What Anet might be working on is another trader / npc who also downgrades your pet seedling into a pet seed / mists infused pot. I think the fix for that might take a bit more effort, so be a bit patient.

Heart of the Destroyer Bugged?

OK so, anyone who has this issue should go and try to retrieve the heart of the destroyer on a character who has finished the living story. I tried multiple times on alts who did not finish it. On my warrior who just finished it this morning I was able to interact to get it.

Edit: the above may be incorrect. People have said now as long as you have the seedling you can progress, prior to that you also had to have the back piece.

Missing Item from LW S2 "Taimi and the Asura"

Just to clarify, you can fill up the vial in the puddle bellow the skill point, you don’t need to actually use the place of power to fill it up.

I had the same bug, I had to talk to the geode merchant (actually a woman) at the centaur camp Restoration Refuge in order to get the vial.

My cultivated seed was in my bank, but after I logged in after the patch it turned into a pet seed.

I then proceeded to just complete the living story thinking this was intended and eventually made a mists infused pot and planted it into the pot thinking it was the “right way” to go. I now have a Pet Seedling.

I also have the attuned grow lamp and the Resonating chaos orb, with the package of ley line infused dust food. Lastly I have the heat stone.

Edit: forgot to add that I have 7 other mysterious seeds in my storage as well as 7+ units of each of the past food / pot modifying items (Residue, stones, glacial water)

Did you activate 3 headed wurm or participate as part of a guild boss upgrade?

Is your guild the same server as your account?
Did your guild complete the guild missions using their guild mission upgrades, not piggy backing with a guild from a different server?

Did you guest while doing any of the activities for either daily / guild missions when the guild held guild missions on your server?

Do not be confused with server meaning mega server. I mean the server you sign in on or can guest to. Mega servers still have a few bugs with guild missions being rewarded for guild completion.

Phantasmal Residue not upgrading

For anyone who is trying to get their phantasmal residue to upgrade with the skill point – if you get a notice to fuse quartz crystals, simply send the quartz on your character to the vault and try again.

If you have any amount of quartz it will only give you the fuse quartz option.

For me – it averages about 2 full tickets (converted from scraps) per 25 chests opened. This isn’t a lot, but also remember that you should be buying the skins you like when they are introduced for 1 ticket each.

I estimate that in order to recoup your cost to obtain the tickets, via back conversion through gems, you’d need to sell skins for at least 50 gold per ticket cost.

Hey, back after taking a break.

Been playing in EotM, when siegerazer comes up and asks for money, once you accidentally click on “give x money”, is there any way to take back this action?

On the server I was playing on the event failed and I at least got back 44 copper, but was wondering if it was a bug that siegerazer doesnt give you a “are you sure you want to give me this much money” dialog that other vendors have.

Game constantly crash, extreme lag

Skill lag / skills not activating can be caused by server lag (or network instability).

With all of my friends, international and domestic, reporting having this issue over a wide variety of maps and in certain areas of the game I personally think its server lag.

Speculation with my tin foil hat says that ANET redirected some of their world, PvP, and WvW servers to accommodate edge of the mists in their last maintenance period. Further speculation is that ANET will not be adding new servers for edge of the mists until it is prove as a success – they would have to allocate servers from somewhere.

Anywho, just speculation.

I hate carrots, my desire to WvW is gone

This is the issue I face too elkirin – I feel that sometimes our different play styles conflict with one another, and we can’t all have fun at the same time.

While I agree that some of the achievements are really silly (doing each of the JPs, spending 250 badges, defense restorer) I feel that there needs to be some kind of easy slope into the harder ones to get (SM / Keep capping, merc camps). While we have so many newer players, season achievements lead us to question if the newer players are beneficial to the WvW effort.

To counter the carrot claim – the carrot exists for other players who may start playing WvW due to it, it doesn’t exist solely for WvW veterans. Also to counter the carrot claim – for once rewards can be gained in WvW exclusively so that hours in a BL to slowly recap and control is rewarded. And my last counter for the carrot claim – new players introduce more population which allows servers to start performing a bit better – this also allows for interesting new macro strategy with small team and havoc-zerg tactics.

To support the carrot claim I’ll simply use the clashing play styles examples I have given in the past:
Player A plays for PPT (points per tick), and captures active resources for which PPT is generated, but doesn’t necessarily think about the overall PPT spread, coverage, or strategic PPT capture necessary to win.
Player B plays to win and does PPT spread, coverage games, and strategic PPT capture in order to do so.
Player C plays to get fights and win those said fights.
Player D plays for achievements in WvW.
Player E who goes for the karma train.
When the condition is right, all 4 groups can be clashing, Player A wants to cap a t3 hills when Player B knows it will be better to cap 3 paper towers, with Player C wanting all the map’s manpower on him/her to wipe another zerg first, and player D who is wanting to catapult a t3 bay gate, using all the supply to do so from both north and NW camps, and Player E who just wants to cap stuff quickly without defending Garrison.

Before you call me biased for placing myself in Player B category, I’m not of that category, I’m a Player A kind of person. Player B makes a great winning commander, but may not satisfy players A C D or E. The issue is that player D was just added and there is so much more room for conflict between the 5 parties than there was for the 4 parties.

All play styles have their positive attributes – A will get temporary PPT which helps to raise morale in large militia groups, B will win the game in largely balanced games and helps to close gaps / make sure manpower is spent wisely, C allows large groups of people to capture objectives which would take too long for small teams to do also allowing for demoralization of forces they wipe, D provides additional manpower to the map, E is a momentum style capping which keeps things dynamic allowing for active play.

But for me. Achievements are doing what they are supposed to be doing – bring players in. Its the commanders who are in categories A-B-C-E who need to utilize the new players in category D.

Last Spot in Gold League

We figured that only a handful of guilds at most were involved and that the majority did not support this move. Any remarks sent at SBI should be construed to mean “those on SBI who supported this move”

I hope you understand this goes for SoR as well. There are many of us who are appalled by (and, until a couple of hours ago, completely unaware of) this supposed arrangement between a few guilds, and we will never play along with such unsportsmanlike behaviour.

Fair enough, Since it is usually started by a few guilds.

The only issue is when its brought up at a commanders meeting.

Thank you the other ~20% of SoR who don’t want to follow such a thing and are hitting both of us (SoS and SBI) equally.

But anyways, the last spot in gold league race will be exciting, I don’t know who will be in that spot, heck maybe SoS will.

That’s just the nature of T1. Your servers are too stacked. No one wants to play against them. All of T1 is going to have constant kitten match ups because the servers are overstacked and #5 & 6 won’t show up at all. Well, Mag might. I dunno. They’re scrappy.

SoS didn’t show up last time it was TC/SoS/SoR, either. I literally didn’t see a single SoS until Friday. Didn’t even see one on reset, although we were on TCBL, I think.

You do realize we dont have enough manpower to fill more than 1.5 maps even during our prime time.

but back to the issue at hand…

Its actually not an SBI guild who wants to move over to SoR, its a magumma guild who does. If magumma goes to silver league that one guild will want to play in gold league and SoR may pay for their way to transfer.

Get facts straight, don’t accuse SBI of doing this to give them some sort of advantage.

I have to disagree. The reason why our community on SOR is so strong is because anyone can join our ts and we encourage people too. So I’m sure trying to ask Militia to join is still worth it. As we have a lot of talented non guild-ed players who fight with our major guilds. Guilds leaving on the other hand, has more to do with keeping their own communities alive. As someone who is ex AFS I can say we left to ignore burnout as one sea guild against the countless others was too difficult. So back then we left to fight in Tier 1 where we had plenty of allies and guilds to fight. In general I’m not too pleased with all the discredit to anyone who left SOS. However the same applies to anyone who is trying to belittle SOS. Just stop with it, its all in the past. Anyone who left is happy where they are. And everyone on SOS has done a fantastic job. So please ignore the trolls and respect everyone, old allies and new enemies. that being said I’m 100 % sure Kuora isn’t on SOR. All he does is troll and write comments for attention. This is actually the same with Stealth too. So please don’t take anything theses guys say to be anymore then one their own opinion.

Anyways its good to see SOS again and great to see you still leading Vox. You probably have no idea who I am, but I got AFS to support you when you started leading all thoses months ago. Also great to see FANG still going always loved to follow you guys in NA. By the way, is Fate still around haven’t seen or heard about Irenical in awhile.

Also Thanks to both SBI and SOS for the fights I keep hearing about ( currently on dial up speed so I can’t do anything). But my newer commanders are having a lot of fun and learning. I hope the fights have been fun for you guys too.

Anyways thought I would write my one post for awhile. But yea ignore the trolls, keep the fights coming. And overall lets just enjoy the Game.

Ah yes, I forgot the issue of burn out… Thats something I forgot to address. Where as AFS was supporting SoS during sea time, that time slot was thankless (around the time when DB’s sea was intense and NNK fielded nearly 1.5 maps). Guilds do burn out when faced with the same old challenges, whether it be an uphill battle or having no challenge during their time slot. Thanks for adding to the conversation mate.

In any issue I’m not bashing your decision to leave, nor did I get mad when you folks were leaving all those months ago (As you remember I came to you to talk with you after that huge break up meeting). I’m just trying to understand / share my thoughts on why guilds leave servers. I’m happy friends are having fun in T1, Heck I advocated many of them to go to T1 due to their playstyle. But in response to keeping the community alive – we are trying, and its hard to do so when there are mutually exclusive playstyles – the fallout from it results in the community splitting and certain people going elsewhere. Asking militia to join TS is helpful, but when the majority of militia won’t do it, you can either be a) ok with it b) more encouraging to someday have them come over to TS or c) leave. I am of the b) category, but I know a recent group of Team Shatter (FRAG) moved to SoR under the pretense of c). I was sad to see them go, and I enjoyed rolling with them, but at the same time I will say that they are not bad for leaving, and SoS is not bad because they left.

Season 1 schedule?

For Gold league the number of unique match-ups are 10, with each server facing another specific server 40% of the league period.

For Silver and Bronze league the number of unique match-ups are 28, with each server facing another specific server 25% of the league period.

So for a 7 week match, if you are in gold league you should expect to face off against the same server for at least 2-3 matches.

For a 7 week match if you are in silver or bronze league you should expect to face off against the same server for at least 1-2 match(es).

Chances are that you may not have the exact same match-up during the 7 week period,

There’s obviously a little more to it than just sieging a lord’s room, in most defenses you are undermanned as almost no one ever assaults you with equal or inferior numbers. The real math of a solid defense is done with the individual defenders and the coordination of their commanders. If you have 30 uplevels defending against 50, you’re going to lose, if you have 30 well geared/specced seasoned WVWers in voice comm with their experienced and knowledgeable commander, your odds significantly improve. After awhile of being on a server it becomes clear which kind of WvWers are most prominent, this is why guilds move to different servers most of the time.

This is unfortunate – but we can’t force the militia to get on voice chat, and we can’t force them to follow our orders. At the same time its like you are saying these militia are bad at WvW, and that the “good” players are leaving. I disagree with your statement in principle, but in reality it is reasonable to say that a 30 group without coordination is going to lose vs the 50 group a good chunk of the time. The issue was that if ANET believed communication was critical to WvW they might have done a better job of giving access to communication tools – such as persistant map drawings or not text blocking or even providing some form of voice chat.

But back to why guilds leave servers – a guild leaves a server because of incompatible or mutually exclusive methods to carry out winning the game. If a guild is ok with not requiring everyone on voice chat then they will likely not leave a massive militia server like SoS. If a guild demands that everyone get on voice chat and militia will refuse to (there ARE valid reasons why completely based on lifestyle and playstyle) that guild will suffer feelings of mis-utilization.

And back to another issue – a guild does not prove they are “better” by being in a “better” ranked server. Their skill is still the same (subject to personal growth) regardless of the server they are on. Its just that their playstyle changes a bit to accommodate resources the “better” server provides for them.

We spawncamp because your server is bad, and we go away when we get bored of your badness, not because 1 scrub from our server died. If you really think aldons will decide this matchup in your favour you should go back to t5. oh wait

You do realize that your commanders during Oceanic time are not spawn camping SoR or SBI due to the fact that they want some karma trains in. So saying you are spawn camping is technically incorrect.

And you do realize one match-up is not a definition of the quality of a single server. Its like telling a random on the street first to make a goal while playing ice hockey is suddenly better than the other. To imply one is bad or good, one needs to measure all aspects of each side in a quantifiable way and compare it to one another.

In another note, it was nice to talk to some ex-SoS people who are having a mighty fun time in T1. We are thankful for you not spawn camping us and letting us take back stuff (albeit in a way you approve, therefore us ultimately still being your slaves :/). If its possible I’d like to ask for you all to come back, but I know that you won’t want to do that since we don’t have the communication you have in T1.

Pink Day in La 2013

Hello everyone,

Some of you may know me as a PvE world event commander, while others will call me an achievement seeking forum warrior, and yet more call me the reckless pug commander. But today, I approach everyone as a single player who is here to fight once more in the color pink.

Breast Cancer is serious business. While there is one month dedicated to awareness, raising money, and a fight to find a cure (or a fight against cancer as you can call it) – many people with Breast Cancer DON’T have the luxury to just ignore it after the month of october passes. We as gamers need to realize that we CAN make a difference – that by donating monies we CAN fight year round, instead of just showing our colors during this one month.

Whether you are whining about a 2v1 or numbers vs skill in WvW, PvT wars in dungeon speedclears, no communication in high level fractals, a random agroing all the mobs on you in general PvE, or DNT wars or AI masters in PvP I want you to know that you need to help now.

“I’m not rich and my $5 – $10 isn’t going to help”.

You have the $5 bill in your hand as you pay for a coffee, You have a tenner ready to cover the cost of lunch. If only one person donated $5, sure it wouldn’t help, but its NOT JUST YOU. And this was never about you. It was about US (we as a gaming community) and the bulk donations we can do RIGHT NOW. Maybe you didn’t want to help cure Breast Cancer before, and I can’t blame you if you just want to leave this web page uncomfortable or defiant. But maybe, just maybe, you’ll help this cause.

Under this initiative Sea of Sorrows Server has raised over $1,000 for this cause, a server I call home. This server has over a thousand players and thats ONLY a single dollar per player to raise such an amount. I understand if you are not made of money, or are yourself living from paycheck to paycheck, but your server by far is the biggest resource which can give.

9/27 - JQ / FA / SoS

They aren’t in T2, and all the T1 servers have been offering gold to cover TRANSFER costs.

This matchup should be interesting because JQ is particularly strong in oceanic time – the time which SoS is also strong in. Only thing which may matter is coordination and voice chat. Unfortunately SoS is mostly adhoc, leading to brilliant at times interesting strategy – pit that against JQ who are hardened coordinated players (who if are uncoordinated are punished by being killed) then we see if individual skill and macro strategy works vs zerg tactics.

And to gripe about the matchup – I really hope we dont get tower capture this week as it took me nearly 3 hours to get 1 tower cap last time we faced a T1 blowout – dem wvw dailies don’t complete themselves donchaknow.

Twilight Arbor EXP F/U

Difficulty level should be increased for this path. Three naked characters shouldn’t be able to faceroll it. If you can’t do it, consider catching rabbits in Shaemoor.

I’ve done it circa two weeks ago and frankly, I can’t recall this boss fight at all.

Thats because you are compensating lack of equipment with individual skill.

A single mistake by a party member could eventually kill everyone, and thats the issue. Exact skillful gameplay is fun for some, but not for others, and F/U path really stresses non-skillful gameplay people out.

But this path is supposed to be hard if you are prone to making mistakes. If you don’t make mistakes then you can go gearless, not equip utility bars, use only off handed weapons, always have a full bar of endurance, not use any consumables ect.

Player Choice: Good or Bad?

Player choice is ultimately good as it allows people with different play kittenylekitteno enjoy different content – and likewise awards both. I agree with your sentimentkitteno have a long lakittening impact based on our decisions – this is where the personal kittenory achievements came in – you could only get achievements for one race and one order.

The issue which comes up is when people who want to do both do not have the time required to do both. I’m not saying that the content designers intended for both to be done in a reasonable amount of time, if they did then some of the drama which you see would simply not occur. The other issue which comes up includekittenhe idea that some people WILL NOT get the back piece due to bad luck no matter how many dungeon runkittenhey do.

Its jukitten a matter of perspectives – I do believe hard work in the right method should yield appropriate reward, and I don’t believe players should jukitten get handed everything for jukitten exikittening. Where as others – using more efficient and exact game-play should net the reward, whereas if others don’t use a certain skill level of game-play, no matter how much time they put in, they shouldn’t get the reward. The issue is ANET can’t cater to both perspectives, since a) not everyone hakittenhe time or b) not everyone hakittenhe skill to complete which is why they have been adding separate paths as of late. But there is alwaykittenhe idea of accessibility – the back piece is always going to be a low accessibility item because it is intended to be rare, and the mini a high accessibility item because it is a keepsake.

But back to some issues with having low accessibility – take for example trib mode in SAB. Yes some people have a easy time running it, and I have friends who can do world 1 in 25-35 mins while in trib mode. I wanted to get trib mode done (I don’t exactly have the bekitten skill in this game) so I put time into it – came out with doing w1z1 in 3 hours, and w1z2 in 3.5 hours. I was glad that I was able to get it done, but at the same time I had mixed feelings about the accessibility being too high compared to the work done. Yekittenhe whole point of an MMO ikitteno kittenuff your face full of possible thingkitteno do so you don’t get bored, and yes many players do a reward vs effort consideration BEFORE getting something done, but not everything can be quantified in time before hand(such as SAB trib mode or even the new back piece).

You mean like a few other metrics:

KDR
Keeps – hours kept, times defended, times lost
Towers – hours kept, times defended, times lost
Camps – hours kept, times defended, times lost
Yaks – number of yaks successfully made it to an objective
Supply / upgrades – amount of supply burnt on upgrades (maybe only successful)
Hours of bloodlust held

All of the above basically coming up as an end of round score card like in FPS / RTS end round screens. Or – an active one which updates regularly.

I support this idea. But I still like ppt as a measure of how well a server is doing right now to the player who wants to know if they should help in WvW or do something different.

Its like saying before the torment rune nerf if you make the runes and a full set of condi duration gear for an engi that you will want to be reimbursed for the nerf. If the rune gets nerfed that sucks across the board for any build based around it. But you don’t see engies complain they cant stack 25 stacks of torment with a simple kit usage and then demanding to be reinbursed for making torment runes.

It might just be an animation thing – animations are sped up by quickness but the effect should persist. The only other issue is things like focused renewal which give you an effect while channeling for which the channel time is reduced by quickness.

Sigh, this is like saying that because there are two camp guard models they must be identical and thus only one should exist. But all kidding aside – Shatterer doesn’t need a unique skin to be called a dragon champ right? Also there are more than 1 dragon champ per elder dragon. You may say its either “lazy programming” or a “bug” but I call it an important piece of the lore. I bet Konig is gonna say there are multiple champions mostly generically the same who land and players beat up in the blazer-ridge mountains based on the two dragon sighting.

Well – for dungeons (solo runs), fractals, personal story, and SAB the ability to idle is important. There were a few times in personal story and SAB where I would have to do something else for around 30 mins to upwards of 2 hours and didn’t want to lose my progress. This is especially true for SAB trib mode, or even SAB achievements, where if you get booted or log off you lose progress (trib mode takes me around 2-3 hours in the first go to do, I rather not have to spend that time doing the level again).

I’m not saying that open world should be subject to instanced rules, I’m saying idling should be allowed for instances but not for open world. At least in open world everything is persistent – you won’t lose progress on something except for the dynamic events.

Gold sinks – are you using open world Waypoints – if so they charge you money to use. Also if you repair armor thats another gold sink. If you trade post your drops instead of merching them it will charge you a listing fee.

Personally I think the addition of the ruins area caps are an interesting tactical mechanic designed to slow down zerg warfare by adding additional objectives. It also put an emphasis on having a presence on every borderlands – causing less pvd and more pvp to happen. Alot of complaints I notice are those of “we don’t have anyone to fight” or “oh yeah you just pvd on your BL” the fact that the points decay are nice in that when a smaller server needs to run a lightning op on an opponents borderland, all it takes is around 15 or so people to get that 3 stacks of world bloodlust. Sure your uptime, if you are a smaller server might not even be 20% but you can still tactically use it when you attack and be sure to hide when the other servers have it.

The main issue that people are reacting to is the idea that a server in a particular match-up is so outnumbered during their non-peak hours that they can’t play wvw due to the other team being able to camp the bloodlust ruins. Although this is a major concern when you are dealing with T1 and T2 servers when you are a T4-5 server, this isn’t much different from when there was no ruins and you were already outnumbered – just that the opponents now need to dedicate thier resources – when they are supposedly winning – to hold the bloodlust ruins so that they can maintain a lead / still win vs your 20-30 man afterhours zerg. I don’t presume to know how many numbers a server can muster off peak time – but like I said above, unless the other server has so many numbers that they can allocate 30-40 guys to camp bloodlust ruins just so they can maintain an advantage all the time during both your peak and non-peak hours without affecting their PPT capture ability, I don’t think we should be complaining.

What Anet can’t seem to get right is balance. We don’t need everything for no effort, and we certainly don’t need it within two hours, but we also don’t need to be calculating up a 4 year time frame of playing an hour or so a day just to achieve the goal of crafting something. It’s not just legendaries. I was looking up Mjolnir earlier. 350 Charged Lodestones. At the rate those drop for me, I’ve had around 4 since October of last year, and to build Mjolnir, you need 350 of them. They simply don’t drop.

The issue is introducing items to the economy in different avenues in which many different play style groups play. They had a hard time in the past, with the advent of orrian boxes, champ loot boxes, and upgrading them bags of goodies it has helped. But the issue you are pointing out remains – scarcity of a particular item you actually need in order to make what you want. With the random drops we get we have no guaranty that we will get what we need to make a rare weapon.

Where as I totally get your point, I disagree that the newer content is at fault. I feel that the newer content is much better at balancing the resources than the old patches (CoF P1 farm ridiculousness), and while ANET does make mistakes (Cough deadeyefarm cough) they try to address it and fix it. We are going a step in the right direction, but we have to make baby steps with introduction of goods.

Sure the ascended weapon crafting was a huge shock to the system, but it overall promotes a healthy life cycle for the market in which goods are ACTUALLY being used (instead of speculated massively with). And it was a sink of lower tier mats, not really high tier mats.

Hey Delta – As far as I know the gem cards are locked by server region – aka US or Europe.

With that said though, I know its not a) locked to your account via your credit card info b) unusable by friends in other countries so long as they are on the same server region.

But be careful, there are certain terms and conditions regarding the cards.

Regardless sending a code to a friend, or receiving one from a friend is viable – if not better way of letting them use the gem store (especially to hold the gems for later sales, or to let them buy account upgrades).

ANet is still coming to grips with the idea that players who claim to want hard content believe that content being hard is not rewarding in and of itself.

In a MMO u have to be rewarded for any content, thats just how it works. if i was playing super mario then not getting rewarded wouldnt be a problem!!!!!

I think you actually get enjoyment out of hard content like super mario – which is not a game tangible thing, but enjoyment none the less. Its why we play games in the first place, for enjoyment. ANET should have support for alot of different forms of enjoyment – theres the outfitter enjoyment (fashion via reskinning one’s characters), pick up and go casual enjoyment, smart play enjoyment, efficiency enjoyment, completion enjoyment, and text enjoyment. ANET has done a considerable amount of work for the outfitter and casual players (unless you like fully clothed females, or not ridiculously huge pauldron males). They are just lacking in the smart play and completion enjoyment category. Efficiency enjoyment will always find the best way to complete things no matter how the game is arranged unless there are build optimizers designed into the game and auto defense macros also designed into the game. Text players will be ok with whatever happens so long as they could talk to others.

I personally think its high time ANET did start making some inroads to support the two categories which are willing to toss in cash (both smart play and completion will spend cash to get better rewards, due to less time on hand, and more complete sets of gem only items).

There are tons of issues with developing hard content.

There’s the fact that most people will simply not do hard content. Because if it’s hard, that usually translates to tons of failures, which isn’t fun for most people. So developing hard content isn’t a good way to allocate limited developer resources.

There’s the fact that the people asking for hard content are not content with just difficulty, they also want rewards. That much is obvious with people complaining about Liadri and Fractals, both of which are typical “difficult” content but their rewards are not “up to par”.

There’s the fact that most of the new stuff will now come with achievements and that comes with the achievement locusts. If it’s hard content, the achievement locusts complain that they’re being “robbed” of points and that they’re unable to keep up with the other high AP players because of that.

I remember back in the day when you completed hard content and your only reward was “The princess is in another castle”. I sure didn’t start writing angry letters to Nintendo for that one, I just kept going on.

I totally agree with the first part of what you are saying – that hard content is not rewarding enough to justify doing it – by some players. I for one don’t get much satisfaction for beating a hard boss down after dying 50 times – the effort I had to put in and dying 50 times is just not worth it – learning enjoyment is not what I personally want in a game.

However the second part of what you are saying – the idea that players like me (achievement locusts) is also a good one. It underlies the fact that achievement players (a small population of players) shouldn’t always get time grind based achievements (even if I believe hard work should be rewarded). The issue comes when an achievement based player is also more skillful than I – it creates a shroud of jealousy which causes me to gripe. Other than achievements, I believe there should be a tangible reward other than satisfaction, or have no achievements or rewards for something which requires smart play.

But alas, GW2 does not conform to my beliefs or whims, I think a compromise is still in order. Bring us harder content!! Make the content have titles but no AP!! Give a way for smart play players to get grindy content done faster by giving them a “harder” option!!

Down the list for me- I have Howler and many other friends have the other ones

Bifrost – 8/10 Shoots rainbow projectiles, has a small rainbow footfall and has a cool rainbow particle effect, but doesn’t show projectiles on a elemetalist.
Bolt – 6/10 Has cool particle effects, crackling sounds, but has minimal footfall / aura and sometimes bugs out (annoying sound stays).
Dreamer – 10/10 Shoots Unicorn rainbows, even on a spread shot, has a small footfall, doesn’t bug out with an obnoxious sound.
Flameseeker prophecies – 9/10 Is arguably the best shield in the game for a Guardian, cool aura when drawn, pasges turn on skill use (not on shouts / instacast).
Howler – 8/10 nice smokey aura while drawn, nice waterfall effect when drawn from sheath, on warhorn skill use inner circle whitens up as a moon a smokey wolf appears in front of the user and a howl is played, but bugs out sometimes and the howl is played infinitely until weapon is sheathed.
Juggernaut – 10/10 nice metalic effect while drawn, quicksilver footfall, particle quick silver effects on weapon swing.
Kudzu – 9/10 nice golden arrow, flowery footfall, flowery hit effect, but can’t limit footfall (distracting to me sometimes).
Kraitkin – 8/10 one of the nicest underwater tridents (but not my favorite, see Malachidean) complete with some aura and particle effects on skill use, has a day night cycle for some variety, but comparatively the least impressive on effects to other legendaries.
Kamohoali’i Kotaki – 9/10 a simple legendary weapon with a nice subtle blood trait aura, some particle effect on certain skill use (looks like a swarm of ghostly sharks), draw and sheath effects.

What I hope is that this time the best loot comes from successfully beating the event and not stalling it to farm champs…

And hopefully it will be also punishing to those who come to the event, jam their 1 key down and go AFK.

Well, since you won’t get any drops from champs that spawn it would be quite stupid to farm said champs.

It’s as if ANet learned something from the Invasions?

I’ve also heard you get no reward if you fail the event. Another lesson learned?

ANET learned the lesson after first implementing the champ loot on Jormag – none of the champs there (which constantly re-spawn) drop champ loot anymore (they initially did).

Being rewarded for investing time is neither casual nor hardcore, it’s just tryharding.

Having no life is not equivalent to skillful play.

Implying that putting in time / hard work shouldn’t be rewarded?

But to be clear I believe that skillful play should cut down on the grind, for example killing a single champ than having to kill 50 random monsters.

But hard work is all some have – saying that only those who are skillful should get certain rewards is something akin to claiming that only those who have time should get the rewards. Both parties deserve the chance to get the rewards in tier own playstyle. Then there is casual play which is rewarded with random loot drops ect.

Inflation – general rise in prices over a period of time
Disinflation – general decrease in the rate of inflation towards the price before inflation
Deflation – general fall in prices over a period of time

I don’t think you will ever see deflation in this game. You would have to have more gold sinks than faucets. Disinflation has happened and will continue to happen.

edit: on second thought, there could be deflation by next patch. People may be less inclined to vendor blue/greens and sell them directly on the TP (which is indirectly a faucet). We shall see.

One more thing can cause deflation (but is a bit more subtle) – the lack of a party to want to buy an item at the price. Conceivably a gold faucet still on but at a very slow but consistent rate could spur the population to value their gold more, even if the total supply of gold is the same. Despite the supply, demand, and availability of gold, having a more prized currency than goods will cause some deflation.

Some of the issues seen by players now is the perception that gold comes easy, that we will get tones of gold in newer updates, and that we want products now as they are released without regard to the gold cost (I admit that a partial demand point, but is ruled by relative worth of golds to goods).

What I think would be great is a player re-evaluation of gold so that some deflation can occur without changing supply, demand, or the gold pool. But alas this would hurt market sellers.

Last night I chose to laugh when our golem driver died because he did not know golems could waypoint……

LOL!

A few months ago when I became a commander I didnt know they could port (I personally don’t really like using golems that much). Its just funny how the human experience could play such a major role in a game.

Anywho – CNB is super organized, and we like fighting against them – I have only seen them beaten twice, once by us when we caught them off guard while they were getting ready to cap sunny, and another when we blind sided them when they were casing 10 ebay randoms down. Alot of other times they simply were NOT content with seigeing up and PPT fights, they would frequently come out of their keep / tower and openly challenge us. Either way alot more fun to fight than most other matchups which has us outnumbered 2:1 or had major siege support melting our ranks.

Kudos to you CNB. Lest I forget AI, we don’t get to see as much of you.

There is no reason to punish them, either. Which is what making the timegates account bound does. While I prefer to not have more powerful gear that is intended to take a long time to acquire, I am completely against limiting that acquisition on an account basis.

While I agree with you that account bound time gating is not good, I don’t say thakittens punishment per se. Punishment is allowing completion players grind for 100 hours straight in CoF for 1 precursor. Punishment is preventing completion players from obtaining said precursor if they are told they can grind 100 hours straight in CoF in exchange for said precursor. Punishment is giving a precursor out 6 months later to anyone who did 100 hours of CoF whether consecutive or not. Allowing completion players like you or I to get what we want after 100 hours of grind, without a gate, is like allowing a child access to any sweet they want all at once. While I think most completion players are able to put a halt on the game so they don’t burn out, I think some are just like me who feel good with completion and will stop at almost nothing for it. Time gating is the ONLY way to help manage this compulsive behavior, outside of professional help. Where as completion gamers who CAN pause their playstyle, please recognize that there are other completion gamers who CAN’T do so.

Blame it on me. Blame it on that 1 korean guy who played WoW for 2 weeks straight to get to lvl 80 whatever with the BiS equipment and died of a heart attack thereafter. You can try to blame it on ANET, but when ANET is responsible for a huge chunk of time of peoples’ lives outside of work, sleep, and family I’m sure ANET has a sense of responsibility to keep us from burning out. Just like us as young parents have the sense to not give all the possible candy to our young kids (age demographic is 25-35).

Hey mate, not to say anything bad about how you did it… But did you kill Tom first? Or was there any other “red star” up on the map before you took on the raving asura?

If you finish each of the objectives, then kill the raving asura, you WILL NOT be able to progress.

Simply a word of advice, doing things out of sequence leads to headaches – however sometimes the game doesn’t realized you finished something.
