Never have I agreed so much with people on a forum.

I would LOVE to use my rifle like a rifle instead of a shotgun. Being able to switch modes on our normal weapons would really have an engi feel to it. Like we have modified our weapon.

Iv also never been a fan of “This skill does a random effect!” kind of crap, Its stupid and games need to stop doing it.

Iv had so many arguments on /map when I talk about how much the flamethrower misses when moving. So glad to see others are aware enough to realize it too.
Also, I hate that the range is only like 450 but the flame graphic it self (on a charr) reaches out to like 800 or so.

Net Turret Use it you fools.

Would Like to point out the overdrive turret powers dont use the ability as soon as its pressed, but rather sets the turret into over drive mode so the next time it attack it will use the over drive ability.

So pressing overdrive on the net turret as soon as it does a normal attack is basicly just wasting some over drive time. granted it does make the cooldown for the next attack shoter. You should time it so you press it right before it fires a net. That way you would get the most electric nets out of it.

Think we are getting a bit off the topic I ment to be on.
I’m not saying death shroud cant be useful, im saying it has 0 synergy with the rest of your class.
It could easly be given to the thief or guardian and synergy just as well with them as it does for the necro. As the class mechanic it should some how effect the class as something more than just a second health bar.

Hey, any norn engis out there? just how small are the turrets you guys place? Compared to your size it must seem oddly tiny.

Iv always felt sad for the Engineer Asura because he is basically the dumbest asura around.
His inventions are decades behind the rest of his peoples.

And the Sylvari engineer seems to be going against his very nature.

How ever, if the style of the turrets reflected the race. Then the Asura Engi would have asura tech styled turrets and he a genius again.

Sylvari would have plant styled turrets to fit with his peoples cultural armor, weapons and lifestyle.

I assume the current turret style is for the charr, where the humans would have more silver and decorated turrets much like there weapons.

Why can't Engineers use hammers?

all of which take a utility slot. And last Iv heard cant have a sigil or bonus stats applied to them. Tho im sure eventually that will be changed.

It is a bit funny that the weapon set (toolkit) thats the most turret supported one actually causes you to have less turrets than your normal weapon sets.

I can see the hammer replacing the toolkit as the turret support weapon set and the toolkit being changed more of a “bag of tricks” kind of weapon kit.

Death Shroud

It seems to me there is very little to no synergy with Death Shroud and the rest of the necromancer.
There are a few traits that add effects to the Death Shroud and its abilitys, but its basicly a stand alone power.

I find my self only using death shroud as an “oh sh*” button or mid combat for the life transfusion power just for the group damage.

Just seems odd that the necro’s class mechanic doesn’t synergy with the rest of his powers.

That ranged minion pulls aggro like none other and always ends up getting killed for it.

Iv tossed my necro on the back burner only playing it when my main (engi) is starting to out level my friends. My necro was suppose to be my main.

That first mark the staff has, (mark of blood maybe?) gives regen to allies when there hit by it (saddly they cant trigger it) that helps a little.

I too tried swtiching out the life steal pet for the healing well, it helps but the cooldown is kinda long and using it to heal your minions leaves it on cooldown when you need it.
I’m still low level, only just hit 30 and got blood golem and my sylvari race power of root (forget the real name but I spawn lots of seed turrets!) so I dont know how the necro changes when you have more traits to pick from, but looking over them, they dont look too promising.

I really hope its a bug that they dont have a out of combat health regen like the hunters pet has.
Thats another problem with them, even if they manage to survive a fight, there damaged and need to be recycled any way. And the only way to do that out of combat is to equip a new spell then switch back.

My advice; Play somthing else until they improve the way the necromancer works. Trying to force your self to like it is just going to make you hate it even more.

I havent made an elem yet, but they look fun. And have alot of options with each weapon having 4 sets of powers.

I have on the other hand made a necro expecting him to be a minion master. Which he is not. Every one can pretty much agree (expect for the people that just love to argue) that the minions are trash. My person experience with the necro only extends to level 30. which isnt even half the max level.
So take that for what little it is.

I’m still leveling him a little on the side in hopes that eventually he will be fixed, and minions will be effective.

Engineers and rifles

I found a rifle with land mine made me near untouchable during 1v1 fights in the early levels. It gives you 2 knockbacks (which lays them out, unlike the shield’s that just pushes them back) and a net. from there you can mix what ever else you like.

Cooking as an 'available to all' profession? Separate from 'only two at once'.

Personally I like Runescapes approach to crafting, in that every one can do every thing.
I know each game is different and what works for one might not work for another.
(granted it seems like every mmo now follows the same pattern of “You get two.”)

Pet AI in the game is bad, sure. Iv yet to play any game that made me actually say “Hey, this pet AI is pretty good!” But ya, them shooting at hostile boxes even after they box is ‘killed’ really REALLY sucks.

I think its only the hunter and mesmer that are suppose to beable to force pets to attack what we wants because they are designed more toward single target damage where as the necro and engi’s pets being geared toward group damage support

At first I did have problems with my turrets being destroyed, but I havent had that problem in a while, granted I always have the 30% damage reduction trait and turret repair traits on. But in places with lots of AoE they do fall quickly. If the Deployable Turrets trait worked I think that would help letting me quickly spread them out.

iirc there are 2 traits that suppose to increase the mortars range but dont. Hopefully they will get fixed and add more than just 200 range. Infact any trait that increases range should be 400 or more rather than the kitteny 200. 200 more range isnt woth a trait slot.

Engineer or Necromancer

I started the Necro wanting to be a minion master type class. While the necro does have access to several minions, but they are weak on damage, slow on attack speed, low on health, dont regen heal on there own, and have poor AI.
I had a hard time trying to figure out what to learn when I got enough skill points because all his powers seemed like trash to me.
I’m also not too crazy about the necro’s weapon skills either.
For me the necro was a let down.

I then changed to the Engineer and loved it. If I cant have good minions, then good turrets are the next best thing, and they sure are.
Maybe its just my play style but when I look over the necro’s powers when trying to figure out what next to learn they all seemed like junk, but with the engi I still have the problem of not knowing what to get, but its because I want them all rather than none of them.

I still play my necro but as a scepter/dagger with wells instead of the staff/minions.
Its not till the mid 20s do I really get a good grasp on the class.
For me, I had to stop trying to play it my way and play it the way the devs designed it.

last thing, stay away from the Jagged Horror perk, you will go crazy listening to your character talk about losing another minion every 10 sec.

To me the solution is obvious.
Stealth should always break the mark, thats a given.
But when you create a clone that takes your place the mark should either be removed or better yet, transferred to the clone.

Having a mark over each clone would only be viable if when you pressed the hotkey to target the mark it randomly picked a marked clone or the real mesmer to select.

Also not all the mesmer clone abilitys create just one clone to take his place, the power mirror image (i think it what it is) creates two clones and move the mesmer, this kind of power should probably just break the mark if were keeping the single mark target system.

I get this alot more underwater than on land. Mainly sharks it seems. And like you its not like im attacking and running away to fight. I run up to it to fight with it usualy not having to travel at all to get to me.

I have noticed that while it is invulnerable to me, another player can come along and fight it while all my attacks keep saying invulnerable.

Which proffesion?

I think the necro, hunter, and thief all have some DoT heavy options.
But it seems all classes can apply DoTs, just some are better than others. But I dont know which are best.
