So annoying xD, everyone has to wait until the icons are gone to leave the instance.
Thanks for posting it sooner. o/
It’s not monopolized to MM Necro’s whoever thinks that, i always ran 0/30/20/20/0 in WvW for zergs, so my spec did not change at all in that mode.
I WANT TO PLAY SUPER ADVENTURE BOX AGAIN!!!! T__________T
Hehe, i was doing the Southsun Survival thingy and my damage was pretty crappy, then i realized i had no traits xD hahaha
0/0/0/0/0 ftw \o/ !!
Ye Master of Terror was and is my first option too, i find this build to be a very balanced build in terms of survivability and damage. The only play style change i have made since the patch is making sure i burn any blocks that i see on people before applying fear.
(edited by Tobbygnome.6793)
(sPvP) After some testing, i don’t really feel like going 20 into DM to get Gmarks, i’m ok with having a range exactly between 120 and 240.
The build i am comfortable with atm seems to be 30/20/0/0/20 with Dhuumfire, Terror, and either Soul Marks or Master of Terror.
It is nice to be able to generate more LF with a condy build using Soul Marks but then the Spectrals may be sufficient enough for that, as well as going 20 into SR provides more LF gen already and a free Spectral Armor at 50% HP.
What do you think? How did the Gmarks switch change your build? Will you still grab it? Or will you ignore Dhuumfire completely for Foot in the Grave?
Please discuss which condy builds you find yourself comfortable with after the patch, i have a feeling a lot of builds will in-fact change.
Tobby
Wait you’re meant to do it in a group? I thought it was just solo, ye t1 and t2 are fine.
Well >< how likely is it that you fear someone without a condition on them.
In HotM @ 1306 Condition Damage
Burning – 654
Terror – 964/641
Yep, tested it under the same conditions in HotM, it works there.
Which dungeon is this?
That’s a joke btw :P
It is illogical to totally ignore class balance in WvW, but to have it as the focus for such clutch gameplay balances is also illogical. Now i am pretty much just paraphrasing my own and Bhawb’s recent posts.
That is all i can add to this discussion, enjoy.
You are correct, however my post has nothing to do with that. My one and only point is that WvW is not a controlled PvP environment, it is a battlefield with unbalanced group numbers fighting each other with or without siege in or out of towers using level 1-80 characters and wearing any assortment of gear in the game.
This is not the correct environment to base judgements of class balance off. You said you have no idea whether or not this is considered ok in sPVP, as far as i know, it has been unmentioned.
To add, yes if something is so undeniably broken in WvW that it needs to be changed on a class, it will be, but not insignificant and strictly minor issues like a spell being 1/2 a second too long in cast time.
(edited by Tobbygnome.6793)
WvW is not balanced around that type of play, this is why ‘Structured PvP’ exists. Please don’t critically analyze class balance based off a battlefield game mode.
Debuffs are our thing, keeping them up on as many targets is what we do.
Classes can spread AoE Protection to allies, so we can spread AoE Weakness to enemies.
There IS a marginal risk in using it, ever noticed that when you use it around a lot of enemies, 5 giant links come out of you like you are an alien spaceship? Ye that can be intimidating, i’ve noticed, more often so in WvW, that as soon as i use Shackles in a group/zerg i often times get instantly CCd, targeted or even focused.
Hi Erebos, i just read the topic post, it is very insightful.
I also dislike this mechanic, i even abuse it sometimes by keeping people downed as long as possible so they can never res or respawn, until their massive heals kick in and i am forced to stomp them.
I agree that nothing about Downed State requires any skill or thought, it’s simply trolling, they might as well rename it to Trolling State. Once i tried stomping a thief that tele’d away, then smoke bombed, then tele’d away again, after that i thought ‘Why am i forced to waste time with this? This is not fun for me, i got that guy to 0 HP’.
I doubt ArenaNet will ever remove it, not even just for sPvP, but dam being a class with a build that can’t ensure a stomp is unsatisfying in a 1vx.
PS: I am from Adelaide too o/ it is quite cold and rainy atm isn’t it :P i love rain tho.
Wow, yep, tested it several times on Necro in HotM using Poison on myself and healing with Well of Blood and Signet of the Locust.
Without Poison: Well of Blood – 5296/174, Signet of the Locust – 789
With Poison: Well of Blood – 5296/174, Signet of the Locust – 789
Poison was never removed prior or after the heal was cast. Pretty disappointing.
Well then i’m going to have to agree with Stuwy on this one, yes they should increase the rewards for winning, not that i care much about PvP skins and i’ll still always be going for the objective because i’m not a selfish player.
But there’s obviously a problem there i agree, it’s almost like those Private WoW Servers where everyone already has the best PvP gear so they just go to Battlegrounds to boost ego from kills and not actually care about the objective. That’s a horrible thing to have happen to a Live MMO.
If dueling was in the game, do you think the people who own those ‘dueling servers’ would have a need to buy them to use with their friends in the first place? Maybe ‘Yes’ for the public appeal, but more likely ‘No’ is my guess.
Either way, would that mean more Custom Arenas not centered around dueling, quite unlikely, there would still need to be more appeal for them other than simply ‘not being a dueling server’.
My problem is only that zerging (not focusing on objectives) give you more glory
Arenanet gives a bad exemple
and twist the purpose of winning a match
Hmm, i actually never cared enough to notice how much Glory you got from winning/losing against the amount from the leaderboard. Do you really get more from zerging+losing than capping+winning?
I enjoy winning matches, it is the objective of the game after all. I’m not super happy though that other players couldn’t care less about the objective, but a lot of people go into Hotjoin matches with different objectives of their own.
Whether it is try their hardest to win the match, try their hardest to top the scoreboard, kill players for fun, try out a new build, try out a new class, etc, \o/
HotM does allow for a very sandboxy environment, i can recall many times where i’ve gone into Hotjoin just to try some new combo or skill or build out, even a new class just for the fun of it. That’s what it’s there for, but at the end of the day i’ll always be back on my mains capping those points.
Hehe ye i found ‘The Legend’ from a WvW kill, everyone was like ‘MAKE YOUR LEGENDARY!!’ so i looked at Bitfrost and instantly sold the precursor for 600 gold lol. Then bought Final Rest. ^^
Ye, i kno wat u mean Bweaty, the ‘Play Now’ button has given me some bad matchups too :P but i think that’s just because eventually all high rank players switch to teams with other high rank players until the winning team looks like this (30,24,40,28,13,8) and the losing team looks like this (8,11,3,1,5,20) in terms of rank.
You kno wat i mean :P but overall i have luck joining matches with 1 less than the total player limit, for instance 9/20 for a 5v5 and 15/20 for an 8v8. Then i get the last slot.
If this game had enough PvPers, wouldn’t rank brackets be a lot of fun, Rank 1-9, 10-19, 20-29, etc. for a match making system. Then at least, the server browser could be filled exclusively with Custom Arenas which would display them to the public easier, instead of being shoved at the bottom below all these ‘Server 117’s.
It’s only 4.5 stacks of bleed on a 40 sec base cooldown
The Immo. is dodged fairly frequently due to the very obvious binding link between me and my enemy.
It is a good ability, it is a fun ability, it is not an overpowered ability.
Really? I’m from South Australia and my Latency is around 230-260ms , around the same as WoW latency.
Whether the game is designed around team play is not the discussion here, because we already know that it is and there’s no debating it.
How do you know that the goal of PvP is teamplay? Intuition? ESP? Is it philosophical? I’m sorry, but all I’m seeing is two valid styles of gameplay.
I know that the goal of PvP is teamplay because when i went into my first ever PvP match i was told the goal of PvP is to capture and hold points with your team.
lol, geez, i didn’t say 1v1 wasn’t possible or it was a stupid idea and shouldn’t be in the game, it just currently isn’t in the game. I would love to see 1v1, then i could destroy people very hard without being hindered by clones, minions and spirits and people would go to the class forums all day to QQ that my class isn’t balanced in 1v1.
But would ArenaNet like that?
That’s just how Guardians are :P they fart and boons come out hahaha xD
A lot of the custom servers in CS are run by either clans, websites, companies or communities and allow for more customization than the vanilla game with the addition of mods and plugins. Custom Arenas in GW2? I don’t really see the draw, might as well let them do what they want with the server they payed for.

The question made by the OP is ‘Why is there no dueling?’ and the answer to that would probably be because Anet developed the pvp around team play so dueling most likely didn’t come to mind as a needed feature upon release.
If they did put dueling in, it would most likely be a HotM feature, not a game-mode, and it’s purpose would be purely for fun, learning your/enemies class skills, testing things, friendly competition.
That is it.
Are you level 1 in WvW, how the hell do you let 13k-20k damage worth of meteors hit you without moving. Damage hurts, if it didn’t, there would be no Area Denial.
Being a donkeyhole aside, do you understand how it works now, 10K is the final damage of the entire spell added up, it’s accumulative. Korean MMOs \o/
It’s just the way the game is, if you lower evades then burst classes will have a much smaller counter, just think of a thief lunging at you with heartseeker below 50%, and your next evade is miles away. Dodging is a way for ALL classes to avoid burst, not just the ones that have block or multiple burst healing skills or stealth or watever.
I think OP means we should lower everything.
Less 1-hit kills, less evade spam, slower pace with more complex mechanics. Or at least reduce AI swarming with some classes.
And effects should be easy to read and not so invasive at the same time.
Ye but that is asking a lot from Arena Net, it would take massive balancing to slow down every mechanic to the point where its not a spamfest.

I like the idea of “Unevadable” effects, maybe even given to certain CCs or Traits that apply it to some skills. There’s ‘unblockable’, yet there’s more evading than dodging in the game.
I think the endurance regen is ok atm but Vigor is pretty dam powerful, thank god i play a necro with weakness.
Also increasing cast times may cause massive frustration, look how many CCs there are in the game, you are literally CCd most of the time, how are we meant to get off longer cast times. It may be ok for Mr.Guardian but not all classes have easy access to stability. Not to mention after that all instant attacks will become overpowering.
I know how you feel though and i do agree that the game is really clunky and spammy in PvP, it’s fun in PvE but PvP doesn’t allow for much skillful play, but there’s a lot of reasons why that is and it’s not just tied to dodging.
I still like GW2s PvP in the way that we can’t use addons and aren’t given data of how many Hit Points enemies have, what they’re casting, what their cooldowns are and all that bullkitten, it’s all very unpredictable and exciting gameplay.
This is GW2 now, it’s an Action MMO style game, so A LOT would have to be done to slow down the pace of the game in a ‘good’ way, and then this would change PvE as well unless you make the changes ‘PvP only’ which wouldn’t make sense because then sPvP would be entirely different from the main game. Point is, it’s the way the games made that determines the pace.
How do you keep illusions/turrets/minions/etc to a minimum?
Edit: He said just don’t use them
(edited by Tobbygnome.6793)
Grab some Koi Cakes while ur at it, 40% Condition Duration is yummy food o/
I have held onto my growing 65 Laurels and 30 Guild Commendations because i can’t really bring myself to buy any Ascended Jewelry.
I don’t like Fractals so i don’t need the agony res, but other than disliking Ascended items i want to be sure that i won’t need to use either Laurels or Guild Comms on the NEW Ascended Weapons and Armor which ‘might’ be more of a jump from Exotics to Ascended than the jewelry is.
Besides the latest blog post from Anet, do you guys know if they have said anything about using Laurels/Guild Comms to buy the new Ascended Weap/Armor, or will they be made ‘purely’ by crafting and i can safely use my currency on jewelry and won’t ever regret it. Or should i just wait and find out.
Thanks o/,
Tobby
I don’t see how it promotes rage quitting, you can already rage quit with Alt + F4.
A lot of people ‘against’ /resign are probably remembering in LoL where people concede as soon as the first tower goes down which is just silly, and that’s understandable.
The people ‘for’ /resign probably see it in a different way, from an e-sports point of view where forfeit is a basic function in any game where the requirements for a fair match are not met, and the match can be thrown to avoid wasting time.
It would depend on what your prior experience with forfeiting in games is that determines your opinion about it, but that may be the fault of those games, which leads to the idea that if a /resign feature were implemented in GW2 it would have to be done so perfect that abusing it would be almost unheard of.
2. I agree, but it’s easy, quick laurels if you need them before the reset.
3. This is fairly common, and there have been very few matches where the score ends within 100 points for me. That is why i like to play 5v5 because i can truly make a difference by playing smart and actually capping points which a lot of people neglect, which is fine because it’s not tourney play so people are just having fun.
4. Server Browser i would think, that was there for public games before tourneys.
6. That’s how it is in sPvP ego-land, i actually wish it was like WoW where you couldn’t talk to each other in map chat, but there’s not really any Lore deciding that is there.
7. Thieves are thieves, they will ‘steal’ your fun at low rank, but they get easier to deal with later on.
It gets better my friend, back in release i had a lot of trouble finding a proper build in sPvP with my 2 main chars. But when i did, the whole game instantly became fun, you have to know that sPvP is very different than WvW.
Unfortunately, we can’t change the community’s behavior which is why i cant stand playing more than a few matches at a time. Just play for fun and take sPvP as what it is, just a distraction from the main game like you said. If you can ignore the horrible community then go ahead and do tourneys.
You can do Well of Blood + Transfusion, i understand what you’re saying though, but putting just a ‘heal area’ healing skill in will have to be balanced with Well of Blood. As it is now you need to go into the Blood tree to get significant healing which isn’t even that great overall.
Hmm, well what would Anet do, there’s currently x3 heals and x4 corruption/signet/spectral/minion/well utilities. It might be too much to add 1 utility to each type, but they could be adding them over time to keep fresh content. Then there’s the possibility of a NEW utility type, something like Auras.
This could mean Permanent or Temporary Vampiric Auras, Thorns Auras, Minion Summon Auras, Boon Stripping Auras, Condition Transfer Auras, DHUUMFIRE+TERROR AURAS (loljks).
fun
We don’t actually have any pets, we have minions instead.
It seems most of the people in this thread like Power Well builds over Utility Well builds in WvW so i’ll give my input on that.
When i did run Power Wells for the time that i did, i went into SR tree because i wanted my DS to be up as much as possible and to do the most damage. This was because i wanted decent burst damage when my Wells were on CD, so my build i guess was a DS/Well build you could say.
I didn’t really see the point of specing purely for Wells alone because they last 5 seconds, so the rest of my build was aimed at keeping consistent filler damage. This works the exact same way with my Condition based Well build in that even though i used many Well traits, my conditions in between were still fairly top notch with 95% bleed duration, full rabid gear and condition duration weapons/food.
Going back to the power build, axe and dagger are both pretty average in WvW, so i went with DS damage for my filler, DS synergizes with wells and is power based, so ye.
(edited by Tobbygnome.6793)
10 in Blood is definitely going to be Transfusion if you want to be really useful to your zerg, 20 in Blood will give you 20% Well CD Reduction, if that’s a selling point for you then yes you need 20 in blood.
From an global point of view, points can be shifted around these three trees to fit what you prefer and what you are willing to sacrifice. Starting with a 0/10/10/10/0 and working out what you really want is the best way to make your preferred build for a Support Wellomancer.
Wells can either be used with power for their damage, or condition damage for their utility. A solid Zerg vs Zerg build will be condition based and utilize wells for support much like my 0/30/20/20/0 build, with well/staff reduction and life transfer heals.
If you want a power based build then it’d be best to go down the SR tree for 100% crit, but be warned if your wells aren’t placed properly, your main damage CDs are pretty much gone for around 40 secs.
With a condition build, the wells are there for utility, but your conditions still allow 1000s of damage to tick away every second from the back of the group keeping more consistent pressure.
Both builds are satisfying to play, both tag players fairly well for bags, both combo well with DS 4,5, and both have their own very fun to play elite skills.
The stability can be stripped from you.
Seeing someone use a small mark is like finding out they have a small thingy
Ohhhh ohh, there’s too much AoE in WvW?
Then kindly remove Arrow Carts and give us Greater Marks \o/ !!!
Problem Solved!!
