Exactly, Achen. I think it would have made much more sense if the event repeated once a month. We would continually keep the Karka at bay. Once ANet is ready to introduce the DSD, we could use SSC as a staging ground similar to Fort Trinity. The Pact would create a permanent base of operations there, with lots of Navy vessels and submarines instead of airships.

Bringing SSC into the personal story like this would make its addition to the world seamless.

@LiquidWolf Where does the nerfing end, though? If people expect nerfs to the few dungeon bosses that are difficult and / or challenging, what happens when they beat it all. They would be conditioned to ask for nerfs at that point. After beating all dungeon content, they would move into Fractals (logical next step). They would run into Imbued Shaman, wouldn’t be able to beat him, then ask for a nerf.

As far as content goes, the majority of it is already easy. It seems unskilled players want all content made easy, yet when skilled players want a little content to be challenging, they are called elitists.

In my opinion, it is the “strategies” such as all-in-melee that are preventing some people to learn how to play effectively. People should be learning how to properly avoid all attacks, not relying on everyone being nearby to pick them up.

@SneakyErvin Death is sacred. Maybe not as much as in our past (ancient Egyptians), but we still bury dead animals and humans. Necromancy in most forms of fiction is regarded as a “dark art”. You actually think society would allow people to summon the dead? The smell alone would be a reason to outlaw it.

Warcraft related merch and ingame pets / mounts often play off Murlocs. The Quaggan Backpack fills the same role. I realize that you don’t want to her a “learn to play” answer, but it is a very real answer and you can’t ignore self-improvement. Like real-life, no gamer is perfect and there is always room to improve.

1. Do not dodge the fire aoe. Walk out of it.
2. For the ice aoe, count to 2 and dodge.
3. Rally off tendrils.
4. Focus crystal prisons and essences when they are active.
5. If you are out of endurance, use a defensive cooldown.
6. Teleports can break you out of the Prisons (Ele’s Lightning Flash).
7. Always stay mobile.

Dead weight is a good term for them in my opinion. Many franchises create a comedic, cute race as a sort of mascot. It borderline breaks immersion since these races are more often than not very different than other native races.

Moogles in Final Fantasy
Murlocs in Warcraft
Quaggan in Guild Wars

I would have preferred to have a much more fleshed out Krait. Possibly a neutral faction of them that we could have learned from. Dwelve into their history and learn if there is a Krait / Forgotten relationship.

Warriors already exist, though they would use guns in our time.

Guardians, similar to Warriors, would use guns in our time.

Necros would be jailed / killed as it would be highly illegal.

Rangers essentially already exist.

Engineers essentially already exist.

Thieves essentially already exist.

All classes in real life can heal since we have antibiotics.

That leaves the Mesmer and Elementalist. Both use magic that doesn’t exist here, so I would think they would be the two best choices.

I’d go with Elementalist since we could generate our own electricity, start our own fires for heat / cooking, use the water to never be thirsty, and manipulate the earth to landscape.

I can’t see the AI being viable for Heroes / Mercs.

How would they know to trigger combos?
How would they handle jumping, avoiding lava pits, etc?
How would they know not to attack a mob with Reflection?
How would they handle areas that require use of bundles?
Fractals would not work at all.
Torchs in CoF3?
Totems in CoF1?
Barrels in CM?
Laser field in CoE?
Trap event in AC? Hell, the burrows events?
Deathball puzzle in Arah?
Almost every boss in Arah4 requires thoughtful action.
I could make this list massive.

The game is built for teams of 5 competent players. Geez, look at the nerf Simin thread in the Dungeon forum and you’ll see that some humans don’t even know how to play. AI cannot work.

How do Whispers Agents recognise each other?

in Lore

Toxyn.9608

I don’t consider the code nonsense. The Order of Whispers works in the shadows to tackle threats that are unseen to others, to tackle challenges that are not apparent to others, and to obtain information that others do not even know exists.

Thus, they “see the unseen”, “climb the unclimbable”, and “know the unknown”. In other words they can climb the mountain, where others don’t even know a mountain exists.

It is my opinion that ANet handles temporary content poorly.

So much work went ito the Halloween, Christmas, and Lost Shores updates, but 11 months out of the year that content is inaccessible. Time spent developing a holiday dungeon could have been spent making a permanent dungeon. In my opinion, holiday patches should not take the place of a month’s permanent content. Especially this early in GW2’s life.

The Lost Shores event could have been set to repeat once a month, instead we were left with an empty island.

To make this content some kind of end-game and exclusive, make a tier 6 art of war, which will take 3 months to be researched. The reason for this is so the content will last much longer.

You mean it will take longer to start because of the gating. Implying it will last longer means that smaller guilds have to be able to start it. If they can’t start it for a few weeks or months, then your point is moot.

I believe he is using sensationalism to prove a point. “If everything is gated behind a Level 5 gate, why not add a level 6 gate that takes three months to research and go to hell with it?”.

Just let guilds have fun and do the missions without prerequisites . How hard is that?

This is the other end of the spectrum that I also disagree with. If content wasn’t gated in some way, the content would be consumed within a week and then everyone would be asking for more.

The whole small guild vs large guild argument isn’t the point, though for some reason a lot of people are focusing on it.

Many people (rightfully) expected small guilds to have easy access to the introductory missions, average guilds would have easier access to intermediate missions, and the mega-guilds would have easier access to the high-end missions.

This could have been done by starting the research at say Level 2-3 of something, then the next step up in difficulty would require Level 4 of something, and finally the massive missions would require Level 5 of something. To gate everything behind a level 5 research is what people have an issue with, especially the WvW track. This hurts small guilds which have not invested in AoW as well as future guilds that will be starting fresh.

Guild Missions 'Activation' concern

Depending on how these are trigger, the best advice may be to activate the smaller ones during week nights during primetime hours when most people will be online. (Depending on the majority of the guild members’ timezone.)

Save the major events that require large groups for Friday and Saturday night when attendance will likely be higher.

Some people who are online at opposite hours of most of their guild members may miss out on events, or even the people that need to work nights / weekends. However, the number one rule of guilds is that the benefit should always be to the guild instead of select members.
