Elementalist Burst combo – You can chain many instant cast abilities together and affectively do what any dagger thief does and bring someone from 100-0 in split seconds, but as an elementalist you bring so much more to a team than a dagger thief. Arcane spells are to blame in my opinion. Weaken arcane spell damage drastically (100% – 125% less damage) but give them some kind of utility. Say… make elemental surge base line? Just reduce the burning to 3 seconds. 5 seconds would be too strong. And maybe make air spells 2 seconds of weakness because so much access to blinds is also pretty crazy. Yeah just tone down the base line elemental surge and all is well.
Just to add in some practical evidence.
And yea, stealth can only be balanced by removing it.
A glass cannon ele “one-shotting” a glass cannon mesmer..who was sleeping and didn’t see a flashy dwarf with fire armor walking up the ramp …what kind of evidence is this?
this is one of the things phantaram already mentioned 1st the stealthduration : helseth didn’t saw mogow because he was in superlong stealth otherwise i am pretty sure helseth would have beaten mogow 1v1.
the burst of offele yea hits pretty hard: as offele u have to press 9 buttons in a certain row and u need positioning and timing u cannot compare it to a 3 pressing s/dthief but u can see the teleport and then dodge/mistform. a thief in stealth is harder too evade…
the other thing is my role as a support/rez/healbunkerelementalist got destroyed (me (mainele from mim), hyx (ele from denial/tcg ), epily, demo…) had to adapt onto offensivemode-ele or playing a completely different role/ class.
the best teams in europe already play a 4 roamer 1 guard setup .a bunkerele cant hold a point in 1v1 vs a necro, s/dthief or engineer, now it is even better: bunkerele just dies vs that classes except engi… to heal people and rez people it is atm absolutely impossible because of that kittening condition aoepressure.
imo necro (wins all 1v1 easily, best range 1200 aoe crowdcontrols, overconditioning)
& s/dthief (except vs necro one of best classes , mobility , pressuredamage and survivability( how many dodges , evasive skills, teleportskills and stealth u will give the thief in future ?? …) are too strong.
engi is near boarderline (the selfstealth is too long enemy team cant see where engi goes) but requires at least skill…
yea, an antistealthskill would be nice on a ranger maybe or another supporter….

maybe you just aren’t a high tier pvp player if you are having problems coping with the mechanics of your opponent?
shy of combo field control, i believe, there isn’t a single thing that an engineer can do that another class cannot also do, if not better.

I think that this silence is probably meaning ANet is trying to figure out how to fix this.
I’m gonna be straight forward, non-18 year olds are probably going to have their hearts broken. It’s just the legal system. Please don’t blame ANet.
However. This region system may fix itself if the teams attempting to go can supply their flights/hotels. I’m not sure on this, but as Xeph said that aspect isn’t a legal barrier. The minors issue is, however.
And Ultima. NA is ready to kick MiM’s kitten :p

Age restrictions: The reason for the 18 is due to travel/hotel requirements.
For regions: we hope to expand those as we go forward with future tournaments.
More details: There will be additional details/rules coming in the near future, as mentioned in the last section of the announcement.
Balance: We are being VERY careful w/ balance between now and the tournament so you guys don’t have builds changing every patch. This is why we did the larger balance patch last month – we wanted to do smaller and smaller changes as we get closer to the tourney. Blind
The change to blind was really needed, as a thief I wasn’t caring much about blinds. right now I think that blind is good and to balance it, it should have a fixed duration for every application so you have the option to wait out the blind instead of removing the condition or to miss an attack. I think a duration of 2, maybe 3 seconds should be enough for that. When you take 3 seconds you can still savestomp 5 out of 8 classes.Those two big changes really changed the game pretty much for us, but that wasn’t all what happened on our doomsday.
Conditionlineups popped up all over the place with a now pretty strong necro and the synergy with engineers. Before the patch you could counter conditions (what should be more sustained DPS) with coordinated bursts, but with the recent buffs to conditions and conditionclasses you cant really counter them anymore and the damage they deal feels pretty bursty too.
On a sidenote: Torment is fine. Its a good condition but probably better for meleeclasses like warrior or thief and not for necromancers. As a melee you want to punish someone for moving/kiting you and try to keep him at your place. A necromancer has already more than enough tools to kite enemys and deal damage to them. They shouldn’t have a condition that deals even more damage when you try to stick to them.
On top of the mentioned changes Ranger got deleted from competitive tPvP because the only viable spec (BM/Bunker) cant deal enough damage anymore to actually win 1on1 fights. The always strong Engineer on the other hand wasn’t touched too much (expect the R change) and the Necromancer rose to the new QQ target, but that for obvious reasons.
Here i am listing skills that are in our opinion too strong or not working correctly, i considered talking about skills that are too weak but i think that would be too much and even without those most people will fear the wall of text im writing:

The first one is that you can put it anywhere on the map and activate Nature’s Renewal (NR) from an infinite range. For Example on Forest of Niflhel you can set the Spirit of Nature (SoN) behind the Keep and rush back to Henge to defend it and just trigger NR while you are defending that point. In our opinion the activation of FN should have a range. Say you need to be in a 900 – 1.500 unit range to the Spirit to be able to cast it.
The second problem is that FN has no Line of Sight (LoS) check. You actually can place it behind the Keep (bottom of the stairs) and resurrect downed Players at the Cappoint while the other team can’t do anything about it. It would mean that for the duration of the Spirit you can’t attack this point and that’s huge. On Battle of Khylo SoN is at least as bad as on Forest of Niflhel. In the “old” Meta Ranger was defending close or attacking far, so in most cases you don’t have someone on him all the time and you cant afford that someone is spirithunting all the time either. He can just set the spirit below the Clocktower and resurrect people that are downed inside it. Give FN a LoS Check (Spirit to downed Player, not Spirit to Ranger) to fix this, in our opinion, broken spell.
if u have seen my pyramidthingy :
ranger is strong with spirits (survivability and damage) and that op rezelite and the dodging/healing/condicleaningability…. especially in small fights 1v1 2v2 3v3 if anet fixes necro it will be able to hold close and push far… the same with bunkerele, a bunkerele has no chance vs a wellplayed necro with corrupt boon….. impossible to hold….
s/d thief is strong (high constantdamage, good survivability, great mobility, can kill bunkers solo) ! d/d maybe a small buff (lacks survivability)…
i want a perfect balanced meta :
bunker, support, 3 roamer (power, or condis)
i dont want 5 necros/engis :/

Necro killed this game for me. Playing as a meditation guardian I just didn’t get a look in. It had an answer for anything. I gap close in, it turned blindness against me. I block with focus,..its marks were unblockable..I judges intervention in,..it feared me away..I smited condition, so now only the other 7 to deal with. I converted the huge condition stack to boons…had them corrupted. By the time I was doing damage..they swapped out to alt lifeforce bar and tormented/feared me to death.
It felted “balanced”. Pvp in this game has turned me off all of guild wars 2 in under 3 months.
So you expect to counter everything other people do, but when someone does that to you, you quit the game? That makes sense.
@Ultima Everything you describe was available to necros before the patch. What has changed?
Weakness: Changed from 50% fumble on regular attacks to 50% fumble on all attacks. Now only stacks up to 5 times (still stacks duration).
Torment: Added a new condition called Torment. This does damage every second (75% of bleeding) and double damage to foes that are moving (150% of bleeding). Stacks intensity.
Putrid Curse: Increased the poison duration from 2 seconds to 4 seconds.
Necrotic Bite: Increased the life force gain from 4 to 6.
Spectral Wall: Normalized the amount of protection gained to 5 seconds for allies. Replaced the vulnerability with a 1-second fear when enemies try to cross the wall. Added 4% life force gain on hit.
Death Shroud: Bone Fiend and Shadow Fiend now regenerate outside of combat.
New ability #5 – Tainted Shackles: This skill tethers all enemies within a 600 range, constantly dealing torment to them over time. At the end of the cast, Dark Binding immobilizes all affected enemies still within the radius.
Life Blast: This skill now scales based on range instead of amount of life force. At more than 600 units, this skill’s low value has been increased by 43%; at less than 600 units, this skill uses the old high value. Range has been increased to 1200.
Doom: This skill now scales based on range. If more than 600 units, it will apply 1 second of fear; If less than 600 units, it will apply 1.5 seconds of fear. This ability now lists the damage it deals to enemy targets.
Terror: This trait has been moved to the Master tier.
New Grandmaster trait—Dhuumfire: Players can inflict burning to opponents for 4 seconds on critical hit. This effect can only occur once every 10 seconds. and much more changes…
i play mainly elementalist (but i took a big look into all classes!) .. the s/d thief is a strong build
but my ratings which classes are superior include the following points: 1v1-, 2v2-, teamfightpotential (this is a 3-node 4-node or sometimes also a 5-nodefightgame), dps (powerburst,condiburst) , cc &knockouts &blinds, range, mobility, tankyness (including heathpools, toughness, blocks), heals , boons, debunkerpotential, nodefighterpotential, access to stability, rezpotential, playstyle…
the necro is the übermensch because of the doubleaccess to a 1200 range aoefear ! / and the doubleaccess to a 1200 range cripple /chill. if u come in 900 range he can fear u a third time, in 600 range he dazes u (4 sec on 25 1/2 sec cd) , then in deathshroud fear cd is over so fear again , while this happens u get overkilled by 666 conditions unable to cleanse em all (good necro covers…) while being stripped of all ur boons. the condidps is properly played too high and then the necro can just epidemic to all people. if u split 3 necros to all 3 nodes they can neutralize a point easily (fear), kill all classes in 1v1/2v2 fast! and hold a node (stabilityaccess due to plague, or spectral walk…), take mates condis and spread them to the enemy (plague signet, putrid mark)…. but although the superrangeaoeccclass isn’t enough it also has a second/third healthpool (deathshroud, plague) which makes it tanky able to disengage…
in a professional hand this class i a master of ranged aoecrowdcontrol & aoecondiburst & conditionhandling ! u will be a puppet vs a top necro, u will never be able to control ur class :/

There are so many things wrong with that pyramid it quite literally made me lol. If you think thieves are near the top and guardians /elementalist are near the bottom you need some more experience under your belt before you qq.

right atm on highskilllevel u see advantages in condiplay due to necros aoe condiburst (too much condis to clean..) their tankyness (second healthpool) and their cc (fear) if they combine their profession with stunbreaker it becomes too strong. i always thought condis were damage over time… but atm the condi is more a burst… right atm the important condis: burn confusion, poison , highbleedstacks were too good covered…
the engineer does the roamerjob and can also neutralize, hold and get nodes …: highcondiburst, cc, tankyness due to rabid amulett, this selfrez (cleanses all condis) which gives the engi 2 continues ( are u kidding me anet?) very strong mobility and access to stability…
how do you counter condimeta? highhealthpoolchars, condicleaner, boons(regeneration..), heals and necros, special sigils and runes
the problem is condis are not affected by any toughnessstats while powerbased chars are affected to toughness, protection & weakness… if u run a powerclass u mainly have low health (ele , guardian, thief). unfortunately the battlemode is a 3 node game.. and if u split ur team u will have 1v1 3v3 1v1 or 2v2v 2v2 1v1 and condiclasses are just better in this fights, more survivability than powerchars (in health and toughness).
imo in a 1v1 a perfect played necro will beat every player so kittening hard! he can kill solo all bunker without a problem very fast !
if arenanet wont fix this meta. i have a classsetup in my head. u will vomit if u see it..
this patch was a punch in the faces of all powerbasedbuilds especially for the warrior, ele thief and guardian :/

Minor trait in water heals as much as the dodgeroll if i remember and you can get to pick another cond cleanse trait like stop drop and roll which makes sure you remove burning.
I just really dont know if 1.1 sec more cd for the 3 attunements and loss of evasive arcana outweights the lose healing ripple and another water trait plus 1000hp/100 heal.
y good question: it is pretty balanced but i guess some people wan switch faster attunements and want to have a chance to inflict a condition when they crit + ability to make damage with evasive arcana(burn),blind, cripple and heal mates
0 30 0 10 30 offensive s/d dagger will be more dps but loose 1000 hp /100 heal and the heal by switching to water attunement. so more dps but less survival (fits more for roamerbuild)
but i really love they switched rock solidtrait to mastertrait .. 0 0 20 20 30 can be viable bunker/heal/support (2,6-3 sec stability all 10 sec! greatboongiver) (IAM GONNA PLAY THIS when patch hits..)
what i also like windborne dagger give d/d builds 25% mobility thats pretty good since meleeclasses lack mobility/range

u must be a hardcoregamer and someone who watches streams /others players to improve and adapt ur playingstyle (the best stuff u learn from ur enemys…). know what other classes can do and how to counter them. u must bring time for training and dont fight shy of criticism. we gonna try to make our playingstyle evolve piece by piece.

maybe for next future tournaments u should put from the view on leaderboard team 1 on the upper bracket position 1; the second best team on leaderboard on the lower bracket last position. 3rd team from leaderboard lower bracket first position. 4th team from leader board upper bracket last position . rest teams put them random.
in this way u prevent that we have finals in the second round and third rounds….
but yea the eliminati told me that idle and paradigm are the favs for this tourney
but of course every team can loose…

suldaris is not macroing but some teams like forsaker’s team report suldaris right when the tourney starts (i watched his streams)….. but now u can watch him play and learn on my team’s server :/

They have allot of very high powered aoe and even with full dps traits you can take a beating. off hand axe 15×2300 gs 8×3800 long bow F1 is freaking crazy dps and huge radius don’t have the numbers though. They also have a ton of cc I just don’t see the weakness I think they just need to be played like a mesmer where you have an ok chance to win one on one but in a group over a node its game over.

No top premade runs a warrior.
No one in the top 50 of the leaderboard plays a warrior.
No one i have ever premaded with thinks warriors are in a good place.The vast majority of the community feels this way.
You should reconsider your opinion and try out some of the top tier specs if you seriously feel warriors are comparable to all the other classes because I’m sure anyone who has ever played a warrior competitively and is reading this would want to slap you for the faint faint chance that a dev will read this, take you seriously, and put off a potential buff.
my team is playing with warrior . i love the warriorclass. but yea it needs a buff…
