I can’t really compare to other servers as I have never been in a high tier server (I’m in HoD and joined during the free fall). I also can’t say for sure how it’s going to be since we had many new transfers. We zerg fights in our tier, but they are totally avoidable, specially now that you can see them coming.
I love to roam with small groups and solo. But when I read your comment, I would probably not roam with you. The reason is that I do care for points. I love when a small fight happens and I don’t shy away from them. But I’m also quite interested in our current position in the map, taking strategic points, killing yaks and helping the zerg when needed. The only thing I can’t stand doing is running yaks. So if we were together and cutting some supply from an enemy keep is important, I’ll ask my party to join. If they don’t, I’ll go anyway.
Sometimes I also can’t find a team because I feel holding some camp is better than going for the next one or chasing enemies. Don’t you think that maybe you can’t find groups because you you didn’t find people to do exactly what you wanted?
It was like this at release too. Eternal and your home map has the longest wait. Start in one of the others, then when in, que home or eternal if that’s what you were aiming for. Still a long wait, but at least you can do something while you wait… after you wait.

Some people like the queues. We like knowing that we are fighting roughly even forces. thats just one reason why we’re on T1 servers.
If you want more room in the maps than you have players just go to T8. Server transfers there are free right now.
Now you can play your non-capped maps and I can play my capped maps and we can all be happy without having to take away what either of us like about the game.
Many people have transfered to high tier servers and this massive number of players create queues. The caps are good and should be there. Anet does not have to ruin the whole system just so one player should be happy. If OP wants no queues, then your best approach is to transfer to low tier servers, like the ones being offered for free now. Both ET and FC need some extra players.

The other server’s borderlands are also instances. Did you try them?
Yesterday I was in Fireheart Rise (1) and my guild decided to do a guild mission. From Fireheart Rise (1) I went to Fields of Ruin (2) to kill a bounty. We kill the bounty and I get my chest. When I´m trying to move to Hearts of the Mist before going to the second location my client crashed and I couldn´t log back in. I checked on reddit and others were having the same problem. Tried a few more times to log back in and couldn´t, so I gave up for the night.
Today I log on and an error came up mentioning that the waypoint I was going to became contested (I was going to Hearts of the Mists when I crashed) and I was reverted back to the closest waypoint. I saw the loading screen for Fields of Ruin (2) and then it changed to the loading screen from Fireheart Rise (1). Then my character showed up in Fireheart Rise (1) where I was before going to the guild mission. When I checked, I did not have the new guild commendations I got yesterday when doing the guild bounty (I also did not have the 2 rares in my bag). I also checked with other guild members and they got their guild commendations and were not rolled back.
Was I the only one rolled back? Can I still get my guild mission chest?
I feel HoD has a great community even though we have a website with a forum (it’s basically not used). So you guys shouldn’t judge FC and ET even if they don’t have one.

While they haven’t changed the wording, They changed the list from the initial 3(ET, FC and HoD) to all 6 servers in the bottom two tiers.
I don’t think that NSP, GoM and SF magically lost a large amount of population in the 2-3 hours in between the two versions of the announcement.
The population is based on current population (as in number of players online at the time). At night, only the previous 3 will remain at medium.

Yep the system works great until you lose variation, and that is what T8 has done…The way I see it is basically:
you wanna move up? —->beat a good opponent
you want a good opponent? —->you gotta move upThat is the abyss/glicko ghetto/vicious cycle/issue that most of us have in T8.
You got that one perfectly. I would just add that, although this problem is more evident in T8, this is not exclusive to you. I feel like if this system continues, it will affect other tiers as well. I’m trying to keep this thread going so that someone in Anet will listen before it’s unbearable. You also made a good comment in what I reproduce below.
Want to know why you poor little dears have to read all of these “whiney” threads? Because ANET refuses to even respond! Hell we dont even get the standard “we are working on it” from time to time that culling got, some of us would even take a kitten off from ANET, at least we would know where we stand…..Without manipulating the current system the same 3 servers could be in T8 for anywhere from 2 more months to 10 more months…Hell if it was a close matchup you would likely see no complaining, but when SF only shows up half the time and is winning by 200k most times there has to be a problem (see attachment from score update today)….

How many of these matches are already decided? I would say the only exciting matches right now are in tiers 2 and 7. On other tiers, many players will be giving up and hoping to do better next week since they know there is no chance anymore. Now look at next week’s projected match up. No servers are changing tiers, so there is a good chance that only 2/8 of the servers will have fun for the whole week again.
The current system can be improved by quite a lot. Note that I’m not just some random person saying this. I have a PhD in mathematics and I currently work doing research while publishing regularly in high quality journals (I’m Erdös number 2, for those who know what this means). I’ve been watching these numbers weekly and it bothers me so much whenever I do any analysis on them.
I’m also looking for a better solution than the one I provided. I still feel it’s the best to maintain good matches for at least 3/4 of each month if the scores are balanced. If the scores are not balanced, then this change will update the matches faster while keeping the Glicko scoring system (which is a good thing). Note that tampering with the scores by hand is not a solution that keeps the Glicko score (which is a bad thing).
There are only 2 solutions for T8:

2) Give a incentive to ET and FC receive a population boon, that might make the Matchup more balanced.

If he does not and his score does not beat the server he just knocked off, he’ll come back to his previous tier. This only makes sense by looking at how Glicko works.

So how does this decide on which of the 3 in the tier above drop down? I mean assuming one does not also lose (place 3rd) 3 times in a row?
Whoever is third on the accumulated Glicko score for that week. In other words, whoever would have been the red team for that week. This would provide enough mobility to have Glicko work quite well and update much faster.

When I posted this, SF had 120 rating points abyss between HoD (and was losing rating even while roflstomping the match)… No server would gain 120 rating in 1 match unless it’s a huge blowout. Thus SF would just drop back, and thanks to glicko weirdo formula, SF would suffer somenthing around 200 rating loss at the first week back, just for dropping back.
SF doesn’t need to gain 120k points. They would just need to gain 60k points while HoD losing 60k also. Also, the current difference is of 52k points. Next week it should be estimated to be 50k since we had a good week. They would just have to gain 25k points while we would have to lose 25k points. But remember, we would be in the T8 abyss, so it would probably happen (we might even lose 50k points all together).
This solution would work. Just check your numbers a bit better.
I think they removed the requirement for population to be at medium… once they realized which 3 servers were medium at the time and how it would unbalance WvW they just changed it to be all 6 servers in T7&8

I’m currently at work. How are the server populations right now? Are GoM and NSP also at Medium? I’m really worried about HoD becoming overcrowded.
I’m not even remotely excited about another round of free transfers. A few things will end up happening, our very close fun match up is likely to becoming lopsided for one. That will suck if it turns out to be the case.
I’ve enjoyed being able to join a larger fight without falling into lag hell and dying instantly. Judging by how bad it got last night with the big [Mend] zerg alone, I will be stuck roaming around again hoping not to get rolled over. That said with the culling gone and the options put in, my not so impressive rig handles a lot better than it did. The increase I see in mid sized fights however will be for nothing if we end up with lol40+zerg all day everyday though.
This isn’t a complaint per say, just a little wary of the outcome. The patch as a whole I’m enjoying (though the progression skills are somewhat unexciting)
I agree that our tier is way too fun and I wish for it to stay the same. Too bad I don’t think it will happen with these free transfers. It is possible that HoD will become too strong for this tier and the match up will either break or we will go up a few tiers and stop at a tier that is not as fun as this one. It all depends on how many transfers we get.
On the other side, TCMM joining GoM would have broken this tier without transfers to HoD. There is a chance that we can find balance again. I just hope we do.

All these people defending the Glicko system and saying they just need to reset points…. Might I bring up the one week where the matchup site had all servers at equal points? The lowest tier servers where one server DOMINATES the whole week ended up in tier 1, and ballanced matchups ended up being moved down a few, to several tiers. I think it goes without saying that, the poor low tier servers would end up getting stomped, and the point system would be borked for well over a month because of it.
Maybe I should make myself a bit more clear. Glicko is not the problem, but there is a problem on how Anet is using the Glicko system. The problem is the lack of variety in opponents, which should happen for the Glicko scoring system to work well. There IS a problem. People should just see that the problem is NOT the Glicko scoring system. It’s just how it’s being applied.
I posted this thread because understanding the problem is crucial to offer a good solution. BTW, I think that the free transfer solution that was used is an awful solution.

Well, [Mend] moved to HoD and aparently there are more people interested in leaving ET to the same way so you guys might get a few extra numbers.
Thank you very much for the help. We really need it. If we were having a tough time before, imagine now that GoM grew even more. They got a new guild in with a bunch of new players and, from what I can tell by fighting them, they are very tough.

By the way, I’ve even posted about the problem on T8 before. I have a thread on it and you can see on my post history if you’d like. At first, I thought Anet’s solution to T8 was to let people transfer to ET/FC. Although my initial reaction was that this was not the best solution, I now see what might really happen. The solution that Anet gave you guys was a free trasfer to HoD. Totally not what should have been done. They should have given a way for SF to leave T8.
I also wonder if I feel there are more players because I can actually see more players. The size of the armies I’ve seen I had never seen before. The end of culling is GREAT!!

I also noticed some increase in our numbers. I’m just curious if it’s people trying out the new WvW patch or if it’s new permanent WvW players from transfers. I’m wondering how things will become when the WvW novelty wears off for the tourist players.
I thought you guys had even more since you had huge numbers in your border, EB and our border. I tried all of them. When our HoD force tried GoM border, you guys held back really well and our borderland suffered really bad.
Btw, I’ve gathered quite a lot of respect for GoM. You guys play really well. I envy your strategies many times.
As a DH member, I will not say anything about DH server since it was already posted. I will say however, that GoM/HoD are 2 great servers to go for. If 1 of them had you guys when we fought them for 7 weeks in a row, we would have lost more than our first week. HoD has some great players and they dont whine about be outmanned durning off peak hours(I was there for a week to get a few PoI i needed). PvE they had more people in Orr than DH had(changed now).
Give HoD a try and you may not be disappointed about them as aserver in WvW.
Also, HoD gave us a run for the money more times than any other server we faced since we lost guilds and had to rebuild.
Thank you very much for your thoughts on us. We try really hard with our numbers. As you can see, we even got a bit more organized recently and have been doing much better. Hope to face you guys again.

On topic, yeah, HoD has to offer right now free transfers and a strong player base even with low numbers. T7 has had the closest matchups these last two weeks and it has been a blast. We cannot offer you high tiers, but we can offer you maps with no queues so you can play whenever you want. We can also offer a team in WvW that does not give up, no matter how outmanned we are. The times we lead the score by such a slight edge can attest to that.
In T3 of the NA ladder, the new WvW meta post-patch is simple. Form one mega-zerg, abandon all other maps. Roll around speed capping everything, switch maps when needed.
Now how is this different than before? Very simple. Everyone wants to maximize their WXP. This is done by mega-zerging. Dragonbrand is doing this, YB is doing this, SoS is doing this.
But here is why it breaks WvW, there is no incentive to fight another zerg. There is no incentive to defend or upgrade anything. There is no incentive to split off the mega-zerg. In fact, there is a negative stigma now to upgrading buildings. You want to cap things as quick as possible, you want the enemy to cap your things as fast as possible, so that you can cap them back quicker(and get more WXP). Each server’s mega-zerg rolls across a borderland map, and they generally swap around the same time so no server has their mega-zerg on the same map at the same time.
I am very curious, are your servers doing the same thing? I suspect all servers are doing it right now.
Is this just a patch-day phenomenon? Or is this the new meta-game for WvW? If this style of play becomes the norm then WvW just became a permanent WXP train, without skill or tactics, or any decision making at all.
WvW can be so much fun. If anyone wished to play that way, then it’s their problem.

@Timid Yeah I agree, thoI think for a condition damage build I probaly would go with the Net Turret and Rocket Turret or Flame Turret, I really like the extra controll that one brings! But Toolkit is for sure a strong pick (it allways is)! The reason I take the Grenade kit is so I actually can do stuff in zerg fights, not that I often care to join in on that tho, but wanna test out the new LOS thingie!

Yeah I had up to the patch been running without a stun breaker aswell, using Mine or Net Turret for the lul’s, and it makes you so powerfull n 1vs1 situations if your able to control the fight (Net Turret is a beast 1vs1 against D/D elementalist ect) Didn’t have much trouble without it, only a few 100% Glass Cannon Theives that got the jump on me gave trouble, and they won’t after this nerf!
I don´t see how glass cannon thieves will be nerfed so that you´ll be able to deal with them. They can still approach you in full invis and deal a huge damage combo with basilisk venom which was not nerfed.

Why is a bomb build sexy now? Is it just because of the Kit Refinement?
Not sure that global cooldown is helpful. I currently run bombs and I’m not sure it’s worth it since I run 3 kits. Won’t be able to count on the bomb one going off. Might just get super speed from the tool kit instead which would not help me much.
Free transfers to small sized servers (which I believe includes Henge of Denravi). Wonder what it’ll do to this matchup (or tier 8, for that matter!)!
We need a few more people. Just hope not too much that we get queues on all maps. That would suck and I would prefer no transfers at all.
Hopefully, if we get a few transfers, the population becomes High and no more free transfers will come.
I also think the free transfers will not impact WvW right away. It might come from some disconnected players as a guild transfering would lose it’s influence in Guild Missions.

It is. I’m quite happy of being in this tier. And the best thing is, we’re HOT and there are no queues. At least for HoD, we can queue at most one map.
Speaking for myself, the last thing i want to do is to go fair fight a thief or a mesmer because quite frankly thats hard lol, engineers tend to have a tough time due to class limitations ( there is a reason why you see so few of us). Just dont make me fight whiterose again…clones, confusion stacks then she stealthed and went back to near full hp >.> what a pain.

You shouldn’t underestimate your own class. I’ve met really strong engineers. And the one in this video is defeating several times one of our most famous mesmers
Drakeco is too kitten. I always watch his videos and I highly recommend this to other engies.

Actually whats ignorant is expecting 7 other Tiers to be ajusted because T8 is unhappy. That and posting a new thread every day is just pathetic. The bottom line is ANY other server is going to crush T8 just as SF is doing now, only it will probably be worse.
I am happy with how my matchups have happened, I would not be happy if they changed everything to cater to 1 Tier that kitten es and moans instead of using the transfer.
you are obviously unfamiliar with the match history. you dont understand the rating system, or why it has problems. you dont understand that the fix i just proposed wouldnt affect your matchups, or that it would fix mine, and prevent similar events from occurring in the future.
Although your solution does fix the T8 problem, the Glicko score is not supposed to be tampered with. The Glicko score should give good results given that two things are maintained:
1) The scores are updated only using the Glicko formula.
2) Players have a chance to play against other players with a varied score.
The problem with Anet’s use of Glicko is that it respects (1) while not respecting (2). Your solution would then break rule (1). That is probably not the right answer. I feel your solution would inflate everyone’s scores in the long run. It’s just that inflating the bottom servers would end up redistributing that score to everybody else. Furthermore, Glicko’s scores are not to be tampered with.
A proper solution would be something that would make rule (2) without breaking rule (1). My proposition is just to have a server that wins a tier 3 times advance into the next tier knocking the third server in the above tier for one week. This gives that winning server a chance to prove himself against higher tier servers. This is only one solution. Other solutions are welcome but they should not mess with rule (1).

OP, you’ve basically said the math is sound but it shouldn’t apply to this system. Which is what’s been said all along. When people say the problem is Glicko, they mean the implementation in this situation, not that the system can’t work in the correct context.
I just still want to know why Glicko is better than a winner-moves-up, loser-moves-down system. Some hubris with having a big long math equation to point at?
I would not like that system so much as many tiers are well balanced. I actually think something better is that a server that wins 3 times moves up for a week with the maintaining his glicko score. That way he would have one week to prove himself on a higher tier. I he doesn’t score enough against the higher scored servers, the glicko system will get him naturally down. If he does well, he just knocked off the last server on the tier above.
This is what I talked about. The problem with Anet’s implementation of glicko is just that there is no way to prove yourself against higher tiered servers once you prove yourself enough on your own tier.
I have to say this as I see many complaints about the Glicko system and it’s being blamed unfairly. The problem that is happening with Tier 8 is not because of the Glicko system. The main problem is how the Glicko scoring system is being employed.
Glicko is supposed to be applied to give scores to players based on their matches with other players. Each person’s score is updated based on the matches he played. If you do well against a highly ranked player, your score can go up even if you lose.
The main problem with gw2’s application of glicko is that sometimes you should be able to play against people with much higher score than yours. If you do and do well on that game, then your score will go up. But since on Tier 8 you are only allowed to play others with very low scores, then the amount of points you gain is limited. Not only that, but your score might be bounded by above from the other team’s scores. That is the problem that is happening right now. The main issue is that the dominating T8 team does not have a chance to prove itself against higher tier teams. It is not the Glicko scoring system. I hope this becomes clear so we can look at the core of the problem.
We play for 1st, we pressure the strongest server all the time, but if you go all out on us ignoring NSP all the while, we sometimes will go all out on you as payback.
If the two bottom servers always fight over scraps, the 1st strong server gets easy wins. Why hand them the victory on a silver platter? Make them work for it. That was my point, and still is.
For the matchup to be challenging for everyone, all three servers should push for 1st place. And that stands for pretty much any game you play, when someone fly away with the lead, you don’t help him usually.

Who exactly is this “we” you speak for? I see GoM attacking us while we’re fighting NSP all the time. We were fighting over wildcreek earlier, and GoM came to fight us instead of attacking klovan or something. Some Gom also made a rather pathetic attempt at AP and orgewatch. I was with the group that just took most of nsp borderlands, and some gom (no idea how many) were just around taking hod’s camps camps instead of going for nsp’s suff. This “we” you speak of isn’t your server as a whole. Some of you people make it sound like gom would never attack any of hod’s structures if we never attacked gom.
Also, I’m pretty sure that “playing for first” is mathematically impossible for hod at this point in the week. Hod is coming in third this week. I’m sorry that we aren’t particularly picky about which of the other two servers come in first. Frankly, I consider it a bigger victory when Hod’s actions cause complaining on the forums. If gom really valued winning the week above all, they wouldn’t be attacking hod just because we attack you. Attacking nsp would almost always be better because every structure taken would deprive the leader points, and hod would be more likely to gang up on nsp with you. Gom has a legit chance to win, but you all need to deprive nsp of points. Gom is playing for second every single time they get kitten over an hod attack or see hod as an easy target.

“We” is a group of dedicated WvW guilds playing at N-A PrimeTime, and usually planning their actions together. The people I play with every night, for months. I don’t speak for them, and they don’t speak for me, but we do have a general agreement. And our agreement is playing for 1st, simple as that.
Can we reach 1st? Usually not. Can we try? We sure give everything we have every week in that attempt.

I usually see PAXA here in the forums with NSP signatures. Yesterday (or might have been the day before) I saw a PAXA group in HoD. What is your situation exactly? Did you guys all transfer? Is it permanent or temporary?
Also for NSP in general. I’ve heard some good things about the battles you’re having on this tier. How would you compare them to battles in T6?
Don’t understand how its important to anyone else where we went. But to answer your question, pvpin on NSP is extremely boring. So our 5 man didn’t quit the game completely, we xfered to HoD to fight a server (NSP) that has generally more than just 30 manning on their minds.

Btw, just some general questions for you guys. Mainly for people from NSP.
I usually see PAXA here in the forums with NSP signatures. Yesterday (or might have been the day before) I saw a PAXA group in HoD. What is your situation exactly? Did you guys all transfer? Is it permanent or temporary?
Also for NSP in general. I’ve heard some good things about the battles you’re having on this tier. How would you compare them to battles in T6?
HoD pulled off a REALLY impressive assault. We repeatedly destroyed all their siege, but that didn’t even slow them down as they just melting down REENFORCED gates with auto attacks in minutes. However, in the long run, it does not appear that this has benefited HoD at all.
Actually, it did benefit us in the long run. Don’t know if you noticed, but stuff like this improves our general morale and more people are showing up in WvW. Currently, improving player morale and getting more people to try out and like WvW is the most important thing for our server (HoD). Sometimes we have these events in EB. Sometimes we have them in NSP borderlands and sometimes in GoM. Sometimes we call people to come just to get map completion. Since people want legendaries, they’ll come and try out WvW for a while. I’d say it has been working quite well.
I just want to give props to the GoM that were held up in the HoD hills lord room. I especially enjoyed the two rams at the entrance. I’m glad you guys didn’t just abandon the keep. I’m really tired of reclaiming things with pvdoor.
Props for the 2nd wave coming in so quick…. Half of us were goofing off on the bridge when you came back thinking we achieved victory lol.
Just to make sure, the first wave was not all dead. I was in that rumble and I didn’t die once. When you guys left, I was killing the keep lord which had left the room. Some pleople saw us killing him and tried to kill us and those died too.
Btw, it was an amazing fight and we would have done much better if people had listened. Right from the beginning I told everyone to leave the bridge, go to the sides and destroy the rams with ranged. That’s what I did and all those who did the same did not die… at least not on that initial part.
Just so people know who I am, I was probably the first one to break into the lord room. As soon as the keep lord was dead, I popped my shield and ran in. After I was behind your siege, I dropped my Big Ol’ Bomb and started bombing the place.

Sadly I didn’t get any SS with the rams / ballistas. We ended up taking it back in forth about 3 times before finally pushing us out of BL.

BTW, you guys put up a great resistance. A similar feel of resistance on Mendon’s with NSP had 3x as many people on their side (sorry NSP, don’t want to put you down, but they did a great job). Keep up the good work!

Not much is needed to fix WvW. I guess the following three things would make this a killer update already:
1) Remove culling
2) Loot goes directly into bag unless it leaves you encumbered, in which case it stays on the ground
3) A way of getting ascended gear by playing WvWIf those three things are in the update, then it is a massive update. Anything else is just the icing on the cake.
Forgot 1 actually: Fix the T8 problem.

On a completely different subject, did anyone else notice the scores in T5? It’s so close. Wonder if this will keep up until the end of the week. I miss the days before the mass transfers when T7 was like that. In the transfers before they bacame paid, HoD was a bit left out.

Some amazing fun in EB last night, ZoS usually doesnt do EB but it seemed we were needed there, and infact arrived when HoD and GoM were both in courtyard and HoD in lordroom. Our t1 keep had no doors or walls… and we held it all night
Some amazing work from our server, some huge pushes from HoD and GoM, its a shame you guys teamed up (i have confirmation from a friend commander on GoM) we (NSP) were really hoping to get some good clean fights in this tier, alas it seems like if two teams fight each other continuously for weeks some alliances may form. I know its not a bannable offence, but its just makes me lose respect for GoM and HoD
and I really liked you guys!
TL:DR thanks for the almost a stack full of badges and loot bags, filled my inventory at least 5 times.
Bit of advice to HoD, stop hiding your mesmers in the inside of the water-gate when we had absolutely no walls or even doors… we were polite guests and let you in for tea and crumpets

Don’t be so sure about that a team up you mention. I was in WvW last night and for about an hour just now. Last night I spent most of my time on GoM borderland and this morning in ours taking out GoM groups. I’m also listening on the Ventrilo servers all the time and there is no mention of that.
I think every server has to stop this teaming up thing. Every server will be attacked from both others at some point in time. It’s a simple matter that there are three servers battling for the same space. I always find ridiculous when people talk about team ups, from all sides. Please stop this.
I feel your build needs more pry bars.

Yeah, they should work. The skill has a setback and it does give you a knockback just as if an opponent did it to you.
Does Protection Injection proc on Overcharged Shot and on Rocket Boots?
I checked it on Heart of the mists and it didn’t work. Does it work anywhere else? Is it supposed to work? Both skills have a description that they give a self knockback.
Should this be added to the known list of bugs?
I’m thinking about doing the following build. Basically, I like to roam around by myself so having means to escape when I find a zerg is a must. It’s not just that I like it, but being in HoD and having a low WvW population will basically force me to roam many times and I will encounter many zergs.
I’ve been trying the Diving into Zergs build (with a mix of the troll build) but I’m not sure it’s there for me. Thinking about it at work I came up with the following build:
Gear and consumables at gw2buildcraft
Skills at gw2skills
As can be seen, this is a tank build which I hope would have some killing power as well. I’ve tried using P/S instead of rifle but there is just so much that a shield can block without being able to escape the range of a zerg coming at me. Toss elixir S is also not reliable for getting that invisibility to finally escape them.
Any suggestions on this build?
Also, I have a question about this build. Does Protection Injection proc on Overcharged Shot and on Rocket Boots? This would be very useful for my build.

Also, how do you like automated response? Never tried it for too long since it doesn’t remove condition applied before reaching 25% healthThe last trait in the elixir line is the one I’ve definitely exchanged most often!
I decided to run with automated response, since conditions are really the only thing I gotta worry about and watch constantly…
The problem with automated response is that it apparently has an unlisted CD of about 60 seconds and that u have no way of telling how much it really saves your kitten
I WISH this trait would give me a buff icon whenever activated :/how much health do you steal with the runes i still think scholar would be most beneficial or something like that.
I use thoses runes primarily for the (6) effect, the mist form on 10% health. I haven’t really paid attention to the life steal yet (have been using runes of grenth until a few days ago, some parts of the video are still with those runes).
I could imagine the life steal not really cutting it since I’m not attacking stuff 24/7 but am spending the same amount time running around, dodging and blocking so I guess I often gain a life steal but then dont use it before the effect wears off.
I’ll pay attention to the amount I steal from now on!I’ve heard some ppl say mist form from those runes sucks but it really has saved me multiple times already. It only works when you have both toughness and vit, though. If you are only a little bit too squishy someone might take your last 10% of health from you without the runes being able to trigger.
Sadly there one very annoying issue with the mist form, using Elixir S just a millisecond too early (= when mist form is still up) will cancel Elixir S once the mist form wears off.
Runes of Scholar isn’t really something I’d consider since my crit chance is pretty much non existent outside of fury.
I’m never above 90% health either xD They would be great for a grenade build, though.
I personally prefer runes that provide some utility! Like the grenth runes already mentioned, once I get tired of Vampirism, Ill go back to those.
They give additional cond dmg, too which really benefits this build.
(Dear Devs, please give us Cond/Vit/Tough gear, I’d choose that over power any day!)Could you list the music?

Loved the video and decided to roll an engineer just because of it. I finally got to lvl 80 and still don’t have my full gear up but I already love it. Came here to mention Runes of Grenth but I guess you already know about them. Runes of Vampirism are bugged so I don’t want to handle the hassle.
The great thing about the runes of grenth is that with a rare veggie pizza, you inflict chill for 5.1 seconds. So the chill effects from runes of grenth and superior sigil of hydromancy gives 10.2 seconds of chill every 10 seconds. You actually can mantain perma-chill if an enemy stays close to you in a fight.
I’m also running Protection Injection instead of Automated Response. Haven’t tried Automated Response yet, but PI has been working quite well for me. Such a great trait.
I already have full exotic soldier armor and weapons. For trinkets, I decided to run exotic Rabid with Chrysocola jewels slotted. I can get the exotic rabid trinkets from Orr karma vendors now. What do you run with?
For the people that asked why some people like the previous working of the med kit, I am one of them and I can explain.
When I’m in battle, sometimes I forget which kit I’m currently using as I switch between them quite a lot. At some point, I need to use the tool kit’s gear shield so I press 6 and then 4 (tool kit is in skill slot 6). The problem is that if I already had tool kit on, I will now use my magnetic shield and stop my character movement, something that was not intended.
What I would like to happen is that if I preceded my skill use by my tool kit slot’s skill, I should use the tool kit’s skill and not my weapon’s skills. This way, I don’t have to worry about which kit I currently have on. I know it might seem stupid to not know which kit you have on, but sometimes on some complicated fights it just happens. I can’t explain it but every other fight I get an incorrect skill use because of this.
I would actually prefer if all kits behaved this way. Anet?

I know many people have complained about the new culling system, but I was actually quite happy for it. It should work better in theory. Since I was not doing WvW for a while, I didn’t notice how it was working out. So today I had a bad experience with it and would like to give my report to see if the devs can get anything out of it.
Most of the time, I was getting great results and I could see many enemies clearly. Earlier today, I was fighting in between Langor Gulch and the Blue Shard Valley to take the keep. (If it helps to identify the proper time in which it happened, DH had control of the keep and the wall was already down). So there was a group of ours (HoD) against a group of DH. Neither of the groups were too big, each one with at most 10 players (probably 7 on each side). I could see the enemies fine, until a point in which they all disappeared. I thought they left so I got closer and started to take damage. So I left and the same thing would happen when I would approach that area. I would take damage and see the effects of projectiles coming in my direction, I just couldn’t see who was casting them, even though as the was no one in front of me. At some point, they started to appear again and I could see them for about 20 seconds until they disappeared again.
Quite an odd behavior. Since I think devs record the game and might have access to replays, this might be a good spot to check out what went wrong. Just check when my character logged in to WvW in the last 24h and when he was around Langor Gulch and DH had control of the keep and the wall was down. In that fight, I would lose sight of my enemies a couple of times with some quite odd behavior.
