You know this is kind of funny and kind of along the same line, but while making this post, apparently I have come across a guild vs guild in W vs W.

I had no idea this was a thing.

I’m standing on a hill along with people from other servers just watching.

Were not fighting but there sure is a big battle between guilds.

I know there is a way to do it, because others have whispered me.

Maybe it should be hard, because it could be abused.

Having said that, I have never got a abusive whisper. The few times that I got one was either positive or just asking about my build.

I guess the point is, just because they are on another sever and there job is to kill you, doesn’t mean they are jerks. They are just someone like you….playing the game.

I’m talking about whispering to an adversary from a different server. I know it can be done but not sure how to do it.

I bring this up because every now and then, something would happen and I would like to say well done, thanks, or just pay some kind of respect.

Today, I was flipping camps. As I got near, I could see that another person from a different server was already engaging. I thought WTH and joined in. Well after we killed everything, of coarse we had to fight.

It was decent battle, but he was better than me and I died. Instead of him dancing over my dead body, he bowed in respect. Well that made my day. I wanted to show my respect as well by bowing or saluting, but being dead, I couldn’t.

So basically, I just wanted to whisper thanks for the fun and fair play. That kind of attitude really makes the game pleasurable.

When I first started reading this thread I thought…….ah a kindred spirit…….someone in the same demographic as me.

With all do respect to Tumult, ( everyone is entitled to a opinion and he was not rude or disrespectful ) about the only thing I agree about is the average age of gamers is going to continue to rise.

Here’s a link…

http://www.aarp.org/research/topics/technology/info-2016/electronic-gaming-research-adults-50plus.html?cmp=RDRCT-PRI-OTHER-TECHNOLOGY-042816

With that in mind, and from what others have already said, I’m not sure dumbing down GW2 would be the way to go. Maybe that’s not quite the way to say it, but some seniors do what challenging content. I’m not one of them but that’s fine.

That fact is there is plenty of content that do like. Sure there are a few things that I will never get.

If you spend any time on this forum at all, its clear that the people that plays this game is all over the place from hardcore to casuals, not just young and old.

Overall, I think they have done good job to try to accommodate everyone. Its impossible to please everyone.

Sure you can say they should concentrate on one type of player, but that’s a business thing. As to what is most profitable……well I don’t know.

I’m guessing this has been brought up before.

And this is not a major problem but it sure would be nice if….

When you right click on a given recipe, it would not only tell you about the character that you are playing at the time, but all of your characters on your account if they need it or not.

It would save so much time and hassle.

Again, not a big deal but it would be nice.

Dailies no longer geared towards casuals?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tom.6478

Tom.6478

First I have no complaint about the current dailies even though I’m just a PVE guy that’s not all that good. Getting 3 is not that hard ( usally 2 will be a vista and foraging… easy and quick )….even if the 3rd one is 4 events on a given map. It might take a little time but very doable…. 15 mins tops for that one.

But reading through this, the PvP thing caught my interest

I really suck at PvP and I don’t want to let down my team and worse, being called out for that.

I had no idea there was a daily thing where the idea was not to be good, just tag and die. Who would have guessed.

Anyhow I tried it….even at that, I guess I screwed up. Someone said to me something about C camps. They didn’t call me an idiot or anything, just told me to stop. I was only following another person and had no idea I shouldn’t do that.

I guess what I’m trying to say is even though its easy, there is still a learning curve.

Just in case anyone ever wondered

If you go full celestial and divinity with acended armor, weapons and trinkets…these are the stats.

Celestial gives you roughly 30% more stat points across all attributes. I’m not trying to say this is ideal by any means, just that this is what you would have if you are trying to max every attribute.

The fact that you can get the shield from the mystic forge is a separate issue even if someone had knowledge of this before it happened. From what I have read so far, getting one is pretty much as hard as getting precursor, so there is no real threat to the supply at least from that.

These things dropped just 3 months into the game, with 100 more thanks to the raffle 2 years later….and that’s it. Sure when they first dropped you could buy them for 20g to 50 gold. That was a lot of gold back then….precursors sold pretty much for the same at that time.

Why would some buy hundreds if not thousands of them, just to hold onto them even when they were selling for 5000 gold. I’m no power trader, but that seems like a poor strategy.

In the past 4 or 5 months, at least 1000 if not much more have put up for sale. I just don’t see an explanation for this without some kind of exploit

Again I could be all wrong, but if some power trader did buy all of these up, he sure did a poor job of maximizing his profits. As it stands now he’s lucky to get 200 gold per shield. The again if he found a exploit, why would he care.

I see John Smith has chimed in here. Unfortunately, it was only obout the mystic forge thing and not about the seemingly limitless skins being dumped darn near everyday. Please chime in again about this and not about the mystic forge thing.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tom.6478

In my humble opinion, GW2 scaling is about perfect. At level 80, I want and expect to have a easier time in low level areas. But I don’t want it so easy that I have no chance of dying.

Why this person is having trouble at level 80 and fully upgraded gear, is beyond me.

I’m a terrible player. My reflexes are so bad, I do not dodge ( by time I realize I need to its too late). My fingers are so uncoordinated, I not only use the mouse for movement, I use the mouse cursor for selecting my skills.

Having said all that, I do just fine. There is almost nothing I can’t do in regular PVE. Certainly a few icebrood elementals won’t slow me down.

On the off chance you ran into that mob near where the Maw meta event starts…..well that could explain it. Few people could take on that group solo.

“If anything its good for the community, not everyones rich enough to pay 5k gold for a skin. I can finally afford it after saving 200 more gold.”

Actually I agree. I bought one for 600 gold and felt lucky to get it at that price.

But I think you will have to admit, if this some kind of cheat, it needs to be stopped.

Otherwise, nothing is sacred and well have all kind of rare things selling for a next to nothing.

ghastly grinning shield skin

And it just keeps going. Someone has an endless supply of these things.

I’m just not buying someone bought hundreds when they first dropped ( and maybe more to explain todays endless supply ) Keep in mind, this was 3 months into the game. Sure, relatively speaking, they were cheap back then. But back then, 1 gold was maybe like 10 gold today.

When ArenaNet did the raffle thing two years later. They knew it was a rare item and wanted to create something fun to try for. And at the time it worked. I know I went for it. They limited the raffle to just 100, a very small fraction from what’s been magically being put up for sale today. If they knew there were hundreds/maybe thousands more out there, I don’t think they would have did the raffle thing.

I just don’t see any explanation of this other than someone has figured out how to duplicate the skin. If they have, that’s why they don’t care if they only get 400G, 300G, or even 200 G. They have a endless supply.

Maybe I’m all wrong, but I predict this will not stop until ArenaNet looks into it, and stops it…………piece.

I kind of hate to renew this thread….everyone has their opinion.

Its been a week, and maybe another 60 or 70 skins has come up for sale. This has happened several times in the last few months. The skins are at a all time low now.

At one time, I too believed it to be the returning player thing, but there have been just too many that has magically appeared for sale.

I can’t think of one thing that once sold for 5000gold and now you maybe as cheap as 400g, or even cheaper. Keeping in mind there is no source of new ones.

Please don’t think I’m trying drive up the price. I bought one at 600g about a month and a half ago, and felt lucky to get it at that price. I only wanted/needed one and will keep it.

I really wish ArenaNet would look at this just incase someone figured out how to hack this. Probably a long shot, but its just too weird not to take a look.

I don’t care what others say…something fishy is going here.

I’ve been watching this for the last few months.

The price has been going up and down. At one time the price was maybe 5000 gold. Then it went down to maybe 1000 gold. Now it goes for 1000 gold down to 500 gold.

Every time the price goes to 1000 gold….suddenly more sellers appear, and price drops.

This shield had a very finite amount to be begin with….yet it seems that more and more get listed….were are they coming from?

Either someone or a few has hoarded them, or and just maybe, someone has hacked this and is dumping them.

Maybe I’m wrong, but if you consider everything, I just don’t understand why so many more keeps showing up for sale.

Maybe you nerd a zerg when there are none… or there are things that need to happen but they don’t.

I’m being kind of vague, but I think most know what I’m talking about.

There too many thing you have no control of. I don’t minds things being hard, but when you have to rely on things you have control of…. well that gets old.

For instance, I was trying for some… any meta event in HoT. Nothing was even close.

I don’t mind doing the whole thing, but if there is not enough people. its not gonna happen.

I know they are working on this….hopfully…it will pan out.

Anyhow…just venting…:)

At first, I too thought it was returning players cashing in. I’m not so sure now.

At one time this thing was selling for 5000 gold.

I’ve been watching this for a month or so and every time the supply gets down to about 100, its jumps back up to 130 or so.

There were not that many out there to begin with ( hence 5000 gold ) and that one time deal only added 100 if I’m not mistaken.

It just seems strange that every few days, another 30 shows up for sale.

I guess its possible that some have managed to buy for say for 500 gold and then try to resell for 700 gold.

Other than that, I don’t know where the new listings keep coming from.

I would be very curious to know just how many there are ( since there should be no new ones since 2 Halloweens ago )…. is there way to find out?

I often have my game up while also having the Dulfy website up in the back ground. I do this so I follow all the many guides he has, switching back and forth to see what I need to do next as far as jumping puzzles or whatever.

Until recently, this was never a problem.

When I do it now, my game lags so bad, I can hardly play. If I close out Dufly, the lag goes away. My connection has plenty of speed and should be able to handle a video and my game with ease.

Is this happening with all people or just me? If its just me, any clues on how I can fix this?

A Guide to the Casual Ranger / Druid

“I am a casual player. I rarely do dungeons or fractals, I do not raid and for the most part, I play solo. I enjoy helping other players, I like to do events and occasional grouping. I do the PvE dailies most days and like to work on various achievements at my own pace. I chose a Ranger/Druid because of the flexibility and survivability the class offers. I almost never die and I keep a lot of other people from dying as well.”

About the only difference between you and me, is I do some W vs W. Mainly for dailies so I can get the badges of honor. That being camp captures, guard killer, and such. Things I can solo.

I have other lvl 80’s, but my ranger is by far my favorite. My build is different than yours but I too rarely die. I can take on large mobs and solo some champions.
I am no pro by any means, but like you my build fits my play style and needs.

Below is my build…. I know some, maybe even most will say this is a junk build, but it works for me and I’m happy with it…….although having said that, anyone feel free to offer suggestions to make it better. As I said I’m no pro and not very good with quick fingers, so keep that in mind.

Help: how to last over 10 secs against elites

Tom.6478

I may be a little bit late to this thread.

But wow I am a almost a mirror image of you, and …yes, I use my mouse to use skills, and even my movement.

Believe me, I’m well aware this is not the optimum way to go.

I have close friends that tell me to practice using the keyboard. But its no use. If you never learned to type when you were young and you are my/your age, that kind of thing may be possible if you want to put in the time, but way more trouble than its worth.

After all, this is a game. We or anyone doesn’t want to make it some kind of chore just to play.

For some or even most, quick fingers are easy, but for someone like me, its just not possible.

Having said all of that. You can still be decent. I can solo camps ( yes I know that’s not that big of a deal, but I enjoy it )….well at least most of the time.

The key for me is the build….and my build is unconventional. No pro would ever use my build. But when you don’t have quick fingers and can’t dodge, you need a different type of build.

I guess what I’m trying to say, don’t rely on meta builds that you see on the net. Those builds assume you do have quick fingers.

I have tried many 5 star builds, and failed with them. I’m sure they are fine builds, but not for someone like me.

My only other advice, buy/craft the very best armor/weapons….and sigils/runes…….by the way having the right sigils and runes can make a huge difference.

All advice here is well intentioned and may even work for you…I hope it does. If not, don’t rely on meta builds, make your own that fits you. You may never be a pro, but you will get by.

I’m trying to convert this to a Tempered Spinal Blade. The thing is that its soul bound to a character that only has 500 crafting in huntsman, not tailor, leatherwork, or armorsmith that apparently you need to be to do this.

If I try to use the mystic forge with a character that is level 500 in tailor, leatherwork, or armorsmith, it won’t let me because its soul bound to the character that is not.

Since my advanced spinal blade is soul bound to my huntsman only character, what if anything can be done????….. and no it has not been transmuted.

I would really appreciate any help here as to what might be done short of starting all over.

I have searched here and elsewhere about this and have found no clear answer. I did find some information that said if you upgrade it, it will become account bound, but try as I might, it won’t let me upgrade.
