What if the range didn’t work the same as Ele Staff #1 (which i find a very poor splash anyway). What if it was increased to a point where it made sense.

I don’t know about you guys but i find the ‘Pierce’ mechanic to be very clunky and unrewarding most of the time. Mobs have to be either in a line or directly next to each other or very close behind each other and you gotta target the furthest mob away to get the projectile to travel the longest and blah!!

Point is, pierce is annoying and clunky to setup. Do you think the trait would be more fun and rewarding if it was changed to splash damage instead of pierce. For those who don’t know, splash means to also damage mobs around your target in a set radius.

That way, instead of a cleave, the Power Necromancer would now have an ensured way to damage multiple grouped enemies, and wouldn’t need to keep asking ArenaNet for a cleave weapon.

It may also make Necros a more attractive class in PvE, with their ability to apply constant AoE vulnerability and damage in Death Shroud. If you think it would do too much damage, the secondary targets could get hit for less (like Howling Blast in WoW) while still applying vulnerability.

You have to practice man, you can’t just become daphoenix over night, it takes time to learn raising your APM. Rangers auto attack everyone, they don’t really cast much else.

Greater Marks

The old marks were 120, the traited are 240, 180 is half way between them, so they are indeed much larger, they are in fact 50% larger. Am i feeling just fine with 180 radius? Yes, it’s more than enough for me when i run 30/20/0/0/20, even when i switch builds and use Gmarks, i hardly notice the difference.

You must adjust, you will adjust, if you’ve used Gmarks the entire time up until now only to start using smaller marks for “a few days” then it deserves more practice.

Ok, just a thought, if Dhuumfire was replaced with something like Torment on crit, would people still go for 30/20/0/0/20 instead of to 0/20/20/0/30 or 0/30/20/0/20.

Because if Dhuumfire gets reworked to something that still benefits condy builds as well as hybrids, i think i would still go for 30 in spite for the Condition Duration, granted the new GM trait is worth it’s weight.

I run dhuum, because 30% condition duration makes fear last 100% longer with Nec runes, adding more ticks to terror.

Ye i used it on a thief just b4 and i teleported down some stairs weirdly enough only to see the thief just come out of stealth under the stair case. It’s extremely unreliable and clunky but it has it’s place.

Hopefully since we got both dhuumfire and terror nerfed people will stop complaining and leave necros alone lol(never want to be called fotm again for killing someone, i played nec since launch and only now are people calling me that).

Ye man i hope people will shutup now too, i played Necro since release too and after 1 year all of a sudden my class is considered ‘Noob’, ‘OP’ and ‘takes no skill to play’.

Every map has a secondary mechanic, Temple – Communes, Kyhlo – Treb, Foefire – Lords, Capricorn – Cannons/Sharks, Spirit – Orb, Skyhammer – Skyhammer,
Forest – THE CHIEFTAIN HAS RETURNED!!

This map is a favorite for a lot of people, it would be stupid to change the mechanics of such an original map at this point in the game. By now i can pretty much anticipate their respawn.

The fix that is coming is in consideration of the time that we had to complete it. We are planning to rework some things when we have more time, but felt this would be sufficient for now, considering the first Qualifying tournament is tomorrow.

I found it, the quote above from Allie in the other thread should be reassuring that this is not the end to Dhuumfire changes.

I like the idea of max damage taken in DS matching the DPS of a glass cannon so it only affects 1vX, i also think they shouldn’t have added an ICD to Spectrals.

The reason this is such an issue is because with some specs it can take a fair amount of time to reach a large amount of LF let alone 100% LF, then when you go into DS and get CC and bursted down to 0% all your ramp up survivability just gets wasted and you’re literally open with no access to Doom, a teleport or shackles < all of which can help escape.

Personally I would like to know Anets plans for increasing LF gen across Main Hand weapon skills, which they said they would do but not too quickly. I started to use Warhorn again instead of Dagger in my condy build because with a lot of enemies around me it generates sustainable LF.

They purposely changed Spectral skills to work in DS, the tooltips have not been changed yet.

So correct me if i’m wrong. As it is, 30% Conduration will give 2.6 seconds of burning with 2 ticks of burning. PvE is 5.2 with 5 ticks. So a 60% nerf to the amount of burning damage within 10 seconds. To get 3 ticks requires 50% Conduration, making it only a 40% nerf.

It seems almost the same after this patch, maybe they reduced the duration by a smige.

Edit: “Dhuumfire: In competitive PvP only, burning duration caused by this trait has been reduced from 4 seconds to 2 seconds. Burning duration is still 4 seconds in other areas of the game.”

Chillbains + Putrid Mark combo proc?

When Chillblains activates you will see a white circle on the ground with a puff of poison smoke for a very short time. If you then blast Putrid Mark in that region, it will then combo it and they will get Area Weakness.

As far as my testing shows, the middle of Putrid Mark must be inside the combo field for it to blast.

Hello, i’d like to report a small annoying bug that occurs in sPvP. I’ve only tested this in Hotjoin on my Necromancer so far but when i enter a match with a signet slotted, the signet buff icon is missing and the buff is not given, forcing me to switch the signet out and in again every time i enter a new match.

I know the buff isn’t being given because when i used Signet of the Locust i do not have any +25% movespeed, but then i get it when i re-slot the signet.

It’s just a bit annoying to keep doing this every match :P and i wouldn’t want it to cause any confusion for new players.

They are not the same thing, grenades are projectiles, marks are placed strategically to provide area denial so an instant activation time would ruin the entire mechanic. Alternatively if they activated 1 second after being touched then someone could just walk over and off them to destroy them, staff would be useless in both scenarios.

Now compare the cooldowns of Marks vs Grenades in regards to wasting them:
Marks – 6/20/25/40
Grenades – 5/10/20/25

@Drarnor Kunoram, chill on blind is a niche tactic to keep people snared inside Wells with Well of Darkness, switching it around like that may ruin that niche for some.

What if they reduced the % chance to proc in order to still allow for somewhat reliable chill uptime without having to completely trait/equip for it?

That would seem logical, but then it would seem like more of a curses trait and might not be worth getting as a condy, as well as it may be too similar to the Chill on Blind trait that’s already in the curses tree.

That’s just my opinion, i see it being a very hard trait to fit in there properly.

Hmm, you may find more survivability going 20 into SR tree, Blood Magic just like that kind of lacks if you don’t build around leeching. 20 in SR gives you a free Spectral Armor at 50% hp and either longer fear or LF gen on marks.

Also 25 in Curses is not that great, anything that is +% Damage, counts only towards direct damage and not condition damage.

To be honest, though, isn’t this what the necro needs? A strong way of slowing down combat, drawing it out into an attrition fight where our tools can actually do their work? Chill does nothing to help you reduce burst, but if you survive that burst, well, you punish them greatly for it before they can attempt it again.

The thing is, we do have it, but it requires a specific setup of runes/sigils/traits/weapon sets. My point was that achieving the same thing with just 1 trait would be too cheap, and i doubt Anet would give us such passive access to almost constant chill.

LF a Support Necro Build

I run a support build in WvW, but it is balanced between offense and support.

0/30/20/20/0 Chill on Blind/Targeted Wells/Terror, Staff Mastery/Gmarks, Transfusion/Well Reduction.

Full Rabid, Giver’s Weapons, Condition Duration food.

Scepter/Dagger(or Horn)/Staff, WoB/WoC/WoD/Spectral Wall/Plague.

If you want more support, change Terror to 30 in DM for Protection on wells, and use healing power. This is purely for WvW though, no idea what i would use for PvE.

Constant chill atm requires many skills to land and a few traits to be taken to make sure constant up-time is achieved. To have 1 trait that achieves all this passively would make it too easy to slow down the enemies pace of combat via constant hard snare and especially recharge time increase.

If people want a counter to Stealth in tPvP, why not implement the mechanic that allows a person to walk over a buff that gives them the ability to see stealthed players for a short amount of time. The Reveal buff

Your team could choose who is the best choice to pick it up, whether it be a Necro who can spam the other team with marks and feel safer or another AoE capable class.

You guys know what i’m talking about.
