Not just you. Our guild is losing kittenloads of people as of June 23rd 2015. Even the hardcore players who have stuck around this long are leaving.
haha wonder if from a year from now they will look at that patch as the day PvP died..
I personally was happy with the patch as it changed things up, but wow it did not get test properly.
LOL, you scrubs weren’t around before Dhuumfire. There was a time when the Hotjoin maps were full from server 1 to 30., Dhuumfire came and literally destroyed PvP. Any player that wanted it to make it their Esport game and make a living from it, left. Dhuumfire annihilated the PvP hardcore community. Reducing the amount of hotjoin servers from ~30ish to 3 or 4 and stayed that way.
hahah what makes you think I wasn’t around before than. I’ve been around since closed beta. After 7 months I left to come back to finding tournaments no longer exist, scoreboard is a placeholder table, no more pvp exclusive gear. I question how pvp even exist at all in this game.

I am really curious.
The same OP classes all on one team. I just went 500-75. 3 Mesmers and 2 Eles they’d just warp between points and bunker down. Basically a warping zerg.
And ironically a premade in unranked. Go figure.
Absolutely not, I see a lot of Rangers (including myself) leaving and other non meta players who do not want to change their class and play a brainless Ele build… it is sad really
I just put up my coat when a dev said that HoT is taking priority over fixing bugs on rangers. This game isnt worth it and I could care less for HoT.
I’ve hit some of these compiled issues (like the 150 pet stats, some offhand range items and some pet traits not working while downed) and those should be getting addressed soon-ish.
We are working heavily on HoT and trying to get to these issues whenever time allows.
This bug in particular should be a high priority since dodge is needed on dungeons, world bosses & pvp.
- Longbow skills receive full cooldowns when cancelled during the initial cast.
As for the remaining items it is very concerning to hear HoT is taking priority over a broken class. I will wait till next patch and see what of it fixes rangers before I unleash my anger and disappointment across the internet.
Ranger hate is bandwagon hate. People only hate rangers because it’s some sort of fashion to do so. One person complains about a ranger using Longbow 4 against an enemy they were in the middle of melee about – and the whole crowd followed them with pitchforks.
The same argument the OP has said about rangers can probably be said about most classes, as I’ve heard people saying Necromancers and Mesmers and Guardians are the easiest to play too in various map chat conversations, though there doesn’t seem to be an abhorrent hate following those classes like there is against the ranger.
No,that is what You personally think why people dislike rangers.I dislike them for their 1500- 1700 range pew pewe dmg comparable to landing a full 100b but without the need to even land an opener first to make a connect, its just stand and Pew Pew Pew Pew .It’;s quite kittening ridiculous if you ask me,Any fight they will join, you either have to bail or focus the ranger straight away. It’s too easy to land a powerfull burst with a ranger from 15 – 1700 range.
Lock a ranger into place while using rapid fire,no free movement so he has to think about when to actually use it instead of blindly pewpewing, and any movement after will cancel it immediately.
That may be one of the worst suggestions I’ve seen on a ranger. They already are locked in place practically.
If you are unable to dodge a ranger pew pewing from that range you deserve to lose every time period. There is plenty of utilities whether it be reflection, retaliation or obstacles to cause obstruction.
There is a reason why high ranks don’t use rangers, and it is most certainly not because they are OP. They are broken by anet.
I don’t even know where to start on how wrong you are.
There are a few simple reasons why Ranger isn’t getting buffs right now.
At it’s current state, Ranger is just extremely easy to play, and there are a few reasons supporting this argument. I will use Longbow Zerker Ranger as an example from a team fight perspective.
I just skimmed the remaining post after reading the above part. Play as a S/T & A/D in high pvp ranked and still tell me it is too easy. While my main is still guardian, my alt is Ranger. And I can say with 100% absolute confidence you are dead wrong.
You pick and choose utilities/skills and what they do without taking account their cooldowns, or how long they last.
Please take a screenshot of the % of time you’ve played as a ranger in PVP and post it, because your entire topic comes off like bs.

I have been on both the losing and winning end, but I have noticed since the big June 23rd patch it has gotten real bad. To the point where, I’ve actually witnessed for the first time in 2 years an entire team rage quit.
Is anyone else noticing this?
Is it due to lopsided classes?
Does the PvP Matchmaking Algorithm need to be re-worked?
Is it because of guild pre-mades in unranked?
Could it be an uptick in players trying out new classes?
Is there an uptick in new players?
The above is just observation across the board.
I don’t know if I am the only one seeing it, but hopefully Anet has statistics on match play (unlike their leader-boards )
Short Answer: No.
Long answer: It takes 1 person to kill a D/D ele unless they are really good. Bring chill or just don’t fight it, rotate elsewhere. 99% of D/D ele’s cannot kill anything anyways, just watch out for the few good elementalist players. If you are being kited as a Warrior in Rampage LOLWUT then you should…
…
How?
Wrong on so many levels.
Ele is by far one of the most viable classes in PVP and it is for a reason. While it may not need a nerf, other classes need to be brought up to balance to match it. Especially the ranger class. I have seen 4 v 1 against an ele, and while he did die it still took 5 minutes which is ridiculous.
And to say Ele can’t kill anything absurd. Burning in of itself is OP and ele have a trait line dedicated to fire. They shouldn’t be punished for it, but seriously? Even my wonky alt d/d ele does major damage in ranked.
Thanks for compiling these issues!
I’ll keep an eye on this thread. Changes may take a bit to reach live, but they’re being worked on.
Is there a specific reason why this will take a while to get live? I understand there is patience involved, especially with the turnaround time needed for HoT, but right now Rangers are at a stand still & crippled in PvP. We can’t even build a team with a ranger, do to the class breaking bugs mentioned in the OP. I would hope fixing the ranger would be a priority.
My opinion only, and does reflect other’s opinion..
As a long time ranger, I can tell you with do NOT pick a ranger. In its current state you will regret. I hate the ranger so much that even I want to quit the game and wait for a few months to see if anet fixed the bugs and buff them.
My apologize if this came off like a QQ response, but it is gross how bad the ranger has become
Was actually kind of hoping this kind of build wasn’t going to get to posted. I run a similar one, but I already expect the “Guard” to get nerfed. Still its not like d/d eles don’t have infinite might.
1) Ele
2) Mesmer
3) Warrior
4) Guard
5) Theif
6) Engi
7) Necro
8) Ranger
ANets in-ability to balance the ranger properly whether it be a buff, nerf or bug fix is not just bad anymore…. it’s straight up sad.
There are more bug posts in their sub-forum than any other and has been for months
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger
So the inevitable Taunt nerf has come, and rather quickly.
They even add internal CD on traits I never really bother to pick anyway lol…
Oh LotF would never be picked by any none SB spec ever, and SB is still a crap weapon.
(10% increased duration for 4 secs on dodge lol , while other classes get 30%~100% constant condition duraiton)So Mesmer is ok to have blind that ignores evasive/invulnerable target while taunt shouldn’t lol. The double standard is real.
Yet, no fix to any of the Mesmer or Ele OP traits lol… (PU and blind shatter say hi)
No fix to our off-hand, traps, and spirits problem. No fix for the pet’s missing attribute.
All it has is nerf after nerf on an already under-powered class.
GG Anet for slapping in ranger’s face once again. Guess ranger is really Anet’s least favorite profession of all time.
Maybe anet wants every ranger to be a power ranger and to jam the long bow down our throat haha. -
Show me an ele build that can spike like a mesmer and bunker at the same time.
Your welcome

Have to agree with this thread after the last few matche I’ve played. I will say this, ele’s are killable, but a D/D Ele that knows what they are doing is like god mode.
4 vs 1 and it still took 4 minutes to kill him while the rest took the lord. We only did it to see if it was even possible to kill him.
I made a similar post about premades being allowed to play unranked. It is dumb that a guild team just rolls over PUB teams 500-100. There is no balance to it.
I do disagree with not allowing solo players to play ranked.
People have been saying this for month that Ranked needs to have a higher reward. This will encourage the guild teams to play ranked & still appease those that want to play with friends in unranked.
I know this may be a dumb question, but after returning to the game after a year it is like starting new again.
Is there a player search on the Leaderboards or a way to see my own rankings?
I have to be honest, the stats/info in Leaderboards is lackluster to say the least.
I mean. Sometimes people want to play with their friends and aren’t grouping up just to secure an easy win. Unranked doesn’t matter, so there’s no reason to not allow people to play with their friends when doing it.
And sometimes people just want to play pvp without having to search team, and not playing against premades.
I guess they shall go to ranked… oh wait, its full of premades.
Then maybe unranked… oh wait, this is a place with “friends having fun together”.
Well, at least soloQ still here… oh wait, it was deleted, because otherwise nobody wanted to play pvp solo against premades and “friends having fun”.
I guess we have a little problem here. You are right. I think ranked should be full premades only, while unranked would be only for 1-3 man parties. That way we could have some serious games in ranked instead of all these soloq rotations.
I agree with this as well and good points across the board on this thread. I didn’t consider the practice part, but I do believe practicing on un-premade teams in unranked makes it feel like wes are punching bags.
The playing with friends part I do get, which is why I think the 1-3 formation is a good rule of thumb. 5 Players from the same guild should be guaranteed ranked.
Whataboutism continues. You should give r/worldnews a try.
Point being, you have enough ways to escape as a Ranger, or at least give your team enough time to help. These abilities are perfect for escaping.
So does every other professions, especially the 5 popular Meta classes. (Doesn’t include ranger just so you know) They all have excellent damage, survival, escape method, defensive measures, that’s why they become Meta in the first place. Regardless, to a ranger hater likes you, you wouldn’t care anyway.
Power Rangers are practically meta right now. There isn’t a match without a pewpew Ranger standing on a cliff somewhere pressing 1. It’s an easy, annoying and effective build to climb ranks with, or whatever GW2 has.
Hambow was stupid with its ridiculous stunlocks but pewpew Ranger takes it to an all new level. The build is broken and toxic, it shouldn’t be a thing and you know it, which is why you don’t have any argument apart from whataboutism.
But obviously players abusing this crap will defend it to the bitter end. I mean it is fun to shoot stuff from 4 maps away. I guess it’s the same group that spammed Sway in HA back in GW days.
“Hey guize pros aren’t using it so it’s balanced!” – Yeah right.
So to sum up the TL:DR
Rant?
I agree it is an annoying build, but for it to be effective requires a player to be competent. Power rangers are squishy, they need to make sure to have the high ground & not get kited. A decent D/D Ele, S/D Thief can take on a power ranger. Just because a build is effective by good players does not make it nerf worthy,
(edited by Wolfs Shadow.7234)
Correct me if I am wrong but to achieve that kind of damage you need to be at maximum range. In this scenario ranger is support.
In turn this situation could be considered a double edge sword (double edge bow? see what I did there? ). Rangers long bow is not always effective when in CQC, so duck, dip & dodge or use the landscape to your advantage. Unless they have the high ground.
I am wondering what the reasoning is behind it. Not trying to cause a stir, or troll. Just wondering what ANet’s decision process was with this. Since most of the newer pvp players typically play unranked, having being farmed by guilds or premades is not just annoying but also getting old.
Played the game since launch for 6-7 months and than took a break. I came back because my friends got into it again, but are on a different server. The moment I realized I had to pay $20.00 just for a server transfer my jaw dropped. I don’t expect GW to change based on this post, but I hope someone from their team reads it because I can tell you right now I lost all feeling to return to the game when I saw that.
Even in Guild Wars one at the very least it didn’t feel like we were being nickel and dimed.
$20.00 doesn’t seem like much, but include the price you paid for the game ($80.00). I am not jamming more money into a game that everyone is saying is dying. Now I am understanding why.
kitten I miss GW1
let the grind begin
