I ’ve had people mock me, call me names and hurt my feelings, all because I used my kick kitten legendary axe in a dungeon run, instead of the only socially acceptable way to play this game – full out zerker!

So if anet is paying attention, they might want to take into consideration that people may be leaving this game for one that they can “Play the way they want”

I still cry myself to sleep every night since that day, Do you have any idea how hard it was to get that kitten Axe? and I’m not allowed to use it…

Hey, don’t let them bring you down. You go out there and swing your axe! Gimli would be proud!
Seriously tho, they might be jealus?

You don’t need tanking or healing here, you just follow the train. If you get killed you get ressed

Dungeons is another story, all dmg, dodge, etc.
I do miss the rinity alot, cause healing was my favorite thing too. A-net seems to have removed the holy trinity, but made a new one, called the holy berserker mode.

Dmg, dmg, dmg :/. So they have one part of the holy trinity, they have 1/3 of it. Now they need to put in the rest!

Straits of devastation!

I mean up to this point the game has been great, i have loved every aspect of it.
Obviously i do miss some things, but i leave that for another thread.

When i came to this zone everything has changed. Nope, it’s not that it gets harder, it’s the fact that aggro range seem to be insain. You can’t move without aggroing and/Or taking dmg from mobs, which means you are pretty much WALKING through the zone.

Is this what i will have to face going forward? The last three zones are they like this one (I guess so).. I sure hope there are other level 80 zones cause this is just horrible :/

Anyone else that really dislikes the direction for this map, and the fact it’s packed with so much mobs everywhere that you just can’t move around. I love that it’s dark and gritty-ish. But everything else fell short xD.

Ok I'm L80 ... Now What?

The point is to have fun.

*PvP You can start it at lvl 1 with best Stats unlocked skills/trait points, this way a no-lifer can’t come in and beat everyone just because he is a no-lifer, everyone has a chance.
- I hope to god they never take this away, skill to win not gear to win.

When i think about it i played several different games, long ago, and it was a blast, and you played for fun, you didn’t get anything in the end you just had fun. Today everyone needs something in the end of the tunnel in order to do something, and they need it to have fun aswell, i will never understand that. What happened?

The things you can do in end game is, crafting, jumping puzzles, mini-games, dynamic events, dungeons, exploration. And i’m sure it has more stuff for other people, but that’s what i do.

Aren’t you thankful that you don’t have to play this game like it’s a second job? Even tho getting some “cooler” looking gear takes some time, it doesn’t rob you and it doesn’t make you do it in order for you to do other dungeons, it’s just for the looks.

I mean if nothing in the game offers you fun, the game is not for you.
If a game needs progression in order to be fun, the game isn’t fun in the first place.

To each their own, but you have loads and loads of titles that offer you exactly what you may want. To sum up other titles it’s, you grind to grind some more.

You grind to get to end-game, than you grind end-game so you are set for other updates, when a new update arrives you grind to get to end-game, and you grind end-game again so you are set for the next update. Some titles are free, some are not. I would love to charge everyone for this, over and over again. It’s sad that people are that weak xD

And to know that nobody cares what you do, what you wear or what you have in games, why waste so much time on something nobody cares about? I remember doing this when i was young, thank god i’m more secure and happy today, so much time i wasted on absolutely nothing.

But… to each their own, just be careful!

What made me stop playing

Just a few tips on mmorpgs..

*Ther are no Basic features
*Numbers doesn’t equal best (Justin beiber and Mcdonalds.. please)
*There are no clones of WoW (If it did exist Blizzard would have sued and Won because it is their IP)
*There is not just one way to go for mmorpgs

If you need progression in a game in order for it to be fun, the game is not fun in the first place. People that play games as a job need to re-think. They need to know that nobody cares what they do in-game, nobody, not even themselves.

Gw2 is more casual even tho the game itself is harder to play, it’s a much steeper learning curve and i like that, even tho they really need to fix tooltip on so many things, like attributes?!

Main point is, if you don’t like it and feel like you need progression, etc etc the game isn’t for you, people just wanna change so much to fit their needs, stop trying to change games your way just enjoy them or find another game, it’s easy.

I’m not talking about not giving suggestions, i’m mainly talking about people that wanna change the core element of games so often it’s funny, they never learn to find other games to fill their needs.

See what you are doing OP it’s fairly obvious.

If gw1 worked, gw2 will work aswell. No worries, i usually don’t care what other people say, i’m afterall strong not weak Cough.

It’s very rare that a game dies, look around you so many games that have been “dead” since release and yet are still here. Why bother to speculate, you have no idea what will happen next week let alone a few years from now. But gw1 has been with us for 7 years, and gw2 with its hype and amazing gameplay/PvP it will be with us for atleast 10 years, why not you know.. just go with it.

Speculate all you want, but if gw1 managed gw2 will manage… Since most people like this game i see nothing to be worried about.

That is where you are so totally wrong. Most people don’t like this game. Most people actually find this game boring and have left. Hence the title of the thread, Welcome to the Minority.

Most people do like the game, i see nothing but good things if you don’t focus on bugs/tech issues.

I started solo, 2 days after release 1 friend bought it, another 3 days 2 friends bought it.
Today i have over 10 friends playing.

To me that is the majority, all i can do is go with the facts i have, so 10 out of 10 is playing which means the majority on my part loves it. The guild i am in had around 60 prime time, today it’s around 50-60. People don’t play as much, but they log on a few days a week (Friends list).

All i hear/read on the internet is that alot of people love it, especially the PvP.
Well well.. Atleast we love it, and people on the servers we fight in WvsW seem to like it aswell, it’s still packed with people (queue time needs fixing :P) And i see nothing out of the ordinary…

Servers seem to be Full/Heavy.

Welcome to the minority.

From what i can tell is that the majority of players loves this game, and there have been so many failures in the last years when it comes to games. Atleast for me and my friends.

I would just like to say thank you Arenanet for this awsome game, finally a game i can play for months and years to come. From the people i know that i sually play with all of them is really loving it so far, and that is rare, and no one has left or has any plan to leave, that’s not what happened in other games these past months/years.

From earlier released games by other developers, you could see a trend where Guild’s went from very active to dead in matter of weeks, and friends list shrinking just more and more.

This is the first game (so far) where i see the exact opposite, they don’t play as much but people still log on and play most days out of the week, which is great news, that includes my friends and myself.

Bugs aside this is one great game, and i have yet to find one friend that doesn’t agree, and we can’t wait for future expansions! So Thank you Anet for this Epic game!

Can we know how healthy the servers are?

From my friends list and guildies and what not, most gamers have calmed down (no kiddin’?!) and log in now and then a few hours everyday, i have around 10-20 on my friends list i see around 80% logging in to play now and then… And the guild i am in has a really healthy pop around 70+ prime time.

Seems like we have more now than before… I guess Word spreads…
And all this during MoP, i thought it would slow down alot more but it didn’t.

Google how many copies sold and just take a wild guess.

Why is there not a PvP Server?

Real PvP is when both know what is about to go down.

If i fight someone irl i dont charge someone from behind with full force, i’m not a bi*ch and i’m not weak.

Be a man you girls, the only real PvP is when both knows what is about to happen.

Play for fun or progression?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tirien.1326

Tirien.1326

It seems as tho people need progression in order to play.
God forbid that you play for fun.

If a game needs progression in order to be fun, the game isn’t fun to begin with.
So if you need progression you are not having fun.

I will never understand this progression that people wants, because nobody, NOBODY cares what you do in games, so why aim for something that everybody else will get eventually? Why do you need progression, is it because you wanna feel like.. Special when you achieved that something that nobody cares about?

Why not just you know.. play for fun?
Or am i out of line here?

If you play for progression, it doesn’t matter how sad and lonely that sounds, why do YOU do it? Why waste time.. on wasting more time, to waste even more time.

Play for fun, or don’t play at all. I’m really trying to help you!

The Sims Franchise rules them all.
But Facebook games such as Farmville kills all competition.

Don’t care about if it’s free or not, it still had 80 million players world wide. So how can WoW or Gw2 top that? No idea.

Rewards as incentive is a community issue, not developer

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tirien.1326

Tirien.1326

There is no such thing as a “community issue”. As a developer, it is your job to satisfy your customers. If your customers aren’t satisfied, you can cry all you want and tell them, “But you’re doing it wrong!” It won’t change the reality that you’ve failed to satisfy your customers.

I can’t stand when people say, “The game is perfect! The players are all wrong!” That’s just an ignorant and naive statement.

While you want to satisfy your customers, what you should not do is cave to them. “We want hardcore raids! We want mounts! We want a gear treadmill!” You instead design a solution that will satisfy what it is they enjoy about these things they think they want, without necessarily giving them explicitly what they say they want.

What someone says they want and what they actually want are often two very different things. A person might say, “I enjoy a gear grind.” What they actually enjoy is the sense of progression found in gear grinds that a simple leveling system doesn’t quite offer. It is quite possible to create this exact sense of progression without actually adding a gear grind.

EDIT: I intentionally chose to omit my opinion on whether or not ANet has succeeded or failed in this area.

Why linger on? I mean if people really don’t like it, why linger on?
If i didn’t like it, i would move on.

If people that need to grind for pixels, and need to sit 24/7 in a game in order for it to be fun, they should leave. Because nobody cares what you do in games, it’s not about progression it’s about fun first and foremost.

People can make anything a grind. It just matters how you play.
And if people would just understand that nobody cares what you do, or what you wear in game, they maybe would stop playing games like they do. In the end when they have played for hundreds of hours and got what they wanted, they find out that nobody cares, it must be painful xD

. . .
Personally allowing easy(ish) access to full exotics to most players is a perfect system. . .

Hmmm…I grew-up with the learning that a socialist system is far less than a perfect system.

But that’s me.

I live in sweden, it works wonder over here. We got rich people, we got middle class people, and i have no idea but the poor people here still has money to own a really nice apartment, a car, and food, etc etc.

Unless those poor people use drugs etc.

The complete opposite of our economy is USA, and look what’s happening there. And then look at Canada (It’s close to our economy).

Just because someone is rich, doesn’t mean they should have 100 houses, 1000 cars, etc etc. That’s insain.

If a game needs progression in order to be fun the game isn’t fun in the first place.

I think we got two sets of gamers, the secure gamer (Casual) and the insecure gamer (Gear hunting/Achivement nut/World first/Etc).

The casual gamer is a strong gamer, he plays the game the way it is ment. No grind for him/her since they do 1 dungeon each day or maybe even 2, mostly for the fun of it. To enjoy guildies/Family/friends and the “reward” in game is just a +.

The insecure gamer needs some form of reckognition for doing what they do, but in the end nobody cares what you do or what you wear in games, nobody. I know it must feel bad when you have grinded and played for 200-400-600 hours just to show people something, and to know that people really don’t care about it.

I think some people need some form of accomplishment from gaming, but what to do when they find out that nobody cares about what they do? I would love to get a psychologist on this.

It’s grindy inly if you make it so. It’s not suppose to take a day.
It’s suppose to be fun, progression comes in last before fun.

If you play a game for progression you need to find a new genre, or quit gaming completely, because the progression in games is nothing, and nobody cares about it. So why bother?

I got some weird bug it shows that i have repeated myself over and over and over again on this thread. Anyways just read the important part, which is “Event announcement should reach across the entire map you are in that way it would be more easy and more fun for everybody” To sum it up.

It would be so sweet if you could see Dynamic events from across the map, no?
It seems as tho i am the only one that Links dynamic events whenever they do appear.

But.. Nobody else is doing it? Please Arenanet make it so you could see a Dynamic event from across the map, so i can teleport to a close location and have some fun.
