Because its much more effective. Especially if you go for a setup like 30/10/0/10/20 and get kit refinement. Because the toolkit alone with the KR prod and #2 skill will stack about 10 stacks of bleed on a node from the caltrops. Add the attacks from p/p and nades and you got one hell of a condition storm. Infact, I even use those exact traits and utilities in my build in tPvP. Elixers such as B and S are effective, but they proc with passives from just 10 points in Alchemy. And besides, it’s more fun to use kits then spamming elixers all the time :P

What’s neat about the flame turret overcharge is that it can ‘charge’ persay, until an enemy aggros it! What that means is you can leave it overcharged before a fight happens, and it’ll instantly do the ability once someone gets in range. Pretty nifty ability, not a bug at all (or to my knowledge at least).

Hey, first off welcome to the wonderful land of Engineer! I would consider myself a vet since I have over 500 hours and 1k PvP matches on engi alone. The thing we do best is honestly everything. When the devs said “Engineers are the jack of all trades”, they really weren’t kidding. Many people argue that engis can do everything, but not nearly as good as other classes. In some ways, yes they are right, because it takes more effort on our part to do the same result as another class. HOWEVER, what we have is extreme versatility from our kits. Unfortunatly our turrets and gadgets are unviable for most instances, but the kits are where we shine! Ranging from the tanky tool kit, to the massive damage of the grenade kit, we can do anything! Keep in mind, engineers have a much higher skill FLOOR than any other class. But in comparison, a good engineer is absolutely deadly! (for instance my buddy, Five Gauge, is scary as balls with his 100nade build. Just shows that a good engi is a major threat in pvp). So yeah, just keep with it and have fun! This is an excellent idea. It would help engineers back into the meta as a bunker for tpvp with the extra toughness. I really do hope ANet considers this, because it’s an excellent idea. +1

Tbh I don’t see how this proves anything since you’re just killing some baddies in spvp. Although with the recent advancement in meta (with builds like 100nades), engineers are a force to be reckoned with. Not sharing your traits is almost… Silly? Is that the right word? But it’s your build, so share it at your on will. It just seems like claiming engineers aren’t weak, but refusing to help the community is just ‘meh’ in my eyes. Decent video mate.

In regards to people depending on quickness for engineers, I have never once used quickness in any of my burst builds. With all the CC we have it really isn’t needed. If you’re having trouble doing massive damage then give 100nades a shot.

Staff ele’s aren’t near as good as a d/d. I know people, such as myself, enjoy playing with unviable classes/comps… But for a paid team wouldn’t it make more sense to get as much of an advantage as possible. Anyways, hope you find a good one mate.

I made an almost identical build and the concept works. I didn’t watch the whole video, but I notice you didn’t try the double Toolbelt spam with the turret. Place it then double spam by exploding and firing the bullet.

I didn’t know the healing turret spam at the time of the video, but I use it now!

Solid video, not too sure about the flamethrower, but I’ll definitely give it a shot tonight

Yes, I plan to upload some footage in a day or 2. I am just doing a few tournys to get some highlights to show with it.

Cool! Look forward to seeing how it works out. As it is now I run tankcat as a bunker engie with some success. And I’ll be honest, the static discharge build looks way too swingy for me. Either they die in 5 seconds or you do. That’s not really the kind of pvp I enjoy.

Yeah it’s not for everyone haha. It’s more for people who like to see alot of numbers that are big :P

EDIT 2: I used the throw turret trait because of a previously unpatched bug regarding a double heal with it. Change that trait how you see fit.

Same here, it lags insanely bad (unplayable) on some tourneys, but there is absolutely no lag outside of tpvp. This needs a fix ASAP…

I actually run an all engineer team for tournaments atm. You might have seen us around Anvil Rock or in matches. The team is called “Care Package Inbound [CPI]”

Okay, so it says that tournaments stay on queue and all hotjoin matches are unavailable to join. It’s not just me, no one can do anything in PvP. I noticed this happened last night as well, THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED ASAP. THIS IS WORSE THAN THE INFINITE LOADING SCREEN.

We should be able to use this as a weapon. Here are some attacks I even took the time to think of

1. Shoe toss: Throw your shoe at enemy (causes 25 stacks of fear)
2. Slick shot: Shoot your slick warm liquid at foe (causes burning for 16 seconds)
3. Friendship lazer: Pew pew the power of friendship (changes foe to your team)
4. Slick shoes 9000: Spam the foes screen with sensual photos of slick shoes (immobilize for 5 seconds)
5. Megazord: Summon a megazord to uninstall your foe’s game. (copyright by Nature).

Is the megazord made of slick shoes?

I do a very similar build with 2 changes:

-Adrenal Implant instead of Power Wrench
-Self Regulating Defenses in Elixirs (I feel this synergizes very well with the fact that all our toolkit abilities reset at 25%).

Exactly, I use those exact ones for those reasons as well on my burst build. I use Power Wrench on my more defensive build with this because my survivability warrants the cooldown reduction for clutch 3 second blocks, but on this spec, I’ve found I typically either kill my opponent or they kill me before 15 seconds or so, so I don’t usually get full use of the Power Wrench CD on a burst build.

And Self-Regulating Defenses is a godsend for burst, especially once you realize you can still use kit moves while immune… I’m a big fan of hitting people with a very powerful tiny Crowbar while invulnerable.

Yeah, I think speccing for a little more defense would be better for tpvp.

But I’m a necromancer… I bring dead things back to life <3

Not sure where the dps comes from in this build. Nades are more effective when specced for condi, so wouldn’t it be more effective to do p/p and get a rabid amulet or something of the sort? Haven’t tried the build yet mind you, but it seems like depending on the nade tool skill alone isn’t enough once it goes on cool down.
