Maybe they’ll now get around to nerfing content like the first part of the Dredge Fractal, that everyone seems to try to skip. (I’ve seen terrain glitches, mesmer portal glitches, etc.)

It doesn’t need a nerf. The exploit needs to be fixed.

Toxyn.9608

Off the top of my head (Im sure it could be refined):

Make the Mists a central PvP hub for both WvW and sPvP. WvW follows the rules and balance changes applicable to sPvP. Thus, gear is free and equal. WvW players can use the armor and weapon skins obtained through sPvP. These armor and weapon skins would also be available though the upcoming WvW progression system.

WvW map completion would no longer be applicable to PvE due to this change. Badges of Honor would no longer be required to create a PvE legendary.

Platinum Chests would be added, which have a chance of containing a PvP precursor weapon.

PvP legendaries can be forged by combining:
PvP Precursor
Gift of Battle (750 Badges of Honor + Gift of Glory)
- Gift of Glory (Rank 50 Vendor for X Glory)
Gift of the Arcane (250 of each Arcane material)
Gift of Leadership (earn through the upcoming WvW progression system)

It happens in every MMO. Flavorful consumables get nerfed as the game matures and becomes more balanced. Developers really need to be careful with these items before they release their game. >_>

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Toxyn.9608

Good:
AC is somewhat more interesting.
New sPvP map.

Bad:
Can’t start Guild Bounties for three days.
Living Story is still boring. Tasks are very menial and repetitive.
Event Chests limited to once a day.

The entire game seems to be shifting to a Daily/Weekly thing, which is boring.
Overall DR on farming Loot.
Daily fractal chests for Pristine Relics.
Daily achievements for Laurels.
Daily event chests for chance at Precursors.
Weekly guild missions for Commendations.
Monthly achievements for Laurels.

As a PvE player, it is becoming a waste of time to stay logged in after my daily checklist is finished.

Guild bounty hunt Mission

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Toxyn.9608

Toxyn.9608

Sorry for the confusion guys. Here’s the way it works:

  • When your guild activates a bounty mission, it will be displayed in the new missions tab with a list of targets to kill in a 15 minute window (2 – 7 depending on tier).
  • The targets are NPCs who already spawned on the maps. There is a clue as to what map they’ll be on for each target. They can be ANYWHERE on the map. Some of them are easier to find than others.
  • Only guilds with the mission active can start a fight with a bounty. Everyone else will see them as a non-combatant.
  • When the bounty is killed, it is respawned somewhere else for immediate re-use.
  • If you participated in the event to take the bounty down, you will immediately receive your personal reward for guild bounties for that week and your guild will receive completion credit for that target.
  • Once your guild completes all the targets (within the time limit) merits will be awarded to the guild.
  • Merits are used to unlock new upgrades and other types of missions, so it pays to successfully complete your bounty hunts.

Is the reward of Commendations, Rares/Exos, Precursor Chance, and 50s available to everyone who helps complete a mission, or just the guild members of the guild that triggered it?

Savoy has a point.

It is the day of the patch, and we still don’t have a detailed blog post explaining all the finer points of the Guild Mission feature. We don’t even have patch notes. The lack of a PTR has shown to be ineffective as well. Good communication is standard for MMOs, as people are willing to devote large portions of their free time to them.

I hate to say it, but visit MMOC’s front page and see the massive conversations developers have about upcoming feature and balance changes. ANet can improve.

Guild Missions sneak peek

Toxyn.9608

This amount of needed influence is killing many many smaller guilds but do not bother big guilds in any way. An extremly bad choice of design just make more player frustrated, as they have not a whiff of a chance in a smaller guild.
A full new meaning of “Guild Wars”!

Guild Missions are for 15 players+. I think that 15 players are able to acquire this amount of influence pretty easily in a week.

The first Bounty mission requires only two champion-level bosses to be killed in 15 minutes. Unless those champions have a very large amount of health, a guild of 4-6 could easily do it.

Today's expectations

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Toxyn.9608

I recall ANet promising an expansions worth of content in Q1 2013. We got almost nothing in January as it was ‘setting the scene’. That is cool.

So with just today and March update to come and then recall what Moria gave to LOTRO or Burning Crusade to WoW we can anticipate a huge amount of new content, features and mechanics.

Then I woke up.

Of course it depends on when Anets Q1 starts. Is it calendar? Is it Business? And, if it is Business when does their Fiscal year start? Could be January-March or February-April or March-May. Hell some companies Fiscal year starts in April. And is it their Fiscal year or NC Soft’s?

Just sayin’. They have a few outs…

Except that the “expansion worth of content in Q1” message was directed towards consumers. When you speak to a consumer, you use calendar. Fiscal is reserved for the business.

I expect a meaningful addition to the Living Story. It will be half over after this patch, so it better start getting good.

I expect the Guild Missions to be okay, but not great. I can’t see the personal rewards being unique.

Changes to AC will be cool I’m sure, but an update like this is geared towards future players or players who need something from it.

I am interested in the sPvP map. CTF is my favorite!

I’m more interested in what they haven’t told us. Balance changes, surprise additions, etc.

Toxyn.9608

CoE is a clinic in proper dodge skill. If you are dying to Alpha, you need to learn to dodge better — this means timing and conserving dodges.

When you do this path with players that have a good grasp on the dodge mechanic and endurance management, it’s pathetically easy.

I agree, the only thing really wrong with this dungeon is that 3 in 1 crap with mesmers and theives porting through doors. That is what really ruins my experience.

I agree. I have the DM title, but didn’t feel like a master when I entered a group that decided to do “3-in-1” and stay in melee againt Alpha while against a wall. I play much better doing things legit and staying mobile during a boss. I’m not opposed to skipping mobs, but I am opposed to glitches / cheesy gameplay.

Low level comunity vs Max Level commuity

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Toxyn.9608

Toxyn.9608

In my opinion there is just one community. Being low level is a temporary state until a player reaches max level. As long as a levelling system exists, low level content will always be regarded as a means to an end.

Additions to low level content are worthless if a player dislikes making alts (I only ever make one character), whereas high level content will be seen by all players eventually.

Even in GW2 where content is called “dynamic”, it actually isn’t. I can’t go to Queensdale and farm mobs for Heavy Moldy Bags / T6 mats. I still need to go to Orr and Frostgorge.

As a human-only player, I really want to know why my race left their home planet. It’s very Stargate: SG1. Did we destroy our own planet through war? Did our planet’s version of the Elder Dragons (if they existed on it) force use to relocate? Did an interplanetary race force us to relocate? Why did the Human Gods bring us to Tyria, specifically?

Does the lore team of ANet know the answers to these questions, or are they “winging it”?
