That could be an issue, but at the same time it depends if a person is ok with it.

You could be on either side of the fence, I for one think that the issue of “buying” guilds is still situational and needs to be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Certainly if you think any buying is bad then if SoR bought their guilds it would be bad form in your eyes.

I just say the opponent is out there and waiting – regardless of how they got there – and how they are doing comparative to you – the objective is to have fun.

I think its just automatic response at times to justify that you are better than another group of people.

I personally think there are alot of times I can and want to do better – but alot of times I don’t know how to do better.

Somebody is misusing LFG – I have had a few “I am leaving the game i give my gold to you” Very annoying. If an SoS is doing this please stop.

But to a more positive note – me only complaining means we propagate more drama – the matchups were interesting.

Kudos to the SoR guilds – your zergs were well organized and we could often never put a dent in them. Your coverage of the field was absolute and we noticed that you didn’t leave a yak alone. Heck I wiped with my group a few times to a yak attending SoR group. Simply put the only way we could get kills was picking off reinforcements for the big battles between you and TC.

And TC – it seems this matchup has given you the added vitality you need to have to break into T1 – with us just silently capping things whilst you dealt with SoR you still were able to respond and wiped us several times while we tried to take a tower.

Both of you are great WvW servers, and this comes from the bottom of my heart, remove your deeply shoved blade from my chest

To sum up- you guys are skilled and more organized, we have to use 30 guys to wipe 5 guys. This isn’t something to be complaining about.

Also I have been commanding for the past 3-4 months – I know our general make up and know how many we have on the alliance TS – and I know unless I type in chat people won’t do what is needed – and even then they don’t always do what is needed to be done.

Just be satisfied I am calling you a pro, now stop complain-gloating and I will go back to my corner and cry myself to sleep.

I personally think the issue is not making gold, but obtaining T6 raw and fine materials.

Fractals are a poor way to make income, but besides CoF theres only SE / HotW / CoE speed runs to make gold.

Gold should never be the go to currency to buy player derived goods, however its quickly becoming such a required element since everybody uses gold.

+1 to the guild commander tag – it helps in countless guild events including guild missions. The guild commander tag should be a different color, like orange. Instead of purchasing it the guild should have a tick box in the permission to “let” the rank of people to use guild commander tags – it would also allow for a custom group of non-officer members to have the commander tags in a special rank group.

Back to the normal commander Doritos – that’s OK as is.

But in WvW there should be an additional gating factor to turn on your tag by using guild influence or something like that. A combination of guild influence and special commander experience points could be the basis for having a commander be active in WvW.

In support of this idea I suggest that you can activate your commander tag in WvW so long as the guild builds and has the “show commander” upgrade for you to activate in WvW which gives you a 6 hour buff. This buff allows your dorito to be seen on the map and also allows you to earn “commander victory points”. In the WvW menu you can use commander victory points to extend the buff or even buy it if it wears off. You win “commander victory points” when you succeed at an event or kill a certain number of players. The points can also be used to que upgrades on towers and keeps instead of using silver or karma, and can also be used to purchase claim buffs for your guild in the WvW menu.

This would help cut down on commanders who are ineffective and at the same time make it sustainable and helpful for commanders who spend a long time in WvW.

Unable to heal when hit by agony "sometimes"

Anywho – not stated in the agony tool-tip is that it reduces your healing by 33% much like poison does. If you have a low compassion your heal skill may only heal for 1k or less hp. Agony by minimum does 1% of your HP, and can do over 1000% of your hp at higher levels.

I think the kill credit is odd – I was stuck on trident for at least 100 kits before it awarded me with the 500 for the next achievement level. In any case check to make sure you a) wield the weapon when you kill the mob b) do not use condi damage or trait / utility / pet / f1-f4 skills to kill the mob c) make sure you are the only one damaging the mob and d) check your damage log to see what was the killing hit.

yeah well.

We’ve been saying that since the Halloween update.

In any result RNG drives the sale of gems for crates – this means ANET makes money.
The unfortunate part is when people like you or I who want a skin has to gamble to get one (since they cannot be traded). With my horribad luck I was still able to snag 2 tickets from 60 crates, where as my buddy got 1 from 60 for around 1/40 drop rate. But it also goes to show that even a large RNG chance (fractal rings 10+) can still result in a poor outcome – with fractal rings at a 20% chance it took me 26 daily runs before I got a single ring. Also back on the RNG – my 1 molten weapon cost me 150 keys (I still think I got my value from it cause of all the BLSK I recieved). But compare it to a few others I know who poured in 200 keys for a molten and didn’t get a ticket… some people will NEVER get a ticket, while others will get a ticket eventually.

So in any case having a redeemable ticket which ticks with tries would be a nice idea. Make it so the amount of tickets needed would be slightly higher than the RNG chance – say 60 or so, and it would be obtainable by everyone!

Considering last night SoS let TC hit on FA’s SM whilst we were taking T3 towers in FA’s land deserves the 2v1 we faced this morning. Sides they wanted to reset our towers – it gives us a chance to teach our newer WvWers to upgrade our towers!

Anywho – shoutout to the awesome zerg fights last night – we didn’t 1v2 any fights where as we all tried to wipe each other. And Boy did we get wiped haha.

It however sucks that we still do /dance or /laugh on corpses :/
We will try to identify the offenders on our server whilst you can do that on your server ;3

I’ve done the same with my bank tabs.

But in any case the gem <→ gold market is not an entirely free one – when you sell gems you sell at a predetermined price based on the volume of the market – you can’t go lower to sell your gems quicker, nor go higher to force people to give you more gold for your money.

If the gem <→ gold market was completely player controlled we would see true buy and sell orders and an inventory of gems.

You have a good point there – but why would people exploit the gem store by intentionally shafting the prices of commodities on the TP?!

Besides the minimum gem price for the chest would be around 80 gems if that actually happened. I just don’t see people exploiting a multi-hundred gold portion of the TP to lower the price of gem market items by up to 30% while taking a massive 50-90% hit on TP good price just so others can benefit from it. People are too greedy, thus they will never take such a loss unless the tickets projected prices match their loss.

This however is an interesting assertion that a variable gem store price which creates items which can be sold on the TP will make prices lower. Maybe this is something I am willing to accept. Can’t wait until unid dye is 50c

I don’t agree with either sentiment – I’ll go with something more radical here using some quick and dirty math.

Lets look at the reward chances (this may not be entirely accurate): weapon tickets are around 1/50, minis are around 1/25, and the old lost shores skins are around 1/8.

Now lets look at prices of items at release (using GW2spidey): Kasmeer was 40g and Faren was 10g (average around 25 gold), the old lost shores skins were around 80s, materials were around 30s, and a predetermined amount of wealth was represented by the tickets.

Going by the numbers – for each of the average 120 gem crates (purchasing economically 10 at a time) you receive: 30s (mats) + 1g (mini) + 10s (old skins) + weapon ticket chance. With gems going for around 2.5g per 100 gems (3g for 120 gems), the weapon ticket is tentatively priced at 1.6g for a 1/50 chance for a total value of 80g or 3200 gems. 3200 gems is NOT a bad price to pay for a desirable skin imho once a quarter.

Now lets assume the value of the weapon tickets remain the same (since their value can’t change with market demand).

Looking at prices of items NOW: with minis going for as low as 25g and 5g (avg 15g), materials going for 20s, and old weapon skins going for 40s. Without the ticket value we end up with 85s worth of items, nearly 50% of the value we got at release.

This is the issue we are facing – in order for the crates to be considered “worth it” by the player base the weapon tickets would need to cover the lost 75s per try and now be priced at 107g. Since the chance to get a weapon ticket remains fixed ultimately the player is short changed 75s for the gems they used to buy the chests.

Now what I see from this is that ANET was not unethical for originally making the crates – they probably priced everything out at release and the value was there. Heck they keep an economist on staff to make sure we get equal reward on gems to gold vs drops from gem derived chests to make sure we still convert gems to gold.

What I see as unethical is the static pricing for the crates when value of their variable items drop in value. The main issue is that when more people play the value to reward will get even lower – but ANET hasn’t done anything about it. If possible I’d advocate for scaling gem prices based on actual TP price for the goods.

WvW siege capping as of todays patch

Hey guys and gals.

Was siege capping changed to be map wide?
In T4 EB people aren’t able to deploy siege anymore.
It was speculated that another server had over 100 siege placed in their keep but were not adding more siege.

Also this may not be the siege debuff – the siege simply cannot be placed giving a message “this cannot be placed here”.

Any one else with this issue on their tier?

Personally I don’t think drop rates have changed that much.
I however have seen more mists materials drop more often than “normal” with me getting at least 4 shards in the past 8 or so runs.

I think Treeline meant that after you get a soulbound rune on a random character via any means you CAN’T do “much” with it.

Pyroatheist is correct with the blue or white idea – I have over 6 baelfire runes stored in such a manner. The trick is that you have to get the blue or white as a random drop from the world – as the merchant or karma ones are NOT salvageable any more. I usually search for a lvl 76 headpiece which is of the white quality.

Note that this is NOT a fix but a work around which also allows normally unobtainable items (see assasin shroud / non order weapons) to be utilized off order or off class. Once ANET fixes the white / blue application / transmutation making things account bound not soul bound this work around will not work any longer.

With DB out of T3 and into T2 YB will do alot better.
Unless there is a major shift in guilds for T4-T3 nobody will really go up or down.

We really like the ferocity of small group battles both CD and SBI brings and we hope that all the servers can recover from their respective server dramas.

Problematic Side-Effects of the Repair Daily

Well I think it depends on the situation – having the ability to suddenly use your 1k+ supply in a keep or SM to repair an outter wall while you wipe the attacking zerg at inner is a huge plus.

I agree with other posters tho – the repair daily is not a great daily achievement. I believe it should be “Daily WvW Events” where you yak slap, escort, sentry flip, camp flip or zerg it up to cap/defend towers / keeps, also getting rid of the yak slap specific daily.

Personally more options to use the supply is better for defense as it lets commanders decide which strategy to use instead of forcing a defending commander to move to a camp to resupply. At the same time, the commander should be able to know when to use supply to stall / trap, and when to use it to build siege only.

But that aside, I don’t think Kain is that bad off – We won’t know until they get here, but with any luck YB will start improving again and Maguuma will give DB a run for thier money.

The fights between CD and SBI are a treat most nights, with both sides using brilliant tactics each fight instead of zerging up, I wiped several times on a smaller more nimble fighting force (here’s looking at you EA).
This is how I feel WvW was really meant to be played.

63-69 relics per run, 2 runs an hour 26.7 hours, not bad.

To put that in perspective, for just armor its just over 9 hours.

CoE is just as slow as arah path 3 with all paths taking 1.5 hours for a 189 – 198 token run. And Yes I did do 7 runs of CoE in 1 day on several alts (that was just tiring and painful).

I don’t think that the 30 mins per 63-69 tokens is unreasonable.

BTW – shelter was stealth nerfed a while back – you only get 1 block and it goes away.

But yeah – retaliation is not always useful in dungeons in a spread out approach. When doing face tanking with guardian symbol support, engi bomb support, or warrior 100b fun it can be useful. Stack allows mobs to hit more with a single attack (if they have a multi target attack) and when you stack+retaliation vs elementalists it can hurt them badly (not to mention sometimes wipe you).

At least I didn’t get a rollback on the maint.

I got a rollback when I got the disconnected on guild bank interaction 5 hours before the maint – very frustrating as I got my character all the way to do Claw of Jormag – I was originally at FE and went to LA to unload things to the guild bank. Not only was I rolled back but I also lost the ability to log into GW2 for 5 mins (but could still log into GW1).

Mobs in snowblind wood: worth killing?

Mobs in snowblind ARE worth killing, at least for now. They do drop T5 and T6 as well as rares. What people are reacting to is the previous drop stealth nerf which happened around January 26th patch. Prior to that patch the woods mobs would drop Cores and Lodes. The loot tables were adjusted after that and people were not getting so much as a green from them. Recently – in the past 1-2 months – the drop tables were upgraded – they now have T5s and T6s. While only 2-3 people in the group will get a T6 from the mobs, I do it to help out those who are with me. but from a sheer money standpoint – that’s only 75s in drops for about 5 mins of work or an average of 3 silver per player per minute. That is 1.8 gold an hour – better than some fractal runs, but not as good as dungeons.

When doing late night HotW runs I used to nodd off for minutes at a time whilst spamming the 1 key.

But back on topic, yes reflect is sometimes broken. I’m perfectly OK with absorb working as intended, but when reflect does nothing to a ranged attack I’m rather peeved.

+1 for Rising dusk’s nerf idea.

Adding in my own opinion re-modifying from previous posts:

Efficiency is getting the objective done with a combination of the least resources / time / effort.
Completion is getting everything done in the instance you are in.

Where as optimizers / skippers go for time based runs, they are not truly efficient.
Where as dungeon explorers like to kill everything, they are not truly efficient.
Where as alt-a-holics go for multiple runs, they are not truly efficient.

Efficiency is min maxing damage dealing / absorption on skills, speed killing / completing objectives, spending less button clicks to finish an objective, doing the minimum amount of events to get by. Efficiency is also about not dying, no armor repair, everyone being at near max health.

But that aside to a very easy solution to the skipping problem.

I’ve been saying this a few times before:
Change tokens rewarded at the end of the level to be based on amount of events / bosses cleared – baseline minimum effort gives you 20 tokens (without bags) every event done gives you 20 more and all trash mobs gives you an additional 20-40 tokens. Daily DR should reduce 2nd runs to 50% of that and down to 25% on 3-4-5th runs.
This will satisfy ALL groups – Dungeon runners will be happy cause they will get more reward for the time they put in, optimizer runners will figure out which bosses and events are best to do for the reward and get up to 40 tokens but be satisfied with thier time spent, alt-a-holics will get enough tokens to equip all thier alts, casuals will do what they feel like in a bunch of optional content, ect.

mouse losing ability to interact with world

This happens to me too – I just thought it was hardware (my mouse just died last week). I would be using my right click a lot to be looking for something, and then my left click wouldn’t let me select a target. I’ve found that you can completely quit the game and restart the application to make it work. I also now use a wireless mouse.

this is how I view it. Imagine your reading the harry potter series when it comes out. You read the first three books right when each comes out. You end up not reading 4-6 right when they come out. You return to wanting to continue the series when the 7th book comes out, but they took books 1-6 off the shelves. Now the only way to know whats going on is to ask someone who’s read it or read an online summary. Does this make any sense to you? I already live in reality, I play video games to escape that not to enter a new one with similar pressures.

I think viewing a game as a book to read isn’t the right analogy. Instead view the living story initiative as more like a real life community – temporary events such as world fairs / natural disasters you CAN’T go back to really experience. The beauty of a game is that we CAN have a history book to “virtually relive” the experience – but this hasn’t yet been added to the game.

The issue is that even if legendary weapons aren’t transmuted now for the stats you want, in the future when they are upgraded you will still need to transmute the ascended weapon stats into the legendary anyways. Its just a matter of spending the trans-stone now rather than later and benefiting from having a cool skin with the right stats.

There is a chance that the same thing will occur as with ascended rings, not all stat combinations will be available to get right away. With that chance I gladly transmuted my Howler to get it the right stats in hopes that it may be ascended and have the right stats then.

In either case – its your choice:
Transmuting now MAY cost you 2 trans stones and maybe the additional effort to getting an ascended weapon, but you have a chance that you may not have to get the new weapon (due to the “grandfathering” speculation).
Transmuting later WILL cost you 1 trans stones AND cost you the effort of getting an additional ascended weapon.

Because I’m too lazy to go over to the other topic.

I think a 4th tier upgrade material should be added to fractals F30+ like a Gem of refined fractal mists. Using 1-3 of them, a particular Infused Ascended ring, gift of ascenson, and 50 ectos in mystic forge could get you a skin. This would mean people would need to run F30s more often to get a Gem – since the Gem is based on RNG – it would still be scarce, also basing it on ascended rings gives us the ability to suck up excess unwanted rings and pristine relics.

I think the issue lies in the available materials + money in the market where as swiftpaw sees ANY increase in worth by overall market value (materials + money) as bad. Currently supply of materials hasn’t dramatically changed (save for ectos) but from what we all see money is alot more available via dungeon runs. Swift and Pet’s commentary is that we can’t just balance one side while adding supply to the other.

Another issue is if we can avoid money / material sinks (a passive way to reduce market value) and instead address the issue directly. Simply put reducing the cash available will hurt buying power and deflate money itself, but that ISN’T enough. We need to make sure that by reducing the prevalence of money in the economy will indeed lower prices and deflate material cost. Sure people are less willing to buy at a certain price – but are sellers willing to sell at a lower price or can they continue to buy out supply and sit on what they have? Adding a rare at the end wouldn’t solve much – it could increase supply of materials but it is dangerous in that speculators would halt the deflation effect.

I think the issue lies in

1) the amount of money the average buyer has and is willing to spend per unit

2) the amount of market which is controlled by power buyers / sellers who have 0 consequence for cornering a market and simply sitting on their investment for extended periods of time.

So yes – changing the amount of money which is rewarded on dungeons would help for point 1 but not for point 2. To solve point 2 we can flood the market with materials and try to revamp the way the market works.

We need to revamp how power sellers / buyers can manipulate the market. I originally thought some kind of profit tax would be helpful – but that drives supply from TP – the goal here is to push more inventory onto the market while passively punishing those who aren’t tossing their stuffs on the market. I’d advocate that there should be a limited inflation price where you CAN’T put something on the market for more than 10% of the lowest listing for the past 24 hours – this way prices can go up IF demand makes it go up, not if speculators suddenly buy all the low sell orders and reprice high. I’d also advocating restricting the buy orders to 80% or even 50% of the lowest price for 24 hours to encourage more supply to sit on the market.

I personally think that if we do both, inflation would go away and things will be priced appropriately. Sure inflation would gradually creep but speculators would no longer have the ability to radically effect the market / abuse a no consequence system.

Rising always has great points. Another guildie pointed this out to me as well.
The issue is that the supply isn’t going down – certain people can control the market and since alot of people have money they are willing to pay more.

But back to the point – I do miss farming for materials for stuffs – instead now we farm for gold via dungeon runs to buy materials. I miss AC 1-2-3 runs in 45 mins for tokens.
