If trolls didnt exist i would be all for this idea but you never now when that 1 guy comes along and cancels all the conditions on purpose. but in theory this would be awesome to have
I know someone who would do that for fun…
And besides that, this would be way to difficult for the ‘casual’ to keep up. Some pugs are hardly able to run AC as it is, what would it be after an update like this.
I like the idea, but it would only fit in a game made for ‘elite players’.
SPvP has completely different rules and objectives.
For whichever reason, the Anet guys in charge of balance determined that confusion was too powerful in sPvP. The same for many other abilities, which is why there is a sPvP/non-sPvP split with many skills.
Example: the change to Portal cool down to 90 seconds is a good change to sPvP, as otherwise a Mesmer could guard two capture points. Where as the 90 Portal cool down is completely unneeded and downright stupid outside of sPvP.
Different game types, which have different objectives and rules, require different balance adjustments.
That explains why I didn’t have the feeling how overpowered my mesmer was underwater as much in spvp as in wvw. (weird sentence… too tired to write it well)
And for the portal: it was also abused in WvW to move alpha golems across the map at high speed. There was no need to nerf it for jump puzzles and other stuff in open world though >.>
I am using 10/5/25/30/0 on my D/D necro.
For my secondary I am not entirely sure yet, its either Axe/dagger or staff. The axe provides vuln for my teammates, but the staff is really usefull for lures and some more control with fear.
I am specced into life siphon which is definitely the most effective with daggers. Though it is more of a pve build, I don’t think it works really well in pvp since you won’t heal enough.
I’ve done two explorations in Orr and only seen one Eye. I agree, the drop rate does seem a bit low. But the other yellow-class crafting components also seem tragically rare to find. Makes discovery and production with them prohibitive.
I have done a few more then 2 and I have never seen an eye drop yet… Not for myself nor a party member.
Which precursor are you talking about? The Hunter stabilized around 115g and I was able to afford it after grinding it within 6 days, starting from 0g.
You either have no life or no fun in this game o.O
Reason being that it is difficult enough to find a low level group, and it is only going to get harder. So by forcing people to do the lower levels again on their alts new players (hopefully) will be able to find a group. I agree it’s annoying but that’s why.
Nope, in that case I’ll not pug at all and wait for guild alt runs, which hurts me in progression pace but saves me wasted 2-3 hours of most horrible pugs.
I don’t find the prospect of consistently wiping to the dredge warsuit and grawl shaman on half of my pugs to be fun nor a good investment of my time.
This game is not supposed to punish you for having alts. I did my fractal levels already, and in the previous explorable models I could play my alts freely with my guild group. Why they felt the need to back down from their motto of not separating people and letting people play with their friends and on alts without punishment is beyond me. The explorables worked just fine.
It was also very usefull (and felt like a reward) to be able to switch professions in the middle of a dungeon when needed. Like in AC pug when you need a tank for Detha or Hodgings. I could easily swap to my warrior for the tank part and swap back to my alt after that to finish the dungeon.
It was getting pretty abused. We had some solid metrics on it, and decided to kill the loot from one of the bosses in an attempt to slow it down.
It was indeed a hotfix.
How about you fix the fact that the boss can be afk’ed instead and don’t touch the loot? If people worked for those silvers they should get it right?
It would seem fair to me if you let this way of farming live when people also have a risk of getting downed.
5 wars is the perfect group for ac 3
2 Eles and 2 random people is the perfect group. Ever tried an ice bow on a burrow? 2 attacks and it’s down.
It kinda depends, for a fractal I dont mind 1-1.5hr since you have variation, but as others have mentioned 30-45mins is a nice time for casual playing so you can do dungeons when you have less time.
Today I was with a PUG of four lvl 40-45’s and myself lvl 80. First group didn’t listen… ever… at all… second group was good. Listened, understood, moved fast, respec’d (as much as poss “in-dungeon”), but it still wasn’t enough. Just couldn’t get out enough dmg. Having this dungeon as rec lvl 35 seems a bit ridiculous. Mind you four 80’s can do this no problem.
It all depends on your team and your players, me and my guild have also run this with alts we were levelling no problem. But on the other hand I have done this with PuG 80’s who utterly failed.
People should learn that very little in this game is level based, it all comes down to knowing how to play, teamwork and of course your build and keeping your gears up-to-date. Being in AC as a level50 with level 25 armor just won’t do it.
The way these are balanced is by the dungeon tokens. The gift for the bifrost used to be cheap (when unid dyes were 3s each) but it did require Arah tokens, so there went your extra farming hours. The easier dungeons have the more expensive gifts.

Same problem here with the ‘locked on walking forward’ since forever. It has been happening everywhere and not just in Fractals. I have had the same problem on path 1 of AC where you have to pick up the scepter pieces. Once you remember to release your W key before interacting it is okay though.
Shark tooth weapons – The halloween chainsaw was animated and still fetches a price of 30 gold on the auction house. Shark tooth weapons look bad and arent even a decent weapon type (greatsword remains the vanity weapon of choice).
Be happy that they are trying to change that. People without a greatsword (or multiple characters) want some nice skins as well.

So after all the discussion is it indeed the consensus that as of right now don’t transmute your legendary because it is no longer legendary after the transmute? We are talking transmuting the stats onto the legendary here since the whole point of the legendary is for the looks of it vs alternative best stat items. And to get the stats you want you have to transmute the legendary and not the items before making the legendary? Perhaps I’m worrying about something that won’t matter when I actually go to make one since I’m probably quite a ways from that still.
I don’t see why you shouldn’t transmute? You still get the skin, which is the ONLY thing that legendary has above exotic, AND you get the stats you want with your build. Win-win right?

100% agree.
I lose money on waypoints moving around maps. I lose about 11s per fractal run for repair costs and half the time I break even or n nothing of value drops. So dont tell me to farm there.
Chps and vets drop nothing of use so skip them. I have watched my gold go down for days now. Unless there is some secret that im missing out on here…
The secret is better team play? I run lots of dungeons every day where I don’t die or only die once.
Aren’t there only 2 gift of the traveler per person ?
Per character, so that would mean more characters are needed with world completion.
Now that the only way to get the best gear is to do the new dungeons, what is the point of crafting?

The ascended rings have overall better stats than the exotic rings, the infusion slot is just extra. You can see that in this screensot: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended.
So yeah, even outside of the dungeon, ascended is the better equipment. Plain and simple.

Reading this thread is taking a long time, but I don’t think you need full exotic
The group I was with (those guys were awesome ^^) got through fractals 2 and only tow of us were legit 80s, and one of them dc’ed long before the end. I was (at the time) only level 26.
I’d say the hardest parts were that robot that you have to spill the lava on and figuring out how to kill the eldritch abomination/squid thing, because there was no guide at the time that we did it. I’m glad I wound up with a bunch of smart, funny gamers though because we sussed everything out quite quickly.
It was hella fun
You mean people actually use guides for these mini-dungeons? I just lost all faith in humanity…
I opened about 15 chests now and all I got is breathing mask and shoulder skins… Guildie opened 1 chest and got karka mini pet >.>

All gifts and forge results are account bound, the skillpoint items are soul bound indeed. You can make the gift with your Ranger.
btw, it helps when getting shoddy returns, to switch between toons, there seems to be some internal dr per toon of some sort
There have been a few official statements that there is no dr on salvaging.

Good luck if you really think this is any easier or faster then farming karma. Next time think before making random sarcastic complaints.
Putting gems/runes/whatever into something soulbinds it for whatever reason (not counted if it comes with that inside it, like a ring does).
It even gives a warning that it will soulbind so OP is a fail troll.
I just spent a couple of hours working with people on these dungeons threw pure PuGing (Pick Up Groups). Half the people that join, lie about having full exotic gear, don’t follow orders, suck at puzzles even after explaining to them what needs to be done, or just sit there and act dumb.
I agree this is a pure PvE dungeon and its impressive but this is not PuGable and after trying 2 months forming my own guild for such dungeons like this. I wasn’t able to make guild nor find a decent guild dedicated to this cause.
An absolute fail and boring patch for the next 2 months. GG Arenanet.

And because YOU can’t get a group together this whole update is a fail? The fact about groups says nothing about the update, more about the lack of a lfg system. Also how you failed on making a dungeon guild (which others have succeeded in) is totally irrelevant.
And why would you even ask about exotic gear? It is NOT needed for any dungeon so who cares if anybody lies about it, we run perfect laps with a full team in magic find.
Now, this has no indication of difficulty, but both swamp and aquatic are easy as heck, and the fastest fractals. Whenever I see them Im more than happy.

Yes go ahead, I like this to be a challenge and most of them work good. However the Ascalon one, we have quite an experienced dungeon team but we kept failing and couldn’t find a decent tactic for it. Worst part is that we are unable to hit the ballista with melee attacks, as they would miss. Something went wrong when you fixed the object hitboxes there.
I don’t see anything wrong with it. Prices of precursors dropped 100+ gold already. Obviously the forge increase is significant. Not to mention they said champion/veteran mobs have a higher chance to drop exotics now.
It’s like some people expected ANET to mail them precursors with the message “Happy 2 month anniversary, thanks for complaining on the forums!”. When in reality the change to precursors hasn’t even set in yet. We don’t know if the droprate will lower the prices further, because it’s only been a few hours.
Lol, and you think a change would be noticeable this short after an update? The reason that the prices have dropped is not because of the real effect of this update, but because of human psychology. If you have looked at the prices pre-patch you would see that they were even lower then they are now. People got scared that a precursor would be too easy to get and they dumped them. On the other hand, people didn’t want to spend as much money anymore because of the same reason.
After the patch they read that it was still mf RNG and the precursors are slowly rising again.
It’s also the initial goldrush of “increased chances” that made the rares go up in price this much, they will stabilize in a few weeks when the goldrush has gone down.
Unkittening unbelievable. I’m demanding that all class if blind or if they attacking one invulnerable target get’s their skill under cooldown. Especially channeled skill and AoE type shouldn’t keep going on while under those effect.
Pretty sure that all professions abilities go on cooldown when they cast them while blinded, or a target is invuln.
This is true at least for Necro, Warrior, and Ranger.
Preety sure those skills dont have an HP Bar associated with them, nor a travel distance at the speed of a slug nor do they prevent defensive measures to be activated.
Illusion/clone mechanics keeps getting slapped, because despite having a cool concept, the implementation was crappy as kitten.
Plenty of my abilities on these other classes have long travel time issues, and get obstructed all the time.
Obvious bug is fixed, yet (shockingly) people still cry.
How is it an obvious bug?
1 is an attack that targets an enemy and needs to hit, so you need a LoS.
The other is a spectral being that can move, stays alive and has it’s own target system. So the mesmer can summon a clone/phantasm even if he can’t see the target. It’s the clone that will start searching for the target and the clone that should miss when blinded.
Really what is left of mesmer in PvE if our only decent damage output gets nerfed. Let’s all go mantra support build that has 0 damage output!
I just tried the build, and personalized it a bit but I got easily outhealed by glass canons. I did manage to win from a guardian with a fight lasting a good 5minutes, and I was even able to stop the fight and type in between. :P

But the trait “mender’s purity” did not activate when casting a mantra, and the regen from dwayna signets only activated when using my slot 6 mantra.

Not to change them for everyone, just to give people an option. It’d be great that they let you choose at the beginning, it’d be more significative than a mask that will last just a couple of levels.

I would go all out on CPU and not worry about dual graphics cards. I also don’t know if a 750W supply would run that setup.
With my setup I get 75fps+ outside WvW and 30-60 in WvW depending on situation.

Corsair 1050W Gold 80 plus certWith that setup my CPU is still holding me back on GW2. Thus I’d recommend going for a nice CPU and sticking with 1 GPU for now with the option to upgrade. That being said, I’d go for at least a 1000w PSU and make sure it’s 80 plus cert. That will give you plenty of power when you decide to drop in a second card.
EDIT* I also believe that GW2 isn’t optimized for SLI yet (if it will be)
I have about pretty much the same answer as this guy. Our specs are close and also our results are.
2 things I want to mention: I’m running it all fine with a CM 850w silent pro M2.
And there are also factory watercoolings available like corsair H series or an antec set. These go inside your casing on the place where a fan would be, so that might be an option. Be sure to check compatibility though because the Corsair H80 didn’t fit on my Antec P1 by default.
I have 2 questions:
inspiration trait X – Restorative mantras, it says it heals allies when you cast mantras. Does that make it a healing skill for the runes of Dwayna? Or does only skill slot 6 stay a real “healing skill”?
And second: it says ‘heal allies’, does that include myself? Because the runes of Dwayna specifically say “you and all neaRby allies”. (the R is missing in the ingame description)
I tried AC as well, but I didn’t complete all exp and the story on the same day.
I never run other stories anymore so I don’t know about the rest. Or is it supposed to progress on each path completed?
Not sure if the devs see this as a bug or it’s intended but it sure is annoying.
For melee you should keep moving while fighting and avoid channeled attacks standing still like 100 blades.
For rangers and magers just use as many AoE as you can, if you have an ele ask for a frost bow and use the 4 skill. Keep in mind that it is channeled so don’t move or you cancel the attack.
Also, the skill creates a sphere of projectile reflecting space. An enemy inside the skill attacking someone else who is also inside the skill will have their projectiles reflected. Projectiles don’t have to actually cross the border of the shell to get reflected.

so after 30 TA runs you have:
1 lodestone
7 cores= 3,5 lodestones
15g(50s each run)= 10 lodestones
1800 badges= you can buy 10 exotics from vendor, that you can put in to the mystic forge and get 2,5 exotic for sale on(let say 1,5g each)= 2,5 lodestones
total: 17 lodestones
not bad, so what is your problem??
30 TA runs is like what, 25-30 hours? Spend that time farming lodestone on world mobs and you will be around 25-30 lodestones instead

I know I’m primarily a dagger/dagger thief but I just couldn’t resist that bow as I like ponies (Anet, if you have any ideas of adding in any mounts…
The incinerator looks cool, but still looks too much like a lighter instead of a magical fiery dagger, at least that’s the feel I got.

Everybody with half a mind will want to try to acquire the legendary weapons now.
Why? Because Arenanet have announced that no matter how many tiers they introduce (like Ascended), the Legendary will always be pumped up to be in the best tier.
If we don’t know how many new tiers will be introduced, then we should all be aiming for the legendary so we don’t have to do all the in-between work, surely?

Even though Anet said asended is in between exotic and legendary, ascended basically is above legendary already. Since legendary weapons offer no stat bonus above exotic and ascended does.
But it doesn’t matter because the ascended items are trinkets and legendary are weapons they can not be compared
I still don’t see the problem. New end-game is added which this game lacks imo. The stats aren’t that much better so if you don’t want to grind for the best gear then don’t do it. It hardly matters anyways, I always play my dungeons in a rare magic find set without any problems.
I don’t see the problem? If you want a nice skin you need to pay for it. If you love the skin who cares if the item name is purple or orange? And besides that you will probably transmute the legendary onto an exotic with the correct stats anyways, thus loosing it’s legendary status.
There is a bug with illusions of life aswell.
Used it several times today in dungeons on downed players, however nothing happened.Illusion of life is a pretty bad skill. Unlike the ingenious version of the engineer, it has a super high CD and only works on downed, not defeated allies.
But for your problem, are you sure you set the “field” after the player was downed and the player was in its aoe ? Unlike the engineer version, it has no duration (…) and only works on impact.
Even the warrior banner works a lot better then my mesmer’s illusion. I keep using the banner to res people all the time but the mesmer skill feels so useless.
