I launched gw2 to find that there are over 300k files remaining, i checked the folder itself and only 110 mb of my gw2 was left, what happened?! my internet is only 2 mb/s (250kb/s download) right now… and this is insane…. what’s done is done but I’m wondering what in the heck could’ve happened?!
I was playing fine even up until yesterday (though the game kept rechecking its game files and re-verifying after a crash 2 days ago..)
I expect ANet can tell exactly what percent of players have maxed out luck and can tell if it’s many or only a small percent. When they see many have maxed luck, then they’ll know it’s time to make a luck eater.
yeah, I dunno, I’ve been playing since launch and only have just over 100% magic find, nowhere near the 300% cap yet.
still, I support further uses for things that become useless over time.
@Agemnon, then blues and greens become useless again, luck essence will always be bought before them, which, even if blues and greens keep the same price they do now, they sell a lot slower because people will buy stacks of luck essence before the blues/greens.
@Zoltar, just use twisted watchwork portal device.
Vote kick can’t be used in the event of battle in the first place, or within a time post any boss fight.
With the core game going F2P now, I would really love to see a method of filtering messages out so you never see them in the first place. Removing the barrier to entry means that PvP will very likely become a lot more toxic from teammates.
you can filter whispers out entirely; unless you mean like a word filter system akin to anarchy online where if any of the words are said the entire message is removed from your view.
as for whisper privacy, sort of concerned with all the f2p players, since they’re gonna have /say chat anyways, wondering if we’ll ever get any way to disable whispers from non mutual friends/guild mates/squadmates/party mates/team mates/etc? don’t wanna be spammed with any more gold spam than there already is
all the servers are located in the same area… maybe you should try EU server
No…. Laurels are part of an economy currency, getting laurels on every new account would mean an influx of materials on the market and all that. There are other methods to getting ascended accessories, by DROPS in pvp/fractals/wvw/champs. The devs still need to make money some how, giving everything to free players is not in that spirit. Think of login rewards as veteran loyalty bonuses.
to the guy who says the only way to get ascended amulets is laurels, check silverwastes.
I explain the problem many of us have with F2P here
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/IGN-Tweet-Core-Game-F2P-what-does-this-mean-unconfirmed/5427635We aren’t haters. We love the game and we’ve seen how much damage F2P can wreak on a game and its community. I am encouraged by the restrictions placed on the free accounts, but my points still stand.
I’m a long time player, and FTP is amazing for this game, this game is about player numbers and community, now maps should be more filled.
nononono, pls don’t disable best item in the game,
oh. it’s only for free to play players?
I literally spend a whole bunch of time mass crafting these and then using them when I just want to do random content. lol.
revenant centaur stance does NOT waste healing power at all.
- Every class in this game has already either had permanent swiftness since launch or complained enough to get it by now. It’s effortless to maintain.
- The game is also already bloated with multiple “Move 25% faster” modifiers for every class (runes, signets, traits), which dilutes the effect of having swiftness on a player even further because of how little it actually increases the player’s base movement speed at that point.
- GW2’s movement speed in and out of combat is already more sluggish than the ice caps; having swiftness doesn’t make the player all that much faster because there isn’t even that much to fundamentally increase. This is not open to anecdotal comparisons like “But if I have swiftness on, I’m noticeably faster than someone who doesn’t have swiftness even in combat! It’s totally noticeable!” Of course you are. You’re moving 33% faster than that guy. However, 133% base movement speed in GW2 is still incredibly slow in general, especially when one considers how fast damage/CC travels in this game.
- If someone really wants to “move” quickly for whatever reason, that person will use a scripted movement ability or a teleport. Not only are those re-positioning abilities not actually real movement (because the server is doing the vast majority of the work for the player in that case), but it also calls into question the point of swiftness at all if it’s only viable gameplay purpose is making a player move just slightly faster from non-combat point A to non-combat point B.
- Players already have loads of other boons to corrupt/steal.
So why does swiftness exist again? Why is player speed not just the current 133% at all times with bursts of “super speed” (such an awful name) being the actual “player movement speed increase buff” in the game? At least a player can actually see a drastic effect on movement speed while under the effects of super speed while in combat (since it’s worthless outside of combat due to the global player movement speed cap).
you do realize shiro has super quickness which is over 200% base speed, right? swiftness is a convenient way to travel, you can sacrifice speed for power, or you can go full on super swiftness and get the hell out of there/in there. and movement speed isn’t useless… when I’m on my engi and drink a speed pot I definitely notice a speed boost to get where I’m going.
Sorry but in my opinion the SB upgrade is just a pain. There is nothing fun about going out and killing 13 portals every 15 secs to just be able and attack the boss.
yeaaaah makes it a bit tedious,
this thread wasn’t very well thought out for balance @OP either, just seems to be his personal suggestions.
The random blowback from inquest golem DOES infact hamper the position, it requires strategic timing of when to cast aoe stability, most people are aware of this, so engis equip aoe stability/anyone else who can cast stability on aoe does so.
people are greedy. Most of the people posting all the super expensive stuff on the TP already have plenty of gold…. but they want more. (but why?) So that they can buy more stuff and sell for even higher and hoard even more gold. etc. etc.
people are greedy.
If someone is willing to pay that price, they will list for that price, Supply and demand, plenty of sites track what items are selling for, so you can generally guesstimate what someone will pay for a certain given item. If I had an item that was valued at 890g such as electro dye, and people HAVE paid that much for it before, you bet your kitten I’m going to list it for that price, else I’m going to undercut about 50g at a time until someone buys it.
You only get the rewards for each story instance once per character (excluding ascended trinkets, you only get one of each of those per account through the story instances).
aw; kay. thanks.
Do you get rewards each time you do the living story (same mission), for example, if I complete gates of maguuma, then come back do it later, do I still get the rewards at the end of each mission? (same character)
(edited by Xbon.9086)
I know they said that to discourage abuse/trolling with the mentor system, they removed in-game rewards. That’s because players that help other players are usually satisfied with just helping, which I agree, there are plenty of players that just like to help for the sake of helping (i.e. Me)
But the same could be the same for trolls/abusive players. They get a kick just from trolling other players, like leading them to the wrong end of a jumping puzzle or intentionally into a group of higher leveled mobs. There are plenty of players that will troll others and be satisfied without any rewards (i.e. Me on a boring day)
My question, how many of you guys would still use the mentoring system even knowing you won’t get a reward? Or how many friends do you know, who would abuse it regardless of in-game rewards?
I didn’t even know there was an in-game mentoring system?
Misread your first post seems. End of the week is hard, sorry for that ><
It’s no problem. I’ve done it many times before as well.
when I say unlucly accounts, you should know what I mean by that; rather, unlucky players, people can be unlucky, and what you explained in what I initially quoted is gambler’s fallacy, think if something has a 1/250 chance, by a simple formula you can see that the way to get 99% chance (should you not have had a drop yet) is about 1130~ tries, however, there is no way to get 100% chance, there’s a possibility that one person never gets something that is very common to others, those outliers should be fixed.
You can use your spirit shards to get Eldritch scrolls (at the MF). With those you can make all sorts of weapons and items that can be sold for gold.
Keep in mind though that the mats you need, like 250 vials of blood (highest tier) will take some time to farm as well. Just look at the wiki for eldritch scroll and look at the combinations for the mystic forge – no recipe needed.
And it’s not just leatherworking, it’s almost all the crafts that have some sort of use.
p.s. : some items are part of a collection too i believe.
you don’t need any skill to craft from the mystic forge, all eldritch scroll items are mystic forge, are they not?
it’s not likely to be as “fun” if they entirely remove RNG from the reward system.
For the “unlucky accounts” it would be much more fun without RNG.
Except that there aren’t any “unlucky” accounts; all accounts have the same chances. Play enough, you’ll get good drops and bad ones. If you don’t play often, then it hardly matters.
Luck does play a part. There is a chance of course, that one player could never have an equipment drop, or exotic, It wouldn’t matter how much you play, what you’re saying right now is gambler’s fallacy, there ARE unlucky accounts, and people do quit because of it.
No. This would be very bad. You’re also confusing speculation with general demand/supply.
Anet has decided to go with a player based economy, keeping little to no part in maintaining it, at which point it becomes supply and demand, these items are high price BECAUSE people will pay for them, when they don’t the price will lower, it should stay this way, capping prices because you don’t want to put money into the game specifically is outrageous, I still put money into the game to convert to gold to buy end-game items rather than spend a bunch of time.
As great as this game is, I’ve just never enjoyed playing a DPS class. Even the classes that are more on the “support” side are still not really enough to quench that thirst to be the one helping your allies.
Is there any possibility at all that they will add healing or tank roles and make combat in the game reflect on that?
PS. Ritualist when?!
The game is great because they don’t have healer and tank.
I prefer they stay as is, though i don’t mind if healing become more appealing, but tank is definite “NO” to me.
Never enjoy any combats that require a tank.
this so much, tank is just sit around in the front and mitigate damage and then healer just heals tank while dps fight, everyone should be viable in a fight and need to watch their resources and battle to their fullest, not just focusing on keeping the tank alive. Never enjoyed WoW because of that monotonous system.
Most good trinity games require the tank to execute good skill rotations to mitigate damage and hold hate/agro, the healer to manage mana and possibly prioritize who gets healed when, and for dps to kill the mob before the healer runs out of resources or the fight goes too long and some kind of enraged mechanic activates.
considering the playerbase of wow, is it not one of those “good trinity games” because if so, it’s the exact kind of thing I want to avoid, which is why gw2 is perfect.

If we’re still discussing this; the second concept sounds very good, I know that diablo 3 does it and it works out very well, if you haven’t had a legendary drop in 2 hours, the drop rate starts increasing until you find one (that’s two hours of active play). Of course… that is a game without a trading economy, I’m not too sure how it’d affect the economy but I really wouldn’t like to be that one receiving no rewards either.
They disabled ALL consumables to prevent some exploits and have been individually re-enabling certain consumables as needed.
If you think the Mystic Forge Conduit should be allowed, send in a bug report and they’ll review it.
may have sent one in already but I’m not sure. any way to check what bug reports we’ve sent in already?
i think it’s related to magic find applying to pvp containers.
…which affects mystic forge…. how?
It’s because there were exploits with certain consumables/infinite use items that lead to unintended effects like being able to stack 25 stacks of might by spamming a transformation potion or going invulnerable by watching a cutscene. ANet disabled the use of those items in arenas, but has been inconsistent with that in the pvp lobby.
Edit: I should clarify by saying they disabled those types of items across the board, likely as a preemptive fix to prevent any future consumables from creating the same effect.
what does this have to do with mystic forge? there’s no exploits I know of in mystic forge
What’s odd is that in sPvP lobby you also can’t open certain containers. The ones that you get from the PvP tracks are openable, but certain ones like the spirit shard bags for dailies and treasure bags that you obtain from chopping trees are unopenable there.
I also noticed once that I was completely unable to change wardrobe skins on a certain character. Not sure if that was a once-off bug or if that’s an unintentional player-wide bug.
sPvP lobby is convenient, but odd.
I think spirit shards are usable there now… but yeah before they weren’t… it’s a wonder why some things are usable and some aren’t…
not working in spvp? this would be an ultimate level convenience, as it is now I still have to leave spvp when I want to empty my inventory… I mean come on it even works in the middle of a fractal!
what makes even less sense is it works in the actual SPVP game, but not the lobby… wouldn’t it be distracting in lobby? or should I do all my forging pregame and not in lobby?
Why would you want one? I doubt anyone would buy it on the TP and they’re in no way superior to other rare equipment of the same type.
I wanted one to sell lol.
I m not just talking about gw2 but gw3 etc etc
you’ll still be able to run previous dx’s if they decide to upgrade, dx12 uses the hardware far more efficiently, and fps boosts of up to 75-150%, it would be in any devs best interest to develop for dx12, yes you have to get the updates, that’s GOOD, because it patches security holes.
I believe the OP is talking about items of this nature
https://www.gw2tp.com/item/37665-sword
They have a very low supply so they not just leftover code. The last one for sale for this item was in November 2014.
Yes, I am. however, I am wondering where to find/locate/craft these, is it possible through mystic forge?
19 character limit, 27 characters = 27^19 = 1570042899082081611640534563 = 1 × 10 ^ 27 possible names.
This math is useless, since a random string of characters is not, substantively, a “name.”
(This is not an endorsement of the OP.)
it is, all you need for a name is to be able to enter the game, I’d start entering random characters as soon as I figured out all the regular sounding stuff was unable to be used.
bags still cost the same amount they did at launch, 400 gems. as stated before… when dealing with gems the major point is the real money to gems.
Mostly from enemy mob drops. The chances of getting higher rarity drops increases if your magic find is higher. It will also depend on your level since you cannot get rare items below a certain level.
I’m talking about the basic ones, which only have 1-2 listings for them each, the ones aptly named “Sword” and nothing else with green/yellow name worth 40-80g each
as far as I know these are only obtainable at level 80
And what if they’re dead and have been inactive for 3 years?
I have taken seveal accounts worth of names on mmos I have zero intention of playing.
You can’t beat logic, letting dead accounts keep names is pandering to the wrong crowd entirely and makes no sense.
There is little excuse after a year, no excuse after two years of inactivity.
Also, we can’t diversify names much, even accented names are taken. You’re also forgeting that names are shared by ALL SERVERS including EU, WHICH IS INCREDIBLY BAD. Most mmos, that wipe names, do NOT share names across a population this large… and still wipe names.
Toxicity only uses 3-6 letter names that are not accented.
so you want to take away memorials to people who have died? that’s very rude. as stated before, a gm has stated that no valid name will ever be released back, unless the char is deleted of course, or rename contract.
trading post is full of these, for example if you search Sword, you see masterwork and rare version of basic swords… how do you even obtain these normally? mytic forge?
Is this a bug, or not? I was farming here for about 15 minutes when I realized that this is pretty odd behavior, never seen anywhere else in the game where hordes of mobs spawn endlessly for loot/farming
I don’t like SMS authentication because of the fact that if you ever lose the phone or change phone number, phone service goes out, etc, you have to contact support and are without your account, honestly I wish there was a way to lock the password and only have it changed via support if you can prove your identity (after you’ve been hacked/etc, since freely changing password on any site makes me kinda shaky, had my steam account stolen that way before way back.)
chests are worth in my opinion. you always get atleast 1 booster, most of these boosters worth more than the chest itself so in that regard, you always get your gems back in items, except it’s random which you get, when you’ve stockpiled a ton though you can then use the powder to turn them into any one you want in that class.
AND THEN on top of that, you have chance to make your gems back into gold or get one of the highly wanted permanent contracts! (still searching for a tp contract :P)
just always keep an eye on the currency exchange, always. sometimes there’s massive spikes where one or the other is really cheap, capitalize on those moments.
Map chat in world boss areas are always spammed with “is X up” (X being the world boss for that zone,) while they could just type /wiki world boss, a lot of them don’t take the time to do such a thing and it would honestly be more convenient for all, including much more convenient for casual playerbase if this was seeable somewhere from in-game, maybe even the dailies panel(as they’re dailies,)
Hello, if you purchased ULTIMATE, you get TWO Character slots, standard comes with 1, digital and above come with 2. hope that clears this up for you.
You missed the part where I said I was given a refund in exchange for 1 of the character slots. Thus, I should only get 1 extra and 1 beta slot, not 2 extra and 1 beta slot.
I did not miss that, you said you bought ultimate, you get TWO character slots, you can’t refund those chracter slots, they are part of the ultimate upgrade.
I don’t have crashes with GW2 reports often but I did get a couple a few days back. More recently I’ve gotten blue screens and graphic card crashes, only happening when I play GW2 and has gotten so bad today I can’t wvw at all for more then 10 minutes even not near fights.
just the other day I got a blue screen of death error, first one I got in over a year, that was whack. but I presumed it was because I was using the steam overlay while the game was loading and I was doing too much stuff at once or someth.
8GB RAM max, i5 would be just fine, and that GPU is way overkill.
If you’re going to college, get a small and light laptop that you can take around to classes. You’re going to find that you end up not carrying that 20lb brick everywhere after all because it’s just so bulky and heavy.
Most newer laptops should handle GW2 at decent quality with the integrated graphics, and you could always look to see if there’s a laptop you like that doesn’t have the top-of-the-line cards.
they make a backpack specifically for it, and I use it myself, the comp is only about 13-15 lb, really not that heavy at all.
what’s wrong with showing backpacks? :\ I love my wings personally.
OP is trying to prevent their potato from overcooking by keeping the heat on low, but believes it can be even lower by reducing unnecessary fuel.
Also I may be eating hash browns right now.
if ur char models are already on lowest, then ur only gonna be seeing like 5 ppl anyways, 5 wings really gonna hit you that hard?
remember; gambling is always supposed to be a net loss in almost anything, so don’t waste too much time on this. tbh, I’ve still yet to do it once though, don’t even know where the guy is, and don’t have that much gold to buy ectos with XD
there’ll be a point with HoT, you’ll have masteries that replace your level number for all others to see, as well as give you abilities to continue on in maguuma.
20 lvls is a bit much. maybe 10 levels so you get the gist of the drop system and how basic rng elements work, as well as a taste of the combat. 20 is 1/4 of the entire levels, unlike wow where 20 is 1/5.
The level cap was lower when the Starter Edition appeared; I think it may have been 85. Also, level 20 characters wouldn’t get to do a whole lot.
they get to do plenty at 20…. that’s two branches of the personal story, and 2-3 entire areas, (since you can easily manage 5+ levels above you,) you’d be able to travel to all the begineer areas complete all of those, and kessex hills and the likes ontop of that, 10 is all that needs to be done to stop abuse of that.
woah, Taxidriver, lay off man, Princ, 980m? you’re gonna be over 100 fps, easy. i74870 is great. I run is 4710 860m and get 60 fps in world boss/wvw situations on highest settings g750jm here, 120-150 fps regularly.
