Not sure what’s going on, but I did manage to post a picture….thanks to all.

I’m the original OP….and after reading most of this, and mainly people never getting a Precursor, I’m starting to wonder.

Both time times when I got the Venom or Chaos Gun, I just thought they were random exotics. I all but salvaged them. I didn’t need a pistol or trident.

It was only when I checked the price on the TP that I realized they where precursors.

This is what you see…..

Note the light blue text that tells you it can be used to craft a legendary.

The light blue text is so easy to miss….maybe I and many others had no idea…..and salvaged it.

I have tried to do what they say with the BBcode , but it only lets me do a link.

I’m not complaining. I have played from the very beginning.

Today I got my second Precursor….The Venom….a trident….worth about 60G

My first…..Chaos gun…..a pistol…. worth about 240g.

Don’t get me wrong, was very happy to get either one of them.

I just wonder what the odds are to get 2 of the very lesser Precursor’s as opposed to the more desirable ones.

Are the drop odd’s equal, or do the less desirable Precursor’s drop more often?

lol…I look at this 2 ways.

I had got lucky and got it. So I sold it for tiny fraction of what its worth today.

So I get it…its too expensive, but it also sucks when you sell it for one tenth of the price now.

I would like to see the cap removed…..but that’s just me.

What Anet needs to figure out, is the cap increasing player participation, or driving people away.

I’ve read most of this thread. It seems to me that more people are going to play less with the cap…..me included.

There are valid reasons to have a cap. However few people say they would play less if the cap is rescinded. They may hate it, but few have said they will quit because of it.

Again, I get both sides.

Anet needs to decide what will keep the most people playing.

I meant I could do a raid even though I would be lousy at it. There are no prerequisites to do a raid. The worst player in the world could at least try it.

With this current event, Anet has decided some can’t even try.

That’s my complaint.

Thanks for your reply….I don’t mind not getting things that is hard to do….but when they deny you even a chance to try to get them….well that’s frustrating.

Lets face it…. the last instance of HoT is maybe the most complained instance of all. Its just plain hard to do….never got that far, but it seems to be bugged as well.

All I ask, make the current event available to all.

So here is a personal story that’s hard to do even with a group. WTH, didn’t they learn with the last story of the original GW2. Make it solo friendly. Personal story should be just that…..no need for a group.

As said, I paid my money, I should be able to try any content.

I can be the absolute worst, yet I can do raids, PVP, W vs W, jumping puzzles, but not this current event.

I want a refund…..lol

Unfortunately, to have access to this, you need to have competed HoT….specifically the last story mission.

Well, I have done all of the story but the last instance. It’s just too hard for me.

The thing that makes me mad is not that I couldn’t do the last instance, but I’m going to be denied the opportunity to try the new current event mentioned above.

I paid good money for this game and I would have no problem if I couldn’t complete this new current event. All I’m asking is to be given the opportunity to try.

In other words, drop the requirement to having to finish HoT.

I totally agree with OP. I’m not a great player, but I had no problem getting to this last part of the HoT story. Now all of a sudden, the difficulty exponentially increased. I can’t even get past the first boss.

It wouldn’t be so bad but when you die, you lose all progress and the boss health goes back to full. I can’t tell you how frustrating that is. In the past with most other story boss fights, if you died, you at least kept your progress as far as damage goes. Even if you were to lose all your armor, you would eventually beat them.

Frankly, even though I hated it, I got over not being able to complete the last story of HoT.

However….and this really makes me mad…. with this last update, now I find that I will not get to do this

This kind of thing is what I love to do the most, yet I am denied it. I payed good money for this game, yet they are gonna stop me from trying certain content because I’m not good enough to do the last story of HoT.

At the risk of sounding really stupid, I’m not even sure what boons are. When I look at my skills, there is no mention of boons.

Am I missing something? I’m guessing for my build, concentration will be of little use, but then again, that’s why I’m asking.

I understand that it increases boons.

My main is a druid ranger. I only play PVE ( no raids, fractals or even dungeons ) I do not want to be a healer.

I run pretty much run a full celestial build. For how I play the game, this works really well.

My question is…… would adding concentration help me?

I’m guessing no, but I’m no pro…..so I’m asking.

I feel your pain…I got lucky the other night. I joined a leather farm group and did it about 3 times….no boss. I didn’t care anything about getting leather so I was frustrated.

So me and another guy who was trying for it as well found a safe place at the top and on the wall above the entrance where he should spawn.

While there, I heard he spawns every hour as well as it has something to do with the four champions that spawn on the way up. Perhaps its some kind of combination that causes the spawn…..I don’t know.

All I know for sure, after 5 runs, 3 that I participated in, and 2 that I just watched from my safe place…..he finally spawned.

Being the one that started this thread, I wanted the add a couple of things.

First, when I said the story was not important to me, I didn’t mean I did not like playing the personal story or the living story. I may not pay attension to the story itself, but I enjoy doing the story.

It gives me something to do besides just meta events, farming, or whatever. I especially like scavenger hunt type things. As well as getting achievements points and various rewards.

There is so many things to do even when you don’t care about the story.

The second thing I would like to say…..is to give a big shout out to the DreamyAbaddon video.

I have not watched the whole thing, but even for me it was interesting.

As others have said, If there was ever a thing that needs to be a sticky its that video. For people like me or just someone who wants to review what has happened.

How important is the Guild Wars story to you?

I have to be honest, for me I don’t care.

I go back to GW1. I tried to get into the story, but it got too complicated for me. Who’s who and why this or that is happening. Just too many things to keep track of, so I lost interest.

I just played the game and ignored all the dialogue. So now I have no idea WTH is goin on…..lol

But that’s fine, I still enjoy the game. I will say, if I fully understood the entire story, I’m sure that would add to the game.

Anyhow, I’m curious…..are there others like me where the story is not important at all, or is it a must to understand the story?

Still. why is there a reset for the Renown Hearts? I can’t think of anything that that would add to making the game more fun……only frustration.

I don’t know if I should put this in the bug, complaint or living world.

Apparently on the newer maps, Renown Hearts reset each day. This has got to go.

The first day, I did all but one. When I came back the next day, the map screen said I had 3 out of six. Yet if I look at the map, all the hearts were empty…..WTH…..

Now I know some of the earlier new maps required you to do all hearts in the same day for map completion. Yet this seemed to be some kind of a hybrid of that.

I really don’t care if this is some kind of bug or what….you should only have to do the Renown Heart once per character.

The game should be fun, not frustrating….who likes to have to do something over just because they didn’t have time to do it all in one go.

Even though the delay sucks, I’m not mad. Stuff like this happens.

How many of you have said I will have this or that done at a particular time, yet didn’t for whatever reason.

The thing I wish Anet would do, is simply keep us informed. Granted they did do some, but there is no reason why they couldn’t give us a update once an hour with some kind of prediction as to when. They could always include some kind of caveat this is a guess and no guarantee.

They could easily said. We are having a lot of problems and this may well end up being delayed until tomorrow.

Keeping the masses informed with the best information you have at the time will go a long way with peoples expectations as to what might happen. Thus less frustration.

I understand that completely. If you are like me, you play for a diversion where you don’t have to perform at your best, just enjoy a alternate world to explore where you don’t have to worry if you fail.

I am mainly a PVE er and I can only speak for myself, but I suspect there are many just like me.

I don’t like PvP because I’m terrible at it. I’m older than most and I’m just not a good button masher. Even if I was, I really don’t enjoy sitting on the edge of my seat and doing everything just right in a split second.

I fully understand that that is exactly what some like and I’m glad PvP is there for those who like that sort of thing.

As far as WvW, I actually enjoy some parts of it. You can either join a big zerg and just do what you can or kill individual guards, dolyaks, claim monuments or flip camps.

You don’t have be that good to to do any of that. I really think that people that don’t like PvP think WvW is more of the same. It’s not. Sure you might find yourself in a one on one fight or worse, but who cares.

If you die its no big deal. Just resurrect and try again. I have done this a lot, mainly getting the easy dailies in WvW. More often than not, I rarely see any real people, just npc’s.

As far as WvW, I guess what I’m trying to say is you don’t have to be that good to not only contribute, but to get some decent rewards as well as just having fun.

To the OP……I feel your pain.

I’m very much like you. I’m older than most and consider myself a casual player. By that I mean, I do not enjoy or am capable of pushing all the right buttons at just the right time.

Now I’m not saying I just auto attack with the number one skill, but how timely I use the other skills may be questionable.

I don’t even use my keyboard or some fancy mouse. I just use a regular mouse for almost everything. So that tells you just how casual or inept I am….lol

Having said all that, I do seem to have a little more success at some of the things you were describing.

I’m wondering what profession you are playing and ( not so much build ) but how well they are equipt.

As far as profession, if you are not a good button masher, ranger is by far the best. If you go with ranger, choose a melee pet such as a feline or drake. They will not only do damage, but soak up a lot of damage that would otherwise go to you.

Also, with a pet and you’re in one of the HoT maps, just run by the mobs. The pet will attract much of the mobs attacks letting you to just run by them. Very handy to get around.

Back to the equipment. Having the best equipment is almost as, if not more important than the build in general.

If you are capable of crafting ascended equipment then do so. However, exotic is good enough….hell…. even rare can do.

When it comes to armor, make sure that the runes you use are all the same on all five pieces to get the full benefit. Its surprising how many people don’t realize that.

For weapons, make sure you use the sigils slot. Preferable, superior ones. Sigil of fire or air are good ones. There are others that are good as well, just make sure you are using them.

Also, use the best trinkets you can buy, make or get in a lucky drop.

Again, its surprising how many people don’t think to max their armor by using runes, sigils and trinkets.

Now I apologize if you are already well aware of these tips. I certainly don’t mean to talk down to you. But as said, I have run into people that didn’t realise the importance of some of this.

As far as the new areas and especialy, the personal story, I get why you and even me has difficulties. For me, its not the mobs, its that at times you need to do something completely different to complete a given chapter.

Too often you have to do X Y or Z before you can even damage your foe. That can be interesting, but extremely frustrating if you don’t figure it out.

To be honest, I don’t see them making an easy mode. After all, with GW1, they made a hard mode without making normal easier. For me at least, I find general PVE just about right with exception of some of the personal stories.

Ok this was a longer post than I expected. I wish you and your husband well. If you ever see “Born to be Wild” ( me ) in the open world, give me a shout.

If you are not that good by now. Raids and fractals my not be for you.

For general PVE, a ranger with a pet is the way to go if you are not ( and like me ) a good button pusher. A pet will tank and kill, while you stay out of harms way.

Try it, you will like it. You will never be superior, but you will stay alive.

My last post on this, and this is just my opinion, but I can certainly speak for myself. If the achievement cap is not increased, there will be fewer people playing the game.

Frankly it doesn’t matter what I want. Anet needs to figure out what way will keep more players playing.

Will a poll do that?……maybe.

If not a poll…how else do you determine.

I do not care about the leader board. I will never be close to the top.

However, I do like seeing my achievements points increase as I play the game. I also like getting the armor skins that can not be got by any other way.

If they do not increase the max, I will still play, but not as much.

Anet needs to decide what is best for the entire player base.

I for one would like to see the poll, if for no other reason than just pure curiosity of the outcome.

It seems that it is roughly split as for as the people who post here. The thing is, I know many players who rarely even use this site, let alone make a post. Maybe among those people, it could lean one way or the other in a more significant way….I have no idea.

A poll would give a more accurate view of the player base.

This is the only thing I know for sure……

I reached the max about a month ago. Until that time, I rarely missed a day of logging in and doing the daily and more often than not, did a few other thing since I was online anyway.

Now, I only log in about half as much as I did before I maxed out. The 2 gold is nice, but it is not enough of an incentive for me to do the daily, thus I don’t even log in. I would trade the 2 gold for 10 achievement points any day.

I understand others do not a share this view. But I would be willing to bet there many many people out there that are just like me. When they max out….they play less, and fewer people are playing the game.

When you spend less time on a given game, you start to think about getting a different game.

I guess the real question is….how many people will quit playing, or keep playing depending if the max stays or is increased. A poll might answer that question.

I understand there is a cap, but not why it says 1 achievement point if you do it. There is no claim for doing a vista. Just the Halloween thing.

Well it certainly seems that you are correct, but then they need to remove that 1 achievement point from the graphics. Way to confusing.

I have indeed reached the 15,000 cap. ( and that sucks but that’s a whole other story ) And you may be right in that it is the reason for no extra achievement points.

As you can see, Vista viewer offers no achievement points, yet candy craver does. Yeah different than carver but still the same.

Now call me silly, but looking at that screenshot, it certainly looks like you should get 1 achievement point.

Maybe its a bug or something Anent overlooked. Either way it should be fixed.

When I do the daily pumpkin hacker, I get the trick or treat bags and credit for the daily, but no extra achievement point that it clearly shows you should get.

I’m very curious…. should we sell or hang on to them?

All I can say about this whole thread…if you think you need more bag slots…. then you do need more bag slots. It dose not matter why.

Today I was just trying to do dailies and was killing a guard. Two people came up and started fighting. Well I fought back.

I’m not very good so I thought I would die.

Amazingly, I got one person in a down state. But I noticed the other person was not doing anything.

I finished the one person and was not sure what to do next…so I attacked…..lol I quickly died.

I guess what I’m thinking… either both or one wanted to challenge me in a fair fight or not.

Anyhow how do I know how I should react in a situation like this?

I’m a very casual player. Sitting on the edge of my seat and pushing just the right buttons is not my thing. As most know, a ranger may be the easiest to play when it comes general PVE.

Don’t get me wrong, I just don’t auto attack and let my pet do all the work. Then again….sometimes I do…..:) It just depends on my mood and situation. Again, I’m a casual player.

My theory is rangers attract people like me. We know were not the best as far as DPS but we usually stay alive. So its in our best interest to rez, and being casual and not always liked, we enjoy rezzing, especialy when you get a ty or thanks.

People like me just like to play the game, accumulate riches and get a thanks now and again.

When the update for living world three happened, it was easy to see that ley line gliding was important.

I was saving my mastery points not knowing what ones would be most beneficial to me. I thought, ok it was time to spend my precious points on this….So I did.

I later found out you could buy this with out much of an effort. I understand that the Ley Line that can be bought is for only in Bloodstone Fen. Still, had I know this, I may have well spent my few points that I had on something else.

Not really a big complaint, but I wish I had all the facts before I spent 16 points.

What the heck happened to the price?

They were in the 70’s for sometime, now there are below 40 silver. This happened almost over night.

Does it have something to do with the update, or did somebody flood the market?

After logging in and downloading the update, I got this mail.

“Delivery from: Black Lion Trading Company.
Here are the items you purchased. Thank you for your support.”

There were no items. Granted I was expecting any, but what the heck was this about?

I have several stacks of these. I have already made the tempered spinal blades and don’t wish to make any more.

Is there any use for these short of making another tempered spinal blade?

As far as I can tell, they have no other use.
