I play a female norn with a ponytail, and I have bought the new baby quaggan backpack yesterday. Being all psyched up with my new purchase I started running around and notice how my hair clips through the backpack while running.
This really ruins the effect of the item for me, and it annoys me that you didn’t take care of stuff like this on a paid item.

AC, CM, TA up, SE 3, COF 1 and 2, CoE 1 and 2 and arah 1,2,3 are the easiest dungeons in game. (I never do hotw for some reason so dont know)

In combat the predator is plenty noticeable, since your projectiles become purple and your gun makes a pew pew sound.

omnom bar and hit every 5s graveling = 7s. also never skipping a boss, which I assume is a full run by what you’re saying. add in the odd troll and I am up 4-5g after 3 paths. my guild mate consistently gets 5g+.

and no, this is not counting the rares/exotics that drop. that’s icing on the cake.

path 1:
queen, kholer, end boss = 15s x 3 = 45s
1 champ graveling in the tunnels, too much work for the 7s imo.

path 2:
queen, kholer, end boss = 15s x 3 = 45s
2 champ gravelings = 5s x 2 = 10s

path 3
queen, kholer, end boss = 15s x 3 = 45s
1 champ graveling = 5s

That is 50-55s per path x 3 = 1.6g without omnomberry, add 40% and you are on ~2.3g full run. Please explain how you manage 5g per run, because I would love to double my profit.

You already voted IN FAVOR of RNG with your wallet. Coming here to complain after the fact is pointless.

Just remember next time, if you don’t like RNG, don’t support it in game. That’s the only way to stop ANet from using it in the future.

Exactly why I only bought the dagger winter skins, even though I love the quaggan mini. I didn’t even bother to try and get it because of the insane amount of RNG+cash involved.

Bitfrost looks awesome. The septer and focus though are meh.

Honestly compared to the great swords ALL the other legendaries are lacking.

I prefer incinerator and bolt over great swords any time. And its bifrost btw, there is no T in there.

I’m considering just making it so that the gate won’t open until the oozes are dead because it sounds like problems are caused when trying to skip that mob.

This would effectively increase the time for an AC #2 run by 5-10 minutes or more, and potentially incur additional repair costs for players who can’t avoid the scavenger pounces (in the hallway just before the stairs up to the oozes). These are just trash mob encounters. Remember, most players after the first time just want to complete the run as fast as possible, get their 60 tokens and 26 silver, and head to the next, different exp path they plan to farm in that session.

Is there no other way to fix this bug with Detha?

It takes you 5-10minutes to kill a few ooze? Lolwut

It’s pretty hilarious when you look at that but I guess he meant that you have to kill one group of gravelings, including champion. That’s about 2 minutes more.

But the champion gives up to 7s with food active. Seeing as it takes 2minutes to kill, which is 1/10th of path time, it is better money killing that then completing paths.

I accidentally bought an armor piece with the wrong stats, and I have a gift of zhaitan in my bank while I scrapped bifrost as a goal. Don’t hear me complaining do you?

i spent 25 gold on karka shells only to find out after buying it that you can only equip 1
don’t worry, there are worse cases out there.

I accidentally used my [recipe: gift of souls] while I wanted to see if it would sell for more later in the game. I had to take it out of the bank and right-click sell on tp from my inventory to quickly check on the price. When trying to put it back in I double clicked inventory instead of bank… But it was my own fault, didn’t start crying for a triple safety net.

Path 3 torch event is pretty rough, even for our QA and people know how to do it. I have plans to soften it’s edges a bit (read: nerf), because I honestly can’t get a group to run the darn thing. It can often take long enough to do the first event that you could have done a whole other path if you are in a PuG.
My current plan is to drop it down to 3 torches, so two players who choose tanky/support roles won’t be so punished by the content, and then adjusting the way the spawns behave to provide more of a challenge. (Plans subject to change based on testing feedback)

Have they done the samething for the CM path that has you planting 5 charges at a gate all at once?

Pure chaos works best there, have 1 person randomly throw around kegs and get the other people to keep running kegs. Takes some time but works without wipes.

We’re aware of this bug and I’ve personally already seen to its fix. He was/is indeed attacking with a 240-280 degree arch from his front, so for the time being you will have to get directly behind him to avoid being hit by the screech. This will be fixed!

This just in from OP: Pubs are bad at co-ordination. More at 11.

Whilst this is certainly the case its not even the crux of the problem. They have no NEED to be well coordinated for the purposes of CC alone, simply because Defiant doesn’t integrate well in the success of boss fights. That’s why pubs are bad at coordination, they have no cause for improving it.

So what if bosses had attacks that must be CC’ed? Some pubs will fail, others will start to coordinate to get rid of defiant; we’d run into the issue somewhere down the line that Defiant is clunky and not intuitive.

I believe there are a lot of bosses/objects that were designed with a need to be CC’d – anet did say their trinity was “DPS/Support with a little Control” instead of the standard – but pubs have just found workarounds to it which have become the norm and so nobody wants to experiment with defiant removal.

Take alpha or kholer for example: Big, orchestrated attack with potential to screw everyone over quite briskly. Perfect for being interrupted, but people have gotten mass dodging/aegis use/quickly saving their allies down to an artform that there is no real point complicating things via messing around with CC – it’s just everyone DPS and then save yourselves.

I did like that in the tixx dungeon toxx would heal after she did the spin, so we had to have people either interrupt that or use poison to negate it’s effect or just have 5 warriors

I tried interrupting Kholer but it seemed his pull could not be interrupted.
And for Alpha, he just spams too many of his attacks to be effectively CC’d.

I also posted this suggestion in the necro forums but this may be a better place.

The fear nerf left a lot to be desired for necro gameplay in dungeons. It’s not an issue of power or balance. It’s just that necro is less fun now. There are less decision points in the gameplay.

There are a lot of potential benefits to allowing defiant to be ripped with boon removal…

- Stacking Warriors and Guardians would be less OP relative to diverse groups, since Warriors and Guardians do not remove boons, but they carry pretty much everything else you could want for dungeons.

- Necromancers would have an extremely valuable utility to make them feel unique, since they specialize in boon removal more than other professions.

- Boon removal in general, be it skills or the weapon sigil, would see more usage, giving players of all professions more build diversity.

I made this suggestion in my topic earlier, but the problem with this is not all classes can remove boons. You certainly can’t make necromancers and mesmers a ‘must-have’ class for dungeons nor do Arenanet think Warriors and Guardians are OP, nor should you confine certain classes to certain weapon upgrades.

I suggested making defiant a duration buff where any CC will recharge defiant up to a maximum duration. However, the main problem is that defiant is completely pointless in the grand scheme of things since CC isn’t even necessary for most of the bosses in the game.

You contradict yourself within your own post. At first you state that necro’s and mesmer would become ‘must-have’ because they can remove defiant (if this happens). But afterwards you say that there isn’t even any need to remove defiant (which I agree with). So with your second statement you proved that necro and mesmer (and other boon remove classes) wouldn’t become must-have.

I agree this would be useful to have and I support.

I don’t agree that it needs a nerf, but it does need a fix. Even after doing AC almost daily for a long time I can still get glitched dead by his cone attack that makes no sense.

On the first screenshot I can somewhat understand it, I’m within about 90 degrees from him on his attack.

But the second one? That is more then 180 degrees away from his face and a moderate amount of space between me and the boss.

yesterday twilight was priced 800g on TP. IMO that’s quite cheap considering how much gold you need to invest if you wanted to buy everything needed (what can be bought ofc). On the other hand grinding 800g would take same amount of time and you would get most of the mats needed anyway.

1200g to buy everything that is needed.
And I think it’s a glitch, people have stated they were not able to put their legendary on the TP before. And it is only after last update that a legendary got put on the tp.

I find it amazing that even anet defended the poor design of the dungeon and promissed a fix 2 months ago and you still defend that an aoe bomb takes care of the business :l
Seriously, from a good gameplay point of view how is having unlimited ammount of waves that run into a door and die, a good layout? Furthermore, you have 13 waves total, 3 mobs per wave… how is that remotely logical? All other paths are doable… and you state that this one starts with an aoe dps test?..

The design is that you trigger an alarm and there are guards patrolling the path, what is so weird to understand? It’s not like you would send 3 guards past a path once and then deactivate the alarm, would you?

which is easy to rework, a simple solution to that would be a 30m window where if you were to sell the item back to the npc( any npc) , you’d be given your tokens back.

That’s how star wars the old republic did and camon, that’s not even a game as good as guild wars 2.

this is a good idea. even better, they should simply make it an “infinite amount of time” to re-exchange something for tokens, as long as you haven’t equipped it yet.

i say this because i can imagine someone purchasing the wrong the late at night, then going straight to sleep, then waking up the next day & realizing they messed up.

People should learn to think twice before making “important” decisions and not rely on others to prevent them from kittening up.

Every precursor has another exotic ingame with the same skin. This is done so that there isn’t a need for unique skins driving up demand (and the prices) of precursors even more. I don’t know which of the 2 guns that is, but there are no added extra effects.

Destroyer Core/Loadstone farming unbalanced

Actually, Destroyer Cores/Lodestones are one of the easiest to farm. In Fractals of the Mists, the Dredge fractal drops an incredible number of consumables called “Heavy Miner Bags”. In any given run I get 2-3 Cores / 1-2 Lodestones from these bags (I usually pick up 20-25 of these bags per run). Granted, when doing FotM, you won’t always get the Dredge fractal, when you do, it’s a goldmine! I definitely recommend it for anyone going for these Lodestones.

These bags are one of the primary things keeping these Lodestones from getting super expensive despite how many things they are used for. I imagine the more people doing FotM, the cheaper they’ll get, too. It’s rather exciting for me.

All I got from dredge fractal was 1 glacial lodestone. I got a few of those bags, but no destroyer stuff.

Farming Nodes Changing?

It happens if that particular zone crashes and restarts, which happens more often than you would think.

This makes sort of sense, since I have seen it happen to specific zones as well (mostly malchors). But wouldn’t players notice it happening? I have never seen somebody complain about getting booted from a map because it reset/crashed.

If you can find someone willing to carry a level 35 with limited traits and poor gear then go right ahead.

Instead of handicapping dungeons and relying on others to carry me, personally I prefer doing starter zones to get to 20, grinding centaurs until 30, level a craft to 40, grind centaurs to 50, second craft to 60, a mix of Sparkfly and Maelstrom meta events to 70, then Orr to 80. I can get 2 levels an hour this way.

But I guess handicapping pugs and having others carry you to 80 works too.

Seriously what a waste of forum space is this post. If you still don’t understand that the player is of value, and barely the gear then maybe this isn’t the right game for you. I am more then capable of being helpful to my team on an alt which I am leveling and can (often easily) manage pugs with 1 or more lower levels. Even when these lower levels run dungeons for the first time the runs are often smooth.

Please take that elitism to some other game where the community is already ruined.

Repeating the same path on the same day results in lower tokens granted. This has always been the case ever since the 60 token system. You got lucky that they gave you 30 tokens, if you did it on the same character it would only be 20.

I pretty much level my alts through dungeons. A group with 4 of 80ies in mainly exotic gear that knows what they are doing + my alt, but aint running the optimal group setup:
1) full AC run = 1 hour 15-25 mins.
2) full CM run = 1 hour 30-45 mins.
3) CoF path 1+2 = 1 hour.
4) Hotw path 1 = 30-40 mins
Note: killing all sub bosses and “gold/coin” mobs, skipping slivers that aint dropping phat loot.

Result = a bit over 7 levels in 4-5 hours, and we aint the fastest guys around.

Thats pretty much “our” alt XP grind setup. After getting 10+ levels, get 1+2 guys to assist you and go and blast through the story mode of the alt, getting a pretty good XP payoff for easy work.

EDIT:
remember to use XP boosters and food.

So… why do you include HoTW and CoF in the levelling cycle of an alt? I don’t see my level40 ranger go in there to level up. Or do you get boosted by your friends and stay afk?

OneManArmy has it right. From what I understand you can run 4 path’s within 2 hours, then you get 30 tokens on the 5th run (It’s what I just did).

I’m just curious how long I have to wait to get full reward again for a different dungeon, because running other dungeons also gives me 30 tokens. I know it has a timer, but I’m unsure how long, 1 hour or 2 hours? Anyone know?

Long story short, I run a few different dungeon paths everyday that take anywhere from 20-30 minutes.

I have 2x 80s and 1x 52 right now, so run a couple 80 dungeons twice and AC path two 3 times a day.

Before tonight’s patch, I would always get 60 tokens per path per character and never experienced DR.

After tonight’s patch, I just ran 5 dungeon runs across my 3 chars. 2 on two different characters, and one on my 3rd character.

First 3 runs I got the normal 60 tokens, but last 2 runs I just did I only got 30 tokens. Is this intentional now?

This has always been the case for me.

iirc, officials mentioned that Kholer is supposed to be an optional boss. which now gives some loot, a chest, as well as the convenience of a central WP. he was never needed to advance any of the paths.

i think in your instance may have been a one time bug? did you report it?
usually you can just run past Kholer and will be fine.

As he said, Kholer has been said to be optional by choice. If there really was no way to advance then this is more then likely a bug.

It’s the way I traint my alts: do 1-15 in open world, 15-35 with crafting and then start doing AC for exp and help friends in other dungeons until 80.

To answer the rest of your questions:
AC will stay the easiest xp, with a good (and experienced) team CM can be doable as well. Other dungeons that can be run very fast without much experience are CoF 1 and 2. SE path3 isn’t too difficult either, but it takes a bit more time.
And dungeon xp for AC won’t lower because you reach ‘too high’ level, it will always stay ~75% of you current level.

Ah-ha, so since it’s always 75% of my level it seems like with a solid group this WOULD be the quickest way to level up!

If you run the same dungeon continuously, after 5-6 runs you will get no xp

The DR (diminishing return) on the xp resets after 2hours. So lets say you do 1 AC path in 20-30minutes:
path 1, full xp, 30minutes in.
path 2, full xp, 50minutes in.
path 3, full xp, 1hr 20minutes in.
path 1, lowered xp because it has only been 1hour since last completion of path 1. You would need a 1h break so the 2hr DR resets.

Feedback and mimic do nothing on lupi his bolts/aoe.

I’m not surprised Feedback doesn’t work normally because projectiles start much higher. However, have you actually tried standing inside the bubble in melee-range?

You might have a point there I know feedback does work on his spam attack when he is in phase 3. The revive with feedback trait can help a lot there.

Yep, i had the same idea and im trying to get my mesmer alt from 60 to 80 and test it out. Biggest concern would be that im not sure how feedback and mirror interacts with his noscope shot and aoe, but you analyzed that pretty similar to me.
I played the Ele for duoing lupi with Weth (allthough now he doesnt need me anymore) and Invulnerability/Projectile absorb aswell as endurance regen are key.

Feedback and mimic do nothing on lupi his bolts/aoe.

Nah, they had 5 GS warriors with Eternity and ascended zerker gear and just waved their swords at her.

She’s getting invulnerability now when she stealths. So i doubt that they were doing like that.

So instead of fixing a fight they change the basic game mechanics of stealth on a mob? Very weird…

Precursor scavenger hunt

I’ll not go into the personal vendetta above, I just wanted to comment on Lucas’ idea:

I’d really prefer a set path for obtaining a legendary over the RNG. random drops should help you cut the path short, even skipping large parts of it (i.e. if you get a precursor), but the path should work without any luck (some people just don’t have it).
right now it’s pretty much a path, only it’s just grind: grind there for several days/weeks, then move on and grind in another area to get your next items on the list. it’s highly random, mostly grind and the only way to spice it up is by grinding in another area and using the money to buy stuff from the tp. your you can (ab)use the tp to make money – at least that’s challenging and takes some intelligence so I’m not entirely against it, even if I don’t like to do it.

If there was a path with elements like:

  • escort 50 patrols (there are multiple quests like this all over the world)
  • save a 100 villages from destruction
  • fight the secret champion mob in the thaumanova reactor (the key would have to be obtainable without luck ofc)
  • master dungeon X
  • find 20 pages of book Y in the world (fixed location, easy to read up but still fun for people who like scavenger hunts)
  • climb the highest mountain
  • gather kelp from the deepest abyss

etc it would help get players into all maps, be a real challenge instead of pure grind and most importantly, it would be fun! you could measure your progress and feel like you accomplished something. grinding is a very unsatisfactory way of spending your free time.

I’m all for allowing grind to be a way for getting a legendary, just not the only way. players want alternative ways of accomplishing something. In a highly customizable game (builds, classes, looks etc) there should also be alternative styles of gameplay..

What you want is a “welfare legendary” system, one that guarantees a precursor or a complete legendary (lol?). Sure, I think Anet sure please people like you, but these legendaries should be less flashy than the current ones. In fact, they should look boring but just have a purple text in the item description Why should the current legendary owners go through what they did to get it and see bunch of people just wait in line with some quests following step by step guide to get one so easily?

Please tell me what is less legendary on doing that massive amount of tasks over abusing some lvl65 rare mystic forge glitch?

Again, completely missing the point. It is not about the programming it’s mainly about the design. Yes, it is a moderate amount of coding work depending on how it will be implemented, but that won’t be anything special for the developers.

You got unlucky, unfortunately. To my knowledge, rares level 70+ can give 0 to 3 ecto when salvaged, weighted toward the 0 end. You can use master kits, your luck will turn around. Otherwise, complete daily reward, they have a small chance to give you a black lion kit.

Level 68+, not 70.
And as far as I know the tier of salvage kits does not matter, people have gotten globs by salvaging with the most basic kit that has 0% chance on rarer materials. The rare materials chance only affect upgrades to t6 mats like ori and ancient wood.

You can’t even spell the legendary weapon you have correctly? Something smells fishy here…

At the moment, Mjolnir is a better looking exotic than the legendary Juggernaut to the point of shaming it…but yes, apart from sword/greatswords, all other legendaries need quite a bit of tuning up.

Good going for Anet for not shelving this problem!

It’s just a matter of taste, they all have different looks and not every look can suite very player. That doesn’t necessarily make them less amazing then the other.

Well mister impatient, if you can come up with a design for such a scavenger hunt that will:
A) Keep the majority of players happy
B) Don’t influence the game too much (like people are expecting easy to get, free precursors now)
C) Feel like a journey/fun instead of another ‘chore’ for your legendary

then please tell that here to anet, so that they can develop it and implement it.

Free? Obiouvsly the scavenger hunt must be designed to allow the player to get, following the path, all the mats needed to craft his legendary, from 1st to last mat needed. Obiouvsly, everything you get (mats included) following the path is accountbound not resellable, . Ah wait, i guess we will never see an update with such a sense.

What I was saying with my post is that it takes a really long time to even design a scavenger hunt like this without breaking the game. Including a path that gets you everything from a legendary would make that task even more impossible, so my question to you: did you even read and understand my post?

I think drop rate for giant eye must be bugged. No other item outside precursor seems this rare.

I think giant eyes are the lodestone replacement for Arah, and lodestones from dungeon chests are also really rare. Combine that with Arah dungeon where paths take 1.5hrs+ to finish and it being the only way to obtain them… Giant eyes are actually really cheap if you look at it that way.
