Hi everyone,
In this page you will find all you need to know about aggro in GW2. Hope it helps you improve your game experience and feel a bit less targeted.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/AggroThanks for your understanding
Thanks for your reply. A few concerns I have.
1) closest target to them
2) who is dealing damage
3) top damage dealers
4) who is using a shield / has more toughness and overall armor
• As a ranger, I was farthest away and also attacked last using my bow.
• There is a warrior in my group who I’m guessing deals more damage than me.
• I don’t use a shield.
• Not sure how everyone else’s toughness is, but mine is average I think.
As a consequence, to lose aggro, the player moves to be further from the NPC than other players or allies and ceases all attacks. A typically effective Guild Wars 2 technique to lose aggro is to roll away (dodge) from the hostile NPC. This is based on the fact that the distance travelled away from the hostile NPC by rolling is greater than the distance a player could run in the same amount of time. Lastly, a jump seems slower than a run – jumping away from the NPC will not help on a flat surface.
I did this, stopped attacking and just ran the entire time. The boss kept chasing me no matter where I went. One time, the his health resetted after I ran too far even though my party was still attacking.
Odd, I get this on my Ranger too. No other profession I play has this issue, except my Ranger.
It’s to the point that they even keep focusing on me when I’m downed. Had a group once where the mobs just wouldn’t let up on me. Ended up kiting the whole time and eventually got downed. And the mobs just piled up on me until I was dead. Was nice for the rest of the party as they had nothing to worry about, but was hell for me.
This happens pretty much all the time on my Ranger.
This is exactly what happened to me all last night in the dungeon. They were kicking me when I was down and weren’t attacking anyone else.
You have to accept that in America and many other places it is more acceptable for children/young adults to spend their free time virtually committing murder than virtually having sex. As a young father I cannot help but be horrified at this societal norm. But I understand that it exists. Asking for an option to add blood spatter or more death animations/sounds would come off a lot better to the community than asking for nudity/more revealing outfits.
We glorify killing and death, while we shun sex. Seems backwards… but there it is.
You are setting yourself up for a lot of flames friend. Like the other thread on this board, and even if the Devs completely agree with you and want more revealing outfits/nudity in the game, the ESRB would drop an Adult rating on the game faster than you can say “profit loss.”
It wont happen.
I agree with you 100%. Americans censor sexual things, but when it comes to violence, it’s alright to have to have it. Some people on this thread are already flaming the OP.
It’s funny to hear about people saying it’s not practical and they want it to be more realistic. Because fighting dragons, trolls, and talking rats is so realistic.
As for Anet changing armors that were revealing before, I don’t get that either. The Arah armor was something I was working towards for my Warrior. And then they changed it, making me no longer want it. It looks weird now. I think it was fine before, but I guess someone had to complain to get it changed. Next thing we know, they change the T3 Human Cultural cause of under-breast and change the T3 Norn Cultural cause the underwear is showing.
In the end, no matter how revealing or covering an armor is, someone is going to complain about it. It seems like there is always those people who are offended by flesh and will do everything in their power to stop others from viewing it.
They changed the Arah armor because of complaints? I’m guessing it was the girls on this forum who complained since they love to whine about skimpy armor.
I hope they don’t change the T3 Human Cultural – I spent a lot of time and gold to get that.
As for myself, I don’t mind revealing armor on both males and females. If you don’t like it, don’t wear it.
Do you have a lot of Toughness?
I’m not sure what a lot is since I don’t know how my toughness compares to other players. I try to balance it out. Currently it’s at 1,470 for my ranger.
Ya it’s weird. Just tonight I tried an experiment. I had my friends attack first and I just laid back and attacked much later, and that’s when the boss started chasing me around.
I used my ranger for that, but even with my elementalist, I get the enemy only chasing me too.
This has been going on since forever so I finally decided to ask.
Anyone know why the enemy only attack me? It’s almost as if I’m the only person in the game.
Not complaining, just curious to see if it’s my stats, armor, weapons, or maybe my luck is really bad. Or my character is so hot that they all love/hate me.
No matter who I play with, whether it’s random people in events or my guild, in PvE or in a dungeon, the enemy completely ignores the other players and they chase me, and all I do is run around while everyone else kills them. I don’t mind the lesser mobs, but when it’s the champions or in a dungeon, it gets frustrating.
I’ve used different characters with different professions and it’s the same result.
My friends notice it too, so it’s not just me who sees it. We are all level 80, but it’s happened even before I hit 80 and it happens a lot especially when I play with them. It doesn’t happen as much with random players, but enough to be frustrated.
I’m flattered that the enemy loves chasing me and I like the challenge, but it gets annoying after so many times.
Does this happen to anyone else?
the problem would be the roleplayers playing as asura since asura are so small they kinda look like kids.
I wouldn’t look forward to seeing the old Asura females and their sagging raisins.
My last word in this matter; More sex less violence America.
More violets, less violence.
1) Champions / hard units Need to have higher drop rates
Are you kidding?
We beat the Champion Karka guarding the rich orichalcum ore vein and I got a mantle worth a whopping 74 copper!
I can now retire.
I’d rather have cold scientific fact other that a poorly drawn picture as proof in this matter.
It’s an infographic – graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge intended to present complex information quickly and clearly. They can improve cognition by utilizing graphics to enhance the human visual system’s ability to see patterns and trends. The process of creating infographics can be referred to as data visualization, information design, or information architecture.
All the references for the data are at the bottom of the picture.
Aye, tis true.
Ever since this game came out, I’ve gained weight and look like a Norn.
I exercise, but not enough.

Well, as they say, Skritt Happens.
Darn right it does.
I always wondered what happened to this hair, I loved it from when I first saw it :/
That is nice hair.
I also like the outfit.
And the girl is hot.
=X
Is that from GW1?
I hope people continue to play. I need that stupid skill point at the top of the cathedral in Malchor’s Leap. Can’t do it by myself. Ain’t nobody got time fo dat.
What are you talking about man, we almost get 2 silver per lvl80 event. TWO! That’s like, omg major reward right there.
Vote GW2 best rewards in video game history
Seriously. You work your b*tt off to get to level 80 and to get to Orr, then you have to fight level 80 monsters, and you get 2 silver for an event!
(edited by VictoriousMonk.7150)
Could’ve sworn I saw one in Orr.
Or maybe I took a bite out of a ghost pepper and was trippin’. That might be it.
A Covington pirate walks into a bar in Lion’s Arch with a peg leg, a parrot on his shoulder, and a steering wheel on his pants.
The bartender says, “Hey, you’ve got a steering wheel on your pants.”
The pirate says, “Yaarrrr, I know. It’s driving me nuts!”
If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you’re gonna see some serious skritt.
This skill point was a bit annoying to get. The Spirit of Excess creatures respawned way too quickly. I thought I cleared them out, but as I was about to fight the veteran, they gradually respawned.
I didn’t even take that long – my character has pretty good strength. Plus you have to commune with the statue so that gives the creatures even more time to respawn.
I just tried this tonight and got the same result. I beat him, but it still didn’t give me the point. This is in Wayfarer Foothills BTW.
Edit: Just did it again. You have to talk to him before or after the fight. That got me the point.
(edited by VictoriousMonk.7150)
Whats worse… Superior Sigil of Luck shows up as accuracy on weapon’s name.
Just added the Superior Sigil of Luck to my weapon and it still shows up as accuracy.
It became the Ebon Vanguard Greatsword of Accuracy instead of Luck or whatever.
I’m having this problem right now as well (yes, 3 months after the initial post).
I also use dual monitors and full screen mode. The minimize only happens during battle and it has killed me a few times.
It is strange because it has only happened recently and I have not changed any hardware or software.
Can you please help out? I prefer not to fix it with a third party program.
Any profession using a bow and arrow should have a quiver when equipped, even just for aesthetic purposes, like the engineer and their backpack. And it should be available from the start of the game.
Personally, I like the Legolas/Hawkeye/Katniss look.
Happened to me again in Dredgehaunt Cliffs in Kolkorensburg. I cleared out a few of the spiders to make it easier to kill the veteran guarding the rich iron ore, but they respawned before I got a chance to kill the veteran. Barely even hurt it.
Well, as a girl I would love to see more “normal” types, though again, what is present in the game isn’t too bad. I mean, there’s plenty of other games with Tomb Raider like features. I’ve made my female human average enough that she isn’t a Barbie or Anorexic Anna :P just takes a bit of tweaking.
So yeah, I bet all the whiners are likely men anyhow. I find nothing overly sexist, or patriarchic in the shapes that come with the game. Except maybe male whiners. :]
Who the heck is whining? Seems like people here wanted normal shapes, or somewhere in the middle. Plus there’s a girl who wants boob sliders.
I really like the female pirate clothing in the gem store. Unfortunately, I’m not willing to spend 700 on it. If it was regular armor, I’d think about it.
Did you get a Black Lion Key?
6/10
Hard to see the face and kind of a weird angle/pose. Outfit is hot though.
Mine before and after haircut.
Ever cleared mobs before a veteran?
By the time the veteran is at 50% at least one mob will have respawned on top of you.
Usually sooner, and usually more than one…Kill 3 normal mobs, kite the fourth = guarantee to run into the first mob you killed again.
Many other examples to be found.
This is what exactly happens to me. I forgot where but it has happened a few times.
Then when you kill the Champ the chest ALWAYS drops. I couldn’t resist. I’m also of the belief that really making a Champ drop a chest every time and that it can have ascended pieces as well, completely revitalizes the open world game. Such a little step could do so much good. Also have a 50/50 chest drop on vets or something like that.
I wish that would happen. We killed the Champion Karka, and all I got was a mantle worth 74 copper. Super.
Our group recently defeated the champion Karka guarding the rich orichalcum ore, and all I got was a mantle worth 74 copper.
#guildwarsproblems
After playing an engineer, I got really, really bored. I stopped at level 26 and recently made a new character that’s a ranger. I love it and I like how the ranger can use many weapons.
Also, I think the ranger needs a quiver. Going for that Legolas/Hawkeye look. It just looks silly without one.
I enjoy this class – way more fun than the engineer, for me at least.
Only 1 stacking sigil will take effect. I learned the hard way and wasted money and applied Bloodlust and Luck to two different weapons, but only got the effect of one of them (I forgot which).
Pet Champion Karka
I’ll have to go home and check out the loading screens as there are ones I liked but can’t remember. I do remember liking the Frostgorge Sound drawing.
Question: Where are those statues in the loading screen of Kessex Hills?
Ya this blows.
It’s Friday.
It’s raining.
I don’t feel like going out.
I want to play Guild Wars 2.
Guess I’ll go exercise.
And then go to the buffet and get some Dolyak meat.
The reason many complain isn’t just because of skimpy armor in and of itself (though some of it really gets very very silly) but also because you’re often not given options. As Araushnee says, variety is good. You wear that skimpy miniskirt, I’ll wear the awesome robe, both of us are happy.
Well if that were the case, then the topic would be along the lines of “can we get more variety?” But the OP was talking about skimpy armor.
Yes variety is good, but once the topic of skimpiness for females comes up, that’s when the hate starts to come out (and it seems to be mostly from females). If you read through the thread (not just this one, but in any forum where the topic of skimpy armor comes up), you’ll see these common replies:
“you need to get out more”
“you need a girlfriend”
“go level up your social skills to 80”
“wanting skimpy armor is immature”
“go look at porn”
I hate repeating myself, but just because someone wants their character to look sexy doesn’t mean they are lacking in social skills. It’s a fantasy game. I wish people would understand that.
As you said, someone can wear the awesome robe, let someone else wear skimpy armor.
When the movie 300 came out, I didn’t hear any guys complain that the men wore skimpy armor as much as girls complain about skimpy armor on females.
And I’m curious: Girls want skimpy armor for males. Do they want it for equality or do they really want skimpy armor on males for their characters?
For the females, behold, the ultimate armor:

The mouse pointer doesn’t blend in with the background, it completely disappears. It is very annoying, especially when doing AoE skills.
You’d think they’d fix it by now.
I’m a female in my late 20’s and I love skimpy armor. I can’t play an MMO without skimpy armor. I really don’t get this stereotyping that only immature males have scantly clad females; and females have fully covered females. My husband used to dress his characters in sexy stuff when he played MMOs. I don’t think he is immature or weird for doing it. It was fun playing with him because we would go after the same outfits. I wear sexy armor because I want to look sexy. I don’t think skimpy armor is sexist and degrading. If anything I consider it empowering. I want to make heads turn. Well, not so much in video games, but in real life I actually like being hit on. In real life though I can’t wear stuff like that, and wouldn’t because I know it is way to inappropriate. That and I’m married now. But with the fantasy setting, I can actually wear what I would love to wear in real life if I could get away with it.
My favorite outfit I had in a MMO was in AoC. I wore sandals, a headband, and a loincloth. That was it. I felt very “free” with no top on whatsoever. It was awesome fun. And I loved the guys that ran around in just a loincloth too.
I don’t expect Guild Wars to ever have mature levels of skimpy armor, but it would be nice to see more skimpy options especially in the medium armor. Heavy armor I think lacks too when it comes to the humans. Also most heavy armor looks bulky and I want something form fitting like the gladiator set from GW1. But it is important to have as much variety as possible. While I do want more skimpy armor, if everyone was in skimpy armor then I wouldn’t feel special (Tera is an example of that).
I wish more girls had the same intelligence and open mind as you. Instead, they just complain and make fun of guys who want skimpy armor.
I’d ask you to marry me but somebody beat me to it.
That is all.
Anything but farm. Dailies, achievements, map completions, etc. Is farming the only thing to do in the game?
And how do you manage to not make money? Farming(as in, killing the same mobs over and over or running the same dungeon over and over) is possibly the worst way to make money in this game. Except sPvP, but that’s a whole different story. You can make money from:
- resource gathering
- dungeons
- WvWvW
- jumping puzzles
- dragon events
- various small stuff: map completion(that made me 15g for the pve part), various achievements that require you to kill things(daily, slayer, weapon master)
The problem is when you want to make 10g/h by running around. That just…won’t happen.
I make money, and I’ve done those things on that list (except dungeons – I’ve only done 1). I’m just not extremely rich like people who have commander icons, all tier 3 armors, and all that stuff. I haven’t gotten enough gold for 1 tier 3 armor. I’m curious how much time they put into the game. I’m wondering if I have to put the same amount of time, which would take me a while because of work.
there is no fun way to make money in this game. it is all a repetitive grind.
Totally. As someone who works 40 hours a week, I want to play the game when I get home and have fun. I don’t want to farm. That is absolutely boring to me. I don’t think I can ever afford all the tier 3 cultural armor.
Just wondering…what do you actually do in the game?
Anything but farm. Dailies, achievements, map completions, etc. Is farming the only thing to do in the game?

What is it with you guys automaticly thinking that only (other) guys wants the skimpiness? Dudes, some girls like the skimpy too.
You will likely find that some of the skimpy sets are infact designed by female designers, not teenage boys -_-
Because it’s usually the girls who complain about skimpy armor and make fun of guys who want skimpy armor. Or they want skimpy armor on men just because they want equality. Here’s an example, among the many in this thread:
ragingpuma.4618:I want less skimpy armour. please leave the skimpy kitten to the lesser mmo’s that i have no interest in playing. or atleast give us male skimpy armour so as i feel males are degraded also ty..
^ That sounds like a 14 year old girl’s comment.
It’s a fantasy game. Girls will wear skimpy armor while fighting dragons. If you don’t like it, don’t wear it. Simple. In fact, don’t even play.
Also, just because a guy wants skimpy armor on their character doesn’t mean they lack social skills or they “need to get out more” nor are they immature. I know guys in real life who play this game and they are not immature. They have a career, girlfriends or wives, but they play this game because it’s fun.
And yes, the main designer for the costumes in the game is a female. Take it up with her if you have any problems. Or just stop complaining about skimpy armor on females – I’m sure she hears it enough already.
Can we have this pirate armor as regular medium armor? I haven’t bought it – it was a disguise for one of the personal stories. I think 700 gems is ridiculous to spend on town clothing.
Medium armor in general has no variety and has so many long coats. This one is good looking and different.
(edited by VictoriousMonk.7150)
Why do some want every new revealing armor to have a one non revealing armor counterpart?
When this game is really lacking revealing armor to begin with.
Because girls complain about skimpy armor on females.
Well that sucks! I can barely afford to eat! Thanks for the info.
Edit: 700 gems is a lot for clothing you can only wear in town. That should be armor. That totally blows.
(edited by VictoriousMonk.7150)
I had to wear this disguise on a personal mission (I think it’s level 26) where I had to practice talking like a pirate and fight undead in Gendarran Fields.
I like the outfit. Anyone know the name and where to get it?
Thanks.
Yeah I really should read the stickies first =P
I guess this thread can be deleted.
I saw that also. Easiest kill ever.
Good thing they didn’t have laser beams attached to their heads.
Elementalist. It’s fun using all the elements and magic. I also like the armor choices.
Also, I met a leprechaun who told me to burn things.
Yeah i think thats the problem i kind of like the look of coats when i had a male engineer but with my female thief it just looks bad for me.
IMO it should be bettter if it was different for female like with light armor.
Like this for example:
Those are sweet. Where are those from?
Also, it seems some medium armor are meant for thieves/assassins, not for engineers or rangers. Example is the human cultural tier 3 armor.
It would be great to have a variety of medium armor. The long coats are nice, but there are too many.
