Click your server up the top, and you can see all the Meta events happening, when they will happen, or when their window is. This way you can grab a rare or two per event for the day, then switch chars and do it again.

I really miss Cursed Shore too man, i seriously consider myself lucky to have played when people were there. Farming meta events is all i can find to do in Open World now.

Hi, i play both classes

If your enemy is running Corrupt Boon, save Armor of Earth (if you run it), until either he uses it, or you have more than 5 boons up, otherwise your stability will turn into fear and you will take crap loads of damage.

Use your water switch effectively, like for instance when you get feared, then you can proceed to cleanse up the other conditions like poison which you NEED to cleanse if you want to get an effective heal off.

Stacking conditions on a Necro is sometimes better for him than yourself, putting useless bleeds/vulns on him will allow him to consume them for a bigger heal, take this advice however you wish.

Churning Earth is rly only effective on bad necros, they can easily access a fear to stop you casting, if not then they’ll just go into death shroud in order to soak the damage if you even manage to land it on them with or without a lightning flash. If you’re gonna use it, it needs to be after their 2 fears are used.

Chain all your CCs in a team fight, necro’s weakness is being CCd and focused, they have minimal escapes so if you have a team mate with you, CC him while others tear him apart.

Vigor. D/D ele’s have perma vigor, dodge roll all marks that are layed down if the necro doesn’t simply lay them on top of you.

Train him, if you’re any good with a keyboard, train the crap out of him and do not stop harassing him like you should on any other class so that it’s harder for him to land targeted attacks and AoEs on you. Necro’s aren’t blessed with infinite PBAoE.

Ether Renewal.

Get him out of Death Shroud as soon as possible, most necro builds such as the 30/30/10 build have slow Life Force regen, so with the little time they’re given in Death Shroud, eat it up ASAP starting with CC. It may end DS before they are able to cast shackle.

Don’t play so predictable, D/D ele is one of THE most predictable classes next to heartseeker thieves. Sometimes on my necro i see D/D ele’s using the exact same rotation that i use, and i can tell you it makes shutting them down so much easier.

Don’t bloody step into Spectral Wall, it fears you, hopefully you know this by now. Also if you see him cast it behind you, dodge away from it becoz he could be about to fear you into it.

You’re probably going to have to prioritize them over other classes if you want to keep your boons and have the least amount of conditions spammed onto you. Leave a necro alone and your conditions will be stacked and boons stripped.

That’s all i can give you.

So, the formulas presented by Ascii show numbers based on the Wiki formulas, yet in-game Blaine’s testing indicates that Torment’s formula is simply bleeding*0.75.

They did say that torment would be 75% of bleeding damage while immo. So what is with the Wiki’s formula?

@Ascii I played 30/30/30/30/30 for ages before the patch, and it’s just no where near the 30/30/10 Xomfire condition spike build in terms of super effectiveness.

I reached the highest rank in tPvP with it and even the CEO of ArenaNet and NCSoft awarded me with the META of the Century Award.

Also if you knew anything about Necromancers, you would know Rifle is useless in tPvP, the meta is pistol. I have a double degree in Meta-ology and Necromancy.

Ye Gabi that all went through everyone’s heads when they read that too :P but some people are just really picky about their playstyle but still want everything with no trade offs.

I think the best thing for Zenith to do at this point is to test different traits for power necro, then he will see that he’s not locked into dead set choices. I mean the new SR GM trait practically molds a lot of power necro builds now xD

I dunno man i haven’t really had your problem, 3-4 static fields sounds like it’s a 100v100v100, we don’t get many of those on Sea of Sorrows.

If i was a dev, i’d probably explain that it would be unfair that a class meant for boon stripping can turn other classes stability into fear while applying it to themselves with ease.

I’d love to have perma vigor/might/swiftness/prot/regen/fury like my ele too, but that’s just not necro like.

Ok then um, if you’re running away from a zerg does it really matter if you blow your elite, you probably won’t need it for another 3 mins anyway.

Otherwise Death Shroud is there to soak up any damage you might take while running away. Necros are more about stripping boons than applying them, so it’s only understandable why we don’t have easy access to all the goody boonies, soz.

And that trait is in Soul Reaping, not Death Magic, DM is the crappiest tree, no one uses minions. \(^-^)/

I’ve been playing conditions in sPvP all day since the patch, the more i play the more i see people getting better at dealing with us already.

Zerkers are really easy to pick off, some even die before i leave DS after a combo, but people with proper gear are very fun to verse now.

There are still ignorant people though who think they can still ignore Necros damage and let themselves bleed a ton before doing something about it.

My advice to anyone with extremely strong opinions towards one side of this Necro discussion, is to play the other classes first. Back when i was having trouble with Mesmer, i made one and was blown away by some of their damage potential.

If you consider yourself a good player, which most of you probably do, then you can pick up the other classes easily within a couple hours, and you will have a better perspective of where Necros stand in terms of balance.

I don’t see the use of some seconds Weakness on a 20 second cooldown – you can get weakness from your weaponskills. And lingeringcurses i don’t find that useful – after all you got already 30% condition duration from spite, which is pretty much what most necs with lingering curse had prepatch.

Sadly, yes i don’t use staff right now but the extra immob’ of dagger and the daze of warhorn are nice too.

It’s still a trade off, for many necros, which was my point.

I think the most hardcore buff to fear was to DS3.
When near to an opponent it gets off a fear for 1.5 Sec if you go +100% Fearduration you get 3 Seconds of fear on a 20 (17) second cooldown which isn’t that hard to achieve and even without runes you get +80% from 30/20/0/0/20.
That makes your shortest cooldown-fear also the most dangerous.

Ye the fear is pretty good, but compare 30/20/0/0/20 with 30/30/10/0/0 you have to give up 100 Condition Damage, 100 Precision, Lingering Curses or Withering Precision and Greater Marks.

Now compare pre-patch to now, if my maths if correct, with 80% Fear Duration we’ve gained just 1 second of fear with that skill.

You highlight a good strength, but it’s one that was needed to improve our escaping/defense.

Shroud Stability can be good for casting Signet of Undeath, or simply resing your team mates, it’s not exclusive to shroud stomping.

If you’re gonna put 20 in Blood, you also have the choice of going 20 in Soul Reaping to get Soul Marks, that way you will generate a lot more LF and be able to survive using Death Shroud.

Conditions aren’t meant to be bursty and they’re not, but if you are able to apply many, yes they are meant to get people down, good players spec for cleanse and will CC us as much as they can because that’s our weakness.

We ARE the condition class, if our conditions aren’t feared by other classes, then why have necros in the game. Before this patch other players hardly ever feared going up against a necro, they were more scared of thieves and mesmers. Just wait till people actually learn to play against a necro.

No one is in the position to call anything, especially 1 day after the patch, when 1 class receives this many changes it affects more than just that class.

(sPvP) Anything over 3-4K Life Blast crits would be using zerker gear, having a lot of might, or the enemy wearing zerker gear. Also we actually have to build up our life force, it’s not permanent AA like the AA of a thief etc. Glass Cannon is glassy and cannony \o/ that’s the point.

This patch:

Direct Damage – More consistent, lower CDs, DS nuking relies on being close range and not our Life Force Pool.
Conditions – 2 more dots, better weakness, cleansed less
Life Force – A lot more generation
Class advantages – Turning boons into conditions
Crowd Control – Base fear duration increased, added fear to wall skill.
Defense – Reduced CD, usable in DS
Overall Opinion – Destroys zerkers in sPvP

I just did a bunch of sPvP games with Full Rabid Necromancer Runes 30/30/10 Dhumfire, and omfg people are half health in like 2 secs. I mean i love my wells but this was just soo good, i hardly even look at my utilities because a few attacks and their HP is already gone, i just used watever, signet of locust/wall/WoS.

Conditions just got a whole lot better. Talk about pressure master.

Yeah Reapers Precision is not all that useful, i tested it with my wells build on 5 golems and nah just wasn’t that worth it.

The real question is if we can cast it, then leave DS and use other abilities without interrupting the channel.

Well the other DS abilities don’t let us do this, but if it really is only a 1/4 sec cast time according to the wiki and we can cast it on the ground and leave it, then what you’re asking for will be done easily

Actually Omega just made me realize that it’s probably a ground ability where you cast it for 1/4 seconds then you can move and the ability applies by itself within 600 range of where you cast it.

That seems a lot smarter than casting the dam thing for 3 seconds or something.

Now all that’s left to know is the bloody root duration :P

Well it does say “If enemies move out of range of this ability”
So they would have to run like right away (600 range) if you used it on a cap point in sPvP where it can be used really well, also if they are snared 600 might be too far to run.

But that of course depends on the total cast time, hopefully it’s not something stupid like 4 seconds.

It shows the cast time as 1/4, this seems weird.
If it conditions them repeatedly, does that mean x3 stacks per tick?
Range 600 – Same as Life Transfer, good.
40 sec CD synergies very WELL with WELL builds which got a big buff, so looks good.

Don’t forget Weakening Shroud has a 15 sec Internal CD.

I don’t exactly think it’s the best idea to make entire builds that apply weakness, we get to apply it a lot which i think is why Anet changed it so it’s less underrated and Necros are seen to be more valuable on the offensive support side.

Still, we’ll have to see how valuable it actually is.

In sPvP and WvW i run a Power Targeted Wellmancer with Axe/Focus or Axe/WH, the focus allows for situational boon stripping without the need for Epidemic, otherwise it’s Daze+Swiftness from the WH. I could use dagger, but i would rather kite on a point and support my team with axe vuln stacking. I also spend a lot of time in DS so i can hold points.

My build is 10(V)/20(IV/IX)/10(II)/0/30(VI/X/XII).

Hmm Scepter Dagger and Staff without soul marks aye.

Well, i’ll just give you a bunch of options, you got:

- Both Spectral utilities that grant you LF when taking damage, but they are both on a CD so it’s not reliable reliable.
- Scepter 3 which leaked notes say is going to 3% per condition
- Staff 1 which notes say is going to 4%, not sure if it adds 4% per enemy hit i never tested it.
- Deaths, which may or may not include the little jagged horror from Death Magic 5, i dunno i never tested it.
- Reaper’s Precision 33% chance to gain 1% on crit mmmmm not that reliable for Scepter/Dagger but it’s there.
- Spectral Attunement grant LF on use, again not that reliable being on CD.

Can’t be bothered looking for more :P that is what i remember from the Curses/DM5/SR tree without Soul Marks. :P

A lot of the cap points in sPvP are the same size as the Greater Marks :P so you can deny access to a point just by laying down some marks, otherwise they can dance around your little weeny mark and still be inside the cap circle heh.

Also i live in Australia, so getting a non-greater mark on a running player with our latency is not the easiest thing. :P

WvW, having a bunch of necros with greater marks spammed all over an area or pasted all over the walls of a tower to stop aoe from above is extremely intimidating and painful, imagine if they were all itty bitty circles, they wouldn’t reach very far over a tower wall. xD

Many of the uses for marks do not fall under ‘aiming skills’ though, some do but not all, many rely on the terrain and layout of the map. If an enemy wastes their endurance bar just to evade a mark of blood because the area is too narrow to avoid it, then that’s already indirectly useful since without greater marks the enemy could have just walked around it. We destroy players endurance, imagine how much time it would take to get that evade back with weakness up.

I don’t like being blocked either.

Pretty sure there’s a cooldown in foot in the grave, we were just never able to trigger it fast enough to notice.

If we were never able to trigger it fast enough, how do you know there’s a cooldown xD, the Wiki says nothing, and Furious Demise has no ICD. :P

Doesn’t matter anyway, the idea is ruined \o/

And ye, about the actual change, hurts abit, but 7 seconds isn’t too bad, if you’re getting thrown around so much that you need to pop DS every 5 seconds to survive then i’d like to see where your LF regen is coming from because it’d be pretty impressive. :P

I love my 5 sec DS, but a lot of the time it isn’t that needed in PvP, unless you go full zerk or something. I even switch to 10 sec CD specs to see the difference and i really don’t notice it that much, i think i’ll be ok with 7 secs if i am able to crit for 2-3ks in DS constantly.

Also Well specs don’t have to go 20 into Curses anymore, but then that crit chance was pretty nice. I dunno yet.
