I’d advice anyone to just stop buying keys with gems. That sends ANet a wrong message. Buy the skins from TP if you want them, don’t support their random skin lottery.

Have rewards dps-bound instead of “I entered an instance and I’ll be rewarded”. I’m sorry. Either that and have people who deserve loot not getting it or have a bunch of leechers. I see no other way.
It is DPS bound though. The thing is that the threshold is so low that you only need a few hits to get credit.
It’s a very strange notion to imagine someone going through the trouble of hitting a boss a few times and then hiding in a corner somewhere.
It’s nothing new in Guild Wars, though, or any other MMO like was mentioned. Everyone who played Ft. Aspenwood, Jade Quarry or Alliance Battles got their share of leechers and AFK’ers, and there it was all the more aggravating since they directly caused your team grief. Here’s it’s more of an annoyance – why should you benefit for doing nothing for my hard work?
Can ANet answer that?
I don’t feel bad for leaving fully dead players lying there. I’ve run back on pretty much all the events, sometimes it takes longer (like this time), but I always do it. It’s so dangerous rezzing a dead person in an event where AoE is everywhere and there’s a ton of mobs. Especially in Knight battles, if people are dead in the Knights’ feet, good luck getting a rez there.
Which one is truly a team player – the one who requires 4-5 others to stop their contribution to save their lazy kitten or the one who takes time to run back and get to the fight as fast as possible?

Now the problem is on the Hologram fight. It’s quite hard to get it down in time in early hours or a less populated server. Any chance for tone-down of HP for that one as well? The fight is boring already as it is.
This has probably been here before, but it’s still funny. Apparently “they” don’t think Cantha was beautiful. Or has it been completely removed from Guild Wars 2 lore?
Human, warrior, commoner, (hospital), go!
I would do this a hundred times rather than buying any keys from the gemstore. And occasionally I do, if I’m bored, or find others who want to do the same thing.
Also, the OP is playing the assume game – he assumes that if the BL key farming was removed, people would buy those keys from the gemstore instead. Which I’m sure the majority wouldn’t.

Why isn’t there a “Use all” option when it comes to Luck piles and similar click-items.
I agree that as a big finale to the Season 1 of the living story this update feels unpolished and lackluster in many ways. Bugs are one thing, but the payoff hasn’t felt satisfactory either.
And yes I’m again comparing to GW1. When you beat a campaign, it was an epic moment. Big bad boss fight was memorable (Scarlet fight didn’t feel very epic at any point), and afterwards you got to celebrate, pick up a unique skinned weapon and craft unique armor. You felt like a hero. Now you just watch a cutscene (which was good, granted) and then … nothing. Loot bag with less than satisfactory loot for a year’s worth of Living story. Same bugged fights, if you still want to do them. Not much questions answered.
Yes, I know there’s an epilogue coming up. But judging from what we’ve heard, there’s no grand rewards coming up and it’s more dialogue than a proper send-off. But we’ll see.
Please don’t delete them!
You can hold on to your extra blade shards, as the team will be adding something later which will allow you to convert the shards to something of value. Dev will be announcing more on that later. Thanks!
How about something to trade my dozens of stacks of Bloodstone dust? I’m hanging on to them hoping they’ll be good for something… (yes I have more than enough bricks too)

Account bound item exchanged for a weapon of your choice (make it Scarlet themed or something) would’ve been nice.
GS is situation for me. PVE, most cases I run Sw/P and Sw/F. If there is too much AOE damage flying around in, I will always change to GS for more survivability.
Focus is very good with warden feedback and signet of the ether. You can easy take out 3 / 4 mobs when you cluster them together.
In PVP on the other hand I always run GS. I tried using staff but could not get my head around it. Also do not like the play style.
I also used GS in PvE as a general weapon for a long time. Then I started experimenting on other weapons and found out that sword/x does a lot more damage, although it puts you right into the fray close to the mob and I was not used to that.
Sword/Focus and Sword/Pistol is what I tend to use now, but it still feels very dangerous especially in these last two big events when there’s AoE everywhere and mobs hit very kitten close range. Sometimes I too swap out GS or Staff just to be safe and kill from range. I feel like I’m not doing as much damage as I could, but I’m a bit safer and in control. It may be that I’m not as used to the sword playstyle yet, though.
This is once again proof that you should do everything you can in the first few days of an update when there’s enough players, loot is good and they havent’ changed the fights to worse.
Seriously, 50 people limit? Overflows where I’ve tried the equal split mechanic always failed due to over-stacking Red. Zerg, then move on, has worked every time. Again seems like fixing something that isn’t broken instead of badly needed fixes to things that ARE broken!

You’re right, I’m just quite sceptical on how much exposition an epilogue can offer. There are many things left unanswered, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Are you guys impatient or what? You really want a patch that tells the whole story and makes the next few years of GW2 irrelevant?
It’s like asking a patch for Season 2 to reveal all the spoilers.
Have patience, geez.
Wait for the epilogue, then complain.
So much that ^
chuckle +1
Can we chuckle if the epilogue doesn’t answer any of the living story season 1 questions and concerns?
I agree. I definately felt some One Winged Angel – vibes there, was waiting for a choir to chant “Scarlet, Scarlet, Scarlet”.
Same here. Me and my friend don’t even care what happens in the background. For once, it’s an accurate representation of my own attitudes towards the LS characters.
I turn my performance settings to lowest in this kind of huge mob event anyway and I can verify it started to get pretty hard seeing when the Knight was jumping in order to dodge the pull. All the projectiles flying and effects even on lowest settings made it difficult to see what was going on.
Braham is a Norn. He has all kinds of animal forms…
…now this is veering off to a uncomfortable direction, so I’ll stop here.
Aren’t they just your normal engineer downed skills?
Anyone here besides me for RoxHam shipping xD?
If it turns out they hook up, I wouldn’t have an issue with it. They’ve shown to care and respect for each other but not rubbed onto our face. But I would still put them under “bromance” category (which would work better if Rox didn’t have such big eyes).
I demand a cute little old gay male couple that razzes each other about home decor.
Guild Wars 3: The adventures of Trahearne & Canach.
But the whole game has that three-option choice mechanic in it already. I did say that the end result could still be the same (Braham and Marjory going Leroy on Scarlet) but at least they want to ask for my opinion. Now I’m just standing there scratching my butt while they run around.
The whole thing with Malyck, the Sylvari, Pale Tree and Mordemoth is probably one of the most interesting storylines of the whole game for me. I’ve often criticized the writing team (most of my critique is towards bland LS characters and character arcs), but this is one aspect they’ve managed to keep it interesting. I’m sincerely hoping for more and looks like we’ll get more.
I would’ve liked a choice there (I can’t remember what the actual names are for the options):
Braham: Player, what should we do?
Heart: Let’s hear her out, we’ve come this far
Crown: She might have a trick up her sleeve, let’s be cautious
Fist: Kill her now!
Maybe the aftermath could’ve been the same, but at least we would get an illusion of choice.
I loved the Kasmeer/Jory scene. Period. I couldn’t care less about their genders. It’s nice to actually see something happen, so my next request is Queen Jennah harshly rejecting Logan, which makes him seek solace in alcohol and brawls.
I thought the consensus was that Logan is under her charm. Or that’s how it was depicted in the novels. She has really no reason to dismiss him, since she’s got him by the bal…. leash.
I’m sure they have something bigger than your usual 2-week update on the living story on the works. But I’m still not sure how they’re gonna deliver it. I don’t think that LS is the best suited mechanic to deliver a whole new zone or zones, new mechanics or even bigger themes like Guild Halls etc.
I’m again disappointed that the discussion is turning towards a metadiscussion about homosexual relationships where for me and many others the beef has ALWAYS been about lackluster writing. I personally couldn’t care less what race or gender Kas and Mar were, but the whole thing is just so cliché, feels forced and sappier than a Harlequin novel.
Marjory: Kasmeer, I could gaze into your blue eyes for all eternity!
Kasmeer: Marjory, please tell me you’ll stay by my side for ever!
Braham: Get a room, you guys!

I don’t like to see ANY romance in MAIN story plot.
I’ve seen people say this kind of thing.
I enjoy love stories a lot. They make me feel squishy inside. I’m glad to see them in a game I love.
When I said that it’s generally the ladies who enjoy romance subplots more than gents, I was warned about sexism. So be careful!

It might be a cliche, but it’s really a pretty standard thing anyone would say in that situation. There is really no need for any other words. Just put yourself any situation like that.
I didn’t. Need at least ONE cynical coldhearted character.
Speaking of which, I was waiting for Canach to redeem himself in the Battle for LA, heck, I was waiting for him to do SOMETHING, but I guess that ship sailed. He is much more interesting than the scooby-doo crew we had there, I was really hoping that he’d make up for his crimes and joined the Scarlet fight.

I got loot earlier today (was not in a group) but nothing on the 2nd go later. Maybe you can get the boxes only once a day? Can anyone confirm or dispute?
The portals re-appear on the other knights’ locations. Last one we fought a while ago was red and the other two portals were there offer a re-attune after we finished.

To be honest, I think personally my biggest problem is Braham – acting as ANet proxy – saying “we don’t want to know more”, as in, “we don’t have all the answers to give you so go away please”. I was like, the hell I don’t! I’ve been waiting for Scarlet to spill the beans for ages, but then Leroy Marjory and Ham-Boy here just go RAAAAARGH and I’m standing there fiddling with my gear. Great.
These new living story “main” characters have been IMO one of the blandest in the whole game. I haven’t been able to care about them like I cared about Malyck, Tybalt, Canach (all that buildup and he did nothing?) or maybe Evon. I would much rather stand up there with my party of friends instead NPC’s.

I guess it’s one of those things where you have to be gay to understand, like myself.
Do notice that people here didn’t criticize them for having a homosexual relationship. For my part the critique has always been about writing. It’s you who is taking it as lesbian relationship criticism.
I got the achievement even after transmuting the backpiece to my Fervid censer. (I hated the look of the metallic thing, but it had a bit better stats on exotic.)

I’m all for romance in video games. We’ve had this Kas & Mar discussion many, many times before on various topics so I’ll try to concise. K&M feels too forced, too .. non-subtle. Shoehorned. Especially the last few updates where their romance has surely not been a mystery to anyone who watches their dialogue. I don’t need my romancing Guild Wars NPC’s to rub my face in it. Koss & Meloni was a good example. So was Mhenlo & Cynn. (Now THERE’S a romance that was funny to watch and wasn’t too cheesy!)
And I’m sorry if I’m a bit of a Grinch here, since the OP seems pretty sincere. But I’m just not feeling it.
I still think it’s a noble idea with a subpar execution.
I would prefer normal expansions.
The characters in-game didn’t see that cinematic. They still need something to come to the same conclusion as us players.

Here’s to the play-testing department!
Oh wait, I guess that means us players!
Hopefully a fix is released sooner than later. I’d really want to see that fight on the airship, even though I’ve seen the ending already.

I would like to congratulate A-net for that amazing animation of Jory X Kas, and hope to see more animations on par with it in future using the in game engine, that was truly a hard amount of work from you guys.
I seriously cannot tell if you’re honestly happy or just very sarcastic.
Hopefully someone will take a screencap of Kasmeer’s face there, it was quite scary.
Currently the event is bugged and the knights don’t give you the buffs you need when you kill them. So I’d advice waiting until ANet fixes it, currently no one (in overflows at least) can’t get to the Scarlet’s airship phase.
What if…
The Sylvari are to Mordremoth as the Undead are to Zhaitan…
That theory has been thrown around many times. The best reasoning may be that the Sylvari cannot be corrupted by other dragons – since they are already minions of another Dragon.
I’ve been in three overflows tonight and always failed pretty much the same reason. People are flocking the red knight, leaving the other two deserted. Why is this so hard for the community? Why can’t they divide equally in three groups? Here’s my take:
Red knight has the waypoint closest to it.
And since people are lazy, they run to red one and stay there. Or maybe they can’t read the event description. Either way, it just baffles me how a simple mechanic like dividing into three keeps failing.
And yes I’m sure main servers have no problem. (haven’t been able to get to mine.) Overflows do, but I cannot go entirely behind language barriers since the objective is friggin’ same in all languages! All three knights must die. But no, 100+ on red, 10+ on blue and green. Is the only possible solution the marionette way – get in your main server hours beforehand and keep the game on as long as you succeed?
Mordremoth.
I just have to wonder how Colin thought this was a “one in a million” prediction.
As resident Colin, I said this back when the world thought it was Primordus or a time travel story line, as more clues came out the theories got MUCH more correct, by mid-february the correct theories were certainly far more plentiful. Also the one in 10-20K number was about the entire story in the final 2 releases, not just one specific part of the ending. Only a couple of folks correctly guessed LA getting nuked before we gave any of the hints for example.
Above all else, I just want to say how much fun it has been watching everyone theorize over the last few months. It’s one of the coolest parts of the living world experience to me. Where it goes from here….well you’ll just have to wait to find out!
I hear ya.
I was secretly hoping it’d be Lazarus, but personally was convinced pretty early it’d be Mordremoth. I mean, the hints you dropped didn’t point to Primordus, and by this I mean the hints not necessarily related to couple latest LS releases (like the new constellation and CoE experiments).
As long as you’re here: can we expect some kind of explanation on the Aetherblades? Who are they, where do they come from, and most importantly, why do they feel like sacrificing themselves by the hundreds for Scarlet? Surely she’s not powerful enough to kill them ALL (unlike we players).
Also, new zones in the Maguuma jungle, pretty please?

Seriously! I’m still picking my jaw up off the floor.
You are pretty easily impressed.
A) Kasmeer & Marjory was pretty cheesy as before. If that’s what they were going for, great. Success.
B) Loot was alright, lesser vision crystal saves me a few jumping puzzles and skillpoints, I guess.
C) Selling Tormented weapons on the store just makes me angry that there’s no way to get them besides random. It’s a slap on the face for any GW1 veterans who had them and loved them.
D) Event itself has potential but I’m already stupefied how dumbly people are playing. Red knight has 100+ people on it while green has 10. No chance to make it into the next phase. Hopefully will improve with time.
E) Who was E?
F) Also, one positive thing – I liked how they put a portal there to access the ending in case people didn’t feel like zerging or just can’t finish the events and just want to see what happens.
By the way, is there supposed to be something else after you escape the ship and see the cinematic? It seems like the whole thing just ends abruptly.
(edited by Traveller.7496)
Mordremoth.
I just have to wonder how Colin thought this was a “one in a million” prediction.
Okay, I have to say this. I’m not sure if this was meant for a real emotional moment or not, but for me the hiccups made it pure comic relief. I get it, she was nervous. But still, I was just laughing the whole time in there.
Oh, I definately agree that the whole mess is mostly ANet’s fault. With the loot so abysmal across the board it’s no wonder people will take the path of least resistance to get their bags. But still, I will not buy the claim that rescuing citizens would not be the originally thought objective of the event. It’s the same as Scarlet invasions, on many maps they weren’t completed since many people were just farming champions – it’s still a by-product of poor design, not an “objective”.
Judging from my personal experiences only when the whole map co-ordinates a rescue, as in, saying which routes needs help and how many people are there, the limit can be breached without too much hassle. When there’s zergs going on, it’s not gonna happen, at least for me it didn’t.
But I guess we’ll see tomorrow what kind of new event we get, I don’t mean to be too “opposite of soft” (that’s a forbidden word? really?) on people but I’m just a bit frustrated and sad the event cannot be completed because in a way we are fighting each other.
I don’t see what the big deal is.. The 1200 bag you get issues crap loot.. I get more and about the same loot from the other bags.. So iI for one wouldn’t mind not getting the reward you seem to think you worked so hard for.. But you ever heard of team effort? This is all set up just for that and the way it’s supposed to be played. You my friend are a farmer to If all you do is rescue civs. as there are many other objectives to the whole La thing….
It’s the fact you don’t seem to get. Your farming is hurting others from completing the objective of the event. You know, the one with the running bar on the screen? Rescue citizens? Missed that? What other objective is there? There’s no bar “this much time needs to be spent AFK” or “this big of a zerg needs to be gathered”.
I just feel really bad whenever I try to save 1200 and I see just a couple big zergs around commanders. It’s really those commanders that are doing the community a disservice with their selfishness, they should know better.
