I’m personally really bummed that Living story is the only content they’re adding nowadays. It’s okay for a few moments, but it’s so forgettable and bland it’s not a meaningful endgame content. I’d compare it to the holiday festivals like Wintersday and Halloween. The “whole world is your endgame content” doesn’t hold water either, so what is our endgame content? Everyone and their grandma must be bored with dungeons and Fractals by now as they are currently. Instead of pushing the Living story down our throats, please add some permanent endgame content.
My problem is that you’re pushing the living story so hard despite it’s not very interesting or memorable. Obviously you’re decided now that this is the way you want to go, despite the game still lacking meaningful endgame content you should IMO add before spending your time pushing the living story.
But if we want to fix the living story, it needs to actually be living instead of stagnant “once a month something that lasts for 5 minutes happens”. The events need to happen on a much tighter time frame, this way the feel of drama and urgency would be much greater. Obviously, people would complain if they miss out, but it would add a fresh feeling in the game where anything can happen without you telling beforehand what or when.
I’m not a fan of the storyline so I wish content updates weren’t tied to some NPC and their problems. You guys have done some good things with the GW2 story (Tybalt) but mostly it’s very forgettable and downright stupid (Trahearne).
Oh yeah, just after writing that post I ran into one. Just baubles for me so far, would be nice to have a confirmation on if they actually drop skins too.
Run the open world chests. I’ll pick up about one skin per day without killing myself. Unlike the Wintersday rewards, the baubles are instanced, so everyone around can get them.
With “open world chests” you mean chests in every PvE zone, like in Queensdale wolf cave, harpy den or JP chests? These drop the weapon skins too?
It honestly looks like some anime fan modified the original design and gave her huge eyes and mascara. I guess we should be lucky she didn’t get huge boobs as well.
Same can be said for normal swords as well. Most of them look hideous and something that a charr or a norn warrior would like to use, but I can’t find any swords that would fit my mesmer. What I would love is a rapier-type of sword meant for fencing, with a thin blade. But my options are kinda limited.
Even though the dev response in this thread says that everyone has their own opinion for what guilds are, they have chosen a pretty strange way for their view. For ANet, a guild is co-operating with other people randomly – i.e. they expect you to guild-hop just to reap rewards. That’s not what it’s about in my opinion at all! I feel like you should be able to do the GUILD content with YOUR GUILD, no matter how small or big it is! My guild is a small one with good friends and I want to do the content with them.
Maybe you could add some kind of Alliance feature that would rack up the influence for the whole alliance, this wouldn’t be such an issue. But right now it’s way easier to get rewards just by being in a big guild, and since those rewards are the best gear in the game, it’s not working out evenly.
(also, your example about dungeon gear etc. is kind of moot here. Everyone can go in the dungeon and try to do it. It’s simply not possible for a 5-man guild to do these missions as of now.)
I will not give money to anyone who just says on the mapchat “can some1 plz gimme munny!!!!!1” – but!
I would give money to someone who puts a little effort into it, like RP’ing a character that would use their speech skills to get a few coins, and makes tries to make it lore-appropriate. I once met a guy saying centaurs had stolen his bag of gold and he really needs 10 silver to pay his rent. It was funny, it was a lot more clever than your random map chat spam and it makes you feel like this is an actual environment. This is after all an RPG.
I’ve been trying to refer to this thing as the Claw as often as I can, so that others would catch up on it too instead of calling it Jormag.
And yes it’s funny how even now after they fixed the lagfest, people still try to camp that one spot and totally ignore the golems being slaughtered.
The whole thing is getting very annoying with overflows everywhere. I don’t know how much of it is because of questing and how much simply because people are coming out of LA and dungeons to camp these world events.
Solutions?
1) Limit boss chests to one per account for day (per event)
2) Increase drop rates other world mobs. If veterans had a high chance of dropping rares and champions exotics, people would spread out over the midlevel zones instead of all ganking one event.
It’s the same on all the dragon events now. And it’s not a performance issue (on the player side), it’s purely because the improved loot has brought out so many people trying to do these events and the game can’t handle such masses. Skills won’t work, there’s huge lag all the time and people aren’t sure if they’re doing anything on the boss.
I’m a member of a small guild that fairly often can get a 5-man dungeon group together but sometime has to PUG one or two people. We’re a group of friends that has played other games together before and joined GW2 as well. We’ve looked into recruiting people, but every nice person I’ve met while PUGging has usually had a guild already. Merging with some other guild in a same situation is something we’ve thought about, since none of us really wants to be in a really huge guild (which, ironically enough, would have no trouble doing guild missions.)
The thing is, I don’t feel comfortable at all to leaving my guild and joining a huge one just to be able to do these missions. I wouldn’t feel right towards that other guild either to pop in whenever they’re doing a mission and then just leave. (even though I just read Refeuh’s response ^^^ where he says it’s fine with him) I feel that I should be able to do these things with my own guild.
If you have content that requires 15 people to do, that’s fine, we can always get a group going with other people. But if you have GUILD missions, it sure would be nice to be able to do them with our GUILD, however small it would be. Otherwise ANet needs to say this content is for large guilds only, unless you’re willing to guildswap.
From this morning onwards I’ve run into a strange bug with the armor mentioned. Dye won’t apply to the main part of the armor on certain colors. I’ve tried Lipstick dye on boots and chestpiece. It shows okay on the hero panel dye screen, but in-game dye won’t affect them and they have the basic “dye remover” ugly color.
Then when I try to remove the boots from my character, the game crashes. Some other dyes are fine, like Wrath (tried it). Is the game telling me this dye doesn’t look good with these boots?
I love doing this! Wish we would get more cultural armor with different shaped leaves/petals to choose from some day so we can get even closer to real plants.
All of these look really good! Can you tell me what dyes you used for the middle pic (with T3 cultural light armor)?
