Well make that time longer, then! It’s your own decision to squeeze these events out every two weeks! I’m sure players will be more than happy to wait a bit longer to get polished and not rushed content.
Well, I guess the only way to find out is to actually make a LS about a man who’s not-so-mild-mannered nobleman by day and a Krytan crimefighter by night. Maybe he was bitten by a skritt, and turned into … The Skrittman.
Sadly, it would be way more interesting than the story you have going right now.
It seems to me that every event counted for the deed despite success or failure last night. But since today nothing counts. Maybe they’ll get it right eventually?
You do realize that it’s perfectly viable to zerg up to get a ton of champs AND complete the event?
It’s possible, yes. But it’s also clear that there are people who aren’t even slightly concerned about finishing it and simply encourage people to zerg in one big mob, farm a few events and get champ bags. They don’t care if the event fails.
Don’t get me wrong, the event can still succeed despite them, but it’s just behaviour that rubs me the wrong way,
Yeah, there’s all kinds of nastiness going on in the map chat again. Some people want to form a big zerg, even abusing their commander tags and order people to join up so that they can scale more champions and fail the event on purpose. I think commander tags hurt here more than they help since people do tend to follow the tags instead of splitting up to 5-10 man teams and clearing the events faster.
Yep, there have definately been zones I’ve done today where I haven’t finished it previously. Neither the clockwork or Vorpp deeds are updating, so I’ll leave it until fixed.
Another event just ended in Blazeridge and still no update on the deeds.
Having the same problem, also Vorpp’s portal closer deed isn’t updating.
I’m talking about Vorpp’s achievement “Portal invasion closer”. You need to be there for 5 events when they end to go forward, and now I’m stuck since it’s not progressing at all. Could we get a response on this one?
And now it seems like it’s not progressing AT ALL, despite succeeding at the invasion. Anyone else having this problem?
I expected this change, but honestly, when you have failed the previous events due to many others playing stupidly, you start to feel discouraged. Spend 45 minutes mindlessly killing mobs and still be stuck at 4/5 for Vorpp’s achievement.
Plus you also get ONE shoulder scrap as a reward for the whole 45 minutes of fun if you fail.
oh yeah? Tell me which zerg did you join for Sky Crystal hunt at zephyr sanctum, or for candidate trials?
It’s ironic since you mentioned candidate trials which was nothing but mowing down hordes of mobs, even though you didn’t have a zerg with you.
Mindless killing hundreds of mobs with zero strategy is not my idea of fun content.
Guild Wars 2, the game where you can be away from your keyboard in an outpost and still get rewards after 45 minutes and progress in your achievements.
edit: I had no idea going away from keyboard was censored.
She looks like bad copy of Joker.
Funny, I thought that she is pretty much an exact copy of Harley Quinn, even has the same color scheme and voice.
But yeah, she’s quite one-dimensional. Lots of long speeches, telling what you’re gonna do and maniac laughter. Bo-ring.
Zerging will get old very fast. I’m already having trouble imagining doing even 5 of those events needed to progress in the storyline.
It doesn’t feel like the world is “living”, either. A huge mob spawns, gets killed, zerg moves on. Same old, same old, and the residents of those zones think “what the hell just happened?”
I’m thinking you have to do 5 invasion events?
Hopefully they’ll add a slider that will allow us to set the amount of culling. It’s really frustrating to have the game slowed simply because there’s so many people playing.
The events are simply not happening in overflows. Quite buggy as of now it seems.
It’s quite underwhelming. Plus I feel like I’m not really needed around, when all the other main characters do the planning and strategizing and leave me with running around and killing stuff. No one even addresses me by name or talks to me directly. (it’s bad enough that Rox and Braham didn’t even remember me at the Pavillion.)
My character has killed hundreds of humans, charr, asura, sylvari, norn and all other possible races throughout my story and I’m still the guest of honor. You gotta suspend your disbelief when you talk about the storylines.
My point being, Canach has “killed” people off-screen on a website. There’s no impact. He has no personality. I agree that if ANet wants Living story to go anywhere, they need to build characters more and finally have them do stuff that has a lasting and big impact. So far what we’ve done in the LS could just as well not have happened at all.
There’s not much depth in Living story at the moment.
I will however wait and see how they implement the new zones and larger content updates before making a final judgment.
I hope they actually have balls to kill her, even if it means inconsistency with personal storylines.
You don’t think Logan and/or Anise would have every possible scenario planned, considering there was already an attack?
They are characters in a game run by ANet. If ANet wants a storyline where the queen gets killed, she gets killed. But I guess we’ll see.
I’m rooting for you Scarlet! Please rid us of Logan!
And Trahearne!
I hope they actually have balls to kill her, even if it means inconsistency with personal storylines.
“Sorry for wasting your time with this whole living story thing. We now return to our normal awesome content with the elder dragons. I’ve approved access to Crystal Desert via Fields of Ruin. Now go fight Kralkatorrik and have some good content for a change! Also I’ve brought Tybalt back to replace Trahearne as the Commander since he’s awesome.
One more thing, next update will include Guild Halls. Have fun, citizens!"
I’m still hoping for Kralkatorrik to crash Divinity’s Reach to bits. Or something this magnitude. I would actually applaud Colin for his guile “oh noo dragons this year!” and admit that it makes an impact on the world, like they constantly promise with the living story. But I guess we’ll get Aetherblades attacking DR, their airship crashing down and the pavillion reduced to one big hole again. HUGE EPIC IMPACT!
Maybe we’ll find out she has a stutter and the PC has to be her speaking tutor.
I’ll be surprised if it’ll actually make an impact to the game.
Most people who have even a few thousand AP have their bank full of mystic forge stones by now. It’s the best solution by far to make mystic salvage kits, 250 uses, only costs about ~20 silver when you buy the 3 lesser kits. I would never buy an “infinite” kit that costs 3 copper per use with 800 gems.
I feel like the emphasis on stories (living or personal) is what’s hurting GW2 since the level of writing isn’t very good or memorable. I’d hope they would focus on good gameplay instead of building on storylines, after all, if the playing is fun the storyline can be non-existent.
Cool story. I might care if Rox would recognize my character in-game after all I’ve done to help her.
It’s because people were creating characters, logging in and sending their free tickets to their main character. They would repeat this and get hundreds of tickets for little effort. I imagine it also caused problems for the game engine.
I have to wonder what does it matter, since you can get dozens of these tickets by zerging mobs at the pavillion and they’re only good for your personal use. Who cares if someone has hundreds of tickets?
The trouble is I have about 50 gold on me, the most probably I’ve had at one time. I’m torn on getting the rapier ASAP but my sensible side is telling me to wait for it to drop even more on price!
I’m excited that they finally added a rapier, but I’m also a bit disappointed that it’s so long! But it feels like I’m nitpicking at this point.
Now, add a rose focus. Or a focus that actually doesn’t look like some overblown piece of metal you carry around.
I’ve definately noticed this. The loading times get longer all the time, my PC specs haven’t changed but since launch I’m looking at the loading screens more and more. I understand it for zones like LA, but now even normal zones are loading way longer than before.
As a mesmer, I circled around him in melee range, used sword #2 when it was up and focus #5 to take care of little oozes and hit the big one. Illusionary defender was good also, and the signet that gives AoE blind to enemies. No idea though how I can do it without killing the little oozes.
I am sceptical about larger content updates being delivered to us via the Living story like ANet is planning, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt to work on their “bigger projects” for a while. It remains to be seen what they are.
Perhaps they added some kind of restriction that applies only to the pavillion events. I have killed the QD troll at least twice and got the lootbag both times.
Maybe the NPC could resurrect you, in case you’re all alone there.
This is the bug I had: I did the tower event (queensdale), but pressed “travel to Divinity’s reach” by mistake. when I got back, I could no longer loot the chest. So I missed one chest altogether.
because you’re playing a free, subscription-less game, and for them feed their families they have to make some money someplace, get over it.
Somehow I don’t think their families are starving because you don’t buy hundreds of gems every month.
But yeah, you have a choice of not using it. I usually use The Grove (as my race capital) for my daily business, the crafting area is close to the bank and TP.
They don’t recognize me either and I surely have done all the content there is with them. Maybe they just think all Sylvari look alike.
I can’t even beat the Tier 1 last boss (that is the 4th total, the girl with the book). As far as I know, she doesn’t “reveal” her big oneshot attack so I have to take the damage tick or be one-shotted. She also doesn’t like to be dragged to those circles to get the invulnerability buff off. Any tips for a mesmer?
I shudder to think what is in store for tiers 2 and 3, but then again, I don’t PvP, I may just suck at 1v1.
I would prefer more zones to explore instead of HUGE AMOUNT OF CONTENT on a miniscule (instanced) area. You have built the open world, now let us in there.
As a player, I’d rather login and experience an event knowing the outcome and the results of the story will create content I can see and experience for years, than have it all go away 2 weeks later, and have no impact.
I understand you are trying to change your pattern but you do realize that majority you’ve done so far with the living story falls under the “no impact” category?
[puts tinfoil hat on]
Funny thing is we have no way of knowing if there ever was an election. For all we know the numbers are made up and ANet enjoyed our campaining on the forums and in-game with their plans laid out for Kiel’s win all the way. I guess conformity won this round against anarchism.
[tinfoil hat off]
… is the fact that she’s such a bad winner that she sends me a mail saying how much she appreciates my support despite my voting Evon for hundreds of votes. Your sarcasm is unnecessary, Ellen!
It seems a bit puzzling to me that Colin would say that. In essence, isn’t the whole point of their living story that the world lives and changes after what we, the players have done? It’s the best kind of result we can hope for, the purification of Orr.
I understand his concern that how the newer players would feel about it. But I’d say – tough! You’ll have to deal with a different kind of Orr. A one with not as desolate as before.
