hello, i have multiple level 80 toons with multiple max crafts and i am looking for a guild that has any form of karma buffs that can aleive my 2m karma grind x.x, i don’t mind switching servers either.
Being stupid with your money and making bad gambling decisions on the mystic forge is no reason to complain. Doing it the right way you can actually MAKE money gambling on precursors in the mystic forge even when you don’t get a precursor. Then when you hit on a precursor its big bucks.

I’m not going to spoon feed my methods to the community so that my profit margins can dry up. Spend an hour or two figuring it out for yourself and share in the profits if you wish. I currently make in the range of -5silver to +90silver per combine while attempting to get precursors. Just buying up level 80 exotics off the TP and throwing them into the forge is stupid and no reason to complain when you fail.
ill pass, i already know how to make gold and do not need a get rich quick pyrmaid scheme, however that has almost nothing to do with the fact that the rate of precursors with exotics; which should have the highest chance of getting a precursor still sucks. no one asked you to spoon feed your methods as it would not even work if everyone knew it meaning it isnt really a solution, there are people who prob make a whole lot more gold than you do but know the MF system sucks, that gold/profit is no justification of the low rate at which the forge churns out pre cursors, i wonder what conclusion you would arrive at if and when your idea ceases to be profitable and the rate of precursors remain the same.
This thread is no longer about QQing that the great swords are better than the rest.
It is now about thinking of NEW legendaries for the other weapon types in a similar vein to the crafting of eternity.
ie light + dark = combined third legendary since there are 3 great swords its not unreasonable to consider them adding more of the others to balance it out
since there’s a lot of asking for darker legendary weapons how about the following
new shortbow : the nightmare
instead of rainbows it shoots shadows simmilar to necromancer staff 1
causes light from fire ie torches etc to flicker more than usual
no footsteps but makes the players shadow monstrous and darker regardless of lighting
the dreamer + the nightmare = the chaotic dream
the appearance and effects of the bow vary depending on which boons you have more of ie fury retaliation might = nightmare; swiftness regen protection = dreamer

If you don’t like how they look don’t spend the hundreds of hours and gold to get one.
Anyone who leaves a game because it’s time-consuming to get a cosmetic weapon skin they don’t even like has some serious issues.
I think the my little pony bow is hillarious and one of the best items I’ve ever seen in an MMO.
aside from your last line which i respect as your opinion(although i think it is interesting that you like it but you are also able to equate a “legendary” wep to my little pony and hilarious and not see why the norm would not want this wep), its almost as if you didn’t read any of the responses before posting.
since apparently i cant edit my own post, i also wonder how some of these wep were "ok’d " to be legendary………..no offence to whoever developed them but……….i am disappoint lol.
Anet would rather appease the Bots than the players.
They don’t want to make the Bots mad by doing something about the Precursors because then the Bots wouldn’t keep buying (“stealing”) tons of accounts from Anet to keep on Botting.
Who would be mad if Anet did something about the precursor issues.
1) Bots
2) Exploiters who exploited the bug with low level rares
3) The select few who actually got lucky enough to get a Precursor for 20g (and even then the ones they bought were probably created because of the bugs)
4) The super select few who actually got a legendary post bugs fix by getting their precursor from a drop or the MF and actually aquired it the right way (Probably less than 10 people world wide)
Who would be happy if Anet did something about the precursors.

20g for precursor? Must be nice, I went through 42g just today. Im the kinda person who eats one thing on their plate before moving onto the next thing. I chose precursor to be my starting point. I’m 186g deep and no precursor.
i know that feel x.x, however after losing gold with nothing to show time and time again, i decided to just go get my 500 arah dungeon tokens first (i made 2 arah sets tht i prob shouldnt have), and 1m karma in hopes that by the time im finished something is done about precursor and if not ill just cut my losses and buy it from trading post.
Yeah, making them account bound would likely anger more of the people who get them, without really helping anyone. Get Dusk but wanted Dawn? Too bad. Get one you can’t use as a boss drop or by combining different item types in the forge? Too bad. Already have Dawn, trying to get Dusk to make Eternity, get another Dawn instead? Too bad.
Meanwhile every single person who would rather just buy a precursor instead of having to deal with RNG is also suddenly out of luck.
basically sums up why i wouldnt like this idea, not that it matters since i have the worst luck with the forge lol.

lol what? legendaries like dreamer, and quip are just plain silly to me, yes me. to me they dont feel legendary, they feel more like easter egg drops or teasers. things like bifrost of sunrise, or the hammer legendary FEEL legendary to me. as someone stated earlier there will be some people who like them but i don’t think a majority of players will. heck “IMO” they dont even fit the lore, its not about being omega emo lol sunrise doesnt even look emo it looks epic, isnt that what legendaries supp to be?
and to people who say if you think they are not “manly” dont farm them. well no kittenwe dont have to farm them, which is precisly why we are on forum asking for a change. personally i like the bifrost and intend to get it for my mesmer, at the same time “I” understand how necromancers would not feel the same way as it kind of does not match the feel on a necro. does not mean im going to bash them into the ground with baseless arguments, because if i actually had a necro i would prob have the same issues some of them do.

it isnt insane in the least bit. because it happens all the time every day. or do you think nothing if you i dont know saw a man wearing short shorts or a pink skirt, or what the general reaction to something like that regardless of weather it was right or wrong. people assign gender to things everyday and yes actually it is normal.

threw another 750 weapons into the forge. i think i have used about 3,000 weapons now. i can offically say i am over it lol. i do not know if i am just the most unlucky player or what. anywho i have been beaten, if i throw anymore into the mystic forge knowing full well some people have gotten it on their first try, i just might quit the game. im just going to finish farming my mats, buy precursor and call it a day. good job lindsey or whoever designed thism im having so much fun.
what if rng is rng, but instead for every acheivement (hard ones) like doing all arah runs or every single dungeon runs, WvW etc it increases your chance to attain your precursor from forge. obv not by alot but it atleast keeps the Rng factors that you seem to love, but slightly rewards skilled players. just free balling here, better than no idea x.x
So you played for a total of 31.5 days on your characters over the last 56 days and have had only 24.5 days worth of not playing. Guessing you got 8 hours of sleep each day, you spent 196 hours asleep when not playing. That leaves only 392 hours of work/school/not playing. While you had spent 756 hours of the time in 56 days playing the game. In 56 days there is only 1,344 hours. That is a seriously bad addiction.
So I’m guessing any pistol users wanting to have something that basically screams awesomeness are kitten out of luck.
I doubt even most mesmers would be caught dead using this circus act.
I don’t know about you, but owning people in WvW with basically a plastic toy that shoots confetti is pretty awesome and hilarious. It’s great for Thieves and Engineers, not so much for Mesmers though.
why is this the only comeback that exists for both the quip, and the dreamer? literally go search for teh shortbow version and u will find an almost identical retort to this. it is a very weak one at that.
up to you personally. i use staff as a must then my other hand is either sword + focus or sceptor + sword. my armor is a mix of power vitality cond dmg + precision cond dmg toughness. as for pve i have a lv80 theif and i can say levleing with mesmer was much much easier (u dont nuke well with my build, but u dont die either). as for dungeons mesmers shine, and in wvw i have yet to lose a 1v1 or 1v2.
600+ hours played , 1400 items in the forge. What’s the result ? Nothing at all. When I see people getting it so easily, it makes me crazy! I have the feeling that i wasted lot of time.

Please, don’t change this to something easy, like you guys have a tendency to do.

the recipe for wall of mists sometimes gives lidless eye. the recipe does not even make sense 250 blood, 1 giant eye?!? eldrich scroll and mystic coin. id assume prob try a glob and a shield component and see if it fits. anywho the eye is weird lookin:

1k Swords at 14.5 silver each you spent 145g, if you crafted them yourself.
Subtract a third for forge swords and you’re at less than a hundred gold spent.
The average price for Dusk is almost 4x what you spent total.
Let’s say you had gotten one for that investiment. I guarantee you you would have sold instead of crafting your legendary as you could have made enough to make 3 more.
Now, someone who’s good with probabilities do the math for me as I’m not. Since there are at least 20 different exotics that could come from forging 4 rares and the chance of getting an exotic is between 10 and 20%, go with 15, what are the odds of getting the one you want? There, now ou can guestimate the average number it will take.
And I’m not even going to bring up the 200 exotics you’ve used as that is more than enough gold to purchase one.
ok…… i stated earlier yes i could have simply purchased my pre cursor however, in all of gw2 i have never purchased a weapon or armor or even accessory to wear, i either crafted them myself, did a dungeon for it, or a friend made it for me. even now i could purchase it if i wanted to but that isnt the point. why have a rate thats so stupendously low? there are people who have put in more than i have and just straight up quit and go back to other games that i wont mention. i am questioning the “mystic toilet”. im not saying you are wrong and in the end if i am still around and feel the urge to still get it i may end up just purchasing it but it still does not mean experiences like these are not excatly what anet sold to us when they advertised their game.

If anyone was wondering how I went from 30g to 600g in less than a week, it was from crafting and selling tens of thousands of Carrion Krait Slayer swords back when the profit margin was close to 3-4s/sword sold (around the 23-24s/sword mark on gw2spidy.com).
95% market share helped too.
Protip: If you’re going to combine 4000 swords (assuming this is 1000 combines), you should probably just train weaponsmithing up and save yourself 100s of gold in production costs. You paid about 25% more than you needed to.
It’s kinda hard to feel sorry for you wasting money when you don’t think things through before you do them.

even at that yes i could have just purchased my pre cursor from trading post if i wanted to but since beta i wanted to create my legendary, little did i know i would be in for a treat lol..

I think the issue here is that you are focusing way too heavily on the mystic forge. You’d be better off looking at the journey (doing dungeons with friends, going through Orr, fighting the claw of jormag, ect) and treat the mystic forge as something to do with your down time.
Yeah, if you play the game like it’s a grind, then you won’t have fun. It’s not Anet’s fault you decided to farm the same location endlessly to get the skin.
