Nothing more advanced than the broom. If it flies off the ground or increases movement speed, it has no place here. I’m hoping the staff pranks everyone by giving a ‘mount’ that gives negative movement. Nothing says “F Off” like a slow-moving Gooeyduck.
Negative movement speed as in past zero. Trying to move would slowly roll back your account.

I hope they leave the achievement points we’ve gotten for the dailies up to this point.
That’s repeatable, but not really something you can exploit (at best, you can still only do your one daily a day).
I don’t think you have to worry about that. It is a completely different thing. Points earned through dailies and monthlies were acquired through normal gameplay, unlike the extreme cases of Agent of Entropy.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I have 418 in Agent of Entropy – with zero exploits. Lots of people who craft, farm or trade a lot will have several hundred in this achievement so I hope that is taken into account.
Then you have nothing to lose from limiting the currently infinite achievements. You achieved those points through normal gameplay – meaning you didn’t lose any gold from buying salvage kits and gear with only the goal of salvaging achievement points. You were going to salvage anyways, for crafting.
The only people who are effected are those that salvaged for the goal of salvaging “pointless points”. Even those people gain something from this, as they will already have it capped and thus have the maximum amount of points from it. At least now those points will have tangible purpose.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I only had two worries:
1. That already completed achievements might be ignored when a system using them is integrated.
2. That infinite achievements cause an imbalance.
Both issues have been seemingly be considered, so I am definitely looking forward to this.

I usually try my best to be as constructive as possible. However my response to this is:
Let’s not talk about mounts.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Actually what I meant by “rally your troops” being a good candidate for a WvW ability is that it would not be a personal buff. It would apply to all the players in your squad (commander icon), making it more effective in a team environment.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Let’s take it one step further:
/charr
/human
/norn
/asura
/sylvari
Let each race have a unique greeting, similar to how each has their own dance. A sort of secret handshake among your countrymen, if you will.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Yah, the age thing is a major flaw. You’re automatically excluding the Golden Age gamers.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I’m more bothered by the fact that nothing is immune to bleeding. earth elementals, ghosts, golems…they all bleed. I figure if they were going to give the dredge an immunity based in lore they should have been more consistent with it as an over all design.
It isn’t anything game breaking. Obviously it comes down to a game play based decision taking precedent over lore. But I can definitely relate with you being puzzled by it.
I’m sure more exceptions exist. Off the top of my head, there’s the Destroyers (fire-based) who can be immune to burning.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I am hoping for an expansion on the PS in the February update.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Does this really require a complaint thread on the forums? It isn’t a big deal.
Dredge being immune is a fun lore-based exception.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
As long as people aren’t penalized in some way for already having achievements finished, I am happy with the Token system. I would be very happy, actually.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Oh, my mistake. I misinterpreted. Having more than 5 players able to participate? I do not see a downside to that.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Three major things were mentioned about WvW:
1. There will be unique abilities.
2. There will be prestige ranks.
3. There will be leaderboards.
Put all three together and I think a good guess is rank-based titles and abilities, somehow based on personal performance in WvW.
Become a top ranked WvW player and get an ability to rally your troops and have a high military ranked title.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I am fully in support of dueling.
Balance doesn’t even have to be a factor. Like you said, Fay, it is a great way to improve against other professions an learn how to counter them – even if you don’t have a chance of winning due to 1v1 balance.
It is also fun finding epic places to duel and creating unofficial dueling spots.
One of my fondest memories of vanilla WoW was dueling outside Ironforge against my guildmates.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
The thing is, this is a multiplayer game at its core. The previous two holiday events have had single player elements in addition to the multiplayer. I see no reason for this to lean further towards single player.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I’m in the minority it seems. I am happy that a LFG tool is not being worked on.
I prefer meeting players on my realm and adding like-minded people to my friend list or bringing them into the guild. I do not want to be grouped with random people from a pool and never see these guys again out in the world.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I mentioned this in my New Player’s thread as the major issue with the game for me. As someone that has eye problems including issues distinguishing certain colors apart from each other, we need the ability to change the color of the circle. For me, simply filling it in with more red will not help.
As long as each of the basic colors are given as a choice in the options menu, the problem could be fixed for people who have similar issues. This way we could change the circle to contrast with the ground textures of any given area.
This needs to be done for accessibility reasons, otherwise players like myself are dead in the water during encounters such as the Eternal Flame.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I am very interested in both the token system for buying vanity items and Ascended gear, and the talk about WvW-unique abilities an titles.
Bring it on!
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Race change is one of those things that, while I realize could bring in good revenue, has a negative effect on gaming. It is my opinion that in an RPG you should commit to your character. Being able to race change also reduces the life of a game. Want the Norn experience? Create one and enjoy. Similar to how people want to change their Order. Commit!
Fast-tracking has become too prevalent in gaming. Things such as paying to change commitment choices and tools that break a community (LFG)…I just do not see why we need these.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I actually prefer te way it is now. We can fully specialize in up to two trait lines and then dip into another for a slight bonus. Or we can fully specialize in one trait line and dip into muliple others for a spread of bonuses. I would actually prefer if we were limited to just one Grand Master trait line.
What is the point of specializing if you are not limited in some way for doing it?
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
just a reminder that you can put dungeon weapons in the mystic forge for a chance at legendary precursor. I do it all the time since the worst case scenario I get somethign worth 2.5 gold
This is the best use of unused tokens, in my opinion.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Mordre also shares roots with the latin “mors” meaning death, while the “moth” part could stand for behemoth. So I would translate his name roughly to “Deadly Behemoth”.
A very good translation. Props!
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
The reasoning behind the 6th dragon theory is an ability used by Subject Alpha. Check it out here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Subject_Alpha
Also interesting is that “Mordre” is French for “to bite”.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
While I agree with you, I don’t think a purely time-spent title to be the answer. I would want something similar to the “Legendary Defender of Ascalon” title in GW1. Something absurd and only obtainable by playing the game in a unique way.
For those unaware, it was acquired by getting to max level without leaving the starting tutorial. It is on par with “The Insane” title in WoW.

No problem! Of course as the old saying goes, “Build it and they will come.”. There is no better advertisement than creating a great game that people want to play. At that point, word of mouth becomes an advertising tool and they will get more accolades like what TIME has given them.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Advertisement is a hit or miss kind of thing. If we’re talking television, then the best timeslots for a commercial would be weekly primetime (9pm-12pm) and Saturday morning/afternoons. Unfortunately these are also the most expensive slots. Not to mention that many people in the target demographic have switched to free/paid streaming services for their television.
Buying a page in a gaming mag is cost effective in comparison, although that is also a dieing media.
Then we have website advertisements. These are by far the most effective for game advertisements as they can be shown on specific websites where gamers are sure to gather. MMOC usually runs a GW2 ad, for example.
So I think ANet is handling advertisement quite well. They are getting their name out there while not wasting money. Free advertising such as TIME’s game of the year column is a great bonus.

I play using the Mac beta client, which isn’t even a true client – just a wrapped port. Yet I don’t experience and game-breaking lag, fps drops, or anything at high settings. This sounds like an issue with your computer or internet connection, not the game.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I don’t believe that GW2 needs it. I was going to give a detailed explanation why, but it’s a combination of reasons already given above.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I chose the Order of Whispers since they get efficient results. Not to mention that being part of a secret society is always fun.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
In the large majority of cases it is better to respawn at a waypoint rather than wait for a res. Unless you mean the downed state instead of actual death. The risks outweigh the benefits if you’re fully dead.
It takes a long time to revive someone that is fully dead. During this time, the person reviving you gets bumped up the aggro chain, resulting in a high probabiliry of death themselves.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Some classes like the elementalist are kitten near impossible to play in some areas as a solo character and especially you personal story.
I main an Ele, solo the world, and solo’d the personal story (except the final mission, obviously) with no issue whatsoever. It was even my first haracter so I had no idea what to expect or how to really play for a while.
Why would anyone want to turn off dynamic levelling anyways? You would no longer gain level-appropriate drops and experience, making it pointless. I see zero gain from having this option.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I would almost like to see two tiers here – with unlocked common dyes shared account wide while rare dyes are only per character. I think it’s still important the ‘rare’ items and colors and things remain rare in the game or they lose their specialness.
That is a good point, and a good compromise. Props.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
The unlocked dye library should be account wide. Unlike other things such as Bag Slots, the dye collection takes a large amount of resources (time, gold, and/or gems) to complete. I believe dyes should fall into the same category as unbound gear and dungeon tokens, in that obtaining them on your main should make playing your alts more enjoyable.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Create a Necro, kill an Ele, then raise it as a pet to fight for you.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Anet – I’ll buy and spend gems for you to NOT do this.
I’m with this guy.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I don’t know about you pkbot, but I find going back to low level areas when fully geared with exotics makes them much easier.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
for any one who may not know, this is a Easter egg based on. THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: ocarina of time.
You didn’t play the older LoZ games?
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I have a title I want in every MMO that has jump-antics…
“The Mountian Goat”
Or just “The Goat”….greatest of all time! lol
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I play GW2 on the Mac client and have very little issue playing, even at high graphical settings.
However, I am curious as to the status of the beta. Why is it in beta, and what is being done to improve compatibility – presumably taking it out of beta?
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
What title would you want?
My vote? “The Puzzler”….a slight jab at The Riddler from Batman.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
It’s a loaded question. The only real answer to it is “no” since things are very rarely done right the first time. It takes practice, iteration, and tweaking to get things just right. Like a timeless cooking recipe your grandmother might know.
The real question is; “Have they created a combat system that works well, and leaves room for improvement?”. I say yes.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
The way I view it is:
The professions each have a unique flavor.
Most gear in the game can be traded to an alt.
Dungeon tokens and pvp badges are tradeable to alts.
What this means to me is that you can play whatever profession you feel like playing and still gain a benefit to each of tour characters.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I think this would make all those people who already hate Orr ragequit. lol
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng

Look at that. What a glorious mane. Much awesomer than the dinky beards we can choose from now.
That is exceptional. So much so that it could have a major effect on racial balance in the game. Overnight we would see the % of Norn players increase.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
What I’m saying is that requesting a feature to be taken directly from another game isn’t an idea. Put a spin on it.
Want a challenge mode? Drop the time-based aspect and…I don’t know…perhaps a “Perfection” mode. If no one dies during your dungeon run, a second chest appears at the end which contains an assortment of T6 mats, additional dungeon tokens, and a small hance at a precursor.
This gives people the option to drop their Beserker builds and experiment with more sustainable builds. It also helps lessen the grind for the legendary and makes getting dungeon gear quicker.
This idea could of course be tweaked.
Things like this instead of, paraphrasing; “use WoWs challenge mode”.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
I’m trying to be sympathetic, but I’m starting to become frustrated by “ideas” to bring features of one MMO into another. True ideas, innovations, would be things that make Guild Wars 2 unique in comparison.
Not to mention that challenge modes are sort of already in GW2. At least the dynamic level/stat portion which lets 80s still experience low level dungeons.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
Devious Quaggan…part of me wants to see this, even if it is just in an event chain. Dr. Evool……lol.
Antonius Duarte – Elementalist – Kaineng
If it remains the same, I vote we get the title “Larger than Life” for completing it. Plays off the large size of a giant, and the large amount of real life hours it takes to obtain.
