People that say the population is shrinking, where is the proof then?
Didn’t they just say Active players 3,1 million?
If you can show hard proof that this is infact a lie, and that the game is dead, then go out and find some. If this game feels more alive, more active and has players on all zones, how could it be dying or on the brink on death?
I play WoW aswell, and i swear to God those 5,3 million subscribers where da hell are they? Every single zone i go to is more or less dead, i see no onem, even stormwind is a ghost town, does this mean that the game has less than 5,5 million subs or whatever it is right now? No, just because i don’t see them doesn’t make them not-real.
So the numbers and the fact that it seems HoT did very well, i would say Gw2 is here to stay atleast 3 more years, which is GREAT!
If they add too much, that means we might see less and less people in cities and out in the world in general. Now we have a healthy and sound population across the bord on all zones and cities.
I rather see people out in the world than in guild halls… And when time comes the majority will agree with me. (If anet ever fills guild halls with essential things so you never have to leave)
But seeing as how a-net thinks about open world, i doubt it, hopefully it will be what it was ment to be, just something cool to have with your guild, not something the game is about.
Take WoW as an example, a game that almost has no one playing low/mid/high level zones, i rarely see anyone, now with garrisons, lol, it’s a wasteland. I would HATE if that happened to Gw2, ever.

What people need to realise is, if they make the game more casual than it already is, with everything in mind. There will be less things to do for everybody.
If everybody can do or craft everything with minimal time spent, there will be less things to do in the end for EVERYONE. The reason mmorpg’s have some things that take more time, is so people will have some things to do in the end.
How long did it take for most people to do everything gw2 had to offer when it was released? Not long, not even a month. That is bad, but it should never be like in WoW where every little thing take ages, i mean it, every little thing takes forever in WoW, and that is not the answer either.
You let everyone play all the game has to offer, but let some minor things take more time, and those minor things atleast in gw2 is gear (It is not a gear treadmil like in WoW thank god) and some things are actually truly rare in this game (Also thank god).
I’m sorry but i’m a casual too, and i disagree because you have to look at the big picture, you can still play the game even without ascended, legendaries etc. The answer i have to you is to NOT make these things take less time, maybe just introduce other means to get them that should take equal time/equal gold spent etc.
If the raid requires Ascended gear, that’s great. They should stick to that. If anything, maybe they should introduce other means to get ascended… what means is up to A-net, but they should never make it any easier/less time consuming/money consuming.
So to sum up, no.

I just came from WoW after playing it for around 1 month, i usually play it 1-2 months every other year, and every time after trying to complete as much AP as i can and try as much different things as i can, i always come to the realisation that.. “Why… Why am i doing this? Do i get Achievements in real life by doing them here, no, do i get anything from it, no, is it worth all that hundreds upon hundreds of hours to complete, no”
As much as i love my warlock and my Spriest, i just can’t do it. If some parts of the game is grindy that’s fine, some parts should be, but everything? I mean EVERYTHING? xD
You see there are grinds in this game aswell, and i still think that it is necessary, but in WoW you have no idea how much of a grind EVERY LITTLE PART OF IT IS…
Not just gearing up (Which i agree should take time, not like in Gw2) Building up your character should take time.
But every little part of WoW is a huge grind, every little small thing is a grind….
That Gw2 has some grindy parts is okay, same goes for WoW, but it shouldn’t end up taking ALL your time for doing anything, if a game is that grindy, it lacks on several other aspects.
So for me, legendary should stay legendary, and that SHOULD be a grindy part of the game… If i one day get one, most ppl would have one, that takes away the legendary status to a common one. I wouldn’t want that xD

If someone starts talking smack about Race/sexual orientation/religious beliefs/ etc, you can report. If someone is RUDE i doubt there’s anything you can do. I know the feeling, when someone rude starts without repercussions, it’s annoying, and you wanna smack them down, but you can’t. Just block and move on.
Not tried this new map yet. But if it’s anything close or atleast closer to WAR where tactics were needed to win, instead of Blob vs blob i’m all in, even if it means making me run even more…..
Right now WvW is fun, but it’s missing something really big, and that for me is tactics and good leadership (granted we have some good coms out there) but i’m talking about using tactics to try and win, tagging keeps to lure our enemy, splitting our force to try n fool them, etc etc etc.
Hopefully defending a keep will be available, maybe even using oil without insta dying
There are alot of things they need to fix in WvW to make it more entertaining to me atleast, but this sounds like a big step in the right direction.
A question, this new map, if the castles/towers/etc looks different like higher walls, will they put that in the old maps aswell or will it just be this one map?
Isn’t that what Guild Wars 2 is all about? Doing plenty of different things and when you finally reach the end of that line, you get nothing special at all, when i say nothing i really mean NOTHING.
I guess the feeling of “Wow! i finally did it! And ooohhh look at that shiny thing” This just doesn’t happen at all in Guild Wars 2, you should feel so mediocre at all times. No matter what you do…
It’s sad, and i hope they will FIX it, cause dude, world completion even tho easy it’s still time consuming should grant you some special snowflake feeling, same goes for jumping puzzles etc etc etc.

Actually, you are not beta testing at all. In order to beta test you have to play the new class and or everything else that comes with HoT, which you do not.

I’m sure i missed something, but that is what i do atleast..
I will always miss a healer, that’s what i always play, and the games that i think got them right was Archmage in WAR och Priest in WoW. But archmage was way more fun playing as a healer. While Priest (shadow) was more fun DPS wise and pretty much everything else.
Right now it’s only and all about DPS, if you don’t dps and focus on something else like support you are doing it wrong. DPS outshines anything and everything else.
Maybe there are ways to go support for something, havent seen the need for it yet tho.
Most of my tips is from WO (Warhammer online) the game that got RvR right in everyway. I complained back then, but now i finally see how good it really was.
- Add meaning to claiming keeps & towers(And don’t dare say “Oh banners!”
- Defending a keep or tower is hard when you can’t even use oil, you die pretty much instantly (Add height to all towers so most classes have a hard time reaching those at Oil (People will need to focus oil first for once instead of only focusing gate)
- Put in a common real GOAL for WvW, as of right now, i have a hard time seeing that specific goal.
- Add more upgrade options for for all keeps and towers.
- Fix so you can see regions (name of the different locations in WvW) on the mini map
- Artillery pieces like catas as example should do more dmg the further away it is (So placing them or the other artillery pieces right next to a wall would be useless)
Imagine locking zones in order to open up a specific new zone with castles to try and take over, i mean, that would add impact in WvW as a whole, imagine that specific goal getting achieved by a server. Imagine that everyone knew what to focus on when entering WvW without any question. Taking over the last castle and win over X server.

I’m getting really sick of this. Is my Volvo v40 from 01 worth the same amount of money today 2015? I hope so, but it isn’t.
So the best thing you and everybody who somehow feels like the value of something always stays the same, should wait until the very last expansion of Gw2 and come back then, just a tip.
Even so, there’s more announcements to be made, and the “Guild wars 2 is getting raids” is not enough information to satisfy me the slightest, i wanna hear EVERYTHING about it this weekend (Well maybe not everything, but atleast a good chunk of it)
This weekend is not spoiled, infact, i’m more hyped to see what more they will announce, and how they will manage raids, this is great news, even for me as a casual player that only plays WvW.
Anything they add to the game is a + for me right now, all those big guilds out there must be really kitten happy right now

Meh, NC Soft is the devil. If they shut down a game they don’t let anyone else buy it so the fans can have a chance to keep playing, they just put it away for good. Never liked that company, and having it associated with GW2 is not really doing anyone who likes this game any favors I think.
You are right, Ncsoft isn’t doing anyone any favors, except Arenanet and the possbility of the Guild Wars franchise, and gw turned out great, gw2 turned out great.
I would guess Arenanet has free hands, especially now with how well this game turned out. Well well
Congrats! After HoT i hope it will spike even more, it all depends on what they will offer us in HoT, hopefully they have a plan to not letting go of all previous zones in Gw2, i’m sure they have a plan on how to make us want to go there…

… You think… And that’s fine, however saying that GW2 is on the throne is not entirely right. I think L1 still beats out any other of NCsofts products in the Q1-4, Not to mention WoW. Probably others, not that I dislike GW2 I think it is a great game, however is it number one in sales etc? naw. Personally I still think the original GW had more replay value, but that’s a whole other discussion. At some point Anet stated that this is the game they want to keep working on going forward, I think they even had amount of years 10 or 12 or something. So unless tech changes in the game industry revolutionizes overnight, I don’t think we’ll see GW3 anytime soon.
As far as other games go, Black Desert seems like a fair contender as the next nr1 game. We’ll just have to wait and see
Desert online looks good. I just don’t see it happening, there are many factors you have to think about in mmorpg’s. There are so many developers doing it wrong.
SWTOR as an example, imagine BioWare saying that it was a RPG game with mmo elements (of sorts) or if they indeed had the mmo feeling in it, instead of this narrow linear path, with small zones and small worlds having 3-4 big worlds sandbox style (afterall, it’s star wars) but keeping the traditional mmorpg elements in it. It would have become a hit, but they didn’t, they choose the story.
I see desert online as something cool for awhile, but a mmorpg that has that “real” effect on it i just can’t see it lasting long, i just don’t.

I don’t like the idea. Warhammer had something similar for Guild members. Which made the city feel empty and dead, cause you had everything you wanted in these instances.
No, they should do more open world stuff, and leave instances behind, except for dungeon/raids (Yeah i don’t like them, i don’t do them, but i see why mmorpg’s should have them, cause it’s fun for alot of people, and raids for bigger guilds to overcome is great news for them and us in the long run)

So a few days ago i got some really good help with my mesmer, i really like the class and it’s leaps and bounds more fun than my necro or warrior.
But i always felt that the damage just isn’t there, whenever i meet someone i survive okay-ish (Unless a thief gets me in 1-2 seconds.. yeah that does happen but rarely)
What i’m going for is the shatter build, and there are some questions as to why my damage isn’t in par with what it should be (according to many videos, posts, helpful tips)
Is it my rotation? Is it my gear? Runes? Sigil? etc etc.
First thing first. My rotation.
1. mirror blade
2. double tap
3. – So now i have 2 illusions and i use diversion (Cause i wanna stack vuln?)
4. phantasmal berserker & decoy (So they are targeting me so decoy comes in handy at this stage)
5. double tap
6. Mind wrack
But… I do almost no dmg, now i don’t have ascended or a legendary, all exotics except amulet/rings/backpack that are rare. Focusing on berserker (Power, fer, pre) with runes of the traveler and sigils of air + fire on my GS.

Indeed i have gotten my damage up since i got help. But i feel it just isn’t there, so it has to be how i play it, and i agree i’m not good, but i wanna learn!

There was a point to it in that game, i wish anet would grant us a point in WvW too..
Some form of siege event, on a big fort. I mean that way people would actually give a kitten , right now you take over forts/towers/etc to lose it to claim it again to lose it to claim it.. for what?

No, the people that ONLY play WvW is minuscule. People can MOSTLY play WvW (I do), but people that ONLY play WvW is a very small group (more or less non-existent).
The new map is massive. They are also adding new siege and revamping several of the WvW mechanics.
But fact remains that the largest part of the player based does play PvE, so it makes sense for them to spend most resources on PvE.
Well do you have to play WvW only for it to get some new things?
Same goes for everything, world bosses, dungeons, pvp, pve in general.
Does this mean that if you don’t only play one thing that thing wont get new updates?
Which means HoT is not coming, cause we don’t need it, cause we play all the game modes this game offers..

In other mmorpg’s i can play healer, dps and tank. I pick a class i want to play and play it. So there’s 3 options within the holy trinity, right? And within those classes are several other ways to play, so you can choose how you play it, right? Even choosing mdps or rdps is a different dps class in itself.
In guild wars 2 you have, from what i can tell, dps classes, and you can choose how to play those dps classes, so what you have left are fewer choices by removing the holy trinity, right?
It sounds like arenanet took away tht so we could play the classes we… play? I mean if i pick a healer i picked the healer so i could play the healer, haha yeah it’s kinda funny isnt it? If i pick a healer i don’t expect it to do more dmg than a dps class, right? I picked it so i could play a healer.
Can anyone please, try to explain why they went this way? I’m trying to figure it out, cause from what i can tell they wanted more… diversity, but removing tht removes even more diversity, as you can clearly see in gw2, i have 4 classes, all of which are dps focused (Power/Fer/pre).
I just want someone to try to explain it for me, why removing tht is a good idea? Since when you pick a class, like tank or healer or dps, you have already made up your mind about what you want to play, right? If i pick a tank i can’t expect it to heal that much, can i?

The goal in Wvw is that there is no goal? You run and capture objects that you lose shortly after to recapture it again to lose it again and recapture it again, to lose it again. But why? Why defend it? Why capture it?
In warhammer online there was a goal, you had to DEFEND objectives to lock the zone, and when you lock the zone you continue doing the same thing until the whole line of zones are captured, until you finally get a chance to fight in the capitol. You see that was the goal, and that was a fun goal. Sometimes you failed at it, sometimes you won.
But that didn’t matter much. Having a goal for something in mmorpg’s is important.
Imagine Anet takes away Acheivements, story, loot, ascended & legendaries, etc etc and just telling you “Having fun is the main goal”
Until a few days ago i was certain that there was a goal to this mode, when i found out there wasn’t, i doubt i’ll ever return :/ Was it fun? Hell yeah! But now when i know there isnt anything in the end of the tunnel…. i feel meh. The one thing keeping me there is that i havent gotten all poi/vistas/, yeah i’m one of those that can’t leave them there untaken

Agreed. I’ve been playing this for a few weeks now, and i thought that there was a point in doing this game mode, i was certain that at the end of the month you get something for helping winning or something.

Warhammer online’s Rvr had it’s purpose, you locked zones to raid the capital. That’s a reason why you did it, it was a goal to look forward to. In Wvsw there is no point, would be great if they atleast did something. I mean right now… what’s the point?
People that is against this, not sure why you would be against having a common goal for everyone to try and achieve, it will still be casual friendly, you can still roam, and do what you want to do.
If this or something like this was implemented, you would see more people play this game mode. But it’s been 3 years, doubt they will do anything.
Before i support this idea i must say. These pieces should ONLY drop from the certain boss, you should NOT be able to aquire them through PVP or any other way than killing world bosses. Low drop rate.
So something in gw2 remains somewhat intact and in line with other mmorpg’s, so you have SOMETHING to look forward too.
If anet adds mounts, the right way.
This would bring in more cash to Ncsoft, players would play longer and more which is what anet want’s.
I’m pretty sure there is a good reason they havent put in mounts yet, it has to do with something serious. From a business standpoint, adding mounts would be ideal, all the way.
Adding mounts, different mounts, maybe even customizable, where you could buy some gear from BLTC, some gear that drops from world bosses, even ordinary dynamic events. I mean can you imagine how much people these could attract?
Woha, adding mounts would def bring in money, no doubt about it. In the long run, this would only benefit them. IF they do it right.
And the thing about gold sinks, lol, mounts are the RIGHT gold sink. I mean mounts must be one of the biggest gold sinks in WoW, or atleast was? Imagine if mounts was customizable.. The gold and real money i would spend is insain..

I tend to agree somewhat, but not for the same reasons.
But they wont delevel people and delevel zones/mobs/etc just for the reasons you put out.
They will keep it like this now, and until the end of tyria, unless they one day increase level and give us a new level to look forward too.
They can get rewards more interesting just by reducing loot by 50% (my mouse will thank a-net if they ever do this) and just give us better loot, and the chance for better loot.

Believe it or not, this exact thing happened to a guild mate of mine. I think Anet should just be nice and grant precursors to the main account. Otherwise it’s just a punch in the gut.
They should not, they told us, as with every other game i know of, you won’t keep things from BETA.

If the problem was the price, the people would be screaming bloody murder for a legendary costing almost as much as the game, heck way more than the game since it was down to 10 bucks and now free. lol
Not everyone can get in, means that if you get in someone else of the vets wont, which should you pick to get in?

It’s pretty much the same everywhere, let’s hope he doesn’t play WoW, there you have static quests xD (Where you have to do one thing, and one thing only)
But it is his first impression, and i do think it’s important to take it serious. Altho 3-4 hours isn’t at all that much, it’s enough. They should have one JP in every starting zone as a “mission” so they atleast can try that, aswell as a dynamic event that appears frequently close to middle so they can experience that aswell. But gw2 is abit harder to understand than most mmorpg, cause gw2 is not like most mmos, it just isn’t.
The last badge is truly impossible, the width of the rope is wrong on so many levels, they should change it, not making it wider or anything, just show it’s true colors, right now the width is wrong.
And also… Does anyone have any portal to this cursed-kitten-terrible-mind numbind annoying-hateful-ragequitting-badge? When you finally make it over the rope smaller than a piece of paper, you make one wrong move and you have to redo it.
I know this will never happen for me, ever. I made everyone else, but this one is something else. Could use some tips/hints just general help if not a portal, this is truly driving me slowly insain xD

What about having it look the same before the last quest on your personal story?
And after that (Give or take time X) It changes.
And everybody who hasn’t done the personal story goes in the same instance of Orr, but after you have done the very last quest, it changes drastically over time.
But even if this change would happen like that, it would still be flawed, people not doing the personal story cause they wanna experience Orr like it was, friends that can’t play together in Orr cause one of them has finished the story, oh.. i see loads of issues with this.
However, it would be epic having to be part of something that does change with your personal story, and it’s just 3 zones that you can’t play together in until you have finished the story, or that you make another char. Anyways…
