Nice! Thanks for the update on this, I’ve been thinking revive orbs are useless lately, like, to the point where, if you can actually survive and use it, your whole team is probably OOC already since if you get hit once you’re back down.
I would like to request an option wherein you decide how many pieces of damaged equipment before the damaged (orange shield) icon appears below your health. for example, don’t show until 5/7 of your armor is damaged just as a qol so you’re not always wondering how many pieces you have damaged and the icon doesn’t appear until you seriously need repairs.
core game is for training, once you hit 80, all your characters be 80 simply through that one character gathering tomes and the like (that’s how I have 7 80’s even though I really only play 1) the hard content is heart of thrones, open world before that needs to be casual so you can farm materials and equipment/items at a decent pace as you head towards fractals and harder
This is very much a question of the definition of “one action” – depending on whose point of view is taken “one action” could either mean “one keypress” or “open a stack of bags”.
Personally I would never program any macro to perform more than ONE sengle keypress, since I feel I’m then 100% safe; I would really hate it if I programmed a macro to do “/dance” and have my account banned over it. Not that the risk of that ever happening is anything but miniscule.I would say that the only 100% safe way is to not even program an emote; anything but that runs the risk of falling under the bannable definition. It’s entirely up to the OP to decide how big a risk he’s willing to take.
one action = 1 key press
one keypress != /laugh that is 6 keypresses. the Only exception in the entire game is the allowance of automation of music. they have not on a case by case basis allowed any other macros or script automation.
the harp expires after one hour even if you’ve switched octave and the octave timer has 50+ minutes on it, I feel this is a bug since it’s not stated anywhere that the harp itself should only last one hour after wielding.
all characters are good at their own thing and equally as viable in pve… that’s why balance patches keep coming out to ensure no class trumps another. thief requires more skill and may have a better time overall if you can master it though.
its good can even do one to open stacks of bags and such. you just cant have it so it works like a full bot program. music instruments, emotes, etc are safe. if it plays the game for you like multi skill actions then youre not safe.
incorrect information… it’s explicatively okay with music instruments as their official stance, you can even script and have it be fully automated because it does not affect gameplay, one for opening stacks of bags is not legal as far as I’m aware, as for emotes, you really have to be careful with these things if you don’t have an official stance on the subject, the only thing they’ve allowed macros and automation scripts for is instruments.
Consistent content updates. Well . . . it used to have them. . . .
it still does… check updates page and we never go a month without any sort of big update, often we can get 2 in a month.
for me… if wow didn’t have a subscription fee, I’d play it a bit, it has that loot grind that gw2 lacks, and a few mini games and of course better dungeons, but for everything else gw2… gw2 has a unique mechanic no other mmo has that really was the driving point for me starting out, the fact your level scales lower to any zone you’re in and you can get your level equipment (at a 50% chance), this allows you to explore at your own pace, and really, gw2 is the pinnacle of sandbox mmo, that’s just one of the big points for it but there’s also the fact that you can transform into practically any npc in the game (and even use emotes as them), you can have access to bank/trading post/merchants from anywhere in the world at any time (though in case of merch/tp only one at a time unless using the non-infinite versions), you can autoloot so you can just keep going with the action, glide around and there’s just so many ways to play now, and the free content updates are so massive that it’s a driving force to keep playing!
also musical harp and the fact you can use gold into the real money currency makes it a purely pay once to play type model if you want it to be (though I’ve splurged quite a bit XD)
not to mention this game has the best economy of any game I have ever played. EVER. know what a standard rare cost 4 years ago? 30 silver. how much does it cost today? 30 silver. you don’t get many games where the value of an item doesn’t exponentially drop with supply or raise with inflation very often, even most of the tier 6 materials are largely the same price, just a few silvers difference, you can actually learn and play the market reliably and make lots of money doing that while you do other things.

When I was new I didn’t know what to pick as a main so I chose Warrior because “you can’t go wrong with the profession that has the highest base def and hp”. It was my biggest mistake because I didn’t truly enjoy Warrior but I didn’t want to level up again (it was slow as a newbie) so I got bored and I quit for months.
Later I came back and leveled some characters to 80 with the help of EotM and now I’m a happy Necro main!
pfff. I thoroughly research each class of a game before I pick my first main because I intend to play them the longest.. I chose right, Mesmer has over a thousand hours more next to my next most-played class.
in the beginning I actually stuck around queensdale and leveled my char almost exclusively there, I visited kessex and gendarran a bit but had no motive to explore really since I liked the atmosphere of queensdale and there were always people around (think, pre megaserver, big server but there weren’t many people in other maps.) then the champ update came and I rolled with the queensdale champ train for the rest of my days til lv 80. (actually to be fair i got lvl 80 thru crafting starting at level 62 with the help of my first major guild)
This would be a nice feature. Especially when 3 other commanders show up on the map with the same color tag.
if you’re following your commander you can tick all other commander tags off (same if you’re commander leader) there’s no reason for this.
Pay 2 Win is paying for an advantage over others.
What you describe is Pay 2 Progress faster.
and it’s not really faster at all because by the time you’re level 80 you can already afford all the high end (exotic) gear you need for your character.
3510 hours, 1429 days. Never had a precursor drop from random mobs or any other drop source. I don’t do random Forging so no chance of getting one there either. No interest in making legendaries myself, so I’ve actually never owned a precursor in any form.
Off the top of my head, the best drop I’ve ever gotten in my entire playtime in this game was one of the exclusive Toxic dyes which I got from a dye pack which dropped from a Black Lion chest (the key came from a story mission IIRC).
and if we’re talking best drops, in my 1500~ hours my best drop was a bank contract from the black lion chest which at the time was worth as much as any legendary (saw chances to get contracts tripled for a week so i bought 2 keys and got it, lol.) I must be crazy because I bound it… it’s actually one of the more useful items I got having an extended inventory… so 1 precursor<dusk> and 1 contract<bank> within1500 hours, also 1 key drop from a bandit in queensdale..
struggling with the production of cosmetic items? this game already has more cosmetic choices than most other games I’ve played, it might even have the most aside from games where you can import custom things
crafted 1 dusk w/ 3 exotic shields and 1 mystic forge stone.
Last night a hacker socially engineered one of our CS agents to gain control of Gaile’s account, and accessed GW1 using it. Gaile of course has two-factor auth on her account, and despite the social engineering, the two-factor auth worked and protected her, so the hacker had no access to her forum or GW2 accounts. Only GW1 pre-dates our 2FA/SMS system.
To socially engineer the CS agent, the hacker provided a variety of personal details about Gaile. But we don’t accept personal details as primary proof of account ownership. We require things like verifying billing info, two-factor auth, access to the account’s primary phone number, or access to its primary IP address in cases where IP address ownership is clearly established. When we can’t verify, we decline access, knowing that incorrectly declining is an unfortunate but better outcome than incorrectly granting access. These are all established and documented policies. We have a great team of customer support agents who follow these policies, and the hacker tried a bunch of times and found one agent who didn’t.
We want to protect all accounts as much as we want to protect our own. Some of you were particularly concerned about the impact to the game of hacking a GM account. You should know that we don’t give GM accounts or any accounts the ability to cheat progress, synthesize items, or manipulate the game’s economy. We play the game the same way you play the game. The hacker was able to use Gaile’s GM access to manipulate guild trims, but mostly he handed out Gaile’s personal items that she had collected from years of playing GW1.
We take your account security seriously and will continue to do everything we can to ensure that our support team consistently applies this security policy and prioritizes protecting you from account hackers.
Mo
I think you should log multiple attempts at trying to access one account personally… especially if that person was denied access each time! I’m not saying your system is flawed, or there’s some magic band-aid fix all but things like this shouldn’t happen even if they do contact support multiple times, notes should be placed to be wary of that person… and especially for someone like a CM or GM of the game extra steps should be taken to secure their profile…
is this a thing yet? or is it still for a future update?
I don’t understand why anet are not filtering that URL in chat. Sure, the sellers would just find another way to display it but then you block that as well. Eventually the URL becomes relatively difficult to decipher and looks more and more amateurish. That reduce the take up.
I’ve seen it in another game where the spammers had to say stuff like:
\/\/\/\/\/\/ (d ot) etc. to get through the filter. You could still read the URL but you had to put in a bit more effort. It’s cat and mouse and you never completely eradicate it but at least make the spammers work for their $$$.
you start doing stuff like this it makes it exponentially harder to post legitimate links, and if you start blacklisting certain link combinations it’d take too long since they’ll just set up a new site that’s exactly the same as the old.
It would be an odd decision to salvage everything below exotic with the same salvage tool.
This..
I wouldn’t want to accidentally salvage rares with a basic kit, or salvage junk with a mystic kit.I am starting to want a salvage all exotics ( for example with a blsk) however.
And a “sell all minor runes/sigils” to the vendor.. but mystic forge conduit has me covered in a pinch there.
not only that but personal merchant express. just summon merch and sell ur minors.
people use VR to play VR-enabled games… a few will go through the trouble of playing it on unsupported games, but that doesn’t mean that games it works well on should be supported for that… playing in VR is detrimental since you’d most likely be doing it in first person meaning you’ll be less effective in raids and such
Hi all, back after a long rest. I’ve really been enjoying the dailies on my Mes, helping with jump puzzles, etc.. Question, I occasionally need to teleport using a stone to help players (I help them along on JP’s and sometimes they get into a jam) and I am running low. How can I replace them? I read about 3rd bday, and wedding packs. But I’m past the 3 year mark, and I didn’t see any wedding packs on the gem shop. Is there a way I’ve missed?
Have you considered letting them use their Teleport to Friend stone instead of you using yours? You’re helping them out so why not let them deplete their supplies? Just a thought.
echoing this sentiment, I only use the stones if I’m gonna pop at the end of a jp/at a world boss/a location on the map i don’t have yet/etc.
i’d love to see queen’s gauntlet back, not so much for the gauntlet but the legendary runs, those were fun, got tons of people together to chain take out tons of legendaries and everyone was rewarded nicely
Try filtering before salvaging. For example, type req in the search box (or start typing the letters for fine or masterwork until it’s filtered. req is short for requires level X). That will have only salvageable items appear (no junk, mats, etc). If you start salvaging at top left, the items will move into the spot under your mouse as you salvage until you’ve salvaged all.
Edit: useful thread on the subject. Faster inventory management using search filters
hm; didn’t know you could filter by quality, so that’s good to know, thanks.
A new optical mouse is $5-10. I have a tile floor in my gaming area, and tile floors aren’t kind to plastic mice when you drop them.
I don’t have any disposable income right now or for a while, barely getting by so my mouse scroll wheel breaking on my main and spare mouse @ same time seriously sucks.
It’s not an oversight. It’s cancelled when you click ANYWHERE that isnt a valid salvage target.
but it is faster to use a scroll bar to get to the bottom of a long inventory than scrolling, besides should dragging really be considered clicking? iunno, first game I’ve seen that doesn’t let you scroll if you have a targeting thing.
Don’t cancel salvage kit usage when attempting to drag the scroll bar on the side of the inventory down… that’s my suggestion… See, I have a broken scroll wheel on all of mice (which is a pretty big issue that’ll cause me to get a new mouse in a couple months) but I think it’s a pretty big oversight that salvage kit usage is cancelled when you attempt to drag the scroll bar.
Even if you buy gems with RL money, you still have to “grind”, ie do some work in RL to earn the RL money.
Whether you are grinding in RL or grinding in the game , what does it matter? That’s silly. A lot of people have full time jobs that we work at to earn money we use for all sorts of purposes. Some of that money, after expenses, is disposable income.
If I want to buy gems I use that disposable income to do so, I don’t decide to buy gems then go out and work for a bit to get the €10 for those gems.
eh? speak for yourself, I can go out, work any time, come back with some disposable income, even at 2 in the morning.
They’ve added super casual content with the Krytan bandits bounties, and the leyline events.
yep, if you have specific ideas for content then post them and if they’re highly rated they could be looked at… but as far as “casual” goes, the ENTIRE core game caters to the casual crowd while the expansion caters to the hardcore, and there’s tons, as a “casual” you should have plenty of drive to go and forge a legendary or something, in the time it takes a casual player to make a legendary you’ll have plenty of new content.
gold to gems is a gold sink to begin with, and gems to gold is buying gold that people have put on the gem exchange, there’s no reason to ever drop it or modify it. it’s based on supply and demand.
some junk is useful for turning into events/etc, and salvagable stuff can return such a wide variety of items that you’d need some 3-4* the amount of inventory space for each item you salvage in your inventory.
It is simple, we can always do a game wide poll to determine if reset timing should be revert back the old.
For me simple, I am fighting for the people who have constraint due to their hell working shift.
Honestly speaking, I don’t see how the current reset timing is benefiting anyone currently.
Some people work nights. Daily reset really hurts them. Should it be adjust to the mornings to cater to them?
Because as soon as it get changed or the announcement comes, there will be people saying “Don’t like, doesn’t work for me. Don’t change it, it’s perfect for my schedule as it is now.”
What puts your group of people ahead of those in who gets the final say in when resets occur?
The reason of “the time is inconvenient or problematic for a group of people” is not a good reason to change the timing of anything. Because there will always be a group of people the time is inconvenient for or problematic for.
everyone does different things for a living, I’m a NEET who plays whenever, tons of people who play games are like that too, so there’s no good reason to switch it back when it’s already been changed and people are adjusted.
so as this post says, there’s no GOOD reason to switch it just because a certain group of people are inconvenienced unless that group is the majority of people who play.
get a mystic forge conduit, and use your karma exchange item from exotic hunter achievement atleast once a day coupled with buying right now max oldgate gloves forging salvage sell.
also pact networks. they have PLENTY of uses.
yeah this is definitely a bug, I’m not sure what causes it but sometimes you can enter/exit the bubble, seems completely random, I’ll be chasing bandit executioner and realize I’ve left the bubble and can’t get back in, or trying to fall back while he’s outside of the bubble and being pushed back out, but then certain spots will let me back in sometimes.
The way I read it I believe you are supposed to be stuck inside of the bubble that appears? it’s freely able to be left and entered by anyone.
so you actually need to play to get gift of battle, whodatunk it? achievement checks give you so many badges you could easily get that, or a commander tag like I did way back just off chests… this was a needed change imo, make people play for the much higher end stuff like legendaries, all part of the journey.
youtube videos != popularity, there’s plenty of people, maps are still full, world boss maps are still as lively as ever… hardcore players don’t put videos up most of the time, those are just personalities who do it for the ad revenue, has nothing to do with game state.
I bought medium armor karma shoulders that were around level 24 or so? they forged into light armor when merged together every single time… should’ve formed medium armor.
just get mystic forge conduit and permanent bank access contract and you have what you’re asking for. sort of. you need to withdraw from bank to inventory first.
the way I see it, it’s primarily meant for the user, with the bonus of being able to share it en masse (triple shot has a huge cooldown) I don’t see this happening, otherwise just one person needs to have an old character age and you could share it around; there’s a reason why things like permanent merchants and the like are only usable by the creator.
- Why do we have to handle materials manually? The deposit all option is nice but is hidden behind a dropdown. Just send them straight to the bank. At least provide a toggle for this.
honestly, the only reason I’d agree with this is because I have a permanent bank contract, but I’d like all materials to instantly go to the bank, thing is I don’t see something like this happening…. then again, we do have autoloot now.
Could we possibly have a “Salvage All” button like what Diablo 3 has somehow? You click it and you can determine what rarity type that you wish do a complete salvage on so you can get through your hard earned loot faster, with a warning that pops out which says that salvaged items will be gone forever if that’s necessary. It would be easy on the finger if this can be accomplished somehow, especially when one would have to go through hundreds of greens and blues after farming in Silverwaste or the new maps. Any chances that this could be worked on? P-pretty please?
too many variables, you’d need to basically have atleast five times as much inventory space as current items in your inventory, incase you get insignia + sigil + material + ecto + dark matter, it would not work out. in diablo you always get the same materials, not here.
playing the market and earning oodles of gold then spending that gold on black lion keys and rinsing and repeating.
Most of this price increase revolves around players that are pushing the value up due to the players willingness to pay more. If players are willing to pay more for an item, it’s going to keep increasing until eventually it hits a ceiling for the commodity. We’ve seen the same thing occur with numerous commodities over time.
Right now there is a consistent supply of mystic coins entering the game (way more than are being consumed) and churning through the trading post at a very slow rate. Most of the coins on the market are ones that have been flipped.
In retrospect, this is actually causing the daily login reward to be worth significantly more to players who wish to convert mystic coins to gold.
Chris, the economy is getting out of hand. Casual players like myself are being left behind, unable to fully enjoy game content. You NEED to consider all players, not just full timers playing 4-8 hours a day. Casual players want to craft stuff too. Casual players want to get into fractals and Raids too. I cant earn enough gold to enjoy this game anymore.
This is the only game I’ve ever played that made me feel bad when I play I ‘feel’ poor which is a horrible feeling. Too much pressure to earn gold. I feel a pressure to grind gold 6 out 7 days a week. I cant “earn” anything. I can only grind gold and buy materials at inflated prices. Guild Wars 2 feels like work now. Actually, its worse than real work cause I get nothing tangible like money. Arena Net’s screwing around with drop rates and recipes has been a disaster for casual and new player. I don’t have hope either. I dont think I’ll be logging in anymore. Womp Womp.
if casual players want to craft legendaries, you have the legendary journies, this game is the most casual friendly mmo I’ve ever seen, you don’t NEED all the super high level stuff to progress, you can do fractals in all rare/masterwork for the first 20 levels if you want, what point are you trying to get across? the drop rates for the super rare and epic stuff need to be low so that there’s an incentive for the people who play more often.
In retrospect, this is actually causing the daily login reward to be worth significantly more to players who wish to convert mystic coins to gold.
Or annoyingly expensive for those wanting to use them in order to reach specific goals. Just a matter of perception really.
I wonder them not being consumed having to do anything with not having enough, rising prices
and perceived scarcity.Stupid flipping players. :p
clearly it’s not “annoyingly” expensive if people are willing to pay that price, in a player market the prices are controlled by the players, so if players are willing to pay an arm and a leg, people will put it up for that much. one person not buying won’t stop the other people with excess gold from buying them up.
Doesn’t reflect the fact many people are in DR,Grove, BC or Hoelbrak to escape LA loading times, or using airship passes, or the DR whatever thingy, or are completely selfsufficient on their own (having perma contracts, portable MF and so on and never have to return to cities)
The playerbase is now also spread between event maps and the world. a lot of ppl doing instanced content (RAIDS, FRACTALS, DUNGEONS again).
I think an answer could be found in these.
Oh and GW2 sold 5M copies ore so and HoT 400k. but you can play finer on gw2 vanilla.
I fit all of those categories, XD.
I have portable mf, perma merchant, perma trading post and tp to DR for all things at once when I want to do my selling stuff/about to get off (royal terrace pass), so I never go to the main cities unless I’m entering fractals of the mist, and even then I’ll only be at the mist gate for a moment since I probably already joined a party before going there.
the playerbase is a lot bigger than it used to be before megaserver still which is all I care about, no matter where you are in the world you’ll run into someone… before megaserver so many maps were empty, but now every map is atleast half full at all times from my experience.
The performance of HoT was not as expected. We learnt the lesson.
This part is what I found most intriguing. What lesson did they learn?
honestly I’m not sure what there is to learn, HoT was everything I wanted…. granted, it was mostly the free stuff that came along with it like action cam, but I can’t imagine the game without autoloot, and raiding is fun and engaging, and the HoT area as a whole is great, the new classes and elite specs are super fun, not sure what people don’t like about it… but if they intend to do even more for the next expac, all the more power to them!
Please. Even in the thread where a Dev made a statement it came out vague. In that thread, and others, people are insisting that his first statement means that AFK farming is not only legal, but “as intended”. They ignore the second statement.
People are insisting it is legal. Word is getting around I guess, I am now seeing groups of them in Frostgorge in certain spots. Immobile for hours, heal on the cooldown timer (enemy around or not), killing and mastery looting.
Please make a CLEAR statement. Please, and not hide this in a merged thread.
“AFK” farming with macros and scripts and the like is NOT ok, afk farming as a ranger and sitting somewhere with your pet killing things as they spawn IS ok, because that is a game mechanic, + how can you not prove that person didn’t have to legitimately go afk at that time, it’d be a whole debacle if you started banning people because they go afk in the middle of a spawn area and they’re a ranger.
Has anyone noticed that gw2 seems to rely much more on the CPU than the GPU? Are you noticing a lack of multi-core utilization? Wish gw2 could run a bit better? There is an answer to these questions…
Vote for DirectX12 support!
Too long has gw2 been confined to the ancient limitations of dx9. It is time to make your voice heard! If ANET were to rewrite gw2 in dx12, we would see massive performance gains! Why confine the game to a single core when we can use all the cores? Dx12 has massive gains over dx11, imagine what the gain over dx9 would be!
I want to see the marvelous world that ANET has sculpted better than ever before. I want to be able to use the full power of my system to make it sharp as it can be.
Are you with me?
it would take a complete engine rewrite for this… they’d sooner release guild wars 3 than do that, imo.
whenever you have more options, you’re always going to be more viable, if you don’t own the expansion then how are you even posting here, unless you bought core years ago… in which case you had plenty of time to save up for expac.
i dunno, your asuran seems to think that’s the most advanced thing they’ve ever seen, did you see that big wide-eyed expression?
people still use raptr? lmfao.
Later I came back and leveled some characters to 80 with the help of EotM and now I’m a happy Necro main!
