This would be a welcome addition. Sometimes it is difficult to notice visual cues underneath all the effects.

Agony doesn’t really hurt at level ten. Having a decent team more than makes up for it. You can’t blame ANet for this since the diffiulty is perfectly reasonable.
As for getting started with AR, every ten dailies you can get a specific ring, and each daily has a chance of giving a ring. We can get an amulet Friday with Laurels. The back piece mentioned earlier is another easy 5 AR.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I actually use the L79 light armor breather because it has PTV stats. I only (rarely) use the L80 one with my beserker set for the added precision.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I have to disagree. While progressing in PvE, gear sets come and go so fast / easy. In sPvP, we have time to “break in” our gear sets before we get new ones. Forging new skins out of the arcane materials does not feel like a waste of time because the gear lasts. I personally prefer it to take a long time than let it be burned through quickly.

These profession slots already exist on the character select screen.

I posted much earlier in this thead about my team’s success with this boss. Something I did not mention is that we did not beat it in two spark runs. We had times when we had a short 10-15 second window for dps and ended up breaking even. This made running the sparks fast even more important. All sparks should be in place within ten seconds.
We knew a kill was possible and just battled through the fight until we had enough large dps windows that she died. I don’t see this as a problem.
As for sparks stopping short of the circles for no reason, that never happened to us. The only problem we had with sparks is that they would aggro nearby players. We fixed that by positioning Simin off to the side so the three other players did not get in the way. If the sparks are stopping short I am almost certain that means that the runner is stopping short for at least a second. The runner must run the sparks fluidly into position so they don’t get a chance to stop short.
In short, it sounds like improving your ability to run sparks will get you a kill.

I find this event to be fun. It isn’t too easy, but nowhere near hard. Just target and kill assassins and you win.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I would if a few things were changed:
Content released faster.
Bug fixes and Profession Balance taken seriously.
DR and Magic Find removed.
Boosters are removed from the gem store and the bonuses are balanced into the game normally.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I find challenge fun. Now what?
Also, if level scaling did not exist, we would not have rewards of value in low level areas. If we still gained good karma, experience, and level 80 items in low level areas without scaling, why would anyone spend time in high level areas?
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
CTF is my favorite form of PvP. I just hope when new modes are added we get to choose which mode we play instead of it being random. Only thing about CTF is they have to be kitten sure the maps don’t have bugs that allow people to get to unintended place with the flag.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I’d like to see both DR and Magic Find removed. I’m a legit (human?) player and I honestly enjoy mindlessly farming for hours IF the drops are decent. I’ve never used a bot, not even in D2. I run into DR every day as part of my normal playstyle, and it sucks.
Magic Find shouldn’t exist in an mmo either. Just have decent, fun drop rates that reward players for playing. Why should I have to wear gear that improves my drop rates yet breaks my normal build? Not fun.
My favorite time farming in Orr was the night of the latest patch when drop rates of T6 mats were actually good. They of course “adjusted” them the next day.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Considering that ranks are cosmetic, I think it is a good thing that it is a slow climb. It is easy to run out of content in PvE to do and be left with a long (and boring) legendary material grind. At least in sPvP the grind for ranks is made interesting by human opponents.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
An evolving cape (yay Spawn) would be kitten, we’ll be lucky to even get a basic model.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
There are three steps to me “noticing” someone:
1. Unique armor arrangement / dye scheme grabs my attention.
2. I mouse over the person to see if he/she has a map comp star.
3. If the person has a star, I’ll click on them to see if they have an interesting title (DM or PVP-related).
In other words, the way titles are shown is okay as it isn’t intrusive, yet is there for people who care to check it out.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I already posted about a month ago in support, but capes warrant a second post. My human char needs a cape! Needs.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Achievement points would have to only be awarded to unique actions, otherwise a leaderboard can not work.
But then you have a hard cap at how many achi points you can get (no dailies, no salvaging, no hobby dungeon master), and all those 1000 players would have the same number of them.
I’m thinking long-term about this idea. Any new players 1-2 years from now would not be able to have a chance at being on the leader board if daily/monthly/infinite achievement points are not removed. The only way they would have a chance is if someone on the board stopped playing, which is not likely since the players with the most “fluff” points are dedicated to the game.
If a new player 1-2 years from now sinks a ton of time into the game and gets every unique achievement point, then yes, that player should be tied for #1 along with every other dedicated player. Otherwise, what is the point of the system? To exist solely for day one players?
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I wouldn’t mind if sPVP daily and monthly awarded laurels. Dedicated sPVPers who want gold for whatever reason could spend them on crafting material bags or boxes of gear (ectos) to sell. They could add an sPVP page to the laurel vendor with the Arcane materials available. Maybe a Laureate Glory Booster?
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
The only way this would work is if they removed the infinite achievements or added a sensible cap to them. Even the daily and monthly points would have to be taken back, otherwise new players would never be able to have a chance to catch up to those who have completed every daily since day one.
Achievement points would have to only be awarded to unique actions, otherwise a leaderboard can not work.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Myself and the other players I regularily run dungeons with know exactly what Defiant and Unshakable do. We choose to ignore them because everything dies fast and/or easy anyways. I remember when we were first learning Alpha’s attacks we fooled around with “Smart CC”, but that was the one exception.
The system just seems tacked on and unnecessary.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Dungeons / Fractals do not need a nerf. People need to state that they are new to something before the run is started. If this is stated, then your demeaning attitude is not warranted. You can choose to stay and help new players or nicely leave before the run starts. Sometimes it takes people multiple tries to learn something.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I’ve always considered multi-boxing similar to map / teleport hacks / botting / etc.
In the right hands multi-boxing can provide an unfair advantage over players who game “normally”. Normally of course meaning that a single game purchase is made and only one character is used at any given time.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I’m okay with this nerf. The fight was extremely easy before, just mind-numbingly tedius as others have said.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
@Hyperion On our kills, myself and another Ele run each spark zone in under 10 seconds. 5-7~ for the 2-set, around 9~ for the 3-set.
@Constantine These posts are proof? I can promise you that many more people have acquired DM than there are people in this thread complaining about it. ANet themselves have confirmed that they don’t have an issue besting Simin, right here in this thread. These posts are only proof that we have one boss in the game that is not killable by spamming #1 while semi-afk drinking coffee.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
While completing those two paths a couple weeks ago for my DM title I found that people jumped at the chance to finish them. My guildmates and I had no trouble finding two pug members willing to devote the time. I recommend trying on a Friday or Saturday night if you have not already. Good luck.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
In some ways this thread offer a more interesting storyline than the official personal story – Prove your worth to the dragon of your choice. Fall, but but fall magnificently into the pit of your choice.
I agree. It would be very cool if in a future expansion devoted to the Elder Dragons we get to make a choice in our PS as to which dragon energy we get corrupted by. Not fully corrupted of course, but just slightly tainted. Make us more interesting than perfect heroes. After being tainted it could unlock the correspoding Elite Skill (long cooldown, short duration) that would transform us into full minion form and change our action bar accordingly. It would have to be disabled in sPvP though, similar to racial abilities.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Even CoF doesn’t require a portal on a speed run.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I believe you’re right. They must have some sort of plan in the pipe to make Ascended gear and Agony Resistance useful outside of fractals. I would love to see new L80 dungeons designed with AR in mind and that award Ascended gear.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
BL chests seem to be the “hook” that brings people into the gem store. It’s sad, but what can we do? ANet needs to get paid, and that’s okay.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
At the very least it should have the main GW2 cinematic trailer showing Zhaitan in his glory, along with the live action trailer where people change from real world to game world. I realize we can tab out to watch them on youtube or whatever, but it would be nice not to have to.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I already have it through killing it “legit”. I have to agree with Phoenix; anyone who pays for the kill doesn’t deserve to wear a title claiming they have mastered dungeons.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Difficulty scaling doesn’t fix the issue I detailed. Like I said, if the difficulty scales depending on the amount of players, then a skilled player will be more efficient playing solo unless all five players are skilled. This would near-kill group content.
The only way to avoid setting the drop rates at -20% per less player would be to have the difficulty remain the same while soloing, meaning it would be hard as hell to solo (this is the current way that people solo – for the challenge of it).

Giganticus is fine actually. I used to have trouble when starting out in Arah but I rarely die now – and I play an Ele which has the lowest base HP and armor. All the bosses in Arah can be mastered, even Simin.
The only major bug I run into oftn is Operative Berma or whatever her name is. That boss bugs so often, preventing dungeon completion.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I would be okay with this as long as it offered decreased awards. -20% drop rates, coin, and tokens for each person under 5. This means 1/5 the awards while soloing. Otherwise, what is the point of forming a group if soloing is more reliable for a skilled player?
Dungeons and Fractals are the last bastion in this game for PvE players looking for a challenge snd teamwork, and even now it is barely that. Honestly if the game lost its only group-required content, I would quit.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
My Elementalist would join the Destroyers, permanently attuning to the fire element for full power!

Massively Multiplayer.
Guild Wars 2
Why are you expecting solo play in a genre focused on multiplayer?
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
No problem! Yeah, the 7/6 thing is annoying and even worse when you have the same runes in your sPVP gear. It’s possible for it to say 14/6 if you have the same runes in every slot. Terrible bug.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
It has to be the same rune as your helm to retain the bonus.
Bottom of the first paragraph: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rune
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
The aquabreather rune is only active while underwater. It takes the place of your normal helmet. In other words, the rune in your aqua breather should be the same as your normal helm to still have a 6/6 bonus.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Due to the lack of a trinity, it is important to stak both offensive and defensive stats. Being a hybrid isn’t a thing in this game – there’s just surviving and not surviving.
Also, there is a threat system. Toughness adds to your threat generation. If you don’t want to become a target yet stack a survival stat, go with Vitality. Wearing a shield also adds threat generation. Reviving an ally brings you to the top of the threat table during the process.

People skip to save time. This means that a large portion of the dungeon players think that trash wastes times (myself included). We don’t hate trash for no reason. The rewards from it aren’t worth the time to kill it. If trash in all dungeons dropped level appropriate materials (T6 at 80), then we would of course have no reason to skip it.
Why waste time? Fun? Bosses/Events are the fun part in my opinion.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I’m a US player, but I figured I would drop in to give you props for posting to organize a group. There should be more of this and less complaining that it is too hard to form groups.
One thing though; I suggest changing “guys” to “players”. I imagine there are quite a few skilled female players out there that could contribute to your group.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Our guild group does not skip anything that will award a chest, wonder bag, or karma. We do skip any trash possible because the time vs reward for it is terrible. If say, trash in dungeons dropped level-equivalent materials (T6 at level 80), you could bet your kitten we would crawl through and decimate everything.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
As long as solo-mode is restricted to Story, I have no issues with this. If you want solo explorables, perhaps it is time to ask yourself if buying a massively multiplayer game called Guild Wars was the right choice.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Depends on your definition of recent. It also doesn’t change the fact that they are not needed to create groups.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
For me it was level 30. Your full skill bar is unlocked and you have access to an elite skill. You can join a group for the first dungeon. You have twenty trait points to work with. Personal Story starts getting nteresting and tasks get more involve than “clean up my farm”.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I use the Named set (minus the mask) for my PVT set. It is absolutely awesome / regal. Young people / Aziz Ansari would call it #swag. lol!
Good dye combos for it are Ruby + Gold and Sapphire + Silver. Gives it a Red Tunic / Blue Tunic look. Lots of metal built into this set.

In a game with no group forming system, i don’t see why there shouldn’t be a solo option.
LFG tools are a recent development. Players were successful in the old MMOs as well. Meet new people, socialize with your realm community, build a friend list of capable / nice people, and join a guild. The system isn’t automated, but it doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I am fine with solo story modes, especially since explorables are gate by them. However, explorables should NEVER be nerfed or be designed for groups of less than five. Honestly, it is the only content in the game for PvE players that has any meat on it. The majority of the paths are already so easy that they can be completed in full pug groups in thirty minutes. I’ve never even been in a group that has needed to manipulate Defiant stacks – which would make it even easier.
I am trying not to be short-sighted, but it irks me that some players blame the dungeon difficulty intead of improving as a player. As for solo dungeons with minions or whatever – this is a muliplayer, guild-based game. I don’t know how else to say this. I fully agree with you, OP.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Gotta love this, you doing it wrong, don’t PuG elitism. While back in the days of yore, we heard stuff about ‘playing your way’. Course, now it’s play it the way we say.
And what about the players who want to play for a challenge? Can we not play the way we want to play?
The vast majority of this game, and even dungeon paths, are casual friendly. There are few dungeon paths that require more than a pug group and 30 minutes.
The best thing you can do is to build a solid friend list filled with pug members that perform well. Invite these people to your future dungeon runs.
