I think the easiest (and most logical) thing to do is to just add a separate dye channel for glow on the sylvari armors. Dye remover results in no glow, whereas any other dyes allow the glow to be that color.
This would also fix things such as the ridiculousness of the dye channels on the t3 light top, where the main dye channel covers everything and the other two barely make any effect at all…which means that right now if you want to glow you have to have your entire top’s main channel dyed something bright and hence have all of your armor that color. Seriously, guys, t3 in full Celestial isn’t a good look. I’ve tried.
It also bothers me that it took over a year of people asking for sylvari armors to glow to get that implemented, and only a few weeks for it to be reverted :\
Also, for example, this is how my mesmer looked once I was able to make her glow properly, compared with how she looks now. She looked so much better after the glow was implemented
(edited by Verene.1480)
An option to turn the glow on or off would be best. That way people who don’t want it can turn it off, and those of use that want to look pretty (:P) can use it.
And yeah, like AJ, I spent a lot on toxic dyes because they looked so good on sylvari armors. Now I feel like that was wasted money because the colors no longer stand out like they used to.
I have light t3 on my female sylvari dyed with Violite, Celestial, and Ancient Silver. Before it was a very bright, visible glow, which matched her as I have her glow set to white with the slider all the way up. Now it’s so dim it may as well not be there
Bright colors do not make it glow more.
It depends on which bright colour, then. I use hot pink, which is definitely a bright colour, and my skirt glow is bright and clearly visible without going into neon sign territory. I switched to a muted dark purple (Anet, may I request some more dark pink dyes please) to check the difference, and the glow was less visible with it.
Well, as I mentioned, I’m using Violite as my main color, which is one of the toxic dye pack colors. It is (or was, anyway) a very vivid bright purple. Now it hardly glows at all, and the dye itself has lost all of the vividness that it previously had.
I’m extremely disappointed in the change. My sylvari mesmer wears t3, and I’ve always been sad that not only did it not glow, but it hid almost the entirety of my sylvari’s glow on her body. The update that added glow to the armor was perfect. I was finally able to get my mesmer to look the way I wanted her to.
Now not only are the dye channels messed up so that colors look all flat and blah, but my glow is basically gone.
It really bugs me that it took months of asking for that to be added for it to be changed originally, and only two weeks for it to be removed.
It’s because it’s dyed a dark color. She made it so brighter colors would glow brighter and darker colors would glow less, as a compromise for those who want bright glow can use bright colors and those who don’t want glow or subtle glow can use darker colors.
Problem is even with light colors they do not glow
That could be a bug; I have the T3 light skirt on my mesmer, and his still glows. Not as much as before (which I am very, very thankful for as he used to light up like a neon sign at night), but the glow is without a doubt there.
So I am very, very happy with this update. The things I loved about T3 that were removed in favour for glow is back, and I am thrilled to have my glossy leaves with subtle shading again. The hues and the shading are not quite as they were before the glow update, but I am happy with the compromise.
After the previous update walking through the Grove made me feel rather sad because the NPCs looked wilted, much like dying autumn leaves. Now they have most of their shine back, so I actually like being around the Grove again. Thank you so much for this update!

And that human didn’t say how much she would reduce waypoint costs. It could be 1% or 2%. However, Evon says he will “slash” prices. Slash, when used in this context, would generally indicate a larger difference than Kiel’s wording (only “reduce”.)
Congratulations, you’ve fallen victim to this little thing known as “marketing speech”.
There’s loads of other stat types that are missing from ascended gear, too.
I want ascended magi gear. Right now I have to use cleric on my guardian, which is okay…but magi would be so much better.
About candy corn – you recall incorrectly – it was only a handful of pieces you had to eat at once to start puking it everywhere. :P
Nope, definitely not.
A few months back (like…in October or something) some friends and I all pooled together our money to have 200g and mailed it back and forth so we could all get the Golden title. Nothing bad happened. If someone gets banned for mailing gold it’s because they’re up to something else as well.
I needed to reset my password recently (long since forgot what it was), and I didn’t have my serial code as it’s currently packed away in a box 1200 miles away, as I’m moving across the country. Support was able to reset it for me pretty quickly with some info – I was asked for a character name on the account as well as the date the account was created (as close to as possible).
I’ve definitely been having this happen all evening – there have been times where I’d fall, get up, and the proceed to faceplant and take damage multiple times in a row. I’ve been seeing it happen rather inconsistently, though – I can jump off of the same place a dozen times in a row (I like to jump off the bridge leading to the asura portals in LA) and have it happen about half the time, but not the other half.
I have also taken fall damage multiple times from this – I’d take damage the first time I fell, and then again after getting up and faceplanting again.
One thing I haven’t seen mentioned in here, when bringing up how buggy the harpies are, is that sometimes projectile blockers/reflectors don’t work with them.
I normally play a mesmer, but I’ve done fractals on my guardian and my ele before. I use a focus on my mesmer, and I have the Warden’s Feedback trait. I have no problems with Feedback working properly, but I have seen projectiles sail right over my Temporal Curtain without being reflected at all. Watching my Warden reflect stuff is amazing (and hilarious), but it only works if they’re targeting the Warden and not anyone else.
And with my ele…I use Magnetic Aura, and it doesn’t reflect anything in there! I’ll have it up, be right in the middle of the duration, and still get hit and knocked off. Arcane Shield works just fine, but Magnetic Aura fails on me every single time.
There’s also some weirdness between going downed and going defeated – usually if you get knocked off you’re downed. Annoying, but ultimately not a big deal, just a waste of time. There are times though where I’ve seen people get knocked off at full health and instantly defeat – and they say they had no death penalty. I’ve had that happen where I’ve gone to an instant defeat when I was at full health with no penalty.
I love this fractal, it’s my favorite (which is saying something, as I do not like fractals), but playing it at 10+ has relegated it to the garbage that the rest of them lie in for me.
If someone encounters this bug while doing guild missions, are they going to be able to receive the rewards later? Similar to the issues with the Lost Shores chest and Wintersday?
I ask because we are kicking off our guild missions today and have many members that’ll be guesting over, and don’t want them to be screwed out of rewards they earned.
Trust me, it’s just as hard to get world completion on a server that is at the top of their tier. Being always green means that chances are you’ll always be missing something in red or blue territory for a long time, which is the issue that several of my friends are running into.
Frankly, WvW should not be part of map completion, I think, but I digress…
if i were their supervisor, i would fire them all. No hard feelings is just my way of thinking, in work you should be serious and actually work the whole time…ofc getting good money and having a good working environment is a must…but no serious company would do this kind of stuff in my eyes.
glad..at least, you had your fun.
I’m guessing you don’t actually work as any sort of manager or supervisor…and if you do, you’re the one that all of the employees hate.
It’s possible to be productive and having fun. Being able to take a break and have fun, as well as being comfortable enough with your coworkers to be absolutely silly like that, increases morale and helps people be more productive.
Source: Years of working under both good managers and bad, as well as working as a manager myself.
Anyway, I think the whole Harlem Shake thing is pretty stupid (I don’t get the appeal of it), but I love that they were like “hey let’s do this”, and then proceeded to put it together. Companies where people are actual people and not just a robot or warm body are few and far between, as well as completely awesome.
AoEs work but not consistently, being as they top out at a certainly number of targets and with the number of gravelings that spawn from the burrows an AoE attack may very well not ever even hit the burrow (one of the problems we had).
Moving while attacking in melee helps…if you find that sweet spot you can actually hit from quickly and if you get lucky and don’t have it immediately start going “obstructed” “miss” “out of range” after you get a few hits in. Which also happens. Frequently.
We also had issues with Scavengers performing their facechomp attack while immobilized far outside of melee range of the person they were attacking, and stability not working against them…
Yeah, I’ll just stick with Path 2 myself until those hitbox issues get fixed. If the cave troll doesn’t spawn we can clear it in under a half hour usually.
It is not easy to avoid or dodge his attacks at all. In fact that is the only boss (or enemy period, for that matter) that I have fought where it was so difficult to dodge the attacks. No lag at all, either.
We had condition removal. We were using it as we could. We were reflecting the projectiles back as much as we could.
The main issue is the fact that conditions are more or less encouraged by the game – most professions are going to have a huge number of skills that cause conditions, and this particular boss, on top of the ridiculous damage he does, takes conditions and turns them to heals. We respecced for fewer conditions (as best we could, with the group we had it wasn’t easy). We caught on to the attack animations very quickly (I play a Mesmer, I have to know those things to land things like Feedback and dazes correctly). It didn’t help a whole lot.
We were all significantly over the level for the dungeon (two 80s, 1 74, and 2 72s), with runed up armor and up to par weapons and such as well.
I haven’t had this much trouble with a boss since the Fire Elemental in BWE3, and considering the rest of the dungeon, this one seemed really out of whack.

It would be nice if you could do something with the lower level ones. Sure, there’s the mystic forge…but really you don’t get a whole lot out of it from what you put in.
Jewelcrafters have the ability to transmogrify their lower level jewels into higher level ones, so why not allow the other crafting professions do the same?

As far as targeting goes, pretty much. One person can ctrl+click an enemy to call it, and everyone else just has to press T to target that enemy. Very simple.
Account-bound karma would be great. It’d certainly be helpful if you’re using alts as crafters as well – while it’s certainly possible to level and max crafting without karma recipes, it makes things a lot harder.
The problem with crafting (and I’ve maxed two crafting professions – tailoring and jewelcrafting) is that the fine materials are a pain to get. I’ve gone through more gathering tools and salvage kits than I could hope to count, but the fine mats are what stopped me every time.
The problem with them is that they’re random drops that have low drop rates. Your only options with them are to 1) find the mobs that drop the mats you need and farm them and hope you get lucky, or 2) pay the ridiculous prices on the trade post.
It kind of really sucks. I love crafting, but I hate how easy it is to get stonewalled because some of the mats you need are sokittenhard to find and sokittenexpensive to buy. I really hope that they take a look at the drop rates on those and make it so that crafting is actually a true viable alternate to simply buying gear, as I definitely prefer making my own stuff.
I definitely agree. I want to join you as a table :P
But in all seriousness, a “not sellable on trading post” status with a value of 0 copper for these things would be nice – especially for those tonics you get from chests. I have half a storage pane of them. I don’t want to delete them…but they’ll never get any use, most likely. If I could share them with friends, that’d be great. It’d be especially helpful for guilds and groups that like to host events, too.
I’ve already responded to several duplicate posts about this in the BLTC sub-forum. There will be an option at some time in the future to preview Trading Post items.
Thank you! It’s something that’s come up a few times in guild chat, wondering why this doesn’t exist and wanting it.
The HoM was explained years ago.
And GW2 would not exist if GW1 didn’t have such a long-running, long-standing community and group of people who bought and played the game. If they want to give a small reward, in the form of cosmetic items, to those who supported them for the better part of the past decade, then it’s well within their rights to do so.
Also, GW1 was never marketed as an MMO. Looking at the sales numbers for the game, there are a great many people who enjoyed that fact.
repair does seam somewhat prohibitive, one death is 2 renown hearts worth of silver at level 70 for instance, and then you add in travel and so on…..
Where are you doing renown hearts that it costs two to repair a single piece of armor at level 70?
I’m 74, and one piece of armor costs ~1.5s to repair. I just did a level 75 renown heart (Frostgorge Sound) that gave me 3.25s. Not to mention the money from selling loot and the like that you make.
Repair costs are pricey, but they aren’t that bad.
The Hall of Monuments was something in GW1 for players to track achievements they earned. Why do people who haven’t earned the rewards think they’re entitled to have them?
It gets waaaaay too expensive. Right now it costs me 1s25c if I’m standing right next to the waypoint. That’s simply ridiculous.
I gate to LA as much as I can, but that really only helps if you’re going somewhere connected to a city. Being as I’m mostly hitting up the level 70 areas right now…it really doesn’t help.
I love my floral nightlight
Sylvari are awesome, I’ve loved them from the moment they were first shown to us, and I really adore their redesign. Their storylines are amazing, too <3
Here’s my mesmer, Liusaidh.
In time there will be more money flowing in the economy and the prices will not be that bad.
Those are merchant prices, so they aren’t going to change unless ANet changes them.
Anyone out there crafting to make stuff they can use themselves? You just feel much more proud wearing an armor set you’ve created. Buying the material off the trading post costs a lot though. I’ve wasted around 1g to get 100 levels in leatherworking. Worth it though.
Basically, if you’re gonna start crafting, make sure it’s something that can benefit you and not just hurt your wallet.
That’s the main reason I do crafting. I know I’m not going to make money off of it, and I never set out to be able to do so. I like it so much because I can make nifty things that I can use, or that I can give to friends to use.
Also, you can transmogrify your low-level stones into the next level up with dust, which helps greatly if jewels are what you’re running low on.
I’m still low level but that’s definitely something I’ll bear in mind. I always try to reuse items unless I’m low on cash and can sell them for decent prices.
It’s really handy but is something I think many people tend to overlook. I never did it much myself (I had an overabundance of jewels up until I started working with mithril) but now I try to transmogrify up as much as I can so I don’t have to buy jewels to work with.
I’m still only at 23 (I’m not much of a gamer so I end up slacking!) so hopefully this will help me level up a bit faster when I eventually get to that stage! Also, you can buy jewels? I assumed they were only discoverable by mining etc.
Trading post! :P Most are pretty cheap at the lower level side of things – certainly cheaper than most of the fine crafting materials that you need for other crafting professions tend to be.
The trading post will become your best friend if you get seriously into crafting.

Also, I should point out – my jewelcrafter was level 3 when I started crafting with her, and she’s now level 14. I have done exactly two hearts and one story quest. Her leveling is entirely through crafting so far. You level a lot when you craft.
Discoveries are things you figure out by yourself by combining various things in the discovery pane – it’s the top tab in your crafting pane when you’re at a station.
What level are you at in jewelcrafting that you’re having trouble?
I’m currently about 330 in jewelcrafting, and this is the first time I’ve slowed down once I broke 50. It’s so easy to level once you break 50 (that being the only point where you’ll have to make multiples of an item). I usually hit the next tier before I’ve discovered everything I could make.
Discovery is key. Make a few settings, bands, hooks, chains, and filigrees, and throw everything together in the discovery pane. You’ll find yourself progressing very quickly once you start doing that.
Getting past 50 is the tricky part, though. When you’ve just got copper to work with, you’ll be making quite a few multiples. Those I usually salvaged to get the copper back, as I had less copper than lower level jewels to work with.
Also, you can transmogrify your low-level stones into the next level up with dust, which helps greatly if jewels are what you’re running low on.
Good luck!
We may be the unofficial Guild Wars 2 twitter community guild, but that doesn’t mean you have to be a twitter user to join us! [TWIT] is a fairly casual guild with an emphasis around being a friendly, social group. Most of us concentrate on PvE, but there’s quite a few people who also do WvW and SPvP.
Our home server is Jade Quarry, but a good number of our members are spread across many servers. While our most active times are going to be during US peak times, we’re an international guild with a good number of people on the EU servers as well. The guild structure is fairly casual – I have a co-leader, a handful of officers, and trusted members are given invite privileges as well.
There are no activity requirements to be a member of the guild – basically so long as you can follow our rules (quite simple), all are welcome to join; for some of us this is our main guild, for some it’s a secondary guild for social purposes. Either way, it’s all good!
We have a forum, twitter account, and vent server, as well as the guild bank in-game. Make sure you check out the rules thread on the forum if you want to join us.
http://twitguild.enjin.com/home
http://twitter.com/TWITGuild
If you’re interested in joining, just go ahead and join the forums and post in the Usernames thread or send us an @ message on twitter, so then someone can get you invited and set up. If you don’t want to join the forum or don’t have twitter, then whispering me in-game will also work, but you may have to wait a bit longer as I’m not online 100% of the time.
