Fun times.

The specialization is actually quite well balanced. You’re able to get decent survivability with burst gear, or decent killing power via attrition with tanky gear. Its really just a L2P issue.

So… if I understand this correctly. You troll two players, come to the forums to tell everyone you think Reaper is balanced…. ?

Playing as a reaper and against one are 2 very different perspectives.

Not a chance at least not for this game. ANET ignored pvp for so long. They are going to have to seriously prove themselves as a contender before I place any money into this game for pvp.

It is hard to even take them seriously when I look the in balance of so many classes. Also PVE is to closely tied to pvp in this game to make it even viable. GW1 missed its prime, that game would of been perfect for esports.

It’s in the gem store for the same reason everything else is. Once the sales of HoT drops down ANet still needs a steady-ish supply of income and that’s from the gem store.

We’ve had this for three years, we all should be accustom to this. You all can bellyache about this but ANet is still a business and the gem shop is the corner stone.

Please re-read what I wrote in the OP. " I understand ANET is a business"
This among other things (broken promises) is bad PR.

They just released HoT which is a huge money maker for them. Placing brand new content that is specific to HoT directly on the gem store within weeks of HoT release is a terrible idea.

Your signature is the primary reason why I want ANET to listen. I’d rather not watch this game turn into CoH

And the actual rewards you can earn by just playing the content is extremely low quality compared with what you can get with RL money.

No one is asking you to use real money.
You want to skin?
Get gold, transfer to gems, buy the skin.

You are mistaken.
1) They nerf gold generating options. This includes dungeons & even crafting.

2) Made legendaries so expensive to create, that you are almost forced to pay for it with that currency exchange.

You also missed the point. Compare any new content & new skins to what is available on the gemstore…. even Halloween items is a perfect example. 80% of the items from Halloween had to be bought.

This game no longer requires skill. It requires $ to “pretend” you earned something. I could even buy my legendary. How pathetic is that.

The game has gone F2P, so there will be a much harder push for gem store content than there was before.

You make a valid point, but wouldn’t at least a good chunk of HoT make up for that since it is even a higher prices than the core game was for the last 2 years.

This is something that should be clearly earned in HoT. I understand ANET is a business, but honestly who at the meeting thought this was a good idea.

The fact that you have exalted armor, exalted weapons, it would only be logical to have exalted glider that can be earned or crafted. It is becoming very difficult to defend this game and even more difficult to justify any kind of grind when all the coolest skins can be bought. BL is destroying the reward system in this game.

EDIT : Please do not confuse this post with a QQ or the Salty tears of a homeless guy. I have likely spent more $ in this game not because I want / need items. I spend money to support a game I enjoy. Something ANET has taken for granted. Stop thinking of every player as a cash generator.

Were you playing strong hold by chance, because I notice if your teammates have no idea what they are doing it almost a guaranteed loss.

Also takes one ill mistake to lose in that map as well.

It is much easier to carry a team in conquest than it is on stronghold.

Such an important competition and they make one of the biggest mistakes when creating tournaments…
I would love to know the reason why the most important matches of the tournament will be running on Mondays at 18h00 CEST!
MOST PEOPLE WORK/STUDY in week days. Explain to me how can they even think about getting more stream viewers/subs, GW2 fans and competitive players/teams if they make the most important matches ON MONDAYS?!

I think disableing chat will actually do a disservice. I see where you are coming from, but you are better off blocking someone who is being a jerk than blocking team chat. I don;t quite understand why we can see enemy chat though. Much like in WvW where you cant see it. Why can we see it in sPvP?

It’s just a broken skill, combined with two heals, evades (Shiro) and block on shield (Glint) Revenants are too tanky and too mobile at same time.

In ANETs defense, this is how they’ve always done it. Even in GW1 update notes they were very vague on to why and how these balances were made. However ANET needs to learn to adapt. GW2 classes are much more complex then GW1 classes were. In GW2 a majority of of the skills affect another, and a skill rotation means life or death.

In addition gaming communities are not as forgiving as they once were and are now used to transparency, something ANET has is not very good at. Even HoT we were being fed bits and pieces.

A general request to ANET is to explain why each nerf or buff is made and how you’ve reached that conclusion.

Honestly, sometimes, I am shocked when one of the classes I play get a buff. Where did that come from (mindset)

L2p has always been the best excuse for bad class balance.

Who uses that as an excuse? It is true. L2P improves individual gameplay…..

On the flip side calling a class OP is a poor excuse for being outclassed. Play the class first before calling it OP seems like a better perspective.

They need to keep doing this on a continuous basis for the next short while. Like many above me have said, the elite specs are a bit over the top right now. So funny how people cry when Anet doesn’t balance for a long time and now that Anet is balancing frequently, people still cry. I for one am happy that Anet is balancing things quickly rather than waiting 3 months like the d/d ele “nerf”.

I agree on the d/d ele, that was honestly a joke for how long that stayed meta. Got so bad even ESL had to add restrictions to them.

However 4 balance patches in one week is a bit over the top. I was expecting once a week at best which accounts for enough time to accumulate enough data. Right now it feels like they are just guessing.

And calling out anet to slow down isn’t crying when it is justified. The countless OP threads which had no stats, screens, or justification behind them is crying. I am not saying pvp is balanced or there is no OP classes. I am simply saying base it on stats not on player feedback which is so lopsided at the moment.

The nerf to the revenant didn’t make much sense to me. It is a brand new class that has been out for only 4 days before they nerfed it. That is hardly enough time for even the players dedicated to the class to master it.

And rangers has been the biggest roller coaster rider from over buff to over nerf in a span of 48 hours.

Tempest: Shocking Aura to entire team nearly permanently while spamming the ridiculous massive AoE damage of Overcharge Air.

Reaper: Permanent chill and far more CC on Reaper Form while they get high stability up time and better damage than base and Rise gives too much sustain and damage in one skill.

Druid: New pets are obvious upgrades over base, too much free sustain for non bunker builds, ignore the people who complain about Astral Force generation because staff is probably the best weapon in one slot either way, too much immobilize if they take Ancient Seeds.

Dragon Hunter: Traps in general with their nearly instant ridiculous damage, CC and utility. Virtues are pure upgrades over base besides possibly Resolve since it can be interrupted but everything else about it is better. Too much CC in general with LB grandmaster, LB5, Justice pull and elite trap giving 12 seconds of barrier spam. Too tanky with a damage build compared to a normal Guardian damage build.

Chronomancer: 10 seconds of easily hit stuns that hit in a massive AoE and remove multiple stacks of stability. Need to remove Continuum or at least the cooldown reset portion which would solve above.

Scrapper: Too much defense and damage combined on the hammer combined with base Engineer amazingness with a free revive/stomp support.

Berserker: Pretty ridiculous condition damage and CC with mace.

Daredevil: Too much condition removal on dodge, but I still die on my bunker Thief to condition builds nearly instantly so…

Herald: Too much block/evade spam combined with amazing damage and healing. Hammer zerkers do some broken damage from ridiculous ranges with Coalescence of Ruin with just one use and it has nearly no cooldown.

In no actual order.

Rev dmg is out of charts, 6k dmg with CoR every 2 sec is bad. 3k autoattacks with hammer and that annoying sword teleport UA.

So in otherwords you’d like to nerf the class further even though it has been only out a week. The class already feels useless even though it outputs the damage of a theif without the reliability of stealth.

There is roughly 5 condition removals to boot, none of which are easy to use since energy is needed to use them. It is growing very tiring to see these nerfs threads when players who call them out haven’t even played the class long enough to understand its weakness.

…how everyone here on the rev forum would be like 2 years ago and onward as a devout elementalist player who had to face THOUSANDS of nerfs in every single patch and hotfix. As an ele main, I believe us players now have the thickest skin when it comes to changes like these. I remember waiting anxiously before patch notes were up and then crying myself to sleep every night…

Jokes aside, everyone is hating on the 5 second cooldown… The rev threads sound exactly like how the ele thread was years ago when this nerf occurred:

Ride the Lightning skill:
Increased recharge increased 20 seconds to 40 seconds.
Recharge is now halved if the player strikes a foe.
Reduced the range to 1200 from the previous (hidden) 1550.

Now, THAT was a nerf

These changes are probably staying for the Rev, so everyone’s just going to have to keep riding the lightning (PUN)…

Rangers probably are the most beaten up class because they face the rather of the pvp community and anet alike. And lets not forget the numerous bugs rangers face on top of the broken pet mechanic.

So “healthy gameplay” is a full bruiser meta? because thats what you gonna get if you make support roles unviable. Rip support guard. With the current power creep, only the new amulett could make it somewhat good. Before the patch we only saw cele running around and we will go back to this again. Its seems like cele is the healthy gameplay anet is looking for.

They mean not allowing a single player to 2/3v1

The game has been out in less than a week and there has been 4 overnerf & overbuff patches across all classes…. that is insane and some terrible testing. I am not even including the insane lopsided balance issues when HoT came out.

There isn’t even enough data to justify these quick of buffs and nerfs which makes me worried they are balancing based off of people’s QQ.

There is something very wrong about druid healing. Full Bunker druid can take on 3 or more player without hp going down below 50%. I think Anet should do something about druid healing. I myself don’t hate bunker and i always believe bunker is 1 of the most important role in pvp but if a druid can take on 3 player or more on point without going down its a serious problem.

DH isn’t OP and people just need to learn to avoid the traps. it’s so very simple. DH is hardcountered by any ranged pressure. druid/ranger eats DH for breakfast. the only problem will be your unaware teammates if they run onto the point and get wiped.

so in other words, what makes DH OP is people’s stupidity.

Just finished a match with 2 brand new players against a guild pre-made of dragon ranks and one phoenix. At least based off the finishers I saw.

Courtyard is no longer in unranked (or ranked) queue. Your options are “Conquest” or “Stronghold”.

I think some people missed your sarcasm there, Jim. That said, only time I’ve seen a faster ranger ‘update’ is when they fixed the longbow giving buffs. And that took a week or two.

Good times.

Honestly, I think this was the fastest nerf I’ve ever seen in any game to a class.

It is completely OP that ranger pets passively use their hard hitting skills without the rangers having to do anything.

Rangers pet controls should be nerfed so that their F1 toggles between attack and return to me. When a ranger selects a target “attack” becomes active, after pressing it “return to me” takes its place. If a ranger selects a new target it changes back to “attack”.

The ranger should now be forced to slot one of his other pet skills in the F3 slot. For example his bird could use quickening screech, pigs could use brutal charge, or the drake could use tail swipe.

No more easy mode passive play for those lazy rangers, make them actively choose when to use their pet skills.

I know it’s sunday so you can’t make this ranger nerf happen as quickly as usual but I’m sure you can get this knocked out by tuesday.

Jack of all trades, master of none. Agood ranger can adapt to fill pretty much any role on the fly but there is always a profession that can do the job better. This is why they do well solo queuing but are rarely seen in competitive teams.

Well if we could perma stow our pets then it wouldn’t be an issue. Until then, we will all have to deal with pets…

50% of our skills require a pet so it’ll never happen. And ironically there is a bug at the moment which does permanently stow the pet. Trust me its not fun.

I used to blink in there all the time. It has seemed better tho for me the past 5 months or so I haven’t had an issue there where it was about twice a month I’d get stuck in there. Maybe it got broken again or you were just really unlucky.

was a first time for me, so I think it may of just been bad luck it actually lost us the game because they took their home back.
