This is really the positive vibe I was looking for in WvW T4 .

SBI Garri eventually fell – but knowing some of our tactics we threw bodies at your garrison haha.

Nice SEA coverage – after capping alot of the borderlands and EB SBI rallied to recap almost all of their map and their entire corner of EB. Also, you sneaky CD in SoS borderlands had 2 golems – not 1 like we thought! Taking bay in SoS was brilliant considering we had the arrowcarts and balistae to defend!

And Waffer – you do have a commander tag… on your lvl 5 mule / alt

Talk about classy – they respect us alot more than even in T3 – Coming from SBI a server who fell much like us after major guilds left for SoR, they have the T1 experience but none of the attitude.

And CD folks are just cool. Kudos to thier commander of Aeon (I think it was Aeon or something like that) – thier organized zerg balls wiped my disorganized zergs many times a few nights ago on their paper water gate.

You folks make WvW fun again.

Ah – how about this – a level penalty lock – where you go into hero window set your level to be 1-10 levels below content – this will make down scaling work for you in that you will be as low level as you desire but not need to worry about turning off EXP gain.

You will get level specific loot and area specific loot.

Or did you envision something different?

Either way it doesn’t matter. SoS will be leaving T3 for T4 and you folks will get maguuma to deal with.

In any case – the nights I played in WvW these past few sets were exciting and exhilarating. I got to see how good commanding was done, and got to experience how bad I can be at commanding. All in all the back and forth was fun – I picked up a few ideas on what I should be doing in the future, and started developing my own signature commanding style. It was thanks to DB and YB who pressured on us on off hours that got me into commanding. To both of you, my friends, I say good luck.

May I see you again, I vow to be a wiser and forceful commander. Until we see each other on the battlefield.

Mada – that is a very interesting observation.

I’ll confirm from my side that the NA servers has alot of the spread out ops and PPT capture before tick to then give up a resource after tick as it has no strategic value.

Heck I’ve held bay before just to tick and told the guys to warp out and hit something else (bay is not easily defensible once they break into the outer and you have no supply and no siege, and no backup army to wipe them).

But I’d mention while NA servers have NA population, we do also have SEA / Oceanics / RUS / some EU. A formalized old fashioned battle is not something alot of players will do in their time slot unless the servers are matched up in the same time slot. I think that alot of the romance of open battle field engagements are removed in the NA servers as zergs arn’t meant to usually fight another zerg head on, but to capture objectives and wipe another zerg.

Its when both sides have the same romantic notion of war that they intentionally go to the field to fight a war – both zergs objective is to destroy one another.

I’ll also go as far to say that some of the NA population would rather mess around hampering their opponents than to face them dead on – troll tactics – where as an objective is capped so the enemy zerg has no supplies for 4 mins. This is guerrilla / trolling warfare. I tend to think that some people in the NA population enjoy seeing the anguish of others rather than facing an opponent on a fair footing and dukking it out.

But enough of what I think.

OK so – I’ll agree that other than adding the rank system and fixing the culling there are still alot of things we want from WvW – including additional buildings / architecture to siege from – think destructible buildings which we can use supply to repair but is a neutral controlled asset.

But for the Ascended equipment – there was always laurels – it just takes forever to get them. If you say “but oh PvE fractalers get ascended equipment faster” take my experience – did 26 runs on f10 with no ascended rings dropping – yes I got mine AFTER using pristines but that’s almost a full month of work. I’m not saying that ascended equipment shouldn’t be gotten if you do WvW only – There SHOULD be more options like using a gift of battle + gold to buy an ascended item.

Just to summarize – make destructible neutral buildings for us to siege from, add more ways to get ascended equipment via badges <- they are probably working on both.

I didn’t expect this update to be the cure-all update, but one to spice up the WvW general life. Do we always need to have new shineys? Are we more like skritt or are we human / sylvari / asuran / charr / norn?

The fact is Anet is working on it – WvW is interesting with the new ranking – and the culling fix was a MAJOR fix. More / different siege , more / different maps , and bug fixes are going to be done eventually. With the rank system we effectively get a whole new seige experience – thats 1 thing which was addressed in this last update.

NA servers vary greatly guild to guild. Some guilds live for open field combat, some guilds are there to defend, some guilds butt hug quaggans.

^ that was hilarious. I’d second that about NA gameplay – each guild has thier own methods to play especially in lower tiers where it stops being a zerg fest and requires more original and group based tactics.

With that said – Euros may utilize more team chat than those on the NA server – I know several WvW guilds such as EMP / WM / TSYM / BP which DO use voice chat (WM voice chat is pretty amazing from what I hear) but our militia (non-guild) players don’t always come on TS / Mumble / Vent to listen and talk. I think team chat is integral to better organized offenses and defenses.

How do you get griefed? Is someone using WB to rev before you get there?
A few places with tones of bodies – Metrica in the reactor, Sparkfly Hylik Holy lands, and wayfarers foothills northern areas.

I love days of revive – its very easy to get compared to things like slayer or region slayer.

Well PBA – the main guilds who are in WvW try their best to defend – I havn’t seen many DB cap groups less than the size of 20, you must be on a different time slot than I.

The issue is that our militia who are not organized when following a lesser known commander will often not follow instructions. Take for example 12 hours ago – DB zerg was at around 60 – we had around 70, yet the militia ran when I called for a charge – we ended up getting wiped due to 40 people running away.

We have almost NO euro coverage so if you muster 10 guys to cap the BL then good for you.

It just seems you have a warped sense of manly / cowardly – just play in all the BL for 24/7 and witness all armies / servers and view all chats before you make an inflammatory comment like that. Chat like that belongs in T1 not in T3. We should be friends here in T3 and have fun.

^ in agreance to clumsy – though I don’t run in full zerkers teams – slaver / effigy should take only 30 / 60 or so seconds with the nerfed TW – it can go as fast as 10-15 / 15-45 with full zerker teams.

The teams I run are usually Prot Guard, TW Mesmer, Zerker War, Zerker Thief, random (alot of the time a ranger or ele) so its not just 4xZWar+TWMez. Its still very easy to do with a rainbow team.

I think RisingDusk’s point is that as teams get better/understand thier roles and what to do an all zerker team is simply more efficient – prot / support of traditional teams are a handicap which compensate our non-perfect behaviour.

Hey Luvpie, if you mean in the past 6 hours I don’t usually get to see this time slot. All I know is they were fighting tooth and nail 12 hours ago to hold their garri – and they did.

Kudos to the YB commander from HOT – after 2 golems (and one of them being omega) we just gave up on YB BL garri. Yes my commanding skills were terribad last night – but either way the YB commander gave up 3 or so hours of sleep just to defend his / her borderlands from us.

Caps from DB last night about 12 hours ago were fast and amazing – if I wern’t so mad about the GA randoms who were disrespectful I would say good job on the hold in pang – 3 portal bombs and 5x 50 man zerg pushes later you still held it. But no – I won’t say good job to those holding it. It was a good idea from the GA commander at the time.

Also DB’s ninja cap of yak’s hills was interesting – I was trying to smash into you guys while you were at inner so we could cherry pick – but you folks rushed the lord and cut my zerg in half! Nice play guys.

Things like this make WvW really really fun – I’d rather not have stalemates but interesting tactics and great strategies.

In either case it was in pang around now – I’d say please GA gms control your rowdy players. I understand that sometimes they get excited about pulling a strong hold – but at the same time they don’t need to be doing things like this. I try to apologize when my zergs do bad things.

Super Skins vrs. fused Skins: A compromise.

Well the issue now warpus is any “adding” of fused weapon skins for a set price would “screw” those like you who spent cash money on something RNG. What instead would be nice is if they included a “partial fused weapon claim ticket” with every BLC and it took 100 of them to get 1 regular ticket – but at the same time include RNG to give a regular ticket in lieu of the partial ones. Also – make the partial ones trade eligible – this would drive the TP making it much more attractive to buy more keys and so on.

I only spent 35 keys thus far but I am wanting the fused axe a bit and will sink more money into it. It sucks that we need to gamble like this for ANET to get development money.

Elk – that would be amazing – imagine at the end of this set we all line dance as asurans.

It would be just like the quaggan escort mission with all servers helping to get the quaggans to safety

We should stop making generalizations – All I know is that a few commanders have rivalries. I personally don’t hold any grudges – we all play for the glory of our worlds, when we play badly is when I stop enjoying the game.

Btw – what is needed to get all the servers asurans gather together for a dance sync?

Your server location in EB will changed based on your rank, as will your borderlands. Be aware that there isn’t much shake ups in lower tiers as there are in the higher tiers. The best thing I can mention is capping all the SP / PoI during the night cap.

It’s also worth noting that you don’t have the new WPs released in the past 2 months – 1 each in Straights / Malcor / Cursed shore, 1 in Diessa, and 1 in snowden. You might also be missing the few PoIs added too (at least 2 but maybe more).

Are you trying to get vistas in red and blu’s maps?

Garrison can be hard to take solo – try to organize a time with a commander / guild to night cap it for completion.

In the past my guild mates would transfer server to get the nessesary poi / vistas – this costs money now :/

Hahah – boulders / rocks to throw at enimies. Reminds me of two scenes – the ewoks in the small valley on a log totally owning a bunch of storm troopers, and Army of darkness undead assault where knights were throwing huge rocks and the skeles running away “lets get the kitten out of here”.

But it would be cool to have “stone” piles where we can drop / fling them from the ramparts!

Back on topic – I think launch works but KB may not – try this with rifle butt or stomp – rifle butt shouldn’t toss a defender off the ramparts unless they are already jumping – stomp will work regardless – of course if they have stability neither will have an effect – but stability will not stop the launch effect midair.

In any case there will always be a commander who will do certain things when they cap your towers / keeps / garrison or wipe your zerg. I know of a white haired ele DB commander who is part of NNK or BP does the laugh thing above several of our commanders bodies. In response a few of our commanders do the /disagree haha.

I personally don’t do anything – I’m thinking about the next target or talking on comms for strategic placement.

Also – bravo to EA for the SoS BL bay cap late last set – your zerg was relentless on attack. Even though we had seiged up we couldn’t withstand your 4th wave. I was impressed how well your commander adapted to our fluid defense and made quick decisions on what to do. (sorry this is so late – I am either playing a ton of GW, sleeping, or working – not much time to post like this).

Also – there was a bunker engi with whom I was solo fighting against early this set on Friday by hills in one of the BLs. Kudos to you – after 5 mins of fighting we called a truce and bowed we went our own ways (with each of us doing 3 jumps). You are an honorable man with whom I would share a fireside drink.

I disagree with the idea that temporary content is bad for a game – Sure new players will miss things like last year Mad king and Wintersday, but they have something to look forward to this year. Its like saying we need to make all transitory events permanent – it jut won’t work – and doesn’t illustrate a living game.

For example, if tyria was to have more massive temporary flooding due to the shiverpeaks partially melting and swelling rivers, should it be here to stay? If the shiverpeaks stopped melting then I say no. The only issue comes up is whether or not players have a hand in stopping the melting in the first place (killing the great destroyer once again).

IF players have a hand in stopping an event from happening then I’d say like those above who mentioned a history book – maybe a history of tyria tab incorporated into one’s hero panel allowing players to “experience” certain events through cut-scenes at the very least, or even mini-dungeon / personal storyesque zones for players to explore. The issue is – what types of rewards will they get – limited items such as the karka shell box or the mad king drops from mobs I don’t think should come up – they should be reserved for players who did the events when they happened – maybe some karma / generic end chest or gold?

Seasonal one off events are fun – I don’t expect to be able to ride the wild mongoose roller coaster every day for all time when the state fair only is here for 1 week. Real life events are transitory – more immersion into a game means making things more like real life – one off events should be truely one off, you can relive the history through a history book but if you’ve never experienced it before you CAN’T expect to have the same experience as when it first happened.

Monthly PvP Achievement gives 10 laurels

I wasn’t trolling – This is a bug exploited by people who HAVN’t done their monthly PvP as of the 26th patch were able to get 10 EXTRA laurels from doing it.

People who DID thier monthly PvP before the 26th patch have no way of getting the extra 10 laurels.

People like me who have trouble getting a monthly PvP done in 10 hours have a VERY hard time getting the extra 10 laurels.

I didn’t know about the bug until 12 hours to reset and I had to pull an all nighter to do it.

I don’t think it was fair for players to use this bug for another 10 laurels. I know I was mad when i made the post, but I didn’t see a lot of other options available.

The most recent post I made clarified that the Devs at ANET should do nothing else other than check on the effects of adding additional rewards when rolling out a patch in the middle or end of the month. Please read most current posts.

Skipping in Dungeons

I don’t agree that skipping is the bane of dungeons – simply put – optional content is optional.

We shouldn’t gate people to do EVERY thing in a dungeon just because alot of diehard dungeon explorers want to – it should be group consensus.

The comment about making pieces drop from the boss and trash I’d say ok to if you could still use tokens to buy the pieces in LA. I hate RNG and don’t believe its a good way to consistently give fair drops on small numbers of runs. Actually if trash mobs drop some of the pieces it would be more interesting!

But my opinion aside – EVERYONE is entitled to fun, INCLUDING diehard dungeon explorers, optimize runers, alt-a-holics, casuals, and any mix of the above. I personally like loot but rather optimize time vs reward to get a somewhat maximum return.

I’ve been saying this a few times before:
Change tokens rewarded at the end of the level to be based on amount of events / bosses cleared – baseline minimum effort gives you 20 tokens (without bags) every event done gives you 20 more and all trash mobs gives you an additional 20-40 tokens. Daily DR should reduce 2nd runs to 50% of that and down to 25% on 3-4-5th runs.

This will satisfy ALL groups – Dungeon runners will be happy cause they will get more reward for the time they put in, optimizer runners will figure out which bosses and events are best to do for the reward and get up to 40 tokens but be satisfied with thier time spent, alt-a-holics will get enough tokens to equip all thier alts, casuals will do what they feel like in a bunch of optional content, ect.

Edit- forgot to add that I don’t believe one group should dictate how dungoens are done, rather that each group is awarded for what they WANT to do in a dungeon at the end of the run.

What would be nice is a 10 point laurel deduction with anyone who has earned 93 laurels thus far. The issue is that there are people who used this exploit and spent all the extra laurels thinking that they would get a laurel roll back.

I also know of friends who don’t have many laurels due to not playing several days at a time with family commitments / net issues. The 10 bonus points helped them to catch up.

All in all – even if a laurel roll back was introduced like what we want – it would hurt some players while letting others get away scott-free.

I don’t think that ANET can do anything but add passive laurel sinks.
Either way, I’d like the Devs know at ANET to check something like adding additional bonuses to a monthly before rolling out a path either at the middle or end of the month.

Just confirmed.

If you finished your monthly PvE before the 26th update and then finished your monthly PvP after the 26th you get 20 laurels in total, not 10 as expected.

If you finish your montly PvE after the 26th update then it works as expected.

Just thought I’d document that this bug occurs – after April 1 it will not occur.

I had to post this after trying to get my monthly PvP done in a single night.
Alas I am stuck at tournament wins.

I know this bug will be fixed on the 1st.
However – can we roll back laurels for those who exploited this bug?
I feel this is unfair to me and other who didn’t know about this.

This is an interesting suggestion – but I don’t think we should be implementing stacks on players, instead we should change the mechanics themselves.

For example:
Knock down – If you are in the KD effect another skill which KD has no control effect
Launch – If you are mid air (not KD) another blowout / launch should have no control effect, if you are KD with a launch coming you should be launched
Pull – should occur only while one is not midair / being pushed or pulled
Push (knockback) – If you are in the push / KB animation no CC should affect you, while you are KD the KD rules apply
Stun – stun should not stack, if you get hit with another stun while stunned it should have no effect

The above changes would allow a player to experience CC properly – not be jerked around or chained all the time without proper timing. sPvP would adjust to this and simply chain control based on time / animation instead of spamming it.

What low end machine are you using?

So to answer your question – I play GW2 on my lower end laptop and it works fine on low settings.

But with that AMD Brazos processor with integrated graphics you may not load optimally and particle effects will cause frame lag on your computer. Even if you get the E2 its a 1.7 dual core which is not up to minimum requirements. The integrated GPU should be “ok” but you should get the max ram (4GB) and allocate at least 256MB of it to the dedicated graphics.

If I was getting another laptop to play GW2 on I’d hold out until I had enough money to buy the newer i3 processor ones at the very least.

Question about dungeon mobs

Some advice from me:
1) You can use increased default attack speed to your advantage via retalitation / block next attack with effect skills. Not all attack speeds are equal for mobs – usually the slower the skill animation, the more powerful the attack leading to a counter.

2) Mobs do have alot of HP in explorable mode – the dungeon group’s goal is to make the Mob HP go to zero, not nessesarially to tank them. The game of rising and falling red bars is clear here – if your groups EHP vs mob DPS < mob EHP vs your DPS then you will lose.

3) There are “two” types of support – Passive/defensive and offensive. Passive / defensive support can help prevent damage from being taken, or help when damage is taken, but are not positive effects for the game of the rising and falling bars, they simply give you more time to bring mobs health bars to zero. Passive support is further broken up into “three” categories – Prot / Heal / general. Healing support is something you are very familiar with in the old trinity – something you recognize is not sufficient to dungeon content. Prot is much more effective at managing damage in GW2 as it can stop up to 100% of the damage taken. For example – a team can run invuln, blind, block, control, vigor, and protection to achieve good coverage to really hamper the damage of a mob so that healing is effective once again. Healing (passive or otherwise) is only effective once damage taken is < or = the amount of healing per second. General passive support (including stability and swiftness) are used to counter / deal with certain situations and are helpful at times, but not always helpful during combat. The second type of support (Offensive) generates additional damage for your team which you might not have had before (fury, retaliation, and might) and are positive effects in the game of rising and falling bars.

Cliffside fractal is too kitten annoying

Ok, I just lol’ed there.

But cliffside’s tenuous part is the dual arm seals.
There are a few strats to run on it which work – only 3 of which I have tried, I’ll try to explain it here.

Method 1: Single Side tanking – This can be done at lower level fractals, higher level is extremely hard. Position 1 person on one of the arms to tank the cultists so they cant heal the arm seals. The main team goes back and forth charging the hammer on the opposite side so that they can run faster between the two seals. This strat breaks down if the person tanking gets too much aggro and doesn’t have enough evade / invuln / block / healing. This can be done with mesmers S/F.

Method 2: Kill only 1 target – This can be done at any level fractal, but involves more teamwork / communication. If you don’t kill both cultists on either seal cliffside will NOT spawn more cultists to overwhelm your team. Target the cultist to NOT kill and make sure to charge the hammer on the opposite side. You can use either side to charge, but once you choose do not kill the 2nd cultist on the other side.

Method 3: Quick portal – This can be done at any level fractal, but requires teamwork and a mesmer with portal. Hit the first seal after killing 1 cultist, having the mesmer lay down a portal near the seal then run to the second seal. At the second seal, kill 1 more cultist hitting the seal, drop the hammer for another player to pick up. Have that player kill the 2nd cultist, have the mesmer toss down portal exit and the player with the charged hammer goes through the portal to the first seal and hits it again, then uses the portal to come back to the second seal where they charge the hammer hit the 2nd seal. IF the team does it right the same player will be able to charge for the 3rd and final hit on the first seal before the portal wears off and the entire team should run to the first seal to swap out the hammer bearer.

All 3 above methods rely on destroying 1 side first. Once you are able to do so it is simple to drop the 2nd seal.

Kurt, it really depends on what you are trying to do which makes hitting sentries worth it or not.

Alot of zergs passing by a sentry will kill that sentry (at least in T1 and T2) leading the other teams to know where a zerg is. Where sentry killing is worth it is when you have roamers and special ops teams. Both types can kill the sentries just as fast as an uncommitted zerg with little risk and effort, and forces the other two teams to evaluate their position on the board. Roamers and spec ops don’t care if they get curbstompped by a 30 man zerg as it is resources wasted on the zergs part.

Sentries can be killed as part of an offensive strategy to spread out enemy forces, one sentry killed on a weird path may confuse defending forces especially when its adhoc no strong commander on defense.

I think that sentries should not be killed if the zerg you are running isn’t strong enough to defeat a standing army of the other two teams. In any case when you are doing rushes of any type, killing a sentry can make the rush meaningless if the enemy can determine where you are going. If they can’t kill the sentry.

3/15 DB/YB/SOS

In T1 I rage quit from WvW due to the repetitive and not fun nature of not having an impact and failing to even cap towers.

It seems I can now enjoy playing WvW again in that a garrison is hard, yet not impossible to capture.

This is all thanks to the current matchup with the three tier 3 servers!
Both YB and DB have excellent guilds for which SoS can fight against, with random zergs and ridiculous roamers being a thing of the past.

I thank you all for helping to make WvW fun for us again!

I always try to – but alas none of the servers in T3 are going to agree with my POV. I just like making 4 paragraph posts here in the WvW section and in the dungeon section because I like to see my text.

No – I make huge posts because I want a better game experience for everyone regardless of class, play-style, and server. We need to constructively decide how we solve issues which come up – for the better good of the world wide gamer community.

We are not SoS, YB, or DB. We are all Tier 3 severs who want to have fun. No more throat slashing, name bashing, or dishonorable conduct please.

EDIT: the 3 things above I don’t want to see only belong in T1 where WuvWuv is no LuvLuv. And “Pics or it didnt happen” is not a valid argument, but neither is “OMIGOSH we are 2v1ed all the time”.

Although I agree with your reasoning, we already have facing for weapons and sieges, there is no real need to do 2 hit kills from flanking in WvW.

Cross server alliances are no new thing, and With SoS coming to T3 DB and YB have the beat up new server rights. In any case the 2 v 1 allegations occur in EB or on the BL that the 2 don’t own.

I don’t think that this is a big issue… SoS + JQ + SBI did this in T1 for at least 2-3 sets against each other on the different BL and sometimes on EB (mostly it was just “ignore so’n’so world”).

Another note – SoS should stay in T3 – any win in the next 3 sets will make SoS go to T2 which SoS does not yet belong in (until coverage and participation is increased).

I know a few people from YB warned a few people in the guild I am in to not go into SoS borderlands 2 nights ago due to YB and DB not hitting each other. They confirmed that both server were told to hit only SoS targets.

Two points to bring up which may stop some people from getting mad on all three different servers:
1: Its not against the rules – strategic use of NAPs occur in all RvR games in which serve a definant purpose for the NAP users.
2: Having the other two servers heavy for you helps train / get the new server used to the existing tier’s tactics.

And to answer the question – yes YB and DB should eventually stop the casual “Truce” but SoS cannot force them to stop.

Hey Mystic – You found the same realization I had about support.

I think Rising Dusk summarized it elegantly – Defensive support is a safety net for which players use when they are not the “perfect” player. He and I don’t say that defensive support teams are not good, but just that it is a DPS race to kill high level fractal mobs.

Depending on the nature of the support, it can be sustainable or on 50% CD, but defensive support has almost no ability to make the mobs lifebars go to zero, instead stops your parties lifebars from going to zero.

I equate defensive support to achieving a stalemate in which is good for time based objectives versus no constant waves (same exact amounts of mobs). DPS on the otherhand is great for constant waves and may not be good for time based objectives.

Unfortunately I believe alot of fractals are based on the constant waves and no time based objectives (although there are points such as in dredge where tanking is really really helpful to complete it).

Getting back to the point – As we get higher in fractals we need to optimize groups to provide appropriate levels of defensive support for that safety net and the right amount of DPS. As in GW1, build optimization was important in the creation of Discord/spirit/mesmer way in that the build had alot of targeted damage and was teetering on the edge of chaos and destruction. (For the record I made Balanced builds)

Difficulty level on norm dungeons

I think someone pointed out that designers intended dungeon explorables to be “hard mode” where as story was “normal”. Gimping a dungeon rewards to make a dungeon harder isn’t a step in the right direction. If possible adding more mobs to kill for a greater reward would be a great addition to the dungeons.

OR reward teams based on the amount of mobs and special events cleared in a dungeon exp path – a full clear giving like 100-200 tokens. I understand alot of players don’t like killing trash mobs, but there are some events (like CoF path 1 ooze royals) which can be fun to do yet are challenging – its just that they can be skipped and unless substantial rewards are offered will not be done.

FoTM - Loot Tables Working as Intended ?

I think its an issue where we spend upwards of 1-2 hours in fractals for a measly chance at a lode or two cores with 1 exo and 3 rares mixed in.

When we all first started fractals we were amazed with the loot it got, whether or not it was statistically relevant. As we get larger sample sizes via more runs it evens out. We remember the awesome runs where people got 3-4 exos, precursors, or 4 lodestones. But we forget the countless sub 1 gold runs (even f26-28 the team i go with get on average 60s with a few earning 30s and other earning 2g). Chances are as we get less and less loot we do less and less runs, leading to lackluster drops.

I agree with others sentiments that F26+ is not worth doing unless you want rings / fractal skins.

Not getting Event Mentor Credit

It depends – the event level as listed in your upper right panel should say (42), if it says (43) and you are still down scaled it won’t count.

But since ANET introduced alot of these different dailies, I wouldn’t be surprised if its based on 1: your sidekicked level 2: the level of the event and 3: if you are sidekicked when accepting the event.

Any of the above 3 could be grounds for the daily achievement – to be safe do a world event like Maw or Fire ele.

In the mean time we should probably research this and post results on wiki…

Tequatl Breath - Fear

I think you got hit by the same cone attack again.

Check the effect countdown for fear – when Teq uses his scare breath it will refresh the effect to the 5 second limit for at the very most 3 second duration of the breath attack.

I think Jormag’s breath attack is broken in that once you stun break during the attack there are “pockets” where the attack doesn’t affect you.

It would stand for reason that Teq’s fear breath attack works due to no terrain issues (you fight Teq on flat ground). Although I agree its frustrating to have either 8 seconds of fear or completely waste a single use of stun break.

It would be cool if stunbreakers made you immune to non-condition CC effects as well as the 1-2 second stun immunity you get after activating a stunbreaker.

Also mate, the dungeon can be done again in the same day for 60 tokens. Dungeon DR applies for a character who has done the path in the same daily cycle only. However ANET also has a 2 hour account based Dungeon DR after which if you take a different character for the same path you will receive 60 tokens.

I am an alt-a-holic and have 5 fully leveled characters, 3 of which are dungeon worthy.
I used to do AC 1-2-3 before the rehaul on two or so of them earning around 400 tokens a day (then I realized it wasn’t really alot of fun).

This is a very interesting point – Running 3 guardians in fractals is indeed rough at grawl shamen vets.

The idea that a “perfect” team doesn’t actually need defensive support is something I’ve never considered – I just thought alot of hits were supposed to happen and that you can’t mitigate most of them. It might have to do with having higher ping and running fractals with mates who frequently rubberband and lag like heck – which is why the guys I play with may not be doing alot of dodging as other groups(I also have the horrible wrong direction dodge from time to time).

I’m just surprised that it took me this long to realize we should be teetering on the edge of chaos to push the bounds of adjusting to having less and less support (until you get a minimum amount of it).

Do Fractals change at higher levels?

Well with the above I can understand how people don’t wipe.

Because of time constraints the team I run with use melee weapons for a majority of the fight and don’t normally kite – due to this we clear mobs much faster but have major issues when multiple people do down. On asca when I run my mesmer its noticeably smoother since I pull aggro and go invuln right before rush or their whirling blade – I can see that as a way to absorb damage.

The other thing we don’t yet do is alt swapping – I’ll from time to time swap from my warrior to my guard and to my mesmer, but most of the time the other players dont swap out. In fact a few friends I have done fractals in scoff at me swapping out at times and claim we shouldn’t need to do so.

We do have alot of Aegis / Reflects but we don’t normally do alot of dodge (I think its just that my teammates do not want to waste time and get out of melee range).

So 26+ you’d say stop using melee and focus on ranged? Is it prudent to rebuild our 2G face tanking build which works well in dungeons just for this reason? Or should we simply just add in ranged more? How do you achieve enough healing with kiting? How long are most mobs supposed to take to kill and how long is one supposed to last without robust healing (thinking of my mesmer here)?

Guys, stop complaining, start suggesting. Posting here to rage about meta is very ineffective and a waste of everyones time.

WE as gamers should be coming up with some solutions as to solve issues we see in game-play.

So again since no one likes to read my long text – I will summarize.

Dungeon awards should take in effect events and trash mobs killed and reward more tokens for doing them.

Tanking anything on terrain not reachable by bosses or mobs should make the mobs camp at thier current spot invuln and regened until aggroed by a player who can be reached.
