I think it’s just that the Death Magic tree isn’t that appealing to most specs, it has a lot of minion traits which people will hardly ever go for since minions aren’t used that often.
Also the stats are Toughness which is second to Vitality for a Necros defense, and Boon Duration which means nothing to us.
So really the only reason people go 10 into it is for Greater Marks and that’s it, to go 20 into it might kitten peoples specs too much just for 1 condition removal every DS.
I mean compare even the No.15 Minor Traits in each tree with Death Magics -
20 toughness per minion is useless without minions compared to:
Curses – ‘Furious Demise’ which provides 5 sec fury into DS which is huge.
Blood magic – ‘Vampiric’ siphon health on hit which helps shape vampire specs.
Soul Reaping – ‘Last Gasp’ is a free Spectral Armor at 50% hp every 60 secs.
For these reasons above, Death Magic will always be the least attractive tree and unfortunately although ‘Shrouded Removal’ itself is quite a nice trait to have and serves it purpose well, it’s more the fault of Death Magics synergy than the trait itself as to why it isn’t brought into many specs.

In WvW i think it is kind of expected of you to use it for access deny and maximum potency in zerg fights or tower/keep capping, and then the blocking part, really important for PvP.
For PvE or watever, well it’s upto you coz it’s just PvE. ^^
I would rather it remove 1 Condition entering DS and 1 Condition leaving DS, that way you can control when you remove your conditions, leaving less to chance and more to player skill. Also this would help people like myself who fast swap in and out of DS to gain fury/retal with it’s 5 sec CD. \o/
This is actually a better idea than my change but I was trying to find a way to encourage people to stay in DS instead of it just being a cooldown spam bar.
There are definitely reasons to stay in DS, like using 4 and soon 5, stacking might with 1, or just doing nice AA damage with 1 in a power build, except this is done mostly in PvE or WvW and not sPvP.
In sPvP it’s just best practice for skilled necros to only use DS to soak damage and then leave it, or to fear, it’s not that common to stay in it until it’s depleted, purely for the fact that it’s just better to save it for the occasions mentioned above.
Even with the potentially large LF regen buff we may get on the 25th, i still don’t see PvP necros change the way they use DS other than to incorporate the use of our new 5 skill, the use of DS is a major play style decision that won’t be swayed by such a talent change.
People aren’t going to drain 5 seconds of their LF pool to remove a random condition that could have already finished doing it’s harm, it’s too situational.
At least with (my idea) a removal of a condition both in and out of DS, they can either spam DS to remove 2 conditions instantly, or remove one on entry and if they get screwed over again by a 2nd root or blind, they can then leave it and be set free, people love this kind of control with their skills.
This will also provide a good combo for when we need to use DS to wait out our CD for a heal, and if our DS runs out, that condition removal could save our lives from the dot that would’ve killed us while we were casting the heal. I kno a few times where dots have killed me while casting heal. :P
If this change happened to the talent, i would definitely pick it up for pvp and possibly WvW.
I would rather it remove 1 Condition entering DS and 1 Condition leaving DS, that way you can control when you remove your conditions, leaving less to chance and more to player skill. Also this would help people like myself who fast swap in and out of DS to gain fury/retal with it’s 5 sec CD. \o/
So with the new ‘Fresh Air’ talent (Crits take Air Attunement off CD, 5 sec ICD), that would mean almost perma up-time of Air ay, coz by the time you go back into air and use your abilities then go out and use another ability and crit, the 5 sec ICD would have passed.
This seems like a fun talent for bursting, but i just hope in the future they don’t decide to increase the ICD.
But for now i will still have to see how much my D/D build is getting hurt, most times i have from 5-7 boons, so i will lose 5-7% in overall damage. And lucky for me the 2 cantrips i ran with were Armor and Mist heh, but i did run 3 in sPvP. :P
O well, still not getting used to the RTL nerf, have to always tell myself not to use it because i will have to wait 40 seconds, at least this patch doesn’t force a change on the way i play, just nerfs the damage abit. ^^
I kno ay, effigies are stupid, we should go around to all of the effigies and just burn them, to show that we don’t like them. Who’s with me \o/ !!
I just did all the zones except for a couple coz i didn’t have the WP
-Then guested to another server and did them again
—Then guested again and finished them off
Costed just under 1g, which was the same amount of gold i got from the Living Story
; Edit: oh but i also did a few events on the way
so i probably made back 10 silver hehe.
I don’t want to explore the areas yet, because i plan to do that after exams on my alt \o/ which will be fun fun for Tobby Wobby
(edited by Tobbygnome.6793)
But then why would u go for the World Achievement if you don’t want the reward in the first place? xD
I do think Monthlys should be harder, doing WvW for a couple hours can sometimes complete it for me, if Monthlys were harder, then Weeklys could be just as hard as Monthlys are now, or slightly less.
Sea of Sorrows, just uncontested now o/
Let me start this post first by saying “I don’t really care about how fast i gain Laurels, in no way do i believe it’s too hard or too easy to get ascended gear and that’s not what this post is about.” ty <3
So
, I really like doing Daily’s and Monthly’s, it seems to be the only thing in the endgame that i really strive to complete. If it wasn’t for daily’s i wouldn’t go to low level zones and help lowbies do events/veterans and all that, but when i do it it’s really fun because I’m double dipping in my daily achievements.
When my Daily is done, i have to decide what to do (o.o?), but all the options don’t seem that appealing since i don’t really care about legendarys or skins, and WvWs fun depends on my servers peek
. I still find stuff to do, yet the most fun time of the day is still after my daily resets and i can roam the land again reaping Laurels. ^__^
Personally I am far from bored with GW2, it’s still my #1 game currently and i love playing it everyday. But i would like to suggest Weekly Achievements because i really really like doing daily/month and with the new Ascended Weapons and Armor coming in the distant future, Weeklys could possibly allow for a more ‘varied’ Laurel acquisition instead of x10 for the month, then x1 every day.
Weeklys could give x2 or x3 Laurels, it doesn’t matter, it’s just nice to be rewarded for different things
. All i’m asking for is for more reasons to do random stuff that rewards us at the end. – Weeklyyyyyyyyyyyyys \o/

Then what do you do when you’re 80 :P
Farm CoF P1 to get gear xD
By which time – “If you hurry, you will be witness to her death!”
I learned that my world (SoS) actually stands for ‘Save Our Souls’ \o/
hehe
Oh I didn’t really know GW2 had an elitist PvE scene, that always seemed kind of paradoxical to me because once you learn the coding behind the classes/fight you’re done you know, knowledge = skill. Not to sound negative or belittling, i just thought the classes were too imbalanced PvE wise to spawn a proper competitive scene, aren’t you just narrowed to using a bunch of warr/mes/guards or something.
When GW2 came out people told me it was a PvP game and PvE was just in there for the sake of it, i believed that after a few days of playing on release. So when i got to 80 i didn’t really expect to find myself striving for the best gear in the top dungeons, i just played for fun and took GW2 as a way to step away from my elite playstyle because i am far from casual.
I mean you have to expect a game to be casual when the game has dyes, sims clothing, and a whole store full of other cosmetic jibber jabber, because that’s what the developers are payed to put their time into. Also the game isn’t sub based, so we shouldn’t be asking for new content every month like people do to Blizzard.
But then people ask the question “What is Anet doing to make the game more difficult?”, well lets look at what they are trying to do atm – One thing that comes to mind here is they are trying to get tpvp into esports, so that’s obviously part of the focus of their game. Next is WvW, where they just released a new matchmaking system, again more focus on PvP.
You can kind of see here how their look on PvP is more serious in terms of pushing it to be noticed and highly looked upon, where as their look on PvE is more casual with all the fun new easy achievements, super adventure box, holiday events etc. I mean they do a pretty good job with their new PvE content but the people who will enjoy it most and for weeks after its released will be casual players because that’s all Living Story and that are aimed at.
I guess when they put FOTM in the game they were hoping the level system and random world thing would be enough in terms of longevity in the endgame PvE dungeon scene.
I guess the game will only be fun for you if you go into it expecting exactly what it is – A casual MMO with a greater focus on PvP and fun social events than Hardcore PvE. That’s my view on this discussion.

These points make sense, and although i pick up 90% of my bags with the help of ‘Left Ctrl’ to see the bags names show up, i still think it’s work and holds up zergs causing people to be left behind sometimes.
One suggestion i can make for this issue is to make the Bags of Loot the same as regular material bags of loot you get from mobs, which will be automatically looted into your bag. This idea would also eliminate bag clutter as the bags would stack just like regular material loot bags, allowing you to open them whenever you wanted so you don’t waste time selling a bunch of blue/greens after every 2-3 fights. Finally if you have no room for anymore bags, then and only then would the bags of loot drop on the ground the same as they do now.
If that idea doesn’t work, then maybe it would be easier to reduce the amount of bags that drop by auto-looting Badges of Honor and not putting them inside bags, so that if a bag were to drop from a player with ‘only’ Badges of Honor, then no bag would actually drop and you’d just get the Badges sent to your bag. This would give people a way to choose not to loot junk but still get all the Badges of Honor they deserve.

1. 2x Weapons – 20 Skills
2. D/D – I don’t have to waste time targeting people!! \o/
3. Perma-Vigor, Perma-Swiftness, Perma-Healing
4. The class feels extremely skillful and rewarding to play with uber keyboard micro.
5. Cantrips, Cantrips, Cantrips
I still use the 0/10/0/30/30 build, i am unable to change one thing on it without being unhappy and reverting back. :P
