Grandmaster of Om is just an achievement for beating all the masters.
The title achievement can be found in the activity section, and requires you to play against other player etc.

Assuming your are using windows (like most players);
Did you check resmon (Windows+R → enter “resmon”)?

Using the network overview, I filtered GW2, went to Lion’s Arch Mystic Plaza waypoint and took a look at network activity:
~5kb/s average, which would be 18000kb/h or ~17.57mb per hour.
That would correlate almost perfectly with your 15mb per hour average.

Armor and Mitigation

in Warrior

Also the absolute base defense is 1836 which is for light armored classes.

Everything above that is already counting towards reduction.

Yes, warrior wears heavy armor, but if you want compareable numbers you have to use the lowest possible amount (other classes can go above that 1836, but warrior cannot go below 2127).

And yes, to halve the damage you get on your current armor, you of course have to double the amount of armor.
This is a standard way of doing armor mitigation. Everything else could resolve in some unwanted aspects of buffs etc. giving so much defense that they trivialize every encounter possible.
You have to see this like this:
At X armor you get 1000 damage. You have 10000 health, so you survive 10 hits.
At X*2 armor you get 500 damage. With 10000 health again, you would now surive 20 hits.
Doubling this again:
(X*2)*2 armor = 250 damage. With 10000 health yet again you would survive 40 hits (which is also double the amount).
From the first point it seems like doubling it once decreases the damage by 50%, and double that new amount just decreases damage by just another 25%. But in the end, you double the amount of (same) hits you can take every time you double your armor.

I really wanted to provide constructive tweaks to try and bring us up. But frankly in the AoE condi meta, the only way we have a chance is if each of our attacks hit for like 5000 damage.
We are just gone from competitive play at this point. I tried to bring it within earshot but unless the team is made for it, it does not fit.

This might be one of a few times that the word meta was actually used correctly.
Seriously, thank you for this, there is atleast hope for this community.

I mean, the word meta was already misused alot in GW1 but in GW2 it is becoming quite rediculous.

At first people were crying for burst damage, then CC and now condis… wtf do you want exactly? Be happy necs don’t have 1 million hexes as they once did

Necros had a maximum of 8 hexes, because nobody could have more than 8 skills.
And we had classes which could removes this stuff with cooldowns of 2-5s

Only mindless claim that pvp in guild wars 2 is balanced

Does one build dominate all other builds as in I could have a full team of fear necros and will always win?

Nope there isn’t such thing as one build dominance because the game is balanced. There is a rock paper scissors system in this game. Condi’s beat this, Burst beats this, Fear beats this, Knockbacks beat this, Boons prevent that.

Sure some people don’t play 1 or 2 professions that much because the skill curve is too high to master and its just not as easy as others, but that’s in all games. Even in LoL some people just don’t get used as much as others.

Right now its just too many people playing paper and guess what scissors beats paper. Maybe its about time people start playing rock.

No it isn’t Rock, Paper, Scissors and it should never be such an aweful system.
Everything should have a chance to beat everything. Any other system than that, would end up:
Team A consists of XYZ, Team B consists of MNO → XYZ beats MNO → Team A wins

That is Rock, Paper, Scissors. Not in a nutshell, but that is the exact definition of that kind of balance.
There is no player interaction needed to determine the outcome of a battle in Rock, Paper, Scissor.

This game has more epic adventure than any other MMO I know so far.

Running over Southsun Cove, wandering into a camp and thing, yes I was here 2 months ago helping the rioting settlers.
Yes I was here, caching Canach and defend the camps against the crazed wildlife.
And I was there, when the settlers were driven away from their homes by the molten alliance.

Wandering more around into the hive, seeing that charred, stoned karka queen body still lying next to the lava I know:
I was here 6 months ago. I fought this beast for almost 3 hours, and I was one of the guys collapsing the ground.

GW2 has those epic adventures more than anything else, with living story content which permanently changes the world… here and there…

I realize it’s easier to complain than do something different, but a few people reading this thread may want to consider this idea about conditions in tPvP.

Now that many teams will have a Necro…have your own Necro counter the conditions by putting Well of Power on their utility bar. They can also take the 10pt trait for ground targeting wells.

I have a Necro and was getting melted too by all the conditions now. I don’t have any traits, runes, or sigils that help with removing conditions, but I did start utilizing Well of Power and it really helps.

For sPvP you probably don’t care about teammates and don’t even need the ground targeting option. You will now win any 1v1 against a condition class when Well of Power is available.

For tPvP, it can really turn the tide of a battle when you turn all the conditions on your team into boons + give them stability + stun break + combo dark field for 5 seconds.

Between Putrid Mark and Well of Power, you can help you and your team almost 4 times a minute with conditions.

I’m sure there are other previously neglected skills, runes, sigils, traits, etc. that can help turn the tide again the amount of condition versus direct damage being seen now.

Until Necros figure out to wait until well of power runs out and use corrupt boon + epidemic, making everything worse than before.

Not to mention how long the cooldown is, compared to all the AoE application.

Besides, conditions were already problematic before.
Adding a new one and fixing a bug with blind, without reducing the blind application rate didn’t help.

You dodge Doom by dodging when a necromancer dips into Death Shroud. That will get it 90 percent of the time.

Since words don’t work, I will upload a video.
From the press of F1 to target feared I needed 9 frames, captured at 60 FPS.

From Deathshroud showing on my character to Fear hitting, the client needed 5 frames.

Yes doom is instant, and yes, traited doom is 2s of fear with down to 17s of cooldown.
Nobody can reliably evade doom. Even if you would program a bot, which would dodge once your client knows doom got casted it would be too late.
If the computer itself could not prevent being hit by doom on demand, nothing can.
You computer knows about Doom being cast before you are feared (on your screen), yet in that moment it is already too late.

Btw, necros had already alot of this firepower before. They just got even more. They are still squishy as before, but it isn’t that noticeable, because you you are dead even faster.
And since they now apply every condition besides confusion (well even confusion with corrupt boon), nothing can countercleanse against a necro. Just like nothing can reliable countercleanse an Engi.

no1 is forcing you to pay for a custom arena but its a basic feature that most of the games have it for free … (yes most of the rts games some fps games mobas and many other type of games)
its not about the money becouse every1 has 20$ to buy their own room, the problem is that what they say and what they do. i tougth that with gems the only thing that u were going to be able to buy was just cosmetics, does a CA looks like a cosmetic to you?.
if u buy em you are just a cow

You don’t want to know how many of these games use a P2P network model.
There are just a handful of games which offer you dedicated servers without having to pay for them.
Especially FPS games either use P2P networking or hosted dedicated servers, which have some nice pricetags.

Also, don’t forget Mobas are a maximum of 10 players.
So 10 players sending data, which has to be summitted to 9 (or 10 depending on the netcode) players.
Adding more (GW2 custom arenas support up to 20) increases the traffic exponentially.

Criticism on the recent Warrior changes

For the first time in this game, a condition can shut down a condition remover.XD

No, actually this is wrong.
Necro condition ‘remove’ was always mostly condition transfer, which has to hit a target.

Plague Signet is on a nice 60s cooldown, and does nothing if you are blinded, except for well… removing blind.
Becomes even cooler, as you are drawing conditions over from allies aswell.

Funniest thing is:

  • Putrid Mark: This ability will now transfer blind to enemies it strikes, instead of missing.

But the other abilities like Deathly Swarm still miss if blinded.

Final Trust takes indeed longer than the casttime suggests:
Frapsed it at 60 FPS and it took 59 frames from skill activation to damage applied, which makes at pretty much 1s for the skill from activation → damage.

Regarding autoattack of sword relative to axe and greatsword:
Axe : 113.13% → Sword : 100% → Greatsword : 87.71%

Frapsed against the light golem.
Becomes obviously better if using heavier armored targets.

Bonjour isn’t pre-installed on windows machines afaik.

That should not matter as developers can package their apps with free Bonjour redistributables under the Apache 2.0 license.

https://developer.apple.com/softwarelicensing/agreements/bonjour.html

Not sure if that would be a problem for ArenaNet as I am not a legal expert, but it seems ok on the surface.

The problem with just using TCP on a user machine to serve out information, without something like Bonjour, is that you do not know for sure if a particular port that you want to use, is available. For example, if I am already running my own web server there would be a conflict with apps such as GWLink that expects port 80 to be free. And not all users are technical enough to reconfigure their own servers and ports.

In case of a TCP connection that would be less of a problem.
First and foreall, nothing should require your port 80 unless you really install a webserver on it (how many users run a webserver on their machine o_o).

Port 80 is a well-known port and should just be used for the HTTP.
You should take a port from the range of 1024-49151. Those are registered ports and chances are, that they are not taken by any other application on a user machine.

Some of them are registered, so just take one from which isn’t listened here:
https://www.iana.org/assignments/service-names-port-numbers/service-names-port-numbers.txt

Once a new client tries to establish a new TCP connection to localhost:port the TCP handshake will establish a connection on one of the ephemeral ports anyway.

Bonjour helps the user on the configuration side when running in a network.
A service can put their service information up, and with that comes the IP address etc.
If another device now looks for services within that network, it just has to check the services available via Bonjour.
That will return a list of all sorts of services in that network, from printers to streaming services etc.
Yes GW2 could register a service there aswell, that way a user doesn’t have to configure the IP address etc.
And if the IP address changes, then the user doesn’t have to reconfigure all the data, because once the service starts, it will register with the most recent configuration, which gets deleted everytime the service shuts down.
As I said, this is mostly useful for applications running on other devices, like a secondary computer, a tablet or smartphone within the same network.
If the application is running on the same computer, then localhost or 127.0.0.1 will just do the trick perfectly fine.
The only upside of bonjour in that case would be, that the GW2 client could choose a free port from basically all available ports and register the service on that port.
Bonjour doesn’t seem to offer any help with that task (just took a quick look, and at least the port number must be defined when you register the service, which makes sense).
So in that case, Bonjour doesn’t help you if that port isn’t free. It helps you to configure all devices/service users in case that you have to switch your service port.
But if the only reason to use Bonjour is to make this particular thing of port configuration of a single application which will connect to localhost, then using such a massive system is oversized to say the least.
You know, in that case, a simple .txt file which gets generated once the listening port is established, which includes just the port number would essentially do the same.

Bonjour isn’t pre-installed on windows machines afaik.

And I would guess 95%+ of this userbase is running windows.
And you don’t have to search the network for most of the applications afaik.
That isn’t something I would call well established.

In over 90% of the cases I would say that the connection is to be found is on ‘localhost’.

Having a small TCP connection, which you can connect to shouldn’t be that hard to implement. It could use the exact same data the MumbleLink object has, just well, send over TCP/IP.

API documentation would then just has to include the amount of bytes per information packet, and which bytes are which data (assuming wchat_t = char16_t):

  • Byte 0-3 -> UINT32: packetLength
  • Byte 4-5 -> UINT16: packetType
    • In case of a packet type “MumblePosition”
    • Byte 6-9 -> UINT32 : uiVersion
    • Byte 10-13 -> DWORD : uiTick
    • Byte 14-17 -> float : fAvatarPosition[ 0 ]
    • Byte 18-21 -> float : fAvatarPosition[ 1 ]
    • Byte 22-25 -> float : fAvatarPosition[ 2 ]
    • Byte 26-29 -> float : fAvatarFront[ 0 ]
    • Byte 30-33 -> float : fAvatarFront[ 1 ]
    • Byte 34-37 -> float : fAvatarFront[ 2 ]
    • Byte 38-41 -> float : fAvatarTop[ 0 ]
    • Byte 42-45 -> float : fAvatarTop[ 1 ]
    • Byte 46-49 -> float : fAvatarTop[ 2 ]
    • Byte 50-X-> wchat_t : name[ 0-255 ]

Over such a connection they could send all sort of data, which could be pretty easily deserialised, because we would know how many bytes we have to read and what those bytes represent.
In case of a chararray we could just read in bytes (or 2 bytes in case of char16_t, 4 in case of char32_t) until we encounter a null (yeah definition of a null-terminated string).
We just have to check if 4 bytes are available. If so, we got the packet length.
Then we check if there are packetLength – 4 bytes available. If that is the case, then we know the packet is complete (could need some additional cases when the receivebuffer is full, but I want to keep it simple in this example).
So check the next to bytes to see what sort of packet we have.
Then just proceed to deserialise the packet depending on the packettype.

The connection setup is the least problem in our case^^

Couldn’t we just get a socket based connection in the future? :P

Could either be a TCP socket from the client listening on port X, and when a new TCP connection got established it will send the position data once per frame/second/movement…
What would be cool aswell would be an UDP socket, which we you send a small packet with informations about our programms UDP socket and perhaps a name, and from that moment on, the client just sends the movement update to that UDP socket, until either a stop from our side got send or the GW2 client is closed.

That would be so great, and should also work with the transgaming layer (I really hope that this emulator will allow socket based connections on localhost between emulated and native programm, but I could be wrong as I don’t have a Mac to test this).

Certificate problems with Android Apps

Varonth.5830

You don’t need a StartCom SSLSocketFactory anymore.
In fact, the socket factory generated by my SSL Helper class sets up factories which provide SSL sockets for a single certificate.
If the server you are connecting to isn’t using that certificate directly or as part of its certificate chain, than these sockets will refuse the connection (which in that case is the correct behavior for these sockets).

With the change to GeoTrust from StartCom as certificate authority StartCom SSLSockets will refuse the connection.

Instead you can just use the default SSLSocketFactory of your java implementation (GeoTrust should really be included in any Java implementation, including the Dalvik VM used by Android).
Latest version, which I uploaded does exactly that, and it works just fine.

trait skill : Destruction of the Empowered

in Warrior

Varonth.5830

1.Nice try about the Null field..it removes one boon yes..but it removes it from up to 5 targets each second so that is 5 boons per second? This is a team game so sounds preeeetty neat to me!
It can also cause confusion or blind if traited into.
So not only does it remove conditions from MULTIPLE targets and rips boons from MULTIPLE targets but it can also apply conditions to MULTIPLE targets? I dunno..that sounds way more OP than DOE.

2.Nice calculations..I’m not sure why you listed them since in the end it just states the obvious that our bonus damage with DOE still does not negate the damage reduction offered by protection. So in the end, our damage is still mitigated with a trait that is 30 points down a tree few of us go to..? So basically..it fails to help us against a single condition as opposed to simply..removing that condition..

I think anyone here agrees that removing protection is way more powerful than increasing the damage to a degree that can’t even overcome the damage reduction offered by protection. I know. I kinda play the warrior extensively and have tested that trait.

3.Yes..I never thought that protection is supposed to protect from other players damage..like warriors. Anyway, It works against Guardians, Eles,Rangers, Engys..who also have access to it? So..it balances out? Cool.
Mesmers/necros and thieves can remove it? Yes.. But thieve’s and mesmers cant easily remove it..oh yes..they can stealth/teleport/shadowstep till it burns out. Cool.
Warriors have no access to protection..warriors have no way of removing protection..

As for your point about necros having to use a weapon to remove boons..why would they?

They can equip a lolly pop and still remove boons like a champ:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Corrupt_Boon

40 s cool down and can be on shorter cool downs..That thing is enough to destroy a guardian..

and this:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Well_of_Corruption

I don’t think necros are forced into focus to get this:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Spinal_Shivers

They have two utility skills on reasonable cool downs without being traited in.

Notice how all of the above makes DOE a joke?

I dunno man..but it sounds to me like the warrior class is the only class that is screwed when it comes to protection in this game.. Were forced to go 30 points in a line we don’t want and forced to leave burst mastery in order to get a skill that is suboptimal at the best of times and inferior to any boon ripping any class has? Sounds like a bad deal to me.

Theorycrafting -and discussing dust prices with passion!- is nice but it doesn’t hold when your supposed to be a dominant melee class and have a BM ranger or a guardian wipe the floor with you.

Have fun convincing warrior players being smacked around that that trait is good.

Were did I ever said the trait is good as it is right now? You are interpreting stuff into my post that I never wrote.

I just corrected alot of false statements that you wrote.
I actually showed that your calculation on DotE is making it better than it actually is against protection.
You tested it alot you say? Yet you are wrong.
I would never slot DotE over burst mastery in my builds which involve 30 into discipline.

But saying stuff like Null Field removing all boons. Want to know what happens when a guardian places any symbol? They pulse boons once per second, and all your null field will do is removing that pulse boon a fraction of a second after it got applied.

The real boon removal is shattered concentration on a mesmer, because… well that thing removes up to 4 boons with a single shatter. And mind wrack does alot of damage on top of that and is on a 10.5s cooldown.
It also hits on AoE.
That is far superior to Null Field.

Null Field is more a tool to prevent new boons, instead of stripping them.

And long cooldowns are a significant factor when it comes to boon remove.
That is why necro falls short in this. Having it dodged/blinded is far more damaging on a 40 second cooldown, than dodging a larcenous strike or parts of a shatter.
And of course this requires one of three utility slots, and this isn’t needed for thief/mesmer. DotE doesn’t take a utility slot either.

Well but complaining is part of the standard warrior. People like Defektive seem to do well with the class.

trait skill : Destruction of the Empowered

in Warrior

Posted by: Varonth.5830

Varonth.5830

So some stuff:
Null Field says it removes all boons and conditions. It doesn’t… and everyone should now that 10 months into the game…
It pulses once per second and removes 1 boon and 1 condition.

Then, damage modifiers like Destruction of the Empowered and Protection are most likely not just added (substracted) from each other.
They are multiplied:
Damage * DotE_Bonus * Protection_Bonus

Lets say with 8 boons including protection on 1000 damage:
1000 * (1+8 * 0.03)* 0.67 = 830

So the reduction/bonus is:

  • (1+uniqueBoonCount*0.03) * (1-(hasProtection * 0.33)) with
    • hasProtection == true -> 1
    • hasProtection == false -> 0

XII, what you probably never thought of, is something like protection should always work against warriors. It for example also always works against guardians, rangers, eles and engineer.
That is 4 out of 8 classes with no way to stop protection (50% of all classes).
Necro, Mesmer and Thief can bypass protection by using certain tools (although necro is pretty bad in that regard, with extreme long cooldowns).

These two are the best ways around boons because they have extreme low cooldowns.
Necro, while having boon removal, has to give up utility slots and has to take weapons like focus aswell, and does not have close the boon removal thief and mesmer got.

Necro is basically on a same level as warrior with Destruction of the Empowered when it comes to boonhate (that includes both, removal and getting better with more boons on the target).

Warrior probably isn’t meant to bypass protection completely, but Desctruction of the Empowered is a trait which helps bypass it partly.
So it is by no means useless. You are still dealing more damage to a guardian as you said in your example, than without that trait.
On the over side, on targets without protection warrior is the topdog when it comes to boon hate, followed by mesmer then thief.

All things are not equal in the loot system, all people are not getting the chance for good drops, some people are stuck in a perpetual low drop 98% of the time situation so you can argue until you’re blue that there’s nothing wrong, but until everyone has equal chances at the loot there will still be a problem. That’s not what’s happening in this game I repeat loot chances are not equal in this game.

This is the only myth I can see concerning loot drops.

By this logic, I should be angry that there are people who are 98% of the time getting better loot than everyone else.

I would argue that it is actually impossible that there are accounts which have plain worse/better chances at getting rare loot… but let’s be honest it seems like a possibility when we all remember back at release.
There was a problem with some accounts not getting any WvW boni. That was an issue on a per account base. Why shouldn’t there be a related bug regarding loot.

For example, I have a char with 200% magic find. I can tell you that I found in total 9 exotics in over 2000 hours of gametime.

That doesn’t sound normal to me. And please don’t come up with stuff like, oh your samplesize is too low. It is 2000+ hours, that isn’t exactly low.

Of course, you could have spent half that time in PvP, which would completely change what you’re saying. Or standing around in LA. Or in low level zones (since exotics didn’t drop their until January (as far as I know).

How many hours doesn’t tell me anything.

Stand back, Vayne, I got this.

2000 hours is a small sample size compared to the vast amount of hours put in by everyone who isn’t you.

I too would agree that it’s likely impossible for accounts to have flat out better or worse loot than other accounts. It’s completely possible to have a really long bad (or good) luck streak though.

Perma-DR on an account would have a been a massive bug and would have received the attention of devs early and loudly. The fact that perma-DR is still getting lip service is a reminder that some people really do think the world is against them.

As I said, there was already an example in this game that was a per account issue.
And exactly that is the issue. This game has a backstory when it comes to issues in that regard. Opening this door once opens the possibility of all sorts of per account issues.

And a per account issue does not exactly mean, that my account is a “no-luck” account. It could be the exact opposite of certain accounts gaining a bonus for no reason whatsoever.

If dust would got down to 2-3s each, all the other T6 mats would become less of a problem.

The argument against nerfs

in PvP

Posted by: Varonth.5830

Varonth.5830

Nerfs are necessary for balancing.

You cannot just buff things. You have to try to find a point which is acceptable in term of damage, support, CC… if an ability is beyond that point you have to nerf it. You don’t just that point, and buff everything else up to this. What would happen if you overbuff anything? Oh well, than we set the balancing point to that point, and buff everything else…
Repeat until players could oneshot champions while having 60s of invul on 30s cooldown?

Of course not.

In terms of class balancing you just define points around which the class should be balanced. It should have X mobility, Y sustained etc…
If a trait is considered to be a trait which boosts your survivability, you take a look at how good it does accomplish this considering that point Y.
Is it better, but on the other hand you lose something from X in the same relation? Well then it might be ok. Is it just above Y and basically has no downside? Then you nerf it.
Is it below Y and has no upside? Buff it.
But keep that point.

The problem is that GW2 started with alot of cheesy stuff which has to be nerfed.

I’m sorry but I’m going to be the one to say it… your greatsword sword Warhol build is complete TRASH. Lol burst mastery? U plan on spamming sword f1 which does NO damage at all without condition damage … GS f1 for fury ok that’s somewhat decent this build would be way better off with an axe in main hand war horn is meh without the trait might as well grab a shield .. I know you go sword main hand for number 2 but you already have mobility on GS so use an axe man actually deal some deeps

The point of sword must have gone way over your pretty little head.

And you should never use Sword F1 for it’s DPS anyway.

Oh sorry so you plan on using as an immobilize? Why not use a longbow? Better f1 and has an immobilize and has range arching arrow actually deals deeps. I’m sorry there is no way for you to justify this build its absolutely horrid

So some points:

  • Sword auto attack chain damage is actually higher than greatsword
  • Sword #2 isn’t affected by crippled and chilled (but it also isn’t affected by swiftness)
    • In this build it isn’t affected by immobilize either
  • Sword offers alot of soft CC (long cripple and extreme immobilize)

Bow has an immobilize? Yes it does.
But the difference in cooldown is 8s for sword vs. 25s on bow.
Not to mention how unreliable projectiles are (random clones/rockdogs/elementals/reflects ftw) at the moment.

And even untraited the warhorn offers a party-wide immobilize break on a 15s cooldown, not to mention of the high uptime on vigor.

Dodges are often better than block, because there since release ANet added some unblockable skills, some of them being used regulary.

The Immobolize is applied only in the beginning of the cast and at no time anywhere else. I don’t stack the bleeds at all because it’s actually LESS DPS than just auto attacking for higher damage and stacking bleeds.

Yeah people pretty much underestimate the swords autoattack damage because two of the skills have just medicore damage + good bleed.
In fact, and that one can easily be tested by just hitting golems, the GS autoattack is dealing less damage than sword, unless you take Slashing Power even on low armored enemies. On high armor targets, Sword autoattack is always better.

3 boons = 9% only when the target has 4 boons is it better than 10%. If the target has no boons or 1-2 boons its worst all of the time. . Not every class runs around with 3 boons. Thiefs for example have very very limited access to boons. 10% to bleeding foes is better than berserkers power as well. As with sigil of earth its a 93% chance to cause bleeding so your doing 10% damage no matter how much adrenaline u have. you can Have no adrenaline at all and do 10%. Berserkers power isnt even better till you are at full adrenaline and once you use a burst skill it becomes worst. The other thing it does is a lot of times it casues people to blow their cleases to clear the bleeding. So you can follow up with a immobilize and they got nothing to clear that than bam 100 blades on them.

Sigil of Earth has a 60% chance on crit to cause bleeding.
Precise Strikes has a 33% chance on crit to cause bleeding.

That does not mean you have a 93% chance to cause bleeding on crit.
If the sigil would be 50% and the trait would be 50% you would apply 1 bleeding on crit.

First some videos:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_7PR9kRXWs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOooyE6liLY

We need:
Addition Rule for non mutually exclusive events, as both the sigil and the trait can proc of the same crit.
Multiplication Rule for Independent Events for calculating the probability of both occuring at the same time.
Chance that both are procing of the same crit:
60%*33% = 19.8%
This number is also needed in the calculation of getting the proc of either the sigil or the trait.
60%+33%-19.8% = 73.2% chance to get one bleeding on crit.

Yea it does give you 93% the 60% stacks with the 33% try it before you try to argue, Its not multiplied its additive. your talking to somone who actually uses the setup. I works escatly the same The same way melandru stacks with lemongrass and dogged march. Same mechanic it stacks additively not multiplicative. .

Since it is additive, not two different procs, you cannot apply 2 stacks of bleeding according to your system.
Get a steady hammer. Put a sigil of earth in it. Get the trait and hit a golem and take a look if you ever apply two stacks of bleeding.
You are not adding duration, you are having chances. Chances don’t just add up. I actually linked you 2 videos. Watch them please before you post stuff, which if they would be true, would completely change natural laws.
I also included a statement for you with easier numbers.

i never advocated getting angry and making rude remarks, it simply happens. Its not about a game its about human nature, especially when heavy competition is involved. No one ever loses their temper on purpose, yet it happens to all of us. The main issue is everyone has varying interpretations of what is offensive. What the OP considered offensive is laughable to me, and when you get all the mutes trigger-happy with the report button and people start getting worried about being banned for mild trashtalk than you end up with a dull boring pvp experience that doesnt even feel like pvp but like pve with player AI.

Again, i dont advocate over the top outright continuous slandering and this should be reported, but im afraid you carebears will use this as a greenlight to report anyone who says anything that rattles your precious little PVegos

No it is not in the human nature. Take a look at certain sports. The people fighting in a championship there don’t insult each other. They don’t trashtalk about each other just because they won or lost. They might just lost a championship, yet they congratulate the winner, while the winners show their appreciation by thanking them for a good game.
A single offense, even in the heat of a game, results in penalties with immediate removal from that game and following that game, they often have to make payments. Just for a single insult towards another player.

A few months ago, a greek soccer player named Giorgos Katidis made a very inappropriate gesture after scoring a goal. The result was that he got banned on lifetime from all national games, got removed from the greek national team and basically his career ended at the age of 20.

If you want something from online games, there was also a story about a LoL championship were 2 top-players got banned from a running tournament for repeated verbal offense.

And again, it doesn’t matter if you thing it is laughable. It is against the terms of service which you accepted.

well sorry if youre joining a game which involves smashing eachothers face in with a wooden pole and people arent talking about rainbows and lollipops as you would like. Pvp is highly competitive, emotions get charged, anger commonly ensues, its the nature of pvp. Normal people would say, if you cant handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. But in the case of carebares, you say if you cant handle the heat, ask anet to come remove the stove.

And another false statement.
If you get angered by a video game, and to compensate have to insult someone when you win, you should look for a different hobby or, and I really feel somewhat sorry to tell you this in this way and thread, some professional help.

Think about it, that you are talking to another human being there. You don’t know how their day was. They might lost their job or family member or something else bad just happened in their life, and just need something to distract them for a bit. And then someone just starts to insult them because they can’t really concentrate on the game…

I really hope that you will get a timed suspenstion for a few days once you collected enough reports. And I really hope ANet comes with a good way of making you think about why that happened. Best thing ANet could do is, give such offenders a mail which includes the lines why they got suspented, and then let them write apologies. And the account stays closed until those apologies are written.
That way people learn to think about what they wrote…

An engi with 15 stacks of might, flamethrower and grenades throwing a single Shrapnel Grenade can deal 17s of burning and 3 15s stacks of bleeding, resulting in ~15.5k damage if not cleansed.

Does that happen all the time? No. Can this happen? Yes.

Here it is.
You can also switch certain traits. Leg Specialist -> Empowered for more damage instead of more control for example.

As someone already posted, Quick Breathing converts burning to aegis and vulnurability to protection. Not just on you, but on everyone around you aswell.

Where is my 79% critchance ?

I tried the build, if you go with this you become a support character forget about killing anything, you can remove conditions very well and overall have better not ideal like other classes survivality, but your damage its a joke, i prefer spec for damage and actually kiling something.

If you like going full support, go for it.

9% base → 29 with fury → 79 on stunned enemies. With Heightened Focus it will be 88 for the earth shaker and 81 for all the hits after that.

Zerger with 20 point into arms has 44% base → 64% with fury → 73% with Heightened Focus. Bull’s Rush does not trigger the 50% of Unsuspecting Foe.

You don’t get the 200 power from the Strength traitline, and runes (of using power runes).
Valkyrie has the same power and crit stats as zerger, but instead of vit you get healing power and instead of precision you get toughness.
You also get 30% bonus critdamage from discipline.

On the defensive side on the other hand:
Shout Heal heals for about 1.5k each and often remove conditions.
While kinda small, you will get less damage because you have additional toughness, making the heals otherall more effective.
DPS from conditions is extreme right now, and you can easily suffer 2~2.5k condition damage per second. A shield will not protect you from that.
For example an engineer can, with just 2 attacks, stack 20s of burning on you ticking at 750~800.
That will be 15k health if there is no one around you to cleanse that.
And you can cleanse through masses of conditions better than any other class with charge. There is no other cleanse (besides consume conditions and lyssa powered elites) which can potentionally cleanse 4 conditions at once. And that ability is on 12s cooldown and AoE.
And of course you have alot of CC which will ease the pressure on you. A CCed foe does not deal alot of damage. That a CCed foe can also eat alot of damage is nice aswell
I am also wondering, that kind of damage did you see on the hammer attacks, that were too low?

It doesn’t matter what you think is normal in a PvP environment. It doesn’t matter if you think that they are ‘crybabies’. They have the terms of service on their side. Do it too often and get banned.
If someone trash talks, it doesn’t matter if that person tries to talk to me or anyone else: Report and go on. I won’t reply to it, or give it any more attention than this report.

Regarding Quick Breathing:
It converts just like other condi removes. Last in, first out.
Charge takes a special place in that regard.
It first removes Crippled, Chilled and Immobilize and then converts the last condition into a boon.
So if you get immobilized, poisoned, crippled, burned chilled the use of charge will end you with:
Poisoned, swiftness and aegis.

GW2 Warrior don’t use alot of magic. Magic use of a warrior is limited to magical weapons and magical signets. Magical would be items like Bolt/Volcanus Foefire Weapons…

Greatsword is used for it’s superior mobility and ability to disengage if used properly.

If you would spend 5 seconds looking at a skill calculator or actually making a warrior you know in game you would see from our weapon skills, utility abilities, traits and downed state warriors are designed to do massive damage in a very short amount of time.

Our ability to last in battle is non existent against semi decent players. A lot of people think you can build a warrior for sustain or prolonged fights but then these people never play outside of pve or a massive zerg ball with 10 guardians supporting the 40 other players running around the map steamrolling one person at a time that doesn’t know how to dive through a zerg.

Btw I can’t tell if your trolling or just really ignorant?

Hammer+Sword/Warhorn has better mobility (savage leap isn’t affected by chill/cripple immobilize, and allows for some pretty nice shortcuts on maps like Kyhlo)
It doesn’t rely on stuff like Bull’s Rush because it is already build into one of the weaponset. Since Hammer also has a stun, not just a knockdown (ranged aswell, not affected by chill/cripple) you can use it with Unsuspecting Foe.
Using Valkyrie with 10 points into arms, you are at 79% critchance with Fury.
Using Zerger with 20 points into arms and fury is 64% critchance.

A full zerger warrior (20/20/0/0/30) build does ~33% more damage (if you are lucky and crit every single strike, which took a while to test btw) with 100B than a 0/10/0/30/30 specced hammer warrior with shout heals and soldier runes.

So you can choose between 33% more damage or:

  • Defensive Utilities for you and your group
    • More CC remove
    • More movement impairing effect remove
    • Small additional small heals over time
    • Perm Vigor
    • Perm Swiftness
    • Access to Protection
    • Access to Regen
    • Access to Aegis
  • Way better CC
  • More realiable damage (also inbetween stuns)
  • Actually better mobility (earthshaker can also be used as a 600 range jump)
  • 644 additional toughness
  • Higher critchance when bursting
  • Minor improvement in healing with Valkyries
  • Good access to weakness (the reduced endurance regen helps alot)
  • Blast finisher (best finisher ingame) on a pretty low cooldown

I kinda laugh at this standard Bull’s Rush, Frenzy, X warriors. They run out of stunbreaks so fast, and if they stunbreak with Frenzy, I crit them for like 5-6k with my autoattack.
Or if they really get me and hit a full 100B and not even get me below 50% health.
What a zerger warrior can kill is other zergers players, and not even any of them.
A valkyrie on the other hand deals so much damage over time, while surviving so much longer…

You are admitting yourself that this is not a real scenario. And it cannot become a real scenario. It is an actually impossible scenario.
Impossible scenarios can include all sorts of states like:
If you equip 3 or more different weaponssets on the warrior it becomes better.

Also why do you throw in an impossible scenario into the discussion in the first place.

We’re telling you that you’re wrong. Just take a look at my previous post. There are breakpoints where each stat overtakes the others in terms of effectiveness. Just stacking power does not mean maximum DPS.

In your post you’re taking a normal value for Power, not a percentage.
Let me explain it again:
Let’s suppose you have 2000 Power, 50% critical chance and 0% critical damage (so a critical is 150% of a normal hit in this case).

Let’s add 50% critical damage: a normal hit will be (example) 2000 damage, a critical 4000.

Let’s add a value of Power equal to 50% of your current Power, so you reach 3000 Power: a normal hit will be 3000, a critical 4500.

I hope you get it now. Otherwise I’m out.

PS: We can also do the same but with 100% critical rate. In this case there will NOT be any difference between rising Power or Critical Damage (except for skills that can not crit like Mug), but in most cases you won’t have 100% critical rate.

But that is not how the stat system works.
You cannot just add 1000 power instead of 50% crit.

1000 power is ~100% crit damage.
If you have 4000 power, and instead of adding 50% crit damage, you should add 50% power, so just 2000, and then you will deal more damage.

If you have 10000, and stead of adding 50% crit damage, you should add 50% power, so just 5000…

A rune does not come with you gain 25% power. They come with +25 power.
That is why I suggested to use prowess instead. You gain 50 prowess instead of 50% crit damage.
You are mixing up relative with absolute numbers here, while 1% crit damage is on paper a relative number, it is absolute when you add them, because you actually do exactly that. You add them to your current critmodifier. You don’t multiply your current critmodifier with it.
And then such statement as “power is always better” gets posted.

Your statement would be true if 1% crit damage would actually equal 1% power. But that is not the case.

Oh god. I was talking about RAW STATS, not traits, neither stats from traits.
I was talking generally, were you can compare 1% critical damage and 1% more Power based on current Power. Have I to repeat again?
I was NOT discussing any build, my first post was about raw values and values only. You guys started talking about traits but I’ve never mentioned them.
My post reason was that if you have to chose between adding X% critical damage or Y Power equal to X% of your current Power, then Power is better.

I hope that everyone now got it, I repeated it 5 times.

We’re telling you that you’re wrong. Just take a look at my previous post. There are breakpoints where each stat overtakes the others in terms of effectiveness. Just stacking power does not mean maximum DPS.

And to add to this point, this goes for traitslines (not traits) and runes.
Amulets not so much because the high crit damage amulets automatically come with high power (both of them, as celestial is kinda lol).

For the warrior comment, I think they would rather have better heals and more condition removals.

I know. I main a warrior myself(though currently I’m not playing it very much). I was simply trying to highlight just how incredible Blurred Frenzy is. It’s good enough that any Warrior would trade their health advantage to a Mesmer for BF and only the dumbest of the dumb would make that imaginary trade.

That blurred frenzy also makes you invulnurable is just the topping. Always funny to use Blurred Frenzy, Shatter… hitting 2 or even 3 targets with BF and my shatters and see 24 invulnurable flying around because I didn’t get any retaliation damage xD

I mean, seriously, would be kinda insane if mesmers would suffer from retaliation like other classes with multihit AoE abilities, wouldn’t it?

Guys, I was NOT debating about trait lines.
I was just comparing RAW stats. So please don’t say “you can’t rise that without that” or “this trait line is better than that one”.
I was talking ONLY about raw stats. And in that case, no traits involved, Power is obviously better than Critical Power. I hope that everyone get this.

And by the way we are going off topic XD

And that just isn’t true. Power isn’t always better. Even distribution is. It is mathematically better because you multiply both numbers.

Just thing of it in extremes if the actual possible ingame values aren’t clear enough. If your statement would be true, and you would have the possibility to give up crit damage for even more power, and you could give up like 150% crit damage for additional 1500 power, than your attacks would hit harder, yes.
Your overall DPS would still suffer from this, and you want to know why, don’t you? If you have up 150% crit damage your crits would not only not add damage, they would reduce the damage to 0. That’s what multiplication does to your damage numbers.

And keep in mind, 10% crit damage does not mean 10% power. 1% crit damage equals X power. In case of traits:
1% crit damage = 10 power.
10 power != 10% power, it just stays 10 power.

Your statement would be true if 1% crit damage would actually equal 1% power. But that is not the case. Don’t see 1% crit damage like 1% but more like a stat: 1 crit damage (as it was called Prowess once). You are adding X power, not X% power, and X power is just x/currentPower %. The higher your power already is, the less relative additional damage does it add.

That is also the case why zerger amulet adds such a high amount of damage (you add 3 stats which all three affect each other multiplicative).

The whole point of precision line is gs traits. If you just want power may as well run one hand axe and drop gs if your not going to run forceful gs. That is my point.
Going 0 points into arms is like not grabbing mobile strikes when you have 4 movement skills.

As far as the math thing goes, if you add 10% more power, you get 10% more damage approximately because skill coefficient goes up as well. There is no argument against this because critical damage will not balance power scaling.

However, my original statement was about skill coefficients saturating. not anything about power not being linear

This is not exactly right if I remember correctly (I invested a ton of time in understanding the min/max of all things GW2 before I left about 1.5 months after release). While yes its a linear increase of 10% more, its in relation to the original weapon damage the skill does, so if the original skill does say 400 damage and you have approx. 2000 power invested (200% increase, although I believe its every 900ish power does 100% more damage) your doing 1200 damage with the skill. Another 100 power will yield 40 damage while 10% crit damage will yield 120 damage if you had 100% crit chance, or 60 if you had 50% crit chance.

So yes there is a time when you want to invest more into something other than power.

You are interpreting it wrong. You do NOT have to compare 100 Power and 10% Critical Damage.
The correct comparison is 10% Power increase and 10% Critical Damage. In this case Power is always better, except when critical rate is 100%, in that case doesn’t matter.
So Power is always better if you compare things in “same percentage of increase”.

That’s not how it works.
Crit and power both affect each other.
Also critdamage and power gain via traitline is 1% : 10 power
If you add 10% crit damage you cannot just add 10% power if you are at 2000 power already. That would be 200 power, which surpasses the 10%.

The short answer is that you basically multiply all 3 values. Since none of them can be 0 that special case doesn’t have to be covered.

If you have 2 (basically 3 variables as precision is also one factor in the equotation) and you can distribute actual value towards each of the attributes, so lets say A = 1 and B = 1 and you can add 10 points in total, then you should not just add 10 to A, because you are multiplying:
It would be : (1+10)* 1 = 11
If you evenly distribute the points on A and be you would get:
(1+5)* (1+5) = 36.

With the 3 attributes, power, precision and crit damage you would have to split it like:
(1+3)* (1+3)* (1+4) = 80

So the more power you already have, the better bonus crit damage and precision becomes. If you just stack power, you will just have a linear damage increase.
If you distribute your stats more evenly, your actual damage will increase exponentially.
