just not as fleshed out as on land combat, it could be so much more, and with all these feature patches that convenience land combat nothing really ever changes with UW combat, it’s still the same as it was in the beginning.
grinding isn’t efficient, playing the market is. if you insist on grinding, do HoT meta’s and silverwaste metas/high level fractals.
We accidentally shipped a MF change that has some rare items like Halloween skins in the tables. So this is WAI just earlier than expected
just wondering, is it going to stay like this? I’d like to try my hand at getting ghastly grinning shield and chain sword/destroyer scythe
Just to note, if you mean the Chain-Whip Sword, that is a Gem Store only item so I highly doubt that is included in the new mystic forge rare skin/item drop tables.
Regarding the rest of your question, my impression of these items persisting in the drop table is that it is likely a permanent addition. However, I expect these newly added items are likely to vary over time, such as other item sets being added and some currently added items being removed – similar to the black lion weapon skins rotating in and out of BL chests and certain sets being available or not available at the BL merchant. May be wrong, but that is my impression of how they seem to have implemented this behavior of such rare items being in the drop table.
found my answer in another thread, they pulled “most” of the changes, and will reintroduce them later in a big mystic forge update
So.. the 3k gold I spent on a Greatsaw a couple months ago was a waste…. :/ Sold an Eternity for it.
Never again am I buying any skin worth more than 100g now.
if it wasn’t clear that it was going to return someday.. you know like how chaos skins just returned and aetherized skins? you buy a skin because you want it, if you like the look of it then good for you, you should be buying skins because they fit a theme of your character, if it was worth 3000g to you then, then nothing changed now.
you can buy legendaries off the trading post, the mystic forge is luck based, if you don’t have good luck (and no I don’t mean the stat) then you’re not ever going to find 77 clovers, no matter how many times you do the recipe.
Hell, don’t worry about it, the way prices are going just buy one off the Trading Post and save yourself the grief….:)
nah… I crafted a dusk with 3 exotic shields and a mf stone, luck is a goddess, and I shall believe in her.
and why not give a consume all to bags too? they need to draw a borderline somewhere… they decided to just do it with essences, which is fine imo, have you ever salvaged hundreds of ectos
Question about the bloodbound stuff, does that mean that their old acquisition method got retired with the quarterly patch?
I honestly didn’t pay much attention to them., because I never figured they were worth the time investment using the old system, if the weapons had been cooler I think the system itself was nice though (I mean conceptually).
no, this is just a new method to get them.
Over 800g (~1.2k staves) into the forge and nothing.
The drop rates on these are abysmal.
did you read? they pulled the changes, you won’t get it.
We accidentally shipped a MF change that has some rare items like Halloween skins in the tables. So this is WAI just earlier than expected

Well, this was partly owing to the fact that there was no reason to run high level fractals in the past (besides Swamptals of the Mists).
The pendulum was swung very hard towards low levels for a while, and now it seems it has swing really hard towards the high levels. ArenaNet can’t seem to find a happy medium (IE a daily using all 4 tiers).
and should it not be balanced for higher tiers? you need a reason to do higher, lower levels should just be tutorials.
Medium armor masterwork shoulders (haven’t tested others yet) are being treated as LIGHT armor, if you input 4 level 68-71 medium armor shoulders they will output 100% of the time light armor shoulders, should the output not be medium armor?
actually relatively cheap for a 5 ticket skin.
if you make account bound items tradable between accounts, there’s no point, defeats that entire purpose, and makes it so they get less sales overall with AB items.
if mobs in 1-15 zones are giving you trouble, you need to rethink your builds, unless you weren’t even trying at killing the mob, anyways, one of the major drives of the game is that EVERY AREA stays relevant regardless of level, a true open world adventure where you’re not confined to level 80 zones at max level.
No need for an 80 boost on the gemstore. It takes almost no real time to get 80 leveling scrolls.
5 pvp wins is no joke, and to do that 80 times? takes more time than u think, took me 1200 hours to get my 2nd lvl 80 thru just tomes.
I personally can’t stand the new chaos armor, it’s a lot harder to see and it doesn’t look all that great now to begin with, wish it’d get reverted
I’ll be happy to pay 800+ gems for it, I’ll be happy just with the level80 boost like we have gotten, but with no other content with it. Just a simple level 80 boost.
800 gems? it’d probably be 4000 gems. WoW sells 90 boost for $50, and that isn’t even max level.
they already said they won’t introduce a level 80 boost in gem store.
should be noted green dye doesn’t have profit, also there’s a site which using the api is always updated with latest prices for salvaging dyes and price you get back from them. (not sure if advertising sites is allowed here), and you can often times make 90-150% roi, I’ve used all my gold to 1g, and got back up to 300g in a day using dye salvaging.
Uh… no?
Representing still has meaning. Many players (including myself and I even run a guild) are part of multiple guilds because each different guild is for different things (PvE, WvW, roleplaying, and so on).
Repping or not, all the members in my guild still talk to eachother thanks to the shared guild chat system so communication is NOT an issue and they all still contribute and participate in our guild events and helping our guild hall grow.
Edit:
It looks like you just have a problem with members in your guild being interested in being in that guild. The repping feature has nothing to do with that.
+1
You need to make your guild more interesting… I’m part of one of the biggest dragonbrand guilds and we’re always active, have things to do and tons of reasons to rep solely this one guild.
Large deal. There were people at launch that crafted to 80 fast and then they added tomes and writs later. Most people eventually have multiple 80s. One instant 80 by this way instead of using tomes or crafting isn’t going to kill the game.
yep, I craft 80’d because mesmer leveling was super slow, and I had a guild back then to help with that kinda thing, then my 2nd 80 is solely tomes, my 3rd 80 now is this 80 boost, and my 4th 80 will probably be my ranger who is also mostly tomes.
In a new patch we are getting reward of 2 golds for a daily achievements, it is too much in my opinion, with 2golds per day, just from achievements, its like 730g / year. With that big income of thousand players it could harm gw2 economy really hard.
What do you feel about that ?
ya? 2g for 30 minutes of work… you know what I make in 30 mins playing the market? 60g… sure it’s not generating new gold but there’s so many gold sinks in the game it doesn’t matter.
maybe neither is bugged and that’s just how they intend it, things downscale for asurans, npc’s don’t have to follow logic.
This has been a problem for a while, but it was never really ‘too’ big of an issue, but now with the adventurer’s guild, someone’ll ask a question, when they receive their answer should they choose to leave you have to keep relisting your party over and over, and I’m assuming eventually you’ll be hit with the timeout… maybe either A. allow adventurer’s guild to be a squad-based party or B. make it so you can hold a party with 1 person?
2 Reasons——RNG says no you are never getting a precusor.

bad mistake, it’s not a reference to MLP, it’s a reference to Robot Unicorn Attack.
Just stop holding down the space bar, you only need to tap it in order to jump.
You were right, Zoltar. I’m getting “Learn to Play” responses now.
During my self imposed jump-training camp, I determined that the longer I hold the spacebar, the further I jump. (Or maybe it’s higher. Or both.)
It’s not a huge difference distance-wise from simply tapping, but I definitely do notice one. It’s the same as with simple ground movement. A quick tap of a movement key let’s you shuffle a few inches in one direction, but holding the same key down for a half second longer moves you a couple of feet.
There are jumps that I cannot make with a quick tap of the spacebar, and holding the spacebar down to lengthen my jump deploys my wings now, sending me soaring beyond my intended landing spot.
there… is no difference between tap to jump and hold to jump. the jump distance is always the same, so just tap.
you get more air on a vertical non running jump, so if you tap while standing still you’ll jump higher than tapping while running, that’s the only way for it to be different.
You do realize that dungeon selling runs and raid selling runs are allowed to be advertised on the LFG, right?
I’m not seeing the distinction. They’re all activities of offering your “services” in exchange for money.
One is trading, one is offering a run. you may not use LFG to post trades, you may use LFG to sell full dungeon runs/etc
I crafted a dusk from the mystic forge once….
Now I have a personal trading post, personal merchant, mystic forge conduit and a bottomless belcher’s bluff kit. Maybe next time I find a dusk…. except then I might have a personal bank contract.
It might be low on your list of priorities, but it’s all the way up high on my list of daily annoyances. My god man, if I can sell the first few things quickly, just let me sell the rest too, instead of having to wait 15 seconds between sales. I’m rather sure the few of us commenting aren’t the only people who get annoyed by it… We’re just annoyed enough to speak up about it. This is one of the main errors EVERYONE in the game has to deal with. Tiny, cute lil’ fish can still stink
TL;DR:
Kitten just fix it already q.q kitten. It’s not one of the main errors for EVERYONE. I have only encountered it twice in my 3.5 years of playing and I buy & sell every day. Lots of people will never encounter it.
Even if it did affect most people, we don’t know what the fix would involve. Suppose it required overhauling the entire TP queuing system, then fixing it would be an amount of work equivalent to adding a second TP in the game. That same work could go into building a wardrobe that works for runes|sigils and infusions or another couple of mastery tracks. If that’s the case, is fixing this particular issue really worth their time?
I’m sorry that this issue crops up and that people are slowed down by it. Interface issues are always the most annoying, since the UI should be about reducing the boring stuff and letting us focus on the fun. But there are always going to be more ideas of how to improve it than there are developers to go around.
if you’ve only encountered it twice then you haven’t traded much or you spend way too much time thinking about what price you want to set something at, any time I’m trying to sell 7 or more items at the same time it happens, in 3.5 years I’ve had it happen usually atleast once a day when I play, even when I sell stuff as I go.
No way to predict really. Some MMOs run on for 10+ years. I’ve never heard of or read anything to the effect that ArenaNet has set an expiration date for their game. I don’t think they’ve mentioned a GW3 even. It’s one of those “We’ll get there when we get there” kind of things.
but there is an expac 2 confirmed, so you’ve got that to look forward to after LWS3, so probably in 18 months or so I’d estimate, and, the way I see it, gw2 is easily the best mmo I’ve ever played, and there are plenty of mmo’s that’ve started in say 01-04 and still run today, as long as they keep doing what they’re doing I expect gw2 to last a very very long time.
with the microtransactions they have going, I’m sure the game is incredibly profitable, I’ve probably spent more on gw2 than any other single game… rivaling even dota 2 maybe.
Can’t afford a phone right now, just using landline (and landline doesn’t have ability to receive texts…) so any way to make the message popping up every time I log in disappear?
If they add this, it better be optional because map clutter is already high given the merchant icons, event radii, etc. I don’t have a problem with using the heart description text as my indicator of if I’ve gone out of the range of a heart.
But I understand that different people notice different things on quick glance, and you may notice things on the minimap a lot more than the text UI where the heart descriptions are.
Just as long as the color isn’t orange and is optional, I don’t have a problem with it being added one day in the future.
I always like more options, I never intended it to be mandatory but, I think it would help a lot of people imo.
as for the color; it’s kinda funny you mention that because when I was making the topic I was thinking orange, anything wrong with orange? :P… I do like how fo4 lets you customize the ui how you like though, maybe you could choose different colors because some colors would clash with some regions.
That might be handy. On the other hand you can always tell if you’re in heart range — even before you finish exploring to the heart — because when you are there is a UI entry in the upper right listing the tasks that will fill that heart, and you get a bwomp sound when that activates. If you step out of bounds, the UI entry vanishes.
hm; yeah, that helps. still, there’s no universal “heart is here, this is radius” type thing, some hearts all around the radius you’ll have quest, others, you can be right near it but still need to go further to get quest, etc.
often times a heart quest can span way further than you think but you don’t explore too much because you think you’ll end up out of the heart quest range or, you’re fighting and you step outside and don’t realize it and lose a bunch of credit since you can’t tell where the radius ends… I think it’d be great if there was some map overlay indication of how big the radius of a heart quest is.
agree looks like someone is duping the shield and greatsaw greatsword skin, always someone dumping like 50 of them in 3 sec.
not duping, there was a time it was cheap, you could buy many and hold onto them. it is standard market manipulation.
minor sigils may be junk but not major by any stretch of the imagination for other junk visit any vendor or use merchant express and sell junk,
Yay more content aimed at a small percentage of the player base.
people who play the most are always gonna be hardcore sect, gotta give them reasons to keep playing.
Dragon mounts. Because who doesn’t want to get on the back of something bent on destroying your civilization and go way high up in the air where it can eat you at leisure?
Dragonhunter will become Dragontamer and you’ll be able to tame an elder dragon for your own devious plot of taking ove- er I mean, flying across Tyria.
@simplesimon: there is a distinction being made as to what is mechanically possible, and what is allowed by policy. He is saying that mechanically mixing pet killing + mastery looting is fine… he’s not saying that afk farming is fine.
If you interpret it differently I can understand that… but I don’t think it’s worth risking one’s account over.

Did you look at his second post? https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Ranger-Pet-Botting/page/3#post6093187 In which he agrees that the pets are working as intended but afk farming using the pet mechanic is not ok.
I don’t see how there is a misunderstanding on this? Or is there some other communication issue here between us?
They will not punish those doing this. It is allowed as far as they care. This could change, and should, but for now it is completely allowed, direct from his typing.
Tl;dr intentional mechanics that allow pet kills to give experience and loot =/= permission to afk farm.
This is absolutely correct.
If your pets are doing the killing and your mastery is doing the looting; you’re okay as far as GMs are concerned. This does not mean design can’t/won’t/should/shouldn’t update the system as it works today.
That is explicitly saying that pet kills, mastery loots, you are fine. There is nothing being said that you need to be at the computer responding. But it can, and is, being used to AFK farm, and they don’t intend to action it (and from what I’ve seen in the past from release to recently, is they haven’t taken action on it before, either).
This is of course not botting.
seems like it’d be a hard thing to action against, if someone comes up while I’m on my ranger and I think I’ll only be gone a minute I could leave, but then an hour could pass or something similar where I’m not able to get back to the computer; how exactly do you action against that?
Like define “reasonable”? Or what the GW2 teams idea of “reasonable” is? Since it’s pretty clear when it comes to the cost of materials and grinding, “reasonable” is very a subjective and broad adjective.
Like is “reasonable” going to be something personally obtainable by a single individual who hasn’t been stockpiling tons of materials and gold since the dawn of GW2? Is “reasonable” obtainable without the help of an entire guild of people if you don’t all into the former category?
Because if “reasonable” is according to the same standards you have applied to everything else in HoT where players are being treated like hamsters in a wheel, endlessly grinding massive amounts of materials for little reward, because economic stimulation is priority one and player’s actual enjoyment is second, then “reasonable” is pretty debatable.
At the end of the day, you have a personal crafting profession that is intended mostly for the benefit of the entire guild, but also contains a small percentage of personal items. This crafting profession currently requires the help of an entire guild to complete and the results of that guild’s time and material investment are not owned by the guild. A player can quit the game, leave the guild or use their crafting profession to help other guilds, all three creating scenarios ripe for drama and hostility when the original guild who helped them loses out on their investment.
It seems to me the scribe profession is way more broken and controversial than just making prices more “reasonable” can fix.
I’d like to chime in and say scribe is a guild profession, not meant for materials to be gathered by a single person, you are supposed to ask the guild for help. it sounds like you don’t have a very good group of people in your guilds if you’re thinking about them leaving/quitting, sure things happen, but if you have a big organized guild there’ll always be someone to take their place.
windowed fullscreen is causing tons of lag for me… but going to fullscreen is fine… but it’s an issue because i alt tab this game a lot, and alt tabbing from full screen takes a lot longer. not sure if same issue, but I do use nvidia drivers and windowless fullscreen is causing issues.
so I actually fixed it by going full screen… the update or drivers broke windowless fullscreen (which sux because have to alt tab a ton…)
I too was suffering from lag but I just found out over 3 different people had hacked my account. Yay. They are still doing it. I have an AMD.
What does that have to do with anything.?
don’t think it has any relevance.
Same problem here. Started after the patch and rolling back on the Nvidia drivers din`t work and i don`t have any problems in any other games at all.
Every time i use wp or change zones, my fps drops to 10-5. some times it helps to hop out in Windows, but most of the time i have to shut down GW2 and start it again and that is not funny when doing meta events
atleast you have periods of playability… as soon as I load the game its awfully low fps… really wish they’d acknowledge this, this is seriously the only game with this issue I have right now, playing fallout 4 like a dream.
wondering if newest update fixes this
GW2, Path of Exile, Blade and Soul were the only games I’ve played recently.
Also there has been an official statement on their latest driver having issues.
the latest, non beta, yeah, which is why they released beta… path of exile works perfectly fine for me too, the fact gw2 is the absolute only game with issues makes me not want to redownload drivers and wait for an official statement from anet/nvidia
I’m getting this when I view the Hero Panel / PvP panel. For some reason the game is running fine, but as soon as I open one of those panels my game goes down to 6-15 FPS for quite a long time. Closing the panel doesn’t fix it.
Turns out the latest NVidia driver is a bit buggy. Rolled back and it’s fine now.
I have no issues on ANY other game, and whether buggy or not, it takes me hours just to download the driver updates… if that is the issue, when do you think they’ll update it to be functional again?
I’ve been experiencing the issue on all games I’ve been playing, the GPU just stops boosting power. I’ve rolled back to the 362 driver and it’s working nicely now
mind posting some example of games which have issues? gw2 is the only game that has any issues for me with this driver right now.
