ton of dungeons, though usually when I do them, I played ranged. As a ranged player, I often have less enemy’s closely surrounding me, which allowed me to more easily see/notice the red circles on the ground. When I play melee anything, it often becomes quite a bit more difficult for me to see/notice the red circles.
Also note that it’s slightly easier for me to see the red circles on the ground if the ground is light, and it is very difficult for me to see the red circles on the ground if the ground is dark.

I consider myself a good player overall. I am quite competent when it comes to any kind of combat in GW2. I’ve done well in general PvE of course, as well as SPvP and some dungeons. Often the harder it is for me to see the red circles on the ground (and the more necessary it is to see them, i.e. with certain bosses), the worse I do.

I opened this thread for two reasons. To see if any other color blind gamers out there are ever having similar issues, and to discuss what possible solutions we can apply to this problem.

My goal here isn’t to make it easier for everyone to see the red circles as to lower the necessary skill level, my goal is to allow color blind gamers such as myself to be on par with non-color blind gamers.
Offering alternative colors could be a solution, or perhaps just a gray color. Making the circles brighter would probably help as well.

I think of “PvP”-related changes as being specific to your PvP character, which is for structured PvP – not PvE or WvW.

Oh, and for the record, rare -> exotic armor is about a 13% increase in stats, no gem included. Thus an ascended ring w/ gem and w/ blue infusion gem has about the same percentage stat increase over an exotic ring as an exotic armor piece w/o gem has over a rare armor piece.

It’s way beyond any slight bump. “if that’s a blue then even the best will only add 20 condition damage”

how wrong could you be. Go look. This is in game now.

You can’t get a % increase based on this ring’s stats because there is no other exotic ring that has all the same stat setup as this one. Let’s assume there was one, though. What stats would the exotic have? We can use some math to approximate this.

The ascended ring’s main stats are 31 points each, right? Six times. Well, the ascended ring w/ three stats has 72+51+51 points. Let’s average out the stats, 72, 51 and 51, and use that as a “weight” when we apply some math to exotic rings. That’s 58. 31 is 47% weaker than 58.

Now let’s look at an exotic ring and apply the same math. 67+48+48. As with the ascended ring, we’ll average these numbers out to get the “weight”. That’s about 53. 47% of 53 is about 28.

The difference? (28 * 6) vs (31 * 6). Thus this ascended ring you’re complaining about is roughly about 10.7% stronger than a potential exotic equivalent. Not including the gem or infusion gem, though. This number is very similar to my previous approximation (using real items) of 11%. Take a look at my previous posts for more info.

Timebomb thats just with a blue infusion? Scary to think what a higher rank one would do. Would we be hitting around the 15 % mark with an exotic or ascendent infusion you think?

Yup. Blue infusion adds five(5) stat points. 218 * 0.023 = 5. In other words, 2.3% of an exotic ring is 5 more stat points. The increase is all but negligible IMO. I have no idea what the rarer infusion gems would have.

To estimate that, the best we can do is compare a rare lv80 gem to an exotic lv80 gem.
Exotic http://www.gw2db.com/items/20920-exquisite-chrysocola-jewel-s
Rare http://www.gw2db.com/items/26409-chrysocola-orb-s

The rare has 20+14+14 stats. The exotic has 25+15+15 stats. This is just under a 15% increase.
I think ascended items will have a larger difference than this. 5 * 1.15 (5 + 15%) is just under 6. I wouldn’t be all that surprised if exotic infusion gems added 20-30 stats, though anymore than that would be a bit overboard. After 40 stats from an infusion gem, I may start to QQ, heh.

Let’s assume that an exotic infusion gem gives 40 more stat points. That’d be more stats than I’d assume any gem would give, but that would make an ascended ring 29.5% more powerful than an exotic ring.

This is an exotic power(main) + toughness(secondary) + vitality(secondary) ring: http://www.gw2db.com/items/47737-invaders-ring

This is the same ring, but ascended: http://www.gw2db.com/items/71369-lost-seal-of-usoku

Not including the gem stats (which are already included in ascended gear), we can apply simple math to figure out that exotic → ascended ring is a ~7% stat increase. 67 + 48 + 48 vs 72 + 51 + 51.

While I can’t find an exquisite (exotic) jewel that’s power(main) + toughness(secondary) + vitality(secondary), the gem stats are 25 + 15 + 15, as seen in gems such as http://www.gw2db.com/items/20922-exquisite-emerald-jewel-s.

The already-included gem in the ascended ring is 32 + 18 + 18. Using similar math to as we already applied, we can figure out that the ascended gem is about 24% more powerful than the exotic gem.

So now we combine the two. 67 + 48 + 48 + 25 + 15 + 15 vs 72 + 51 + 51 + 32 + 18 + 18. Simple math one more time, and we now know that, not including the infusion gem, ascended rings have 11% more stats than exotic rings. The only infusion gems that appear to be released have 5 of one stat, not including agony resistance. If we add this into the equation, ascended rings WITH a blue infusion gem have 13.3% more stats than exotic rings.

Here are all the infusion gem item codes I could find:
Edit: The codes appeared to be a little bugged and aren’t showing the entirety of the text for some reason. Go to http://pastebin.mozilla.org/1944010 to see a list of all the item codes. All of them end in “==]”.

There were no other items with a similar ID except for a couple completely unrelated council commendation items that appears to be storyline related.

For those too lazy to see what stats they are (I know I’m too lazy to record it), they are, for the most part, very basic +5 X stat items. There are a couple that are slightly different, i.e. +1% boon duration, +2% agony duration reduction. The gems are all 2 stat only, with the second stat always being +5 agony resistance. There are also a couple items in perfect English that are only +5 agony resistance – no secondary stats.

For anyone interested in looking more into possible item codes, just convert the following hex code to base64:
02 00 01 91 00 30 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
The “01” is the number I modified (from 00 to 12 or so) to get all the above item codes. When changing/removing any of the other numbers, it either didn’t do anything, broke the code, or completely changed what the item was.
Once you have the base64, just add “[&” before it and “]” after it and you have your item code you can paste ingame.

Edit 2: Argh, apparently gw2db beat me to the punch. http://www.gw2db.com/search?search=Infusion#t1:items

Thoughts on Ascended Gear? [Merged threads]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TimeBomb.3427

I have two major concerns. Agony and the possibility of a harsh gear treadmill.
I agree that another gear quality should have been added, as so many people got exotics pretty quickly.

What worries me is if they add more qualities of gear on top of Ascended. I think one more between exotic and legendary is a good idea – but any more than that and we’re going to start noticing the oh so hated gear treadmill.

Next is agony. This is really worrisome. Difficulty and challenges are good. But requiring gear to overcome a challenge? In my opinion and based on what I’ve read and heard from other players, this is the exact opposite of what most anyone wants. Being able to only add difficulty via stats is somewhat worrisome, though not the worst thing ever. But adding a new condition just to make dungeons virtually impossible for people without a specific best-in-slot or near best-in-slot gear? That’s a really, really bad idea. That’s exactly what everyone thought ArenaNet was going to stray away from.

Overall, the gear progression that we are getting was needed IMO – one more layer on top of exotic. I’m extremely worried that they’ll add more layers though, and that’s when it’ll become unnecessary and a painful gear treadmill IMO. Agony is also a huge worry; I really wish they could find a way to not include something like agony and instead actually make it more challenging, i.e. require more skill.

Losing track of cursor + terrible tab targeting

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hmm, I’ve never had issues with losing the cursor. I run in windowed fullscreen @ 1920×1080p, and my mouse is set at 1500 DPI. Though I often hold down right click while in combat, as to have the camera follow my character, so I often don’t see the cursor much when in combat.

In regards to tab targeting – meh, it’s not that great, but I usually don’t notice it. I sometimes have to click on the mob I want to target due to the poor quality of tab targeting, but usually I don’t have to tab target and facing them w/ auto targeting will target that mob. Usually.

I wish it better prioritized mobs. It shouldn’t be targeted mobs that are off screen and it should not be targeting friendly mobs if there are currently mobs aggroing me, i.e. red-named. Mobs with lower HP and/or are more of a threat to me should be prioritized. Mobs that are closer to me should be prioritized.

On a similar but slightly different note, Shift+Tab and similar Shift+X hotkeys makes me dodge since shift is my dodge key – this is an annoying bug that’s been in there since BWE’s and was fixed for abilities, i.e. 1-0, but not much else. I suppose I should rebind shift+tab…
