People might think this is good, so why not just remove leveling alltogether, make all zones open for every level.
But that wouldn’t happen since “Arenanet understands there is and must be some form of progression”.
There is one company out there, that only releases progression type games, you only need one guess, and these guys know how to entangle people, how to make them addictive. I understand Anet don’t want to follow that very special path, and nor should they, but to make a decked out level 80 less powerful than a low level is and will always be seen as a big NO-NO for number of reasons, reasons i’m sure you are well aware.
But is this final? You don’t think they will change it later on so that a level 80 will be more powerful again, as it should be, the reason people level is quiet obvious isn’kitten
If not, why level up so you can become less powerful in lower level zones? It should be the other way around, or we can start from level 80 and work our way to level 1.. uhm..
I don’t see this change lasting very long, they still have the upper hand in that when you reach 80 you open up an already open game more, but keep on removing small bits and pieces and you will soon find yourself not wanting, or needing to level up at all. And that’s when it gets dangerous.
Mmorpg without the proper progression doesn’t last long. Nope, not talking about instances etc, but i am talking about hard encounters that you face when reaching level 80, and no, not talking about low level zones.
I do hope they change it.

I think that this so called “give away” of the core game is a blatant kick in the teeth of every existing player in the game, but that’s their choice. My main concern is if this expansion will have enough content to justify that price tag. I’m sure not going to pre-order until we know for sure what our money is buying, and if as I suspect, the expansion content is a tiny fraction of the size of the original game, then I’ll wait until it’s selling for a tiny fraction of the original games price before I buy it. I’d rather miss out on the “free” character slot than buy a pig in a poke.
Wait for the next expansion and get this one for free, show us that you truly believe what you say you believe.
I would suggest waiting 10 years for the last expansion so you can get everything before for free, might wanna try that?

Amazing that some people here haven’t thought it through just yet, let it sink in. What i’m about to tell you, will make it sink in faster. Here goes..
“I purchased gw2 3 years ago, and have spend a good amount on gems with real money, does this mean i should get this expansion for free, since i helped out more than most on the gem store, and maybe throw in some really nice things like housing only for the ones who spend as much as me on gems?”
The answer is NO. Now… let the process of this sink in, i do hope you understand.
And I don’t like crafting, why do I have to craft to get ascended gear?
And I don’t like PvPing, why do I have to do it to get Glorious Armor?
And I don’t like grinding for gold, why do I have to do it to get a Legendary?
And I also don’t like talking to NPCs, why do I have to talk to NPCs to play the story?
And I also don’t like fighting, why do I have to fight to do pretty much anything?
And I don’t like making a character, why do I have to mke a character to play the game?
This sums it up.
That’s the most important thing, that you had fun. And fun for so long, it’s very rare.
Happy huntings elsewhere, hope you find another game that can give yu what gw2 did.
Been doing these quests over and over and over again, figured out how to kill him, i actually did, before getting disconnected.
And again, disconnected, and disconnected.
I have to RESTART it all over again, at the kitten cave… over and over and over and over AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER…
Can’t take it anymore. Can’t kittening do it, some force is refusing me to finish this quest.. I now better than to continue when someone clearly doesn’t want me to finish this quest.
These people live in a dreamworld. They have little to no idea how the real world works.
I wish they were right, man i would love it, infact, today i’m gonna call the store that sold me my current computer around 4 years ago, and ask if i can get my money back.
It costed me around 2k -2,5k and is on sale today for 1k – 1,2k, not only that but you get more for that price, a mouse & keyboard and a decent sound system (Better than i have now).
Which means, these noobs that go in and buy that today will get a better price than me?! Even tho i shop there frequently!
Seriously, don’t they hear themselves?
Why would you even pay 60$ for the base game? You can get the base game for 20$
You won’t have that option when HoT goes live. Early adopters will end up paying about $100 for the same content that the new players get for $50.
If i buy WoW today i won’t have to pay what someone that bought every expansion on release would have to pay. If i bought a brand new computer today, mark my words within 3 months the price will have gone down, that does NOT mean i will get my money that i supposedly “lost” back.
I do think however within 30 days it’s reasonable to get your money back, so you can buy hot, but you will lose your account. Resonable and fair.
But to believe that you will get back money from 3 years ago, you are living in a dreamworld and have little to no experience. And to believe that somehow just because you bought the game 3 years ago, you wil get the expansion for free.
I mean what’s going on here? WoW has sub fee’s and still people buy their expansion and there’s not any bs over there, yet in Gw2 a game you can play how much you want for a reasonable price it get’s torn to pieces?
Something is wrong here.
So with this new expansion it includes the core game as well as the expansion? So in other words i just paid $60 for GW2 when i could have gotten it AND the expansion for $50 if i had just waited? or is the expansion JUST the expansion and not include the core game?
Per Regina The expansion costs $50. The core game is included as a free gift to new players.
“Just paid $60” how recent is “just paid”
…I’m pretty sure core hasn’t cost $60 within the last year, could be wrong though…
Either way, looks like if you contact support they will refund you up to 30 days(and completely close your account, including the gw1 link of applied); at which point you can pre-purchase HoT, which includes core.Per arenanet/staff/knights, you would not be buying core at this point, but getting it included with your HoT purchase. It is very important to remember this fact, that core will be given to you, free of charge, valued at $0. Otherwise, you may get upset.
That sounds like semantic corporate mumbo jumbo-babble to me.
sigh
But it’s not corporate mumbo jumbo. If you’ve bought the expansion recently ask for a refund. If you haven’t bought it recently you’ve had time to play it and you’ve gotten money out of it.
I once bought a TV and six months later it was $100 less. Sure, but I was using it for six months.
Welcome to the real world.
That’s a poor comparison. This is more like getting a shelf, building up a china plate collection, and then after seeing a better deal on a shelf having to give up your entire collection just to get the same value that other people are getting.
Keep in mind that in order to receive refunds, people have to give up their current accounts entirely. If they worked hard over the past ~30 days, that could be a lot of effort gone entirely to waste simply because they were misled to believe that there wouldn’t be this better deal.
If they bought the kitten game 2 months ago and played so much with so many achi/gear/gold/whatever that they don’t want to refund it, but still feel like they want a refund cause they lost money.
No one can help them. You either get a refund but lose all your progress, with a new cheaper fresh account, or you keep the account but “lose” money. You can’t have it both ways.
I feel like keeping my account but still get the discount, it somehow proves my point doesn’kitten Because if you truly wan’t to save your account, you are saying that the money you put down was worth it, don’t you? If you truly played that much during those 2 months, that you don’t want a refund, it was worth it all along.
I think 30 days Guarantee seems legit, you bought it within 30 days of the HoT pricing announcement, you should get your money back, but you will lose your account (as you should) But atleast you will save some money. They do this exact thing in my business where i work.
I have grown fond of the UI, but just for the purpose of the “new feeling” i would gladly welcome some UI changes.
Hopefully we will see it later on, maybe. But for now it works well, and it’s design is perfect with the game, but like i said, for the new and fresh feeling i wouldn’t mind a new UI at all.
To the shark after you killed it i would say
“His sense of duty was no less than yours, I deem. You wonder what his name is… where he came from. And if he was really evil at heart. What lies or threats led him on this long march from home. If he would not rather have stayed there… in peace. War will make corpses of us all. "
And then i would say, i would love to see a sharknado in gw2, i’m super serial!
I remember a post a while back which started off with The title was something along the lines of “Name one time the developers actually listened to us”, and was a rant about how the players always get ignored. Anyway, people started giving examples of changes that were made based on player feedback, and the list got so long that th OP changed the title out of embarrassment.
And i missed it! :/
Tell them not to bother for ten years till the final expansion, then you get everything else free.
Hahaha!
I have wondered about that myself, and it does worry me abit. Gating people even further, when this game is sooo big, the fact that you see people everywhere still is amazing, they have done well. It would not have worked with factions tho.
Even low level zones and mid level zones are packed. Cudos.
But time will tell, i don’t think it will be that different from today tho, hopefully we see cities alive and well.
Doubt the world itself will feel dead, since you have to venture out to get anything, you don’t get anything staying in cities today (like epic lootz). The only thing i’m, worried about is cities, but i’m sure Anet has looked at this too
Yes, OP. I am glad people are talking more about the fact that it’s now impossible to buy GW2 without buying HoT.
The only package that anyone is able to buy is, consequently, THE WHOLE GAME FROM SCRATCH (even though, if you’re an existing player, you don’t get a separate code for the base game or any credit for repurchasing it whatsoever).
Let’s dwell on that for a moment: regardless of how long anyone of us has been playing, whether from launch or from six weeks ago, we must now purchase the exact same item that a brand new player is purchasing to begin playing the game.
Calling the base game a “bonus” for new players when they buy HoT is pure marketing spin, and it’s simply disingenuous. It’s not a bonus. It is THE ONLY WAY for new players to buy the game at all.
This is not a bonus, it’s a bundle, and it is a bundle that’s content is only 1/2 irrelevant for existing players. They’re not giving anything away as a free bonus; they’re trying to twist all our arms into (re)buying the same core game package as new players while giving us only a portion of the value for purchasing the same product.
You don’t get 1/2 when you buy HoT, you already have 1/2 so you get 2/2 when you buy HoT.
Not that hard.
You are saying that if i buy WoW and all it’s expansions today i should pay the price it costed on release? The value of those things have since long decreased. And i will never buy a 20 year old car for the price of a new one. Neither should you.
for 50$ you get the expansion, that’s it. You don’t get 4k gems, 8k gems, 12k gems or whatever you want. You get the expansion. If i’m new and buy HoT i too get the expansion and the core game as a bonus since it won’t play without it.
So i’m new i pay 50$, you bought gw2 on release so you payed 50$, and you have to pay another 50$ for this expansion.
New guy pays 50$, you pay 100$ alltogether. You could have waited until today to buy it to save some money, same goes for everything else. If i wait to buy something i will most certainly save money, but i won’t have it until later on.
This iphone i have right now, if i waited 1 year or more to buy it, let alone 3 years, it would not nor should cost as much today as it did 3 years ago, can we atleast agree on that?
As a old gw2 player, this makes sense to me, and it should make sense to everyone. IF HoT is worth it is another matter, the only way to know that is to play it. But anet has yet to let me down, that’s why i trust them that HoT will be worth it. =)
(edited by Tirien.1326)
HoT is labeled an expansion but that is an outright lie.
HoT is now the core game. Any information telling you otherwise is marketing.
If it were REALLY an expansion then I would be able to buy just the expansion. However since the option to buy regular gw2 disappeared from your official store it’s very clear to me how you mean to play this.
New players getting a gift? That’s great!
So what does a loyal customer receive because they can’t claim this free gift? Nothing! Thanks! I feel so satisfied as a long time customer!
There are numerous and legitimate reasons as to why other people are angry and those should be kept to those topics.
Here I am only talking about the fact that officially vanilla gw2 does not exist anymore according to Anet. This disregards the fact that physical copies are still circulating and ripping less savvy customers off.
I’m just disappointed because I’ve now lost trust in a company that I loved.
Imagine if some players get’s something that other’s don’t. There will be hell to pay “I should get that too!” “I played for 2 years, what do i get?!” “I played for 1 year and bought loads of gems, what should i get?!” “If you don’t get me something special i won’t buy HoT!!”
IT’s better to keep things equal, you pay 50$ you get the expansion, if you want 4k, 8k, 12k gems you buy it from the store, simple as that. Cause none of that is needed to play HoT.
That people don’t trust Anet after all this time, 3 years of gaming for 50$ is insain.
The best way to get you people to understand is to leave this game and try your luck on other games, all other games, that way you will get some perspective over how much you do get for the low price.
If you don’t think it’s worth 50$then wait for more information about the expansion. I trust Anet so i will buy this expansion in a few days. I don’t feel like i should deserve more than someone who will buy it at release.
My 20 year old car is not worth as much as a new car, that’s a fact. The same applies to games. If i buy WoW and all it’s expansions today, i wont pay as much as someone who bought it on release, i don’t kitten and moan about that.
Character Slot for Heart of Thorns? [Merged]

I don’t need it, if i want one, i buy it with gems.
It should NOT come in the deal, it’s not something that you need to play HoT.
I bought gw2 on release and played it since with monthly breaks and all, and i still don’t want stuff for free. Price is fair for an expansion, and it shouldn’t come with a level 80 character or 4000 gems or 8000 gems or 12000 gems, or whatever some people want.
You pay for the expansion, you get the expansion, everything else you need like character slots or whatever it is, gems, etc, you pay for yourself.
10 bucks says you’ll buy HoT.
That’s way to expensive, i’m a veteran and i should be getting a wager on 5 bucks and a cherry on top.
Well see just how long Gw2 will last with no income. These people can still just find another 20 hour game for 50$, trust me, they’ll be back and pay for this expansion in a heartbeat, when they know what’s out there.
Let them leave if they don’t want to pay. They’ll be back, 50$ for another 3 years is 2 expensive? Oh my.
Why don’t we see this in WoW aswell? Buying WoW and all it’s expansion does not Cost as much today as they once did, which means that we should have seen this bs all the time in WoW forums, but we dont.
Infact, we should see this all the time in all gaming forums all the freakin time.
It’s a fair price. Keep it this way for god sake.
I pre purchased the original game, played alpha and betas, contribute regularly to the gem store and bought the ULTIMATE option. Funny how $35 would make some of you happy. 10 is what it would take to make others happy.
Thanks for a great game over 3 years with no required pay walls, Anet. Thank you. You’re so greedy. Not asking for money and all that.
You can mow lawns for 20 bucks where I live. Suck it up.
I agree
I bought the game, and bought around 10k gems. And somehow, i don’t feel like i’m being kittened at by Arenanet. Imagine those that only payed for the game and played 3 years, what a bargain!
50$ for this expansion is well worth it, cause i don’t live in a dreamworld where my 20 year old car is worth as much as a new car from 2015, or that my iphone 5 is worth as much as a new iphone 6.
I mean these things happen all the time in the gaming industry, and to me this is logical. If i buy WoW and all it’s expansions today, i won’t pay nearly as much as someone who bought WoW and all it’s expansion on release day. To me it’s common sense..
Value drops over time. And i feel good about buying this expansion, cause these guys deserve it. And if it’s worth the price tag or not, is up to the buyer, they will release more info as time passes.
Amazing that people still think that the value of something stays the same year after year.
Everything loses it’s value over x period of time, that’s how it goes.
I can’t sell a old car for the price of a new one, won’t ever happen. And it’s true, if you wait long enough this expansion and the price tag with it will fall, just like it does with WoW and every other game.. ever.
If i buy WoW and all expansions today, i will not spend nearly as much as someone who bought these on release day, you can call them Veterans. I don’t see them kitten and moan about that.
And if you think this price tag is just not worth it, you don’t buy it. There’s more to HoT than we know right now, and it’s not like they will release it tomorrow, more info on the expansion will come.
And no, i don’t think they should give anyone veteran or new player extra char slot.
WE already got those when we bought the game.
(edited by Tirien.1326)
Stop the white knight.
Two people go into same shop to buy a bundle made out of 2 items, lets call the item BOB, Person 1 already have a BOB and person two dont.
Bundle contains BOB and a expansion for BOB.The Problem is when you leave the store, a store clerk come running after you and say to the one: Sorry Sir, but i see that you already have BOB at home and takes your BOB away.
Both payed the same amount, How do you think person 1 feels now ?
This is the main reason people are getting so angry. We hate when other steal from us
Wrong.
One of those two buys something a year ago, the other one goes in the same shop and buys the same thing a year after, he gets it for a lower price and it includes something else. Like all games…. Value changes….
Its cute that you think that the value of something stays the same, year after year. It doesn’t. I wish it was so… That would mean i could get 60k$ for my pos volvo v40 1998…

Oh my, so let me get this straight. If i buy a car from the year 2000, it should cost me (according to these people) the same amount of money as a car made in 2015?
I hope these guys are right, maybe i will get 60-70k$ for my kittenty pos volvo v40 year 1998!
HUUURAY!
Will buy it in a few days)
When someone buys a WoW expansion they pay around this price range, even if you played since vanilla, you still get the same amount of gameplay as someone that just started.
I understand most of you don’t have any experience in the mmo world, but this price is fair to say the least. It’s kind of silly to think that every WoW expansion is a new core game, it’s not, it’s an expansion.
And no one, no one, not one single person should get something extra just because you have played since release. Same goes for all games. And btw, the core game in the expansion is a bonus, it’s not something that ups the price, it’s a bonus you get when you buy the expansion. So we wont see the core game being sold after this expansion, it will probably be only the expansion with the core game inside.
It’s a great way to keep it simple for newcomers. Unless you hate noobs, and don’t want new people to this amazing game?
I Paid 50 bucks for the base game when it released
I have to pay 50 bucks for the xpac… so that must mean I will get an equal amount of content as the base game when it released right???
the answer to that is an emphatic NO judging by what anet has shown us so far regarding HoT…
Only the white knights are just blindly throwing anet 50-100 bucks..for a product that doesnt even have a release window + half the details on content still missing… by all means, if you want to, go ahead, more power to you, but realize anet’s strategy here is to grab as much money as they can, as quick as they can from the overzealous supporters of gw2… majority of the player base will wait it out and see… because there is no logical reason at all to pre order a game that barely has any info regarding the content
Yeah. Or they can do just shut it down. So we can move on to another game and not spend any money so they can shut that down too, soon we wont have any game, cause people think everything is free. But it’s not.
I will pre-order it. the amount of time i have played this game for 3 years for the silly price of 50$, all i can say is.. Anet deserves my money. No other mmorpg that i know of that isn’t p2w is this generous.
You either buy it or not. I do think there’s more to HoT than we know of, even if it’s not, 50$ is the least i can do for a game that i think is… Awsome.
I’ve got to get this off my chest.
-How can some of you look people in the eye and claim Arenanet is not giving you a whole lot of content(HoT specifically) when you haven’t played or experienced everything(and I mean EVERYTHING) that is this expansion offers, hmm? Do any of you have access to some leaked version of the full expansion or w/e? Enough with assumptions and back seat game development. You don’t work for Anet.
-The base expansion is $50. Ok, cool. Historically, most MMO expansions have been about $40-60. So how is this a problem? It’s because people keep equating whatever “value” the game has with games that aren’t even in the same genre: ie every game that doesn’t require an internet connection. They just don’t say it(probably because they dot understand the meaning of their words). Those games(usually) don’t ask for this level of pricing because they don’t have to continue developing content for it. People can continue to play those games well after the publisher and devs have moved on to other projects. MMOs(and MOBAs) don’t get this luxury.
-Yet naive individuals here will procrastinate on the “value” of the prices. There is no “value”. That’s a subjective emotion you make up for yourself to justify your purchase. And there’s nothing wrong with that. However, it holds not one kitten ounce of meaning as far as the quality of the expansion goes. We have reviews/reviewers for that. The price of reason is steep.
/rant
At least we can still all agree that the real only valid argument here is that the standard edition does not come with a free character slot. As it should, at the minimum for people who bought the game very recently.
Dude, you do realize by your own vocation that’s like someone showing you half of something behind their back and saying “50 bucks and it’s yours” Well can I see the rest of what i’m buying that’s a lot of money to be investing in a few things here and there, can I see if it’s broken, scratched up, can I at least see the details on the item i’m buying?"
So far we know we’re getting two large maps, guild halls and a bunch of gamechanges KEEP IN MIND these changes will not come with HoT but actually be released before hand into the main game.
And yes we do have reviewers for the expansion when it comes out.
“But if you want all those shiny bonuses and stuff we off, throw your lot in with us now, commit and hope it’s what you’re after!”So in retrospec 2 maps, a class and guild halls ((Which I believe might actually be coming base game as well))
for $50 USD take a step back and re-read what you said and what I have clarified on.
You are a value hunter, and thus waiting for reviews and threads about information after release to make up your own mind if this is indeed worthy of your money or not.
It seems to be the best option for you.
I know it is worth my money, all i can do is look at the amount of gametime this one game has offered me over three years time, and it costed me between 40-50$, so another 50$ is hell yes from me.
If anyone deserves it in the mmorpg desert out there, it’s arenanet.
So, although people bought gw2 for cheap to get into the game, they could’ve waited this whole time to just buy the expansion and get the core game for free….
Just wow….
As for people who bought the game from the beginning, we basically are buying the whole game all over again.
I don’t think words can express how much of a rip off this is…
Yeah 50$ for a game you played for 2-3 years and another 50$ to get the expansion and the core game as a BONUS.
You don’t even know what a rip off is, young one.

People can’t read, or atleast can’t read very well.
You don’t pay for the core game, it’s just a bonus, you see you don’t pay for the core game, it’s just as a bonus… As a bonus…
Making it easy for anyone to buy the expansion and jump in and just play, without the core game you can’t play, so they added it as a bonus… as a bonus.. as a bonus..
To end this issue, they should come up with Upgrade pack from core game for existing GW2 players, cost $29.99. Case closed.
Pretty much.
Or give them the value of what they paid for the base game against the current value of the HoT bundle.
The $50 price tag IS for the upgrade, you guys need to get that fact into your heads.
Good sir, I already own the base game why would i pay for it TWICE.
While this pre-order may contain an upgrade it also contains a product i already own as part of the sale price. Meaning that i am effectively missing another product if i purchase as is currently bundled.
Get that through your head.
It’s just a bonus, it’s not actually added to the price, it’s a bonus. You ask why you should pay for the same thing twice, well, you don’t. Simple and easy.
Waaaaa, I played this game for 2-3 years and payed 50$ and now then want another 50$!!??11
Waaaa, why do they want money, it’s not like taking care of the game costs, especially when they don’t have a sub fee.
You do that, see you in 5
Yeah, its a good and calm place, and it does feel more mature, can’t ask for more than that.
And a solid game too, ofcourse =)
My heart goes out for his family and friends, sorry for your loss.
I support this 100%
I came back around 2 months ago, got a few friends of mine joining, so far we are having geat fun. Even tho i play actively (everyday for 1-3 hours) we still havent done it all, not even close. There’s alot more to do now (Zones/Quests/etc) than it was on release.
I’m sure you will have fun. And one more thing, when it comes to PvP 5vs5, it’s finally awsome, and it’s addictive as hell!
Have fun and welcome back!
Uhm no, i can see storage (Bank) being account wide, but why on earth should bag slot be? What i have in my bag slot on one char, i don’t have on another. Bank on the other hand is shared among all my characters.
So no, i just don’t see it.
Sorry for the loss.
& a nice montage of memories
Imagine having mounts, you could customize, put gear on etc. That is a huge time sink, if they indeed one day add them, they will see just how much time people will put down on their mounts.
It’s falconlover all over again…. sad face, pece.
Hmm… All it needs is one thread and it’s done.
But i’m not so sure if you are playing the same game, well yes, yes you are.
Megaserver has most of us in a few phases of the game.
I have not seen any toxic players at all, not in general chat, not in talk, not ever.
The only place this game has toxic players, is dungeons and ranked PvP, where people can say whatever they feel like, but the best part is to just report and block, they will get what they deserve if they spew bs, insults/threats/etc.
Toxic players in a more “competetive” area is normal, doubt there’s anyway around it.
But out in the world, i have yet to see any abuse of any kind, ever. Infact, this is the first game where people actually HELP eachother, yeah, help.
It’s what happens with WoW which is, of course, the industry leader. WoW almost always loses millions of players between expansions and usually gains most of them back when expansions come out.
So I don’t really understand where the question is coming from.
You really don’t understand where the question is coming from??
Your example of WoW probably not a good one, WoW did say that they lost 2.9million players this year so far due to lack of content, so they have lost more players than GW2 has playing the game, and they still maintain close to 7million PAYING players, that’s 7 million people paying $15 a month, so much for nothing to do,
I think you would be hard pushed to find people who would pay a monthly fee to play GW2 in its current state, its free to play and people still don’t want to log in, putting all the eggs in the HOT Basket could back fire badly.
WoW dominates the MMO market and have done for years, and will continue to do so, anyone who uses WoW as an example against GW2 is wrong, im willing to bet any company would take 7million paying customers over a game struggling to maintain at this moment id say 1 million on a hard push.
And no im not a WoW player.
I see this alot, and it frustrates me to oblivion. WoW may have one trillion subscribers, but if those trillions of subscribers lives in ASIA, you can’t play with them, talk to them, see them. IT doesn’t matter does it?
And just a side note, i play wow (or atleast did often) close to 1 year ago, did you know that early level zones and mid zones are pretty much dead? In GW2, a game that doesn’t have those trillions of billions of people playing it, it still feels more alive and well than any mmorpg to date. That’s thanks to Anets system of downleveling and other mechanics.
Gw2 aint going nowhere, with the amount of money they make from Gemstore, lol, there’s a reason there are several Free 2 play mmorpgs out there. And they seem to do fine.
Why worry about this game, when this game offers more than anyother game i know that has been out for 3 years? I mean SWTOR is still on, if that game is alive and kicking, oh man, this game is more than doing just well, it must do VERY well.
If HOT is good, ir good enough, i can see plenty of people coming back, and those that say they wont, they will, just like in WoW you got people that say they won’t buy the expansion, but they do. I’m not talking about the casuals that try a game out for a couple of months, i’m talking about the fanbase that is today and has been playing on/off for years.
A game that is this well done, i just don’t see it going anywhere soon.
It’s great, finally something that is somewhat “hard”, when you learn the mechanics you can take the boss out. It’s not a gimmick, it’s a mechanic.
A-net don’t nerf, i too end up mad when i can’t kill the bosses as fast as i would like, but i like it, i like that it’s difficult.
Bought around 12-15k gems give or take, storage for bank and invent, etc.
A game this big as a buy 2 play, they deserve it, you should spend some money too!
Came back 2 months ago with a couple of friends, not regretting one minute of it.
We are having a blast, and it feels as tho the game has gotten alot better.
WB!
Gear stats are going to get so much change from the trait/stat separation, I don’t think they’ll consider changing gear stats any more until they’ve worked all that out.
I myself would not want this, because I mix and match pieces form different sets. This would put me at a disadvantage in your proposed “Armor Set” system.
Or it could end up to benefit you. It goes both ways
Welcome back, the game is great. Just came back 2 months ago and took some friends with me, so far we’ve been having a blast!
It seems alot has changed, i’m sure somewhere on these forums you’ll find what
Good luck
Welcome to tyria, all i can say is…
Pick a warrior, easy to learn, they dish out dmg like hell-ish.
And enjoy this vast and glorious world! You will feel like a question mark on occation, but once you start to learn, you’ll love it!
Screw holy trinity when you have zerk trinity? =)
Yep, welcome to micro-transaction pricing schemes.
They’ll always try and force you to buy more of the currency than you need so that you’re inclined to buy even more things from the gem store. Just one of the things they have in place to ensure every little nickle and dime is scraped off the floor for their coffers.
Although you can always liquidate any excess into in-game gold if you’d prefer to do that. At least they let you exchange a custom amount now, so you can actually sell off any excess gems.
Well they can always shut the game down for not being profitable if you’d rather like that
I pay around 4k gems every month, cause the magnitude of this game and that it costed me around 20-30$ to buy and play forever, is to me awsome. I don’t know any game THIS BIG for 20-30$ that you don’t have to pay for each month.
Go ahead, gief them your money, these guys actually deserve it.
