Way too many. More than there should be. Most you come across in legend play like rubies.
FTFY
hmmm most rubies play like amber
… so most legends probably play like amber.
I’ve seen a ruby ask us what home was…..
I’ve reported this as a bug 5 times. ANET doesn’t respond to bug reports, but I also don’t think it is at the top of their priority until a bunch of people abuse it. Seems to be the on-going trend as of late. I reported this a long time ago
Good riddance. I look forward to what the next meta will bring. As an ele main, I think ele will go back to being a more damage oriented bruiser, while fresh air is very likely to make a comeback (yay!). What are your thoughts on other likely builds for the other classes? Discuss!
Edit: That is not to say that bunker tempests will not be a thing but as their support capabilities will be reduced due to diamond skin change (we can’t trait aura share anymore) and aura duration change, along with the removal of cele amulet (although the new amulets look interesting), they are likely to decline in popularity.
The next meta is condition meta again so really….? One meta will get replaced by another it never ends as long as class stacking exists.
Did you guys lose pips in that match? I have a hard time believing they gained any. Not sure which side you are on blue or red
There is a pretty good chance that Necro’s will be the next meta and will be regarded as OP.
that is messed up on a new level and has to be a bug. Did you report a screenshot as well in game?
Can you remove people without elite specs from ranked matches? I am tired of having them on my team and lowering my win chances. At the very least try to put people without HoT/elite specs into their own teams so I dont have to play with them.
this is such a troll thread
Strafing, if you are in range, or get to melee range if you see hammer. Problem solved. there are 2 additional counters to hammer besides the usual of dodge/blind/block etc
But i guess its easier to complain on forums rather than L2P
Clearly did not read thread lol.
There are no complaints about it in small format WvW, in a duel you can see the wind up and ur not going to get hit by the final CoR in the chain. You can push to the target and engage in melee.
The problem comes when you have 5 of them at the back of say a 30 man zerg, in fact with hammer how it is you might as well replace every backline DPS class with a rev. Zerker staff eles, get rid of them, DPS necros, cya later, no waiting for wells to come off cooldown, hammer 2 every 2 seconds!!. Replace all of them with hammer Rev’s, they are vastly superior in DPS.
If you dont play WvW a lot you are not really qualified to be talking. T1 backline for zergs or guild groups 15+ is pretty much a chain of hammer revs. You cant strafe and avoid 5-8 hammer revs CoR’ing every 2 seconds, you cant push through 30 people to
get to melee range if you see hammer
like the kittening Einstein’s on here would have you think is the counter.
In fact given the pirate ship meta you cant push at all unless you want to be blown up in about 1/2 a second.
First of all, WvW is a failed format and no one cares about 40 v40 balance.
Then why are you even commenting, the complaints about hammer 2 are only in WvW groups 10-15 and up. Not PvP, not Duels, not PvE. Rather than coming into a thread not reading it at all and coming up with some solution that is not plausible to a problem you have no clue about.
There is a semblance of balance to WvW despite what you like to think. Im not even sure if it’s just an attempt to be disingenuous or you legitimately think the game has no balance at all in WvW. And some things just break that entirely like the hammer 2 skill. Look at other backline skills, Meteor shower has a 1.3 coefficient and a 30 second cooldown is a good example.
Also notice you are the only one crying about hammer 2. If your complaint is about wvw take it to the wvw forums. Hammer is fine in pve and spvp which are the game modes Anet is balancing on. When everyone else tells you that you are wrong chances are you need to stop replying
Lol all these people defending their broken class. I know it probably scares you to think that you might have to be balanced to be more comparable to other classes. He is not the only one “crying about hammer 2.” You must not log into the game very much. I hate to break it to you, but there is no doubt that ANet will nerf Revenant hammer. The only question is just when.
And why they would nerf underpowered weapon? Doesnt make sense for me.
It really kills my brain cells to read this after my elementalist was hit by a CoR that for some reason hit twice with one blow, dealing 10k damage each blow- which adds up more than my max health. I was 1 shot. How can you not agree with these two points:
1) Nothing should be hitting 10k except maybe kill-shot on warrior.
2) Nothing should be one-shotting ANYONE.I know you really want to keep a broken advantage over other players, but please don’t make such an eye-rolling joke response to me. The reason I know ANet will nerf it is because (if they stick to their past behavior in patches) they nerf every single skill that does really high damage up until this day. CoR doesn’t only have really high damage, it has game-breaking high damage. Why play any other class if you can smack multiple people for over 10k damage with a skill that only has a 2 second cool-down and 1200 range?
Come spvp and show me these mad 10k crits on my tempest. Oh and in case if you didnt know – on regular basic true shot hits harder than max range CoR.
Oh and in case you haven’t logged into the game recently, everyone and their mother knows CoR can easily hit over 10k.
Dem 10k crits
Any coordinated team would focus you in a hearbeat given how glassy you’d have to be. I am always in amazement when players criticize damage output on a power rev as if they have no weaknesses at all. I actually get excited when I face a power rev because if they are not good at dodging or know the concept of fight or flight it is a easy kill always.
Let me get this straight.
1. Manipulate the system to climb the ranks is “fair”.
2. Removing that ability is “unfair”.
+1
Not sure I understand OP at all….
Because you get 1 pip it is meaningless?
This is how it should have always have been.
Do people really want legendary status and tiers to be achieved easily?
Leagues was supposed to be about skill. But since so many players abused the system most players don’t even take leagues or what teir your in seriously. Anet and community both can share the blame for that.
The only thing meaningless was this season of leagues which is to bad because it takes away credit from those who did truly earn it without manipulation.
3 pips away from Legendary. All soloq’s. Just had a Ranger on my team that used only longbow, off point, pew pewing a bunker necro, over an already capped point by the enemy the whole match. If he died, he ran back and did it over and over again.
How did he get to Diamond, let alone past Ruby?
Thank you for the quality matchmaking Anet.
This exactly what happens when people MMR manipulate. So instead of ANET fixing the issue they don’t touch it until next season.
I mean to be honest is there anything. When you take in account stability that a mesmer can have, trying to disrupt them before the revive is like pulling teeth.
I think the system is flawed, but the players are playing by the boundaries set by developers… They could have fixed it months ago, but they didn’t.
I didn’t PIP abuse, but I don’t blame players who did, they were only playing within the fields set by developers. Can’t keep blaming players because of game design.
The PIP abuse has fallen into several categories, the main 2 being: Those who use for PIP gain, and those who use for safety netting against PIP gainers, so they themselves don’t lose 2 from people using the PIP gain system.
Which brings me back to my first 5 words, I think the system is flawed.
Somewhat true, it is technically developments fault. But you can blame players for abusing it and now we have beginners sitting in diamond so soloing it is impossible this late in leagues.
Ironically, I think rev has better build diversity than most of the other classes in the game.
Theres 2-3 viable rev pvp builds with variations on eachother, meanwhile something like tempest or dragonhunter or druid really only has one viable option to be competitive.
For pvp specific rev only has 2
Condi rev and Power rev the other 2 elite is suicide or just sad in PVP.
Tempest does have more, that I do know. And can confirm this in metabattle.com.
As for DH & Druid, I can’t speak for them as much, but I do know that Rev’s lack of weapons were supposed to be made up in more utilities, current 2 of our elites are not viable options in pvp
Agreed that the damage isn’t good at all, but that slow can be horrible if you don’t have resistance or condi removal. If timed right you can actually pull off 2 Forceful Displacement.
The sad part though once you go down as a rev, your only hope is your allies. You have no good healing to get back up. Even vengeful blast is a joke.
Hi,
Lot of players says that staff is better than hammer in pvp. But, how do you deal with it ?
What s the rotation do to with ? How to use it ?
They say 5 carry lot of kills …
That s my first question, and the second is … power staff is it better than condi rev ?
It is better than hammer in my opinion.
But is situational.
Just for 5 alone can do the following.
5 is great for for the following
- Dodging out / extra mobility.
- Interrupting
- Pushing off enemy revives,
- pushing players off point on a close cap
- Downing a player quickly comes with practice, but you can do some serious damage. You’ll keep your eye on their boons, dodges & if possible on your own boons (might).
I can’t confidently say it is better than condi rev since that varies based on so much (team comp, opponents you are up against and really what players are most comfortable with). I still run condi rev, but power rev certainly should use staff
(edited by Wolfs Shadow.7234)
Just curious, what class or build is consistently able to beat the revenant and why?
Anything with condition…. especially necros & mesmers. They can boon strip and cc the crap out of you. People who don’t play revenant assume they have a ton of sustainability. This is not true unless you are teamed up with another rev and can feed each other resistance.
Because I main as a rev, when I run with my Mesmer I can crush revenants. The moment I see them switch Mallyx I chain CC them and call it good night rev.
The concept that two of our elites and traits are meant for PvE alone is a bit sad. It really would be nice to make ventari and jalis useful in pvp.
- Rite of the Great Dwarf (5s): Gain damage reduction. You are still susceptible to conditions and control effects.*
Jalis has one of the worst elites in the game for pvp. iT It sucks up all the energy and only last 5 seconds. Lets not forget Revenants soak up conditions like a sponge, and jalis does nothing to stop the damage output from condi’s.
Stone in Retribution is even better, while you won’t get the break stun, it at least reduces condition damage & doesn’t affect your energy. (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Versed_in_Stone)
(edited by Wolfs Shadow.7234)
the maps weren’t designed with gliding in mind like maguma
it will kitten it up
and anet knows this to be true
the only reason anet might add this eventually is to encourage the weirdos who didn’t buy the expac to do it because they will see gliders in the starting zones
say no to gliding in main tyria
Why are you telling us what we want?
I vote yes to gliding it adds another perspective and lets be honest the world designs in this game are gorgeous. I want to see it from TOP of the world!
Haven’t you heard? Rushing NPCS means you are skilled PvP player.
I enjoy sarcasm as much as the next guy, but if you are dumbing down strong hold that much then some of the most popular esport games (smite, dota 2 and LoL) are skilless games o_0
/rant on
You are going to need to find players to team up with at this point.
If you get the luck of the draw and find a good PUG in a match shoot them invites to group up. Because a party that understands each other and listens will put up a good fight and can pull off a victory more often than not.
I just wrapped up a 15 game winning streak starting as solo queue. I teamed up with the my 2nd group and we wrecked havoc from there on.
The bigger plus you make friends along the way and before you know it you have 20+ people to ask to group up if need be.
(edited by Wolfs Shadow.7234)
Have to agree to some extent, but trust me it is starting in Ruby now too.The MMR manipulation issue from the start
(people purposely tanking MMR on top of League manipulation) teams me up with players that don’t even understand what the word rotation.
I have nothing against bad players in general because they will eventually be good (maybe), but I have been waiting months for some sort of system to indicate skill level. I can’t even trust legendary players being good anymore. Had one legendary on our team that actually left a cap decapped with no enemies around not once but twice.
We will have to wait for next season just to hope it will be address properly.
What I see: The OP declares having found the new best, unbeatable, conquest comp. Reasoning: he 5 queued up and didn’t lose vs. what the matchmaking dragged in.
For many reasons listed in this thread, your suggested comp is far from unbeatable.
Contrary to what most are saying about Reaper, it can definitely function as a part of an optimized pro team comp.
Here’s what you’ll find if you continue with that comp: Druids lack both raw killing power and cleave. Enemies will easily Sneak Gyro-revive anybody you manage to whittle down, before the Mesmers can quickness stomp. Druids are at a noticeable disadvantage outside of 1v1, I can’t think of one reason to bring two druids.
Switch out both druids for either revenant’s, or ideally a Scrapper and a Revenant is my advice. Mechanically strong Scrappers and Revenants top the damage & utility charts at the moment.
Thank you claith we’ll certainly give it a shot. And try swapping out 2 druids for 2 revnants. At least the condition output and condi resistance would mean we’d drop the necro for a scrapper for the chained cc.
We could of just gotten lucky with the MMR and not facing any full team premades. It was a YOLO that just worked for whatever the reason being and probably never faced an organized full 5 man premade during our queue.
While my reaper is named “Over Powered Necro” and I play one hell of a reaper, it absolutely does NOT belong on any meta list. The meta comp is obviously double mes double rev and tempest or tempest double rev scrapper bunker mes.
The reason why necro doesn’t belong is it simply does not have enough sustain and cannot benefit from much of the healing being given out by druids/tempests in the midfight. In essence, it will die far before any of the enemies do.
Point of thread has gotten lost and I give up haha.
The point I was trying to make was that Druid Druid and Mesmer Mesmer were able to guarantee victories without ever rotating is a huge issue. We picked up someone whose main was reaper. We are leaving this game soon for blade of souls so just goofying around at this point, but the results to us were surprising because it turned into win, win, win etc…. not because of anything special but because of the randomness of stacking a heal with a tank not once but twice. And unless the team split us up it was always the same in the end…. a win.
As time went on we perfected it by passing our reaper back forth applying conditions and stripping boons along the way.
All I did was post our team. And the condition pressure and boon stripping did help us win quite a few times. I changed the title, my wording “Unkillable” got me in trouble it seems. I meant unbeatable.
But what you mention about current metas is the issue I was trying to make. As long as class stacking exists team meta will always be an issue regardless of the nerfs or buffs given.
(edited by Wolfs Shadow.7234)
People are focusing on your inclusion of reaper because it doesn’t make sense. Reapers are probably the worse class to pair with a druid because necros can’t take healing while shrouded.
Besides Revs have equal pressure to a reaper, better burst, and better mobility.
I can certainly see that RS would go up if they almost died. I just simply posted our team build. I should of just said nothing. We will probably pick up a random for all I care next time as the combo of Druid Druid Mesmer Mesmer was enough to never lose a point once we were on it.
You are saying that team is unkillable. Can you please upload a video later what happens if the enemy focusing on shutting down your necro? and druids after necro. i’d really like to see that team in the work.
I guess I should of wrote Unbeatable instead because yes he did die a few times, but it didn’t matter. The ability to strip boons and apply conditions and even slow the enemy down to the point where a majority of the pressure off our team gave us a victory every time.
While my reaper is named “Over Powered Necro” and I play one hell of a reaper, it absolutely does NOT belong on any meta list. The meta comp is obviously double mes double rev and tempest or tempest double rev scrapper bunker mes.

I really should of put a disclaimer up there. Yes, the point is the two druid two mesmer.
We decided to use a reaper in our game because honestly they apply the best boon strip and condition strip and are able to do it from a distance.
(edited by Wolfs Shadow.7234)
Yes necro (reaper) still can die faster than anyone in teamfight. So it can’t be meta ever. When will this be fixed so i have same sustain like every other classes? if i specc for survivability its still not good because than i don’t have damage and also don’t have that much more survivability as most profs can catch me because they also have better mobility. if i specc for damage then everytime i get a bit of focus i close to instantly send back to respawn. The problem is the focused necro doing 0 damage and also have to build up Life Force for more survivability that helps as much so i can survive 1-2seconds better can’t run away no matter how skilled the player is it’s just not possible. very easy to shut down. easy team kill. It needs to be fixed imo.
Why are people so focused on the necro in this thread hahah? That isn’t the point, I could of put God in there and someone would say he doesn’t have the right skill set
The primary focus of the reaper in our test was condition pressure as druid and tank hold points for the entire match. Something reapers do incredibly well. If they are unable to survive with a unfocused druid and mesmer as support than honestly the necro would have to be alt tabbed watching Frozen (I made a funny) in order to die. They should also never find themselves in a 1 v 1 situation their purpose is for support.
Unless the reaper has no idea what they are doing they would die in a team fight like this.
(edited by Wolfs Shadow.7234)
Uhh maybe L2P? Druids? Reapers? LOL. This comp is strong but it’s not unkillable. In fact I would trade the reaper for a Thief, better mobility and better +1.
Uhh maybe L2P? Druids? Reapers? LOL. This comp is strong but it’s not unkillable. In fact I would trade the reaper for a Thief, better mobility and better +1.
I see your point, but the thread really is meant to highlight the issues surrounding class stacking.
But why did we go with Reaper… well the reasoning is below.
- Mesmer portals negate some (not all) mobility issues for the reaper.
- Reaper supports Mesmers & druids so they don’t get locked in a long drawn out fight, especially on decaps with boon stripping & of course condi pressure.
- Reapers have enough sustainability should they become the focused target with the use of reapers shroud. And with a druid applying heals, a Mesmer stacking boons with yours, there isn’t much worry of being boon stripped either.
- The purpose in this comp was to slow the enemy down and put them on the defensive whenever possible making the reaper an ideal candidate
The 2 druid combo is specific to heal and heals alone keeping the mesmers and themselves alive from sunrise to sunset. You could go tempest or scrapper, but whats the point when the Mesmer are their to tank.
Also with a thief, I can see it for forest map, but otherwise no point when there is never a need to rotate. (hense the boring part I mentioned :-\).
Strategy? None get two caps call it GG
TL:DR?
- Mesmers Tanks & supplies mobility for Reaper
- Druids Heal
- Reaper applies pressure
(edited by Wolfs Shadow.7234)
You guys keep throwing out “reaper” as if they’re like the meta gods at the moment. they’re sub par at best.
Not trying to come off like a jerk, but please re-read my post.
Title:
The PvP Meta Team build that is unkillable.
OP:
Nerfing these classes will NOT fix the meta issue(S).
While I want to don’t want to get off topic, but I cannot for the life of me understand how why you would think they are subpar. They are the ultimate weapon in this team comp.
Removes mobility issues with mesmer portals in such away you can add condition pressure at two points in a blink of an eye. When portals aren’t up, the tankiness of these 2 classes in a combo form allows you enough time to rotate.
Also need to remember you have two of everything, this is not meant for a 1 v 1 one, but a 5 v 5. Reaper is only meant for support to slow them down and add condi pressure.
(edited by Wolfs Shadow.7234)
In the current meta conquest has grown stale and boring. Bunker meta there is no need to even rotate anymore.
In such there is more strategy in stronghold than conquest at the moment.
When it is a premade vs premade Stronghold is intense and flips sides at the drop of a dime. I can understand solo que’s distaste for it as you are right it can go cheese real quick.
In what might be the most boring meta ever in GW2 it would be the bunker meta.
Not only are they boring to play against, but boring to play as well. If there
As long as you have a player who has the basic knowledge of their skill rotation you will win. I can’t even imagine watching GW2 tournaments if teams run these builds. It is just sooooo boringggg, but it is a guaranteed victory.
Druid
Druid
Bunk Mesmer
Bunk Mesmer
Reaper *people keep focusing on this class when the thread is about the issue of class stacking, but the Reaper is far from helpless or in a bad place when they are used correctly.
Reaper for us was for the boon stripping, condition pressure.
Strategy? None get two caps call it GG or even 1 cap and 2 decaps. You will not die ever.
Simple….
Mesmer portals up
Druids heal
Nerfing these classes will NOT fix the meta issue(S).
Anet I can’t stress this enough………
As long class stacking exists this game will always have meta issues
(edited by Wolfs Shadow.7234)
Remember when we had another game mode. Team death match……? Good times for me at least
I was one of the unforunate souls who had him on my team not once but twice.
And he will rage quit or go AFK within minutes of a match.
1st time he rage quit 5 minutes into a match, we even made a come back and WON but still lost 2 pips because it was 4 vs 5.
2nd time he announces he is going AFK after only 2 minutes of match starting. And we weren’t even that far behind. My entire team reported him, but as usual Anet doesn’t do anything.
Don’t talk about respect as if you know what it is. If you are going to rage quit do it in hot join. Don’t ruin the game for everyone else who actually try in matches win or lose.
All I can hope is blocked players aren’t teamed up because I honestly never want you on my team again. I have ZERO respect for rage quitters.
(edited by Wolfs Shadow.7234)
People like it so much that I play it over half the time despite never voting for it.
I have to agree I can’t stand it. A terrible team could still end up with a win simply because they sneak attack the lord. For it to count for 250 is kind of insane. It makes me laugh at the hate for skyhammer when I see a map like this.
https://youtu.be/Mj0ZvV0x_SA?t=291
We all know Rev’s came into the game Next Level. Someone chop off one of their legs or something.
Just sayin -_-u
So because someone is skilled at Revenant, it must mean they need a nerf right?
Issue honestly is class stacking. What do you do when you have 5 druids on a team and they manage to get first cap….?
Call it GG and rage quit
play bunker mes, druid, scrapper or reaper – don’t need to be good to play that
Actually you do. It takes more that playing a meta class to win a match.
IE:
Learning when and when not to stomp
When and when not to rotate
When and when not duck dip and dodge
Bring back Team Deatchmatch!!!!
They add an expansion and remove a complete gametype? How does that even make sense.
Dear Customer,
We thank you for your purchase of Heart of Thorns. Please let us say thank you by taking away a map and game type.
Happy Holidays,
ANET
I do not care if a some players in pvp disliked it. All they had to do was add another checkmark for Team Deatchmatch.
I am still laughing at ANET’s purposed fix “Play 1 game a week to maintain current rank in leaderboard”
really?
why would that be illegal?
This game is filled with overlays.
Hell the wiki has its own spot for it.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/API:List_of_applications
The only thing you need to be careful about is modifying game files. If yolomouse does that, than yeah you will likely get dinged for it.
Botting reporting is not an option.
This is the 3rd match in ranked someone calls it quits mid-game. In the screen below it was 3 minutes into a match.
Well this thread escalated and went way off topic.
Short end of it. Score means very little. Even a team whose points are higher than their opponents can still lose. (depending on the map). In the end it boils down to who has the best strategy, rotation and as of late team build.
+1 play stronghold with or against a reaper, you will find out why.
In agreement with OP.
Prime example:
5 man DH premade and play stronghold. You’d actually have to try to lose, to actually lose. Just ran it with some of friends of mine…. it was more entertaining then anything else. So much rage from our enemy. Get ready for some “nerf DH” threads because of us.

I’ve tried reinstalling Nvidia drivers, gw2 32bit client, and compatibility mode. Does anyone know of any fixes?
Revenant is starting to feel like a singular build at the moment and I grown tired of glint/shiro in the past. Anyone have any suggestions on a new build for rev even to test.
In theory its not possible for soloq players to win team, in badly designed system you could punish them for not doing something they arent supposed to do but how can you put double punishement for what im not supposed to do in first place.
What im talking about is that i lost two times against party yesterday and lost 2 pips both times.Im not stressing about pips atm im just really curious, was this whole system designed by one person? And put in by one person? Cause i can bet if you would put this design on paper and show it to kids in kindergarten even they would see that there is problem here.
Ok whoever came up with this is wasting my time thats one thing but kitten m8 you have wasted 10 million years of human evolution, we are sending people in space and there is still human being on this planet who didnt see problem with how leagues work? Mindblowing.
In 100% agreement. I do not understand ANET logic anymore. Nothing they do makes sense. Even take a look at how they are combating guild league manipulation. Out of 7 days only 1 match is needed to stay on top of the leaderboard. Never have I seen a more kittened pvp. Even MMO’s that add pvp AFTER the game was created are better than this game.
No, a higher score means you contributed in specific ways, namely standing static on points for example.
You get no points for defending off point or running interference while someone else gets the Tranquility commune.
Personal score is a measure of how much you did specific things, wether or not those things actually contributed much to your team’s victory.
All correct, but adding healing too. Healing doesn’t apply to the points either.
